  1. Is it just me, or does the Hakuna Aoba character look like Holland from Eureka 7??? I'm off to pick up my copies of the newest issue. Should be interesting.
  2. Best Minmay hands down IMO http://blogs.laweekly.com/stylecouncil/MacrossWorld-28.jpg I'd probably say next in line afterwards are the Yellow Submarine versions. All 3 hard to find, and all 3 very expensive.
  3. This is one of my more highly anticipated toys of the year. I'm very happy with the way the sculpt looks. Can't wait till they have even more pics of it in the near future. Thanks for putting up the pics.
  4. Ahhh, but you know, Tommy does a lot of retcons, so why not retcon the facts? Also, while he'd rather put down a group of people based on their race, those first designs of Ariel are Tommy's, or more specifically, Studio Yune. Like most series, fans are always gonna have their own ideas of how things work, how the story goes, and whatnot, especially when their isn't a lot of official data given. What's worse, is that Robotech has 3 sources that all conflict, that the fandom goes with. Some use the McKinney books, some the RPGs, some the t.v. series (as vague as that is). Most of the "official" facts from Robotech are usually not written, but spoken by the staff, mainly Tommy, and more times than not, it's a retcon of the official stuff, or still not enough info to hammer anything down. Because of that, what most fans use as proof, is all speculation at best. There is no one fanfic opinion that fits all, and I wouldn't expect there to be. Fandom is a tricky thing sometimes. There's that fine line between fans and the lunatic fringe. I don't need to explain it, cause there's a few in the rt community that give us prime examples of the difference almost everyday.
  5. I love the VF-2, and this paint job is an inspiration to get off my ass and start doing more of my hibernating kits. I swear, if they make this as a toy, I would love to see a toy in those colors. Fantastic little modifications you made, and great detail work on the paint, weathering, and decals.
  6. OK, that was gonna be my other theory. As it seems most of the Zentraedi ships have an organic type of look to them, and you see Bodolza is, for the most part, fully integrated into his ship, perhaps the higher up you rank, the more integrated modifications need to be made to the commanders to be in control of their respective fleets. I think that could be just as viable as a genetic defect that eventually gets an enhancement due to the fact that Zentraedi seem to not know much of genetics, as they were made for war. Could be whatever genetic mistakes were made after the Protoculture disappeared, the cloning process would just replicate it over and over, and they would just have to install implants and the sort to correct the problems. They're two pretty good theories I guess. With no solid story to it, I guess we can just make up our own. It's cool to hear the different ideas. They are quite fascinating.
  7. You forgot the secret chunky butts and big boob enhanced weapon. It runs off of protoculture and can be used to shield the Haydonite attacks.
  8. Somehow this became the airbrush + paint thread, but I love the Iwata HB-c. Gravity fed, and easy as pie to clean with a good thinner. I'm going to be trying some new paint soon, probably Mr Color I think, as one of my buddies suggested trying it. Can't hurt running at least one color through the airbrush with it.
  9. It seems like it was written by someone who just did an internet search for some random "anime" and just put some sort of wikipedia definition of the titles up in some ill-conceived list. Oh well, not like it's really gonna boost anything robotech related. And Gubaba, I find it funny that they'd start throwing out way off-based theories. Usually the simplest, most logical reason is the best, and trying to come up with theories to validate a lost argument just looks bad on their part.
  10. I thought of making the tailfins be able to pivot, but after these test shots, the tailfins are quite long, and if they pivot, they'd give the valkyrie a lot less posability in Battroid, as they'd overlap the legs and cause the fins to knock each other while "walking". Today will be more sanding of the nose, and more work on the backplate modification. I'm trying to work a way that will allow the new modded backpack to lock onto the rear of the back, so that it is held nice and tight. I may construct a slide for the lock that is already part of the kit.
  11. PHOTO UPDATE!!! OK, I've test fitted the legs with the tailfins on them, and they are a bit low. I am either going to slide up the tailfins a bit, make them a bit smaller so that they don't come so cloes to the bottom of the feet, or both. as far as everything else, it's still coming along. Let me know what you guys think. anyways, here you go.
  12. Isn't there a toy of this?
  13. Put me in the owning 1 category.
  14. But that's their M.O. They can't clear their own bowels, how do you expect to have them clear rumors one way or another? It's like at a panel last year, when they did their "convention tour". They listed all the people "working" on the LAM. They still had Lawrence Kasdan working on the product, as well as every other writer. Even after it's been noted and on record that he wrote for the picture, and no longer is. They like to confuse the not-so informed, to get all the accolades and praise they can, while at the same time, destroying their credibility to tell the truth. I guess their goal is, the more confused one is about the projects they're doing, the better they can look and the more fascinated you'll become when and if they actually do something. In my opinion, omitting the truth is just as much a lie as telling one. Then again, they may just not know, since HG has nothing to do with what WB is doing. In that case, they'd have to fess up that they really have no part in the LAM, another thing they've been real key at trying to promote that isn't true.
  15. I've never tried the Future,,,EVER. Not that I wouldn't, but I've used the Model Master dullcote from spraycan and from airbrush, and both have done well for me. For decal work, I do seal it in a clearcoat first, but I've used the Model Master stuff for years, and none of my finished kits had issues with yellowing, or cracks, or anything like that. they still look rather new IMO. I've won a couple awards using that method, so it's all a matter of preference. I don't think there is a be all, end all to the Future polish stuff. some people only use it, and it works. Model building is like a walk to the store. There's many routes you can take, but eventually, we all get there.
