  1. My guess would be 1/72, but then again, it's probably best to ask the seller on that one in case you don't get a for certain answer.
  2. Don't know if you guys follow this site, but for a good laugh and wild conspiracies, to get an idea of what some of the loonies think, go here: http://disciplesofzor.com/topic/2776/t/Robotech-Fan-Podcast-show-on-Talkshoe.html?page=14 The good, the bad, and the ugly all in one thread.
  3. I was looking at the designs the original creator had, and it looks like he originally had it as a one seater. I'm gonna make it a one seater, only because the unassembled kit is a one seater. I could always chop out the back part and squeeze a 2nd seat in there, but it makes more sense in my opinion as being a one seater. I can see how training and surveilance valks would need twin seats, but this is a fighter, and aside from the electronic warfare devices that aren't mentioned, it's still a fighter, and usually only one man would be necessary. I will be using the Ostrich wings though. Sorry for no pics yet, I needed to fix some internal parts, and will be sealing the cockpit today, and putting the foundation for the nose on, including the leg attachment.
  4. I think this maybe going the way of "Ghost In the Shell", when do we get to transfer to robotic bodies?
  5. Gubaba is right, however they run their site is totally up to them, even if it runs fans out of the franchise. The only time it became a problem is when Steve or Tommy (sometimes one in the same) would ban someone or blacklist someone based on comments they made on their own sites, different sites, or on blogs. I think that backfired and most of what they do now is spy on the other sites...why, I don't know. It's not like they can do much if opinion outside their backyard is going downhill. In other news, someone gave me a recap of the conspiracy theories I knew would pop up. So far, I'm some other user on another board, we're all trying to put "a hit" on Memo (really??? WTF does that mean, are we in the mafia?) and Memo didn't know how to use a computer or scanner a number of years ago, so how could he send me images? I swear, I laughed so hard, it was like a workout. Of course, none of that is even remotely true, but don't leave it to me to interrupt their fantasies about me. The person who wrote to me with the recap asked that last question, and I found it a good catch. Memo was a moderator at that time, so to say you didn't know how to use a computer...well, problem solved. For the last part, when did I ever say that the images were scanned? Hell, for all I know, they couldn't been sent as files in an email from Tommy, given on a disc, etc. Never said anything about him scanning them. On the business of HG, they seem to make enough money with the buying and selling of films, and with their rental property stuff, all of which can be found on their website and doing a little internet searching. What was also pointed out to me was that HG's business structure doesn't seem to be built to run a franchise product. They're geared for the other 2, but not to run a franchise. Robotech seemed to be a venture they took a chance on with films they purchased, and when it became such a hit in 85, they kept it. But, as time went on, they had failure after failure of sequels and movies, that it just kinda fell by the wayside (It doesn't help when you're trying to sell ugly toys and you stop marketing the product). Now they're busy trying to get the product moving again, and it has, but with things like what Tom said, and with events like I said in the first paragraph of this, at what cost? The reputation of the franchise is a joke, and many, many people I know who were once into the franchise for the fun of it, now don't even check to see the news they put out every 6 months.
  6. That's a really good version of the song. Thanks for that link. While flipping through the video, I cam across this... Totally awesome!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnyqjPGiAko&feature=related At first I thought the title of the video was wrong, but it's not. May'n singing "Lost My Music" from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
  7. When I first saw the drones that create that tentacle type weapon, at first, it was a "WTF???" moment. But after examining the pages, it seemed like a pretty cool addition. Seems these drone type weapons can link together as an anti ship weapon, or fight independently. IMO, it adds more to the "organic-like" feel the Zentraedi have.
  8. So, if you wipe your @$$ with the TP, does that count as a custom, and will Robotech conventions later on have said customs contest?
  9. Here are some things to consider... 1)In most of Tommy's talks about the 2011 project, he doesn't really mention it as a movie, at least until people kept calling it that. Even then, he seemed very hesitant to call it a "movie", but more a "movie like movie" (whatever that means). 2)He mentions that the production and financing for it is on a much smaller scale than Shadow Chronicles. At first I thought this could be a moving comic or flash movie, but then I got word it was or part of it is LLA. 3)The image Tommy did correlating to the new production could be either a loose tie in to what the movie is about, like what many artist do with comic book covers. Sometimes the cover has little to do with what the content is inside. It can also be simply art to throw people off, and like some have speculated, art that was done awhile ago, and decided to put some use to it. Of course, it could also be directly what the story is, and be new animation. I'm not making the statements of what is as fact, but I'm gonna trust in it to some extent, and simply wait and see. If I'm wrong, it doesn't matter, if I'm right, still doesn't really matter. All speculation.
  10. I can't say for certain, only go by what info has been given to me from credible sources. I have some confidence that the 2011 project will be done. If it's done in time or not, only time will tell, but I'm thinking they are gonna put this and the documentary on one DVD, if not, put it as an online product. I mean let's face it, who's gonna pay $20 for a one episode DVD. Now, add the show, and throw in a documentary, then you have added value to more Robotech fans.
  11. Today I finally got around to starting the front of the Valkyrie. I'll be working from back to front on the nose. I will post pics tomorrow on how the leg connector harness will work, but I have figured out how I'm gonna make the swivel nose connect in battroid. Once I clean up a couple things, I'll seal up the cockpit and then start forming the framework in styrene for the nose. Little nervous about it as I've never really worked on a project this complex before, but if it works out with this section, the rest should be easy cakework. Still debating if I wanna create a custom head, or replicate the original Platypus head unit. I kinda wann put my own mark on this, and using the Patlabor head just as is right now is an awesome looking start IMO. What do you guys think about the head unit?
