  1. The sad thing, is that those ideas are better than what Robotech has become, and the story more exciting than Shadow Chronicles. Stop giving them ideas They are paying people over there good money, so they should be at a desk working hard to come up with riveting stuff, stuff that makes the fans and community excited, not question why some of the staff there are even employed.
  2. We should probably start with the show in chronological order, and start the discussion in an official thread for discussion of the viewing parties. I also vote for monday through friday, as sometimes there's just usually a bit going on during the weekends. Just my vote. I found the entire CA DVD versions subbed on anime suki, and I'm currently downloading the entire series, ovas, prequel, and movie stuff.
  3. Pleeeeaaaasssseeee someone, anyone have news on this? I really don't care if he's super articulated with 1000 different movements, or just a couple, having a Britai figure that doesn't look like the Matchbox one in 1/60 would be perfect.
  4. It was a T-Rex toy kit, that I believe was sold in limited amounts at the wonderfestivals in Japan. From what I know, they are pretty hard to come by, but may still be somewhat accessible through ebay and other auction sites. They are a bit pricey, but well worth the buy, if you want enemy stuff to go along with your Valks. He just needs a leader now, so where is that Britai figure Yamato was going to do.
  5. I wanted to thank Tom for coming over and hanging out the other day. I got to watch it for the first time, and must say, it's definitely grandios on drama and story. The first episode was full of action, drama, and a lot of story. You can definitely tell it's a large story, and 110 eps. seems like it would fit just right for a story this big. If the central anime series is on bittorrent, I'll probably download all of it to my external HD now, and prep for the viewing. What are the terms of viewing? Mon-Fri? And do we discuss the watched episode the day after so that people have a chance to watch and not get spoilers? Hahaha, I guess I'm saying, count me in.
  6. While I'm off of work, I may start to put this together, along side another project I am working on. I'm gonna test the paint on a spare HDP part and see what paint, primer will hold on this material. I'll probably use Enamel, as that's usually tougher, so I'll probably start that next monday,,,maybe.
  7. Thanks Graham for the review. Like in your review, I'm still on the fence, and that, say, $50 to $80 off would've made me jump on this one. Maybe if I find one later on at a lower rate. If not, oh well, better for me. The toy looks awesome though.
  8. Thanks for the comments all...To answer this question, I used styrene rods and bored some space into the joint holes. Once the styrene rod holes fit the pegs of the joints, they were set into the bored out locations. this made the joints quite solid, and the soldier is quite functional as a toy. That took the most time. When I first started fitting joints in the sockets, I did realize they were a bit large. Exo found the styrene to make it work, so with his help, we got both our figures done that way.
  9. I'm really torn on this one. There are some things I definitely like about it, but some things that just don't make it look like a "Macross" Valkyrie. To me, it looks Something that you'd see in a video game, like Gradius, or R-Type. Looks a little to "spacy" for me in some ways. On the other hand, in those realms, it looks pretty damn cool. In finding out that the red/white one is Alto's, it seems a bit too fast to have such a drastic change in Valkyrie design.
  10. That's definitely a question that only a staff member could answer, mainly Tommy Yune. As creative director, and someone who did mention working first hand on this thing, the responsibilit of final product animation wise would fall on him. My opinion was that he was too busy putting a spin job on other issues and too busy hyping up the movie, than actually working on the details of it. Then again, it also doesn't help that they took a semi-decent studio, and didn't make a decent monetary investment into the product. As it's been pointed out, they probably knew that it'd sell anyways because it had the Robotech name on it, so to them, it didn't matter that it had any real quality to it. In regards to Toynami, they have the ability to put out good toys, but I think they are behind when it comes to more complex engineering. Then again, it seems like Toynami doesn't have the staff that say, Bandai or Yamato have. You also can't count the MPC Cyclones, or the Megahouse ride armors, because those were done by Japanese companies, and just licensed over here under Toynami. I don't think Toynami is a bad company...their toys are hit and miss, more miss on the transformable stuff, but they are still young in that dept. To get a good product, you have to invest money, and I don't think Robotech is their bread and butter. On your last point about the product, yeah, I agree with you on the merchandise. Seems the RT staff are now too busy putting out fires than actually trying to really indulge the fans. For example, the website. The site has never been updated with a new look, EVER. That alone would give them more traffic. Then, as they can't do Shadow Rising, or anything of major importance, and they don't have enough interest in the U.S. to print their comics in their own backyard, why not do an online version of shorts? Hahaha, now I sound like one of the disgruntled fans on rt.com. Truth is that I don't care anymore like I used to, but I had been making that suggestion back 5 or 6 years ago. They probably don't do it because someone other than Tommy suggested it first, like many other fans have as well.
