I seem to be missing one of the mini missiles. Is there any way I can get another one?
-
I will open the box up tomorrow. Got the camera charged up. I don't expect to see much more than what has already been posted, so if it is underwhelming, not much I can say about that.
-
Thus the reason why I mentioned just some of the character designers and artists. They should've gotten more credit than they did.
-
It sounds like most of these comments are generalizations of the law, and are missing more of the details that are involved in this murky issue. I'm not exactly sure if HG ever had to really give credit to the creators and designers, but even if they didn't, it's still bad form not to. If anime hadn't exploded like it did back when, I don't think they would've ever mentioned names like Mikimoto, Kawamori, Miyatake, Kakinuma, and all the others. Kinda sad.

Just came in. Hello, Regult, I'm Jason. Nice to meet you. I'll put up pics tomorrow.

That's gonna be the one thing people notice in this epic sidestory of Robotech...gotta be the tits. Sorry, I laughed pretty hard when I read that. That discrepency just throws all of Robotech into a nosedive straight to hell. Maybe Tommy can photoshop bigger boobs, or at least hire DR Movie to do it, since he knows their style and how they operate.

At this point, they could mean anything by side story. HG seems to be under the impression that any definition of anything can change to fit their will (remember the term hiatus?). They could butcher up Love Live Alive to death to fit anything they want. Don't get me wrong either. I know there are several here that don't wanna see that happen, but I've heard and seen a bit too much, and unless they change things base on people finding out certain things, it is going to be this obscure anime. I do like the show as well, but we'll see what they do with it. It can either be a decent thing, or one hellofa disaster waiting to happen. I'm still not sold on them using this as a Robotech side story, but then again, I think only the original stuff that came from back when is the only stuff that HG might be able to have any success with. For them, it's a double edge sword for them. It provides short lived success, but also proves yet again that their current staff lacks the skill or fortitude to write anything that can stand on its own. Steve Yun once asked me how I'd feel if people criticized my work and called it stupid or bad. Well, at least I put my all into my own stuff, and at least it is "my" stuff, if you can call it that. Using Love Live Alive, what excuse can they use for that? Oh yeah, it's "Carl's Vision".
-
They have said countless times that it doesn't follow Shadow Chronicles at all, more of a "side story". I'll be severely disappointed when it is announced that it's Love Live Alive. Again, my only solice will be if they attach the original to it, so that at least we get that on DVD or something, and generate part of the proceeds to a charity, since afterall, they are doing the documentary on Carl's life and all. Capitalizing on someone's death is really not cool. That's how I see it.

REGULT ON THE WAY!!! Got my shipping notice yesterday, just too lazy to post it here when it came in.
-
I'm pretty sure it is Love Live Alive. I think everyone is coming to that conclusion, and based on what Tommy has hinted at in past, I think they're gonna package that and Carl's documentary together. I think that's he was talking about when he mentioned it being "movie length". Also, in the first announcements of this animated project, they specifically said (summed up) that even though they were waiting on WB and had obligations to them, Macek said that there are other venues and ways to get Robotech out. I wouldn't necessarily call that a "vision", but more of a logical idea. It went from that, to having this whole new animated project something that Carl pretty much created in a vision. Talk about inflating the facts. I think they're using that, so that if it pans, it doesn't look badly on the people who's idea this really is. I think the only thing that would generate less of a disrespect for HG, is if they use some of the proceeds of the productions to go to a good charity, and have the original Love Live Alive attached with the reworked version.
-
Based on all the info Tommy has hinted at, I'm pretty sure that this "new" project is actually old animation that just needs redubbing and mixing of sound. If I am correct in my research, it's probably gonna be brought with many more questions than answers.

No Mylene??? Awww, I would definitely go for that as well. But, priorities. Let's see this, then a VF-2SS

What's really sad, is going all the way to NY comicon, and not a peep of anything Robotech from it. Just more on the news that Robotech is not all the hype that they've been making it to be. Just wait till this project coming out next year comes out.

