That's nice custom work you did on that kitten... Seriously, great work on your kit. Looking good. Wish I had more space to do more kits. At this point, I have enough space to barely do one, and even that causes issues. Can't wait to see more pics.

I've used the pencil before. I'm not too big on the washes and the Gundam markers. Pencil is reversible, and that is probably the best reason why I go that route.

It doesn't, but it's just Tommy's art. It's more liken to a comic book cover that only loosely relates to the story inside, except for maybe minor references (like Sera as the character). Tommy isn't doing the animation as he isn't an animator, but it's his artwork. Hahaha, sory. I would based on who they are and their first hand knowledge of it, not second or third hand info.

No buyer's remorse here. The more I work with this thing, the more I'm amazed at what it is. If you just want a Zentraedi toy, this isn't for all. If you want something more, that let's you put your own touch on it, and still remain a toy when done, than by all means, this is worth it. If they make a 1/60 toy later, that would be cool, but I don't think it'll be as detailed as this.

Who knows, maybe a backlash of this idea will squash the idea? I wouldn't have had any negative remark if this was done say 10 years ago. It would've been a great spark for the franchise. Then had they done RTSC afterward, well, it probably still would've sucked, but at least it would've been something more. Now, the idea just seems like an afterthought, something to try to keep a failing spark alive. I'd actually be interested in it if it came with the original Love Live Alive, but what are the chances of that happening? Oh well. Maybe all this news getting out will change what they are planning. If not, its success/failure will only really be known when it's out.

There's no link, but see below for the answer I know people who know. Other than that, there's been too many hints that Tommy has given in regards to what it supposedly is. Now, if they change what they're doing, then all bets are off, but that's about all I'm gonna say on that. I agree, as I've stated these same type of sentiments before. Most know the reason for why Robotech was 3 different series into one. I didn't say Carl had this plan to create Robotech from the get-go as is. Nevertheless, based on the circumstances and how it all worked out, he was an integral part in making what they were given work. I can still watch Robotech and enjoy watching it, no nostalgia involved. That's a good sign that they did something right. And no matter how we can slice and dice it, Robotech is decently known and loved, especially in South America. What people know and remember of it, is probably one of the reasons why it has so many problems adapting to today. Hearing VAs and staff talk about the work they did on Robotech back in the 80s, you can tell the attitude of the work was much different than it is now. Aside from the awesome work that Macross was, the staff did a very good job of adapting it and fitting it to what was the norm for the time, and for t.v. here in the U.S. It really is no wonder why Robotech will pretty much be stuck in the past. For HG, that maybe a bad thing, but it's not so bad in reality.

This issue is gonna rear it's ugly head over and over, as long as HG does crap like try to pass off LLA as a new production, which is what they are doing. Then you gotta wonder how they're going to tout this off as being "new"? What are they going to add to it to give it new life, other than changing a story to it and adding the voices? This probably would've been a great idea 10 years ago when they were first trying to get the name back out there and when the site was new. Now, it's just something they're trying to use for a popularity contest. Then to do all the work for it, and then say it's all Carl's vision...wow. Really? If it flopped as an idea and a work, would current staff take the blame, or would they put that on Carl as well? For all the faults that people find here with Carl Macek, I think he did a great thing by doing what he needed to do to get these 3 series over here. If it wasn't for Robotech, I wouldn't have been able to see Macross for a lonnnnng time after it was made, and Mospeada and Southern Cross would be series I'd have probably never known. I think Carl's vision back then was great, just given to a company that isn't the most principled.

The inside looks similar to that...of course definitely not as detailed. It does have that center eye glass display and the indicators and buttons around it, but not in that amount. Also, I don't recall seeing the two manual controls (unless I didn't pay attention to it. I'll be flipping through the episodes to get color for the interior. There's just no way of getting around that. some drew the Zentraedi bigger than they really were. Probably cause it would look awkward having the valkyries going up against napolean sized Zentraedi. It probably would've taken some of the "ferocity" and scariness out of the aliens. Who really knows. Zentraedi did come in different sizes, look at Britai compared to Kamjin. Then look at Kamjin to his other soldiers in the size comparison pic a couple pages back (or previous page). Maybe T-Rex's zentraedi soldier is more like a seargent or lieutenant. Then if you put on the Kamjin head, I guess it makes sense why he wouldn't fit. Ugh, too much thinking for all this stuff. Exo, if you build it, they will come. (get your mind out the gutter)

On page 1, there's a photo of a painted inside, although not all of it is shown. As far as the raw pieces, they look like you can detail it pretty decently. I'll try to get around to taking pics. I got a lot to do this weekend, including work, so I'll get to that when I can.