  11. That work definitely would've been better than Shadow Chronicles. I think everyone's got a "vision" of how they'd like to have seen a sequel to Robotech go, and one's perfect sequel is someone else's craptastic work. I guess the weight of it all comes out to the ratios of how many like it vs. how many don't. RTSC probably had a bit too many people not like it. I would have been more interested in seeing Shadow Force much more. I think the only problem you may not have been able to escape is the cheap animation that it was/would've been made into. HG just cut too many corners in RTSC. Yeah the story sucked, but at least they coulda had great animation. No, they didn't have that, but at least they coulda had some great action scenes. No, not there either, but the characters were good, right? No, the characters sucked as well as the script, so basically if you fix one problem, there's too many others to bring it down. Shadow Force would've at least had 10 times the chance at being better. Just my opinion, and it's only that, no right or wrong about it.
  12. Cool poster. Thanks for sharing that. For christmas, I got something to record music onto. Not a mixer, but kinda a home recorder of sorts. I'll be sending over some files for more sample stuff for possible more music next week sometime. Till then, Merry Christmas all. See you guys soon.
  13. Here's my 1/60 Zentran soldier. These aren't the greatest pics, but he's pretty much done. In the toy section I listed the colors, but I used Model master flat black, Grun (I guess German Green), light camoflauge, Panzer gry, and drk yellow. For the gun, I used a gry primer and a gun metal metalizer. Then it was all sealed in matte topcoat. Hope you enjoy, feedback always welcome.
  14. I'd almost have to say that based on the blue background of the decal sheet, it's more likely a Hasegawa set, maybe an option set, in which case, would more than likely be 1/72. The Hasegawa 1/48 is only the VF-1J, and I haven't seen or heard any option sets for that yet, as it's still pretty new.
  15. I haven't listened to it either, but thanks to some good friends, they gave me the rundown of it. Basically, it's about me, Tom, and a couple other people. What I understood from it (I did get an in depth synopsis from 2 people) was that most of it is all hypotheticals, conspiracy theories, and 1/4 truths all made to be fact. I posted some of the details on the previous page I think, so it's not worth repeating. On a sidenote, since HG doesn't seem to care about the image, why does the peanut gallery? Supposedly they use the term of me "getting caught" leaking pics. Heck, I put it out there hoping people would see it. Some got to see the other stuff I was given by Memo, and I asked one guy to take it off another website till all this drama was free and clear. As HG hasn't answered the call I made in a public forum, they are in effect, stating that they don't care that the images came out (not that they'd have any recourse due to whom I got them from). It's all petty, sad, and yet sickly funny at the same time. I probably won't be writing for a couple days, as it is Christmas, but will respond to pm messages. So, if I don't talk to you guys till afterward, have a Merry Christmas for you and your families, even our so-called enemies (which I don't really call it that). They probably hate me, but I do wish them all well. Afterall, this is only over animated pictures. Talk to you guys soon, or at least I'll be lurking for a couple days. Have a good one my bruthas and sistas.
  16. Man, on those images I see one with my name on it, and here I thought I'd have more people listening. Sheryl and Ranka kicked my butt there. Thanks for putting that up. I knew they were padded somehow, and now it's clear why. EXPOSED and OWNED!!! This feels like the ending of a Scooby-Doo episode where the criminal yells out "If it weren't for you pesky kids".... Scooby Dooby Doooooooo! Hahahaha
  17. Hahaha, yeah, I hear ya on that. I might give a $h!t if anything those guys made accusations about were true, but it's so far off base, and so far off from what the real event was, that it's not even worth caring about, and that's what's probably bothers them. The fact that none of us care enough about their conspiracies probably pisses them off. I like what Darkwater has said in that thread about how they throw out some almost random theory, then solidify it as truth, then continue to build more theories off that, solidify that, and so on and so forth. It's quite funny and intriguing to see the effect it has, as truth to them only last for about a month before it is revised and changed, then a "new truth" comes out, only to be changed again at a later time. There is some serious delusional thought processes going on there. Anybody with a degree in Psycology wanna take a look at all that online behavior?