Exactly, being able to see new Mikimoto work on Macross is very exciting, and almost sells itself. The detail in the work is spectacular. I buy the Macross Ace magazine, and this is always the highlight of it.

The Regult was 38,800 yen, then I had some item on hold that was 400 yen, then shipping was like 2800 yen. To be honest, after this product, I'm a bit yenned out, and I still have two more items that are coming later this year. Should see this beginning of next week I think.

At least the story is so well known, that you almost don't need to know what they're saying. The pictures do a great job of telling the story. But yeah, knowing what they are saying does help.

Payment plus shipping with a 400 yen item was a total of $517. Damn, won't be buying too many more items in yen for awhile till that gets a bit better. Shipping wasn't too bad though, about $30.

Got a link for it? I can vouch as first hand witness that wasn't the case, unless he's counting Memo. In that case, OK, one person did.
-
Here's one of the pics taken. I put up a thread in the customs section. Still have a few more things to do, but pretty much done.
-
OK, I said I was gonna post this up when it was done, and it still needs some items tweaked and all, but here is what I have so far. Sorry, pics would've come in sooner, but I just hooked up a new wireless router due to the other one failing. So, I'm back on a regular basis again. Anyways, comments and all more than welcome. Thanks for looking. Credit for help on the painting process goes to Flakpanzer for the tips. The paint colors used were Gry primer, Model Master Lt Ghost Grey, then Lt Ghost gry w/ blk, then Drk Ghost Gry w/ more blk, and then Panzer Gry. I also used Flat white and Gunmetal, and a Tamiya weathering set. The designs were painstakingly done using blue light adhesive 3M painting tape, drawing the designs, then exacto knifing them out, then repeating the process about 3 times over for each part. So, without further ado, here's the pics.

Digital camo is done, and now putting the damn thing together. I haven't put decals on yet, as I'm test fitting everything, but so far so good. I think the imperfections in the paint give it more of a realistic look and all. Hope to have pics up tomorrow, as I will be off work.

This fact seems to be only overlooked by RT fans. Anyone without the fanboy/fangirl goggles on can and should understand that WB is in charge, not HG. I find it sad, yet amusing that HG has these panels, and announces writers and directors of the LAM as if they're the ones who put all that together, as if they're the ones who forked over the crates of money for all these people to get the ball rolling. If I was WB, I'd be thoroughly pissed off that this little pee-on company was indirectly claiming the work I did as their own. Not really something they'd be able to sue over or anything it seems, but something that is part of HG's M.O.

If HG was doing absolutely nothing with the Macross line, then it'd be squatting. However, they have a licensee that is making 1/100 scale vinyls of the franchise, and is still working on the 1/100 transformable toys. I think that would be proof of them not necessarily squatting on it, even though they'll never use any of the designs in any future production. As far as Tommy being at the MW con 10 today, I could've sworn he came, did his presentation and was in and out within 45 mins. I guess he wanted to do his Photoshop panel right after Mari's concert, right when everyone was in line for autographs and needed to stretch out. I think he had about 8 people sitting down listening, and out of those 8, 1 knows next to nothing about photoshop, and probably doesn't care, and half were just wanting to relax from the standing room only during the concert. Since I didn't here anyone ask questions about Robotech, or seem to have a big audience to care, I think Tommy probably decided to leave early. At least it felt like that, since he posted up some Robotech pic that many RT fans would've asked a million questions about, and no one even blinked twice at it at the con. Quick, cut, and dry. Sorry, you can't compete with Mari, and awesome Macross product and custom toys. Oh, and don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Tommy's presentation. From what couple sentences I heard, for those that don't know photoshop, it sounded like it'd be interesting. But as one girl said to her friend in Mari's line, "What's the point? If you really wanna learn photoshop, use the product enough and you'll learn what you need." QFT

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Wow, what an experience. Thanks all for putting this together, for the customs, the displays, the donations, the contests, this was a hell of a lot of fun. Mari was wonderful. I enjoy watching her perform. Clean up wasn't as bad as I thought, although being tired and kinda in a fog, I had such a hard time transforming my VF-27 Grace back to fighter.