  16. Derex, that is a very nice, and neatly organized Macross, and Mospeada display. Very impressive. Back in the day, I used to have all my toys organized as such, but long gone are those days. I used to be able to fit just about the entire collection into 3 Detolfs, but now, I'd need about 6 or 7. Hopefully this year if we get a house, I'll be buying better display cabinets, and will have it all out on display, and I can contribute more to this thread than just comments and being so envious of everyone's bad@ss displays. Keep em coming.
  17. You are correct, there was a game called EDF. Even though they are denying that this EDF movie is based off the game, I think it is, and is probably more of what it's going to be about than Robotech.
  18. Yesterday was a big day for this project. I've created a stopper for the rectangle gap that is on the leg connector, began sculpting the front of the nose (will require lots of sanding and work), and put the tail fins on the legs. I may need to adjust the location of the tail fins, and it will not work in GERWAlK, but depending on the aesthetics, it may have to be some give and take. I've also started on the backpack module. Right now, I'm cutting the styrene pieces, and will hopefully have the frame of it done by tomorrow. Also, if anyone does recasting, and is willing to recast their 1/60 V2 Ostrich or Elintseeker wings, please let me know here or pm me. I may have stuff to trade for them, or can pay.
  19. No, it's not. The EDF movie is no indication that it's Robotech. Here's why I believe EDF isn't Robotech, and why they'd use the Robotech name and not some alternate (if the movie was gonna be made). For one, EDF, while similar in that it deals with alien invasion on earth and humans fight back, if WB wanted to make Robotech into EDF, why would they spend money on the rights to Robotech? Why waste money on licensing a name that they aren't going to use? They certainly didn't need to buy the rights of Robotech to make this EDF. It'd be like buying a vintage toy, then throwing it out because you wanted to make a toy that has some similarities, but is nothing like the original. Just doesn't make too much sense. Secondly, why would WB buy the name? Yeah, perhaps they want to keep the franchise from anyone else getting their hands on it, but then, that would mean that Roboteh movie will sit on the shelf for a looooonnnnngggg time. If they're going to make Robotech, they might as well use it, especially since various websites have mentioned that WB acquired the rights to the Robotech name. I just don't see EDF as being Robotech. Now, I know Robotech fans wanna make the connection, but seriously, that would be more of a detriment to the Robotech franchise, to have it remarketed as a different title, and a full reboot with little connection to the original. I assume that any type of sci-fi movie with aliens is gonna be linked to Robotech by the fans. They have no news of anything from WB (face it, HG just isn't involved in the LAM) and they should expect that. However, this, trying to connect the dots, is going to go on and on until the news comes out on the actual title being made or not.
  20. If there's no explanation, and it's on other clones, my explanation would be maybe a defect of the clone, but due to it's effectiveness as a leader, the faceplate is used as a fix to the genetic defect. I can't really think of any other reason why it'd be on all the clones, but perhaps there's another explanation, or maybe even one given in some book. It'd be cool if anyone knows the real explanation.
  21. Hahaha, I'm not stealing if it's given to me by a fan, but whatever. He can try to legitimize the arguments all he wants, still doesn't change the facts, nor does it make what we've all said wrong, or make him right. He probably needs to do those podcast to convince himself, although, what it's really doing is proving all the points made against him. The irony in it all.
  22. For those of you who don't like Robotech, I don't think you need to be an advocate against it: http://disciplesofzor.com/topic/2979/Robotech-fan-podcast As you can see, the supposed Number one Robotech fan is your biggest advocate and is destroying Robotech and the fandom for you. I mean, while the topic was lightly brought up by Darkwater, what kind of idiot would start posting up pics of victims of a recent shooting, and try to use it to forward their own agenda in regards to a cartoon? I get blown away by the idiot fringe of groupies that make the Robotech franchise so parasitic and diseased.
  23. All I know, is that there are a couple items I want to pick up. Now is probably the best time to go forward with that.
  24. This is one of the things that bothers me with Robotech. They're "stringing along" the audience with a story that is old, and while the books and comics may not be canon, there is a sense of it wrapping up. With Shadow Chronicles, they forsake a good story and rehash characters just to pull fans into this continuation of the same thing. the idea that they can't, or don't want to start a completely new series or new series that doesn't deal with finding some stupid ship is, well, annoying, to put it lightly. What's great with Macross, and a smarter way of keeping a story alive, is to actually wrap up a series, then start a new one, but continue to show and have references to the older ones. This makes a list of new characters, new mecha, new story, new music, and new merchandise to make. It takes you on the roller coaster ride of a story all over again, and again, and again. The idea of waiting over 20 years to see a continuation of episode 85 for Robotech, and having it just be a tease to the fans, is kinda insulting. While I understand what they're trying to do, as far as keeping fans involved in the story, a much better approach would've been to wrap up the search for the SDF-3, and write in a whole new story and less rehashed characters for fans to reinvest in. Of course, this is my opinion, but the general consensus I get from Robotech fans on various sides of the spectrum more or less concede to that idea. From the way it looks, Shadow Rising will continue with the same old "where's the SDF-3" question. As Dave Chapelle used to say in one of his skits, "WRAP IT UP, B!"
  25. Incredibly awesome!!! Almost makes me wanna flash animate it and add some Beavis and Butthead lines to it. As for the Milia pic, damn, that's a HOT pic!!! It could be colored just a tad better, but it's a very nice job.
