I like the character designs in that, looks very anime like, but the Valkyrie in that looks like it needs some help. On the other hand, Aria has a lot of people working on it, doing 2D, 3D, and things like original music, and the Mercury's Word is awesome. I think they're very close in styles for both projects.

OK, not sure where you were going with that, but yeah, sure. Ding Ding Ding!!! Right answer! Tell the man what he wins! Speaking on the TOU of RT.com, you have to understand that the staff doesn't run the forums, at all. It's run by mods who wanna feel like they're employed by HG, or simply wanna feel like they're big players in whatever game they've created for themselves. The mods who actually do a decent job over there are mods that are hardly on the site now. When I was modding there, even then in 2006-2007 there were emails I'd get of frustrated fans who were leaving the site in droves over stupid HG staff antics and other mod's lack of judgement and skill. I didn't want to step on "mod toes", so I'd tell those people to talk to Steve, and unfortunately, Steve only checks the site like once a quarter, so, there you go. If any of the staff is sadistic enough to read through every single post that goes up, it's probably Tommy Yune. If he sees something that offends him, or bothers him, more than likely he calls in his troops to ban them, so that it doesn't reflect on him. As a matter of fact, in certain instances, I know for a fact that, that was the case. There's a little on how the board is run.

You know, Tom, there's gonna be another 2 hr. episode dedicated to your two sentences from someone's nutjob podcast. Isn't mindscrewing some people fun?

Unfortunately, when it comes to most Robotech products after the original airing, the "don't knock it till you tried it" statement usually ends up being a "how much money did I waste" statement to follow. I have most of the Robotech comics (got most for free), and I must say, they are pretty attrocious overall. There are some where the art is decent, but it's far and few between, and in some, where the art is good, the story is just lame. When it comes to Robotech nowadays, if there's ever the "don't knock it till you tried it" statement, I'd rather just pass unless I can get it for free. Like when and if Shadow Rising ever rises it's ugly head out, I'll wait till hulu or it comes out on bittorrent. Then I can knock it after I "tried it". That's not an issue based on the ugly politics, but one based on product history of beeing shoddy.

Looks like Rick was gonna try to frontman in some emo band, and Max was gonna try to be the manager. That is some really crappy art.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Jasonc replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Next time, can you make the pictures even bigger? They're so small when you click on them to enlarge them. I need them in full poster size. -
I find this very true. If there were more places like that, I think my fridge would be empty.

Because it's resin, I'm using enamel paints to paint mine. I started with a white enamel Model Master primer (to give a contrast of the grey color mine came with). I'm putting two light coats on. Since the panel lines are nice and pronounced on this kit, the panels will still show up. Next, I'm using an airbrush for the top coats, but just using a gunmetal enamel to cover the parts that are supposed to be more bare metal. I'd put up pics, but I'm trying to get this thing done in two weeks, and I don't have a lot of time left with all the work I've got going on. Anyways, that's the paint I'm using. Oh, and let the enamel primer cure for 48hrs to get a strong bond to the resin.
-
If they do that, I'd rather spend the time customizing this kit so that it can attach those packs. The scout??? I really doubt they'd ever make that, but it'd be nice. Don't know about paying over $400 for it though.

I like the alternate book cover for MtF vol.2. Glad I bought 2 copies of it. I'm hoping Kinokuniya get vol 6 in soon.

Hmmm, also just received this via email. http://us1.campaign-archive.com/?u=f60cb1eee37a8df2b5c8e588c&id=bcb0f2c93a&e=646c3ffe21 I sure hope this applies to this item.

Already got a notice from HLJ that the order is being processed?!? If that's the case, this will be coming in quick. I hope it just means that the preorder info is only being processed.
-
Even some people gotta like poo, I guess, LOL.
-
Damn, that song is much harder than I expected. That was truly awesome.
-
He was a bit miffed in The Princes Bride. Now that's a jump, going from RT comics to that. OK, I'm done.
-
Preorder placed...I'm jumping on this. I think if they do a toy version of this, it's not gonna have the same detail, and IF they don't do one, I'd hate to pay through the nose for one of these (even moreso than they are now).
-
So, with HLJ coming to bat with this item, are we foregoing a "group buy". I know nothing was set up, but I don't wanna miss out on this. If there's one being planned out, I'd like to find out. Hopefully the price would be cheaper that route than paying shipping for one unit by ems.

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Seems like such a strange and odd petition-esque thing. Too bad I have no clue what it's talking about. Even so, why is it in this thread? -
I hope you know that "reading comprehension" refers to what you have written, not what isn't suggested or inferred. Since you didn't list everything, I'm kinda curious as to what you do actually like. As for what I don't care for, it's the Toynami MPC 1/55 line of Valkyries/Veritechs. Also don't care too much for anything SD or chibi, although, the chibi character statues and figures are fine.
-
Like I said earlier, we need to get the people that can make this happen together, and get the group buy started. I'm certain I'm in for one. My Zentraedi figure needs a Regult to pilot. Taking over the Macross takes firepower.
-
I don't think people are getting offended at disagreeing moreso than you pretending you know what you're talking about. So, you lived in Japan for 5 years, and that makes you an official on the economy, the people, and a pass at stereotyping and generalizing them? What's even worse is that you said you were there in the late 90s, that's over 10 years ago. I'd go into detail about how retarded your last few posts have sounded, but I think most have already figured that out. The only part that was referring to the topic seemed to have no solid foundation at all, so can we put this train back on the rails again?

That book is quite new, and has about 10-12 pages of Valk pics, some from the PSP game cover. It's an awesome book. There's plenty of Gundam art, as well as Votoms. It's a very good book, little pricey, but very good.
-
We need to organize a group buy and get all the players involved together to get this done. My money is ready.

I think the lag time for fixing "problematic" threads wasn't as bad as it is now. Steve used to be a little bit more involved, but in all seriousness, he doesn't do much over there. He is supposed to be the site's admin, but doesn't do any site admin. And no, back in the day, when people cared about the site, if there was a problem, usually we tried to settle it over email, and all, not just lock the thread and ban. If there was a "ban", at least when me and several others had to do it, it was sent with a clear and understandable reason why, and in a rare case where there was a misunderstanding, that persons priviledges were given back. The new trend over there is to ban without reason or notice, and even in a more public forum, instead of addressing the individual. It doesn't help when the staff take all criticism as personal attacks, even though it isn't, but that's just one of many countless issues on why they are where they are at. robotech.com is a clear representation of how the franchise is run, and that's really unfortunate. Good moderating isn't hard, you just have to be impartial, and understand that when issues come up, you have to listen to both sides before coming to any conclusions. That simple concept has been extinct from that site for a long time now.

The mouthy, idiotic Robotech fans we talk about and hear about seem to get pissed at Macross for one of these reasons. They remind me of the college guy who wants to be in the cool group of guys who have the nice car, the hot girlfriend, and do lots of fun things. Instead their group sits on the sidelines and watches wishes they could do all the stuff the other group does. It comes off that way from them because all they do is complain about things, and about Macross, and try really hard to put up a good front that Robotech is at the forefront of television history and cinematic technology. The reality of it all for the franchise in its current state is a dismal wrinkled balloon half inflated due to age, and is having the life sucked out of it by inactivity, care, and the process of time. At least some can celebrate what Robotech once was, and what it helped many discover, that being anime and MOSPEADA, and most importantly to some, Macross.