  18. My guess would be 1/72, but then again, it's probably best to ask the seller on that one in case you don't get a for certain answer.
  19. Don't know if you guys follow this site, but for a good laugh and wild conspiracies, to get an idea of what some of the loonies think, go here: http://disciplesofzor.com/topic/2776/t/Robotech-Fan-Podcast-show-on-Talkshoe.html?page=14 The good, the bad, and the ugly all in one thread.
  20. I was looking at the designs the original creator had, and it looks like he originally had it as a one seater. I'm gonna make it a one seater, only because the unassembled kit is a one seater. I could always chop out the back part and squeeze a 2nd seat in there, but it makes more sense in my opinion as being a one seater. I can see how training and surveilance valks would need twin seats, but this is a fighter, and aside from the electronic warfare devices that aren't mentioned, it's still a fighter, and usually only one man would be necessary. I will be using the Ostrich wings though. Sorry for no pics yet, I needed to fix some internal parts, and will be sealing the cockpit today, and putting the foundation for the nose on, including the leg attachment.
  21. I think this maybe going the way of "Ghost In the Shell", when do we get to transfer to robotic bodies?
  22. Gubaba is right, however they run their site is totally up to them, even if it runs fans out of the franchise. The only time it became a problem is when Steve or Tommy (sometimes one in the same) would ban someone or blacklist someone based on comments they made on their own sites, different sites, or on blogs. I think that backfired and most of what they do now is spy on the other sites...why, I don't know. It's not like they can do much if opinion outside their backyard is going downhill. In other news, someone gave me a recap of the conspiracy theories I knew would pop up. So far, I'm some other user on another board, we're all trying to put "a hit" on Memo (really??? WTF does that mean, are we in the mafia?) and Memo didn't know how to use a computer or scanner a number of years ago, so how could he send me images? I swear, I laughed so hard, it was like a workout. Of course, none of that is even remotely true, but don't leave it to me to interrupt their fantasies about me. The person who wrote to me with the recap asked that last question, and I found it a good catch. Memo was a moderator at that time, so to say you didn't know how to use a computer...well, problem solved. For the last part, when did I ever say that the images were scanned? Hell, for all I know, they couldn't been sent as files in an email from Tommy, given on a disc, etc. Never said anything about him scanning them. On the business of HG, they seem to make enough money with the buying and selling of films, and with their rental property stuff, all of which can be found on their website and doing a little internet searching. What was also pointed out to me was that HG's business structure doesn't seem to be built to run a franchise product. They're geared for the other 2, but not to run a franchise. Robotech seemed to be a venture they took a chance on with films they purchased, and when it became such a hit in 85, they kept it. But, as time went on, they had failure after failure of sequels and movies, that it just kinda fell by the wayside (It doesn't help when you're trying to sell ugly toys and you stop marketing the product). Now they're busy trying to get the product moving again, and it has, but with things like what Tom said, and with events like I said in the first paragraph of this, at what cost? The reputation of the franchise is a joke, and many, many people I know who were once into the franchise for the fun of it, now don't even check to see the news they put out every 6 months.
  23. That's a really good version of the song. Thanks for that link. While flipping through the video, I cam across this... Totally awesome!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnyqjPGiAko&feature=related At first I thought the title of the video was wrong, but it's not. May'n singing "Lost My Music" from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
  24. When I first saw the drones that create that tentacle type weapon, at first, it was a "WTF???" moment. But after examining the pages, it seemed like a pretty cool addition. Seems these drone type weapons can link together as an anti ship weapon, or fight independently. IMO, it adds more to the "organic-like" feel the Zentraedi have.
