I have to wonder how much work they'll do before HG gives them the "give it to us, or give it up" speech and letter, in the form of a C&D. Clearly, another mosquito flying towards the blue light. I must admit, their character designs are pretty darn good, but the "mecha" designs are atrocious. I think the head design is decent.

I have no idea how many people are coming, since everyone's been replying here. Some seem still unsure, and of course, the bad news of Tochiro having to drop out. BTW, buddy, get better, and hopefully we can at least film something for you. Back on topic, I'm thinking since the concert is over at 3p.m. we should have all those that wanna attend the Yardhouse dinner afterparty to meet in front of Yardhouse approx 30 mins after, so we can get a headcount. those that are attending the dinner later, let us know to add you, and we'll go from there. It can be a quick meet, and we can all go off from there, wherever, and just meet up at 7 or 7:30. Really up to you all. I know there will be about 5-7 others not posting here that are part of the group that are meeting at the dinner, so it's already a decent group.

There are a couple in there somewhere, but they've already been posted up in here.

From what I've seen, the v.2 is way better than the v.1. Why would you want to fit a v.1 onto a v.2?

Is it going to be possible to pick up tickets during pre-registration on Wednesday? I'm going Wednesday afternoon/night to pickup passes. If doing that is possible, I'm hoping I can get my tickets early.

The cool thing about the ADV dub (and really the only thing) is that they do have it in the original Japanese as well. So, you can at least try watching the first episode in both and see which one she prefers. If she just prefers the english only, she may not appreciate it as much in English, but the option is there.

I have to admit, while I do like a lot of the music of Macross in general, Macross Frontier music is up there with some of the best of it. Add the fact that there's a good gathering of MW fans attending this, and it's set to be a good afternoon/evening. I'm looking forward to this concert, as it's probably the only time in the U.S. they might be here, and hanging out with Macrossworld fans from all over is gonna be a great time.

If I could find some gunbuster books, I'd get a couple. Actually, I have one that's got Gunbuster and Diebuster art, but that's it, and it's not really art intensive. I have quite a lot of other books, but those are just the Macross/Robotech books I have.

Yeah, and donkeys are flying in the sky w/ wings of gold. I know for a fact that they aren't working on that. Without going into details, there isn't much of anything that's going on over there, but then again, I don't think you need to be any Robotech fan to figure that out. Their big panels for AX and SDCC are on thursday, not on saturday, so it doesn't seem like they're getting the slots of priority. I don't blame that guy for wanting to see something from the franchise. If I cared about what was/wasn't coming out at this time from them, I'd be pretty much grasping for something, too. Do you think that it helps HG at all to wait forever to put out something new? I mean, for fans, they get starved for something, to the point where it doesn't matter the quality, so long as it's something new.

I see how this is going to go from a mile away. They're gonna bring them in, because they're gonna want them to work on Robotech fan projects because they 1)don't have the talent or 2) don't wanna do the work. Somehow when I saw that thread several weeks ago, I kinda had that inclination. We'll see though. I'm sure it'll get brought up sometime, unless me mentioning it here exposed that, and they decide to change the tactic. BTW, what happened to their fan LAM they were doing. We heard of that for what, 2 days? Then it went silent. I know one of the guys from that, and he's got talent for sure, but everything else seemed really half-@ssed. I'm just saying. Also wanted to throw in though, that if these guys do any fan work (on their own) without getting harassed by the people trying to bring them in, if they show that quality, it would be pretty cool. Saying that, it would make shadow chronicles look like garbage, I'm sure. They'd probably get shut down, too.

looking for sheet music for Ai Oboete Imasu ka
Jasonc replied to pondo's topic in Movies and TV Series
At least you played it at your wedding. Congrats! When my wife and I got married, we were thinking of all sorts of things we could do to relate our interests to our wedding. We are pretty good friends with Michael Bradley (singer/songwriter for a lot of Robotech and the singing voice of Lancer). He was willing to do a live performance of "The Way to Love" at the ceremony end, and another song "When you say nothing at all" for our dance. As for DYRL, I don't have the music at all, but I've been able to figure out the chords by guitar, and depending on which version you listen to, can sound more or less like accompany sound to the piano. Piano is something I know very little of. -
Does that have anything to do with Robotech, or are they associating it with Robotech because they're looking for something to latch onto? It looks pretty cool though.

Fire the feet missiles!!! Hahaha, nice catch. I thought that was a pretty funny observation. But these are pretty cool items. They'd make great game pieces.

