OK, I wasn't able to find my camera yesterday, but I did finish the Valk neck to the other kit's head. As you'll be able to see, the test came out perfect. As the head is now, it will work in the transformation without having to take it off. I still plan to do a lot of sanding, putty, and a couple other mods to make it as close as possible to what I'm doing. I think you guys can figure it out now, and if anyone wants to spill it on what it is, go ahead. For those of you that do know, it's gonna be a lot more work before this thing is done. Feedback is always welcome.

Cool, been wanting to do one of these for awhile, but have too many other projects on my plate. Nice job.

While trying to look for my Dremel, I've started working on the new head to go with the Valkyrie. I'll be combining the neck of the unassembled Valkyrie with the head of another kit I bought several years ago specifically for this project. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it today and put up a dry fit so you can see it. If not, it may be tomorrow. I'm customizing it, so that hopefully, the head will be able to look up and down like the original does.

I didn't get much "bang" from that thing at all, LOL. But oh well. Comics were inexpensive back then, not $4-$5 like some are now. I remember finding change around the house as a kid,or my mom giving me a few dollars, and being able to run to Thrifty Drug store to buy the Comico comics. I think they were like $1.25 or something like that. Those, along with baseball cards. Once those ended, there were all the spin-off comics that came later. Still, I look back at those times, and think that Robotech had more going on then, than they do now. Robotech wasn't even being aired anymore, either, and there was no internet like it is now (obviously). For some reason, this topic within this thread makes me wanna pull out the comics and thumb through them. Some were crappy, some were pretty good and promising.

I think the hardpoints should be simple. Just find styrene rod that has a decent diameter in the open space inside, and trim the rod to the desired thicknes, then use a strong gap filling glue, or resin to hood them in place.

It's solid. has been over tested on other pieces. Should last a looooonnnnnnng time.

OK, I'm starting on what probably is my most ambitious project to date. I'm not gonna say what it is at this point, but work has begun. I'll post pics as I progress, and since I'm such a slow worker, they aren't gonna come all that often. Anyways, here's the start. This is from a 1/60 unassembles Valkyrie. still got A LOT of work still to do on the cockpit, but hoping for sometime in January to be done with just that section. In the meantime, I'll be working on the head as well.

Sounds like you'll need a lot of styrene, some bondo (or other gap material to curve and smooth out). Also, make sure you have plenty of tools, like sand paper (different grits), files, exacto knife, drill bits, whatever you think you might use, and then some. there's always a tool I don't have that I could use, and I have quite a few. You'll also need a good glue. Most important, you'll need to do your plans first and foremost...figure out what you want to do, draw it out, and plan ahead. That way, you come up with the better solutions to any issues before working on the fly and figure it out later, after you may make an inferior choice. The armor piece sounds very ambitious, but if you pull it off, or start work on it, we'd love to see pics of your work in progress.

That's funny, and almost my same story. I still have both of them in a comic archive baggy and backboard (as I did that with all of them way back when. I think I read the first one, and half of the second one, as I just got busy with other comics and their stories later on. The only reason I bought the comic in the first place was that I had some of the model kits, and was "learning" how to build them. Good times.

I do agree that Minmay in MtF does come off more more sure and a little bit more demanding. In the series, she comes of a bit reactive to the scene around her, where in MtF, she is much more proactive. However, in the same context, she still has the light hearted demeanor and smile that we're used to. I don't think there could've been a better way to update her than to give her more "demand" and yet still retain the qualities of a meek young lady. The balance plays out nicely.

Can't find the link for the sale of the covers.
-
That's it, but the page I got isn't in that horrible color, and the file size was a bit larger than what's shown. Otherwise, the same thing.
-
I have to say that I don't think that was there intent. I know there was a season when they wanted to bring Macross stuff over here on there terms and get Macross 7 Trash translated, but as they don't know how to conduct business correctly, I think they offended BW with their offers and probably mucked them ever getting that chance. I think the person you talked to was either specifically talking out of their ass about that, or they really have no clue about much of anything. To answer your last question, I don't know. It may all be in the RTSC art book. A concept hoover cyclone, color sketches of Ariola and J.U.G.S (Aerial and J.A.N.I.C.E.) concept sketches of Scott, Vince Grant, Space Sta Liberty, Robotech Factory, and some invid called the Gosamu, and of course the Gamma Fighter. I tried finding the file that I downloaded, but when I had issues with my computer before Windows 7, I lost everything. I printed out some of the stuff, so I think that's what I have that's relevant to that...That and nothing else. Most of what is mentioned I think is in the artbook.