We were discussing this over lunch. Perhaps a 1/72 pilot would fit, but the scale of the Regult does seem to be about 1/60. That's 80s anime for ya. Gotta love it.

I've started the cleanup process, but no heavy work on it. I'm stuck doing a 1/60 Zentran figure right now, and after that, I'll bust out this kit for the process. Honestly, this kit looks so easy to do, you could probably do it with your eyes closed. My only choice is to weather and/or how much if I do. So far, I'm thinking light weathering. Also gonna do up the decals, since this one is completely without.

my copies of Vol.6 are waiting at Kinokuniya. Since I have to work tonight across the street, I'll probably leave early enough to pick it up, or maybe just get it on Saturday. Can't wait to see this Vol. The changes in the story are what make it so fun to look through.

Isn't it tradition for Chinese style weddings for the bride to change her dress like 3 times? This could be one of the dresses. Pretty cool. I like the pic. Would like to see more of the cake and display.

If you are looking for SDF Macross, it was released here by Animeigo, and ADV, as well as Macross II: Lovers Again, and Macross Plus. The rest have been struck from the rest of the world as it is. My wife agrees as well.

Is that covered in that, uh, is it fondit? I wonder how it taste? Probably not the best tasting, but I know NMB4M makes yummy cake.

I drank from mine twice I think, and the rest are used as pencil/pen holders. I think I'll live.

Good to know. I think I'll see how the joints fit to the styrene first before undertaking that, but if they are really secure, that's good news. Coat of primer is on the parts already, so tomorrow, I'll be off to find a good green to go with it as well as the other colors. The gry primer is a good color for the gry pieces of the soldier. May not need anything else.
-
What size styrene rods are those? I just started on my kit, getting it ready. I'm actually gonna paint mine to make it a bit more color correct to the show.

That is awesome. I'm surprised I never saw this before. Now, that's how a redub should be done. People using more realistic verbage (if you can call it that). Max was classic. There are others there as well from Indep. Day. All are pretty damn good.

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread
Jasonc replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
If the venue allows, our band Boobytrap will have several FireBomber songs done and ready. We have some that are 80% practiced and worked out, but it's that 20% that is the difference between "why are these guys up there" and "I'm glad these guys are rockin'". We'll probably also do a live band karaoke, so if anyone had a Macross song that we can do and wanted to sing it, they could. Working out the logistics of that. -
That's good to hear. Just make sure you do a thorough parts check. The first few pages of the instruction book have all parts listed. I've already started sanding and dry fitting pieces. The pieces need almost no extra work. They're made pretty damn well. I fit the entire body together, and needed just minor sanding with a soft sandpaper. Good stuff.

That's never been stated by any of the VAs on why they didn't use their real names. It's been no secret and fairly easy to access knowledge that they didn't use their real names because of the Screen Actors Guild, and they were kinda working under the table, so in order to get paid, and not get in trouble with SAG, they used aliases.
-
If it takes a contract to do so, that's a pretty $h!tty company to begin with. So far, this is spelling out HG's character pretty well. Not that they've done everything bad, cause Robotech was a good thing back in the day, but this seems to be what it's all about now. "What does the contract say", "What can we get away with?" Not like it would've costed money to put up the names in the opening and/or end credits.
-
The VAs will tell everyone that they didn't have their names in the credits due to SAG and those issues. It seems like they knew the deal when they picked what fake names to put on the end credits. And in seeing that ending of how it should've been, is great. It's unfortunate that it won't be a reality to the original artists and such. In anycase, I'm kinda on the agreement that this back and forth with people that don't get it, is kinda over and done. Then to see it go into the realm of spellcheck??? Good Effin' Grief!!!

Just did a parts check on mine...All parts accounted for (with those extra sprue pieces). Anyways, I took a couple snapshots of the body piece dry fit so you can get an idea of size. This thing is quite big. The legs are huge. As for the quality of the parts, it's actually quite good. Anybody have any suggestions on type of paint and sealer to use on this material?