Of all the things, my younger brother asked if he could borrow my Robotech DVDs today, so I drove them over to his house. He grew up with me watching the series back in the day, and while not an anime fan or hardcore forum posting robotech fan, he did like the show back then. He was asking a lot of questions about where the cartoons came from (the robotech 101 questions) and I filled him in. Needless to say, he's interested in the originals now, and wants to see Dyrl. It struck me funny that supposedly this show is more popular now than ever, but all the people I know that watched it back then, only remember bits and pieces of The Macross Saga and The New Generation. I'm sure he'll definitely like the Macross story arcs as much, if not more though. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

If you're looking for original SDF:Macross (what Robotech was based off of) only ADV had an english dub version of it, and to be honest, it isn't good. You may get more enjoyment out of the original Japanese language, but if you have to have the english dub, goto rightstuf.com and see if they have the ADV set. For the other Macross stuff, only Macross II and Macross Plus can be found with english, and you can probably get those at www.rightstuf.com as well.

This is a small sidenote I've noticed after last years AX2009. The only "Robotech" cosplay I saw was SDF:Macross cosplay, and then tons of Mac Frontier cosplayers. Even the girl hosting the Battle of the Bands was dressed as Sheryl, which was quite hot. Funny how you don't see people cosplaying as Robotech Shadow Chronicles characters, especially since the perception fans and staff like to suggest is that it's one of the most popular animes of the decade. Apparently, the anime community as a whole doesn't agree with that assumption. I don't even consider it anime, to be honest. I don't think that would even happen. HG would basically ruin their chances of having any sort of decent presence at AX in the future. They'd really have no basis for sending one out, especially since the venue, as stated, is promoting music, and isn't Macross specific.

I was listening to that one podcast with Tommy's interview, where someone mentions Dr. Lang dying, and the answer that fan got back was, "did you see a body?" All the fanboys who don't think about stuff like that were lauging, and you heard the "EHH?", the "Ohhhhh" and the "Ahhhhhhs". Any normal persons reaction would've been, "WTF?" The hint was that perhaps he's not dead, which is simply strange. Then the comment of "In sci-fi, just about everything is possible." That's true, but why would you suggest to kill off a character, then bring him back for no reason at all? Then, to make a comment like "did you see a body", I almost wanna say, "Would you really work on making the story even more lame and convoluted than it already is?" If the answer is no, then yeah, he's dead as per PTTSC, and Chronicles of the Shadow. I was also thinking, if the idea was to kill him off, why not just own the idea that you killed off the character. My response would've been much simpler. It would've gone more like "Well, he wasn't a big character, and in the scope of what Shadow Chronicles is, there just isn't a place for many of the characters, so we decided to end their stories." Plain, simple, clear cut, and out of the way.

My guess is he's probably in some back alley getting his proto-fix.

There's this really cool Doctor named Dr. Lang. I'm sure he's familiar with this problem. He's probably also familiar with the Chronicles of the Effin' Shadow.

Hanging out with bands is freakin' awesome. A number of years ago, my old band opened up for the Spin Doctors at the Key Club. Before we went on stage, we hung out with them and all their groupies on their tour bus. Then, we went on, did our set. After we had a crew pack our stuff up (never had that done before) and getting compiments from the band, they went on, the we partied with them more afterward. Gun times, indeed.

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
I would hope you guys do pass some out at AX. If we can get enough printed out, it shouldn't be a problem. And for the record, if anyone is going to any other conventions in the near future, and would like to pass out flyers, let me know, let me know. There's Macross fans all over this country, and I think it'd be cool to get some coming from everywhere. -

Shouldn't be too hard to create. When Cheryl and I get home from dinner tonight, we'll email it to you. -

Thanks guys. All I really did was provide images and some ideas, but my wife is the one who put it together. She's a graphics designer, and a damn good one. There is a high res version of this, and a poster size can actually be done (800 DPI version) It may be a good one to use for a welcome board for the con. In looking at the flyer, what a cool show that would be to see all those characters in one concert, hahaha. This will be the flyer that gets passed around to various conventions, and put in a couple anime and comic book shops (if they're willing). -
To answer your question, there isn't anyone really doing decal or sticker sheets...However, when I did mine, I had to make my own custom decals, and use some 1/72 scale decals. I'm in need of finding high quality decal sheets so that I can start making some for people. If anyone has links, or knows where Anasazi used to get his decal sheets from, I can make some decals possibly, or at least we can make all our own.

You can never go wrong with Iron Maiden. One of the last concerts I went to was to see The Cult at Club Nokia, downtown L.A. If you haven't listened to them before, and you like Hard Rock w/ hints of metal, that's one helluva band to listen to. They throw probably one of the grittiest, guitar thrashing, high energy concerts out there. Right now, I'm listening to the Cult, and the Used, another good band with a great vocalist.