  12. I think my father approved of it and was fine with it once he put it all in perspective. I have a wife, great job, nice car, and with all that, can still afford to put away and still collect. Don't get me wrong, I don't question people and their sports hobbies. I am an avid football and basketball fan, so I know how fun that can be. Most collectors don't buy stuff for the resale value, either. It's nice at times, but it's the satisfaction of getting something you've been looking for, waiting for, and the thrill of the hunt. And to answer the question of decals, I don't put on the decals, unless I'm customizing a toy, then I'll make it more realistic, but other than that, they stay as they came out of the box. Anyone else got any pics of their displays?
  13. What panels are you doing? We'll probably be there.
  14. To expect any HG member to really say that their product is wavering, that the LAM may or maynot get made, they're never gonna say that. That's why you can't believe what they say all the time. To find the truth in the "health" of the franchise, you only need look around and come to your own conclusion. Comics not selling in U.S., no forward progress of the LAM seen or heard, Shadow Rising on hold, etc, etc. Oh, and on "3 projects being worked on at the same time"...see below... This, I find funny. They supposedly have 3 projects being worked on at the same time. The truth is, LAM is still in the stage of deciding if they're gonna make it or not. Shadow Rising is no go as of now, even though they kepts saying that it was still being worked on. They've pretty much backed off on saying that. Then you have the 2011 animation, which is simply redubbing animation that's already made. A few of us got info that it was gonna be from Love Live Alive, so, that is a hit or miss. Then you have a "Robotech documentary", which is nothing really more than an extra on a DVD, and something that seemed to be more a documentary on Carl Macek. Now that they're calling it a Robotech documentary, it seems like it's gonna be more of a Robotech advertising tool, or probably still a DVD extra. So really, as of now, that leaves the 2011 animation, which is only cut and paste work with new voices. I remember Matchbox doing their own cut and paste VHS tapes for the toys in a show they called Robotech Wars. I don't think it took them a year to put it together, but to call a project like that new animation is misleading. It'd be interesting if I were wrong about that, but again, we'll see.
  15. My father used to give me a hard time like that several years ago and asked me the same thing. However, the counter to that was the fact that my interest was the catalyst for meeting my beautiful wife, and the reason why I have an even broader group of friends than I had before. Not that number of friends mattered, cause I have lots, but my parents have met some really good friends of mine and have been impressed with them. I think the wife was what put it all in perspective. It's not just about the collections, but about collaborating, and sharing interests with other friends and all. In that context, is it really that crazy? How many guys collect junk cars, or spend time collecting tools they'll hardly ever use? It's all perspective.
  16. I've been once. It's a small anime convention, and the vendors aren't in large numbers, but they're more open to negotiating deals. There's still lots of cosplayers and other stuff, like gaming room, video rooms, and panels. It's at least worth a visit once.
  17. Wow, didn't expect this much to come into this thread. I guess that makes 3 more people indirectly verifying what I've been saying about all this. Nevertheless, to those that I've disclosed the backstory, there the basis of it is. I'm sure with all this, will come the peanut gallery in an attempt to change all this around or whatnot. Perhaps there will be an "emergency podcast" so they can bring all the "brilliant" minds together to agree that people are posting here. In the end, a lot of this could've been avoided, but some people just can't let things go. It's all ripples in a pond, and will pass in time.
  18. Awesome pics all...I'd post up my small little collection, but it's stashed in boxes, and not display ready. Waiting to move into the house. Some of you know the stuff I have, and most, if not all of it, has been shown. Keep those pics coming.
  19. Yes, I had to tell the truth, especially since Memo went on a tirade to say I got it from Tom. Truth be told, if I did get it from Tom, it would've never seen the light of day here. It just doesn't make any sense for me to do that. And at this stage of the game, I can really careless about being a hero, or villain to those guys. It's a freakin' image, nothing more or less. I find the whole frantic runaround on rtx.com to be pretty damn funny, in a strange sick sense. If you read on that particular thread there, even rtsurfer mentions the tendency Memo has to leak out information. But yeah, I agree, it would've been nice if the discussion could've just stayed on the subject and not someone making up more conspiracies on some big plot to bring down Robotech. Poor, tortured souls...they inflict their own injuries on themselves.
  20. Rewatching Tenchi Muyo: GXP. This series is just so damn funny, always puts me in a good mood, no matter how crappy of a day I have. I've got about 20 titles I haven't started watching yet, so I should get into those afterward.
  21. Well, if I get a C&D from HG, they'll probably go out to that person as well. If they wanted the image down, I think they would've contacted me to take them down. The fact that it's been awhile already, they're probably glad that I'm indirectly promoting interest in new Robotech mecha. Didn't really think of that till now, but oh well. My opinion is stil that it's good stuff.
  22. Damn, I thought there was new pics, or new info. But, maybe the G-Man can fill us in on the status of this. With a decent price and the product materials it's made out of, it should be an easy, and within budget purchase for many. Who doesn't want a Britai beating on Hikaru's 1J, or some type of figure they can do like that?
  23. You should let the leaks occur, let them come from everywhere, I'm sure no matter where they come from, even if from Memo through Tommy, it'll somehow be Tom Bateman's fault. Miami does sound like a fun place to have a party though, sun, bikinis, and Valkyries galore. We could have a Valk girl competition.
  24. For resin kits, I usually wash them in Simple Green. It's great for sucking the oils and release agent off of recasts, and my highly recommended product to first use. I put that in, with some cold water, and use a soft toothbrush to scrub. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water (cold to avoid any chance of resin warp).