I'll be doing whatever fix I need to do on the first one, so that when I get the one that comes with the Angel Bird toy, I won't have to mess that one up. Aren't they like 2000 yen at hlj? I may have to get another as well.

It looks like it's the rear part of the cockpit that is maybe built up a little too high and prevents the canopy from closing properly. When I finally do build mine, I'll keep playing with the sanding portion. Maybe there's a way to put a spring in there that will keep it from popping up. Options, options.

I had one of Tommy's good fan buddys link me to it several years ago, supposedly, he got it from Tommy, which I believe considering they're best friends and all. Anyways, he posted up some of those images in some rapidshare file or something like that, and I downloaded them. Later, they were taken down when someone at HG made a big stink about them popping up (speculating, or maybe I just wrote the wrong link down). I think there's just a few people that have all the images that were on that file. No one ever told HG who the person was that put it up, although it'd make for some unnecessary drama in their camp. On the appearance of the Ark Angel, I don't think it looks like battle 7 at all. Battle 7's top deck looks a bit more like an aircraft carrier, and looks like a space warship. This resembles more of a MOSPEADA design, of course with the Macross idea of the transforming ship.
-
I see them pop up from time to time, but mostly they're so far out of price range. Especially if you want a decent one of Noriko.

Looking pretty awesome. Can't wait to start seeing real colored pics. Great work on the Blazer valk too. Looks like that would be very promising.

Yeah, but the way they show boobs, it wouldn't surprise me if they "retcon the name". Also, J.A.N.I.C.E. should mean (Jugs and Nipple Implants Certainly Enhance). I always wondered that myself when I first read that, but, it is concept art, and probably just brainstorming. If they did do that, you'd have to wonder why the SDF-1 was able to have artificial gravity, and newer colony ships can't.
-
Sorry guys it took so long to put up the pic. I had to find the pic I downloaded long ago, and then, had issues with my scanner clipping the page. Nevertheless, here you go.
-
From the backside, it actually doesn't look too bad. I may not like Tommy's character designs for anything, but the mecha designs aren't that bad. I did wonder though, why he'd draw all these designs, if only to use rehashes and the most basic, blocky looking ships later on. It's like they started with better stuff, and worked downwards. The ship doesn't look as much like it did in the movie. As stated above, I think they took a slightly better design, and decided to strip and dumb it down.
-
Give me sometime and I'll go through my books, notebooks, and magazines, and see if I can find the transformed Ark Angel. It's not a big pic at all, but it is out there.

Whatever happened to the Britai Viny 1/60 figure? They should at least maybe go that route in the meantime between the slow-down. I started work on my own super custom 1/60 that hasn't been done yet, so I'm glad they at least did the unassembled versions. There's still the Angel Bird and VF-X (Christmas gifts). I hope the Regults sell well enough that equate to making a toy version, even if dumned down. Graham, since you are in contact with Yamato, how about a VFX Ravens VF-19? That was my favorite colored 19 model. Still don't know why the "Nut Cracker" or "Double Nut" (WTF) and the "Bird of Prey" were done before that. MILK THOSE MOLDS, BABY!!!

Nice cel you got there. My wife and I are saving up for AX this year, so depending on what cels they have, we'll be getting a few more. I want to get some of M:Plus, but it's all about selection. I'll also be looking for some more of Orguss, and the ever elusive Gunbuster cels. Heck, I'd even like to get a good one of Miriya (not the crappy drawn versions).

On the contrary, I do. It's a pic of the ship, and a pic of it transformed in a 3/4 view. Almost the same as the Gamma fighter picture. He never shows a frontal pic, but it is shown transformed. There's also some of a hoover cyclone, and Tommy's version of Showgirls in Space, AKA, JANICE and Ariola. Seeing those pics is why I laughed at Tommy's excuse for why all the girls were in skimpy clothes with big boobs. The studios were just making those characters off of his designs that he signed off on. Anyways... On the issue of new news for Robotech, really? I mean, REALLY? Fanboys will probably say that all is moving, but even if that were the case (which really isn't), perception is everything, and if you're name isn't out there, you're product is dead. Supposedly, the new work for the old animation is still being worked on, as well as Carl's documentary, but there's nothing new that's been announced since they first announced the "new animated series". Fans seem to be doing some stuff though, and the ones that are actually doing something very cool, I'm fortunate to be working with. Hopefully the end result will be worth the time involved.
