If there's no explanation, and it's on other clones, my explanation would be maybe a defect of the clone, but due to it's effectiveness as a leader, the faceplate is used as a fix to the genetic defect. I can't really think of any other reason why it'd be on all the clones, but perhaps there's another explanation, or maybe even one given in some book. It'd be cool if anyone knows the real explanation.

Hahaha, I'm not stealing if it's given to me by a fan, but whatever. He can try to legitimize the arguments all he wants, still doesn't change the facts, nor does it make what we've all said wrong, or make him right. He probably needs to do those podcast to convince himself, although, what it's really doing is proving all the points made against him. The irony in it all.

For those of you who don't like Robotech, I don't think you need to be an advocate against it: http://disciplesofzor.com/topic/2979/Robotech-fan-podcast As you can see, the supposed Number one Robotech fan is your biggest advocate and is destroying Robotech and the fandom for you. I mean, while the topic was lightly brought up by Darkwater, what kind of idiot would start posting up pics of victims of a recent shooting, and try to use it to forward their own agenda in regards to a cartoon? I get blown away by the idiot fringe of groupies that make the Robotech franchise so parasitic and diseased.

All I know, is that there are a couple items I want to pick up. Now is probably the best time to go forward with that.

This is one of the things that bothers me with Robotech. They're "stringing along" the audience with a story that is old, and while the books and comics may not be canon, there is a sense of it wrapping up. With Shadow Chronicles, they forsake a good story and rehash characters just to pull fans into this continuation of the same thing. the idea that they can't, or don't want to start a completely new series or new series that doesn't deal with finding some stupid ship is, well, annoying, to put it lightly. What's great with Macross, and a smarter way of keeping a story alive, is to actually wrap up a series, then start a new one, but continue to show and have references to the older ones. This makes a list of new characters, new mecha, new story, new music, and new merchandise to make. It takes you on the roller coaster ride of a story all over again, and again, and again. The idea of waiting over 20 years to see a continuation of episode 85 for Robotech, and having it just be a tease to the fans, is kinda insulting. While I understand what they're trying to do, as far as keeping fans involved in the story, a much better approach would've been to wrap up the search for the SDF-3, and write in a whole new story and less rehashed characters for fans to reinvest in. Of course, this is my opinion, but the general consensus I get from Robotech fans on various sides of the spectrum more or less concede to that idea. From the way it looks, Shadow Rising will continue with the same old "where's the SDF-3" question. As Dave Chapelle used to say in one of his skits, "WRAP IT UP, B!"

Incredibly awesome!!! Almost makes me wanna flash animate it and add some Beavis and Butthead lines to it. As for the Milia pic, damn, that's a HOT pic!!! It could be colored just a tad better, but it's a very nice job.

Send me a pm on what you're interested in. I have the head I used the neckpiece for, and a completely unassembled one. While I don't plan to use either, I haven't decided if I want to use one as a head swap for one of my other Yamatos, or as another custome work. Thanks for the comment. After that test fit, transformation, and photo, I realized that while the transformation does work, and works just as well as the normal transformation, the sides of the new nose that go just under the cockpit limit the upper leg/thigh positions I can give it. Because of that, I redid that section of the nose extension, and have it curved on top and below, to allow the tapered section to let the legs move. I drafted a simple, but very effective base plate for it, and it seems to work much better (as well as looks a bit more clean). Thanks to EXO's sculpting wax, I was able to test out the dimensions of the new nose, and to see just how easy the transformation would be (and for any unforseen issues). Turns out, there are none, so I am now going to get on with sculpting the nose after building a basic frame for it. I will also be clamping the socket piece that connects the nose to the cockpit, and it will leave it with a permanent fixed nose. Got a lot to do, so I will post up pics, hopefully somewhat soon.

He can't have Tommy as a hero. As someone pointed out to me, he's gone on record saying that Asians have contributed nothing to world culture. Forget how much of the world market is shaped by consumer goods made in the Asia markets, forget the countless books, I Ching, Art of War, and countless scrolls and writings by some of the worlds greatest leaders of past. Let's also forget that the very basis of his existence, which supposedly is Robotech, which calculates to his personal culture, was made by Japanese. On the subject of padding the numbers, I'm sure the illegal downloads of the Macross Frontier songs pad it, as well as him and 1 or 2 supporters hitting refresh over and over. Wonder if it also has to do with a sort of meta tag like script that when people search for specific Robotech songs, or Macross songs, the podcast come up as itunes, and then count as a download. Yes, Itunes and talkshoe are different, but when that record is pulled from itunes, doesn't it still have to be fulled from the talkshoe server that stores the recordings? Geez, it can be a conbination of a few things, but in any case, the fact that it's done through other means other than just having that many fans invalidates the entire claim, no matter how hard he tries to skirt the issue, dodge the question, or name call. And yes, having 6 people on live out of a supposed 6000 is a very good and credible indicator of all this. You mean to tell me only .1% of the entire "lessoners" are the only ones who listen live? Yeah, keep telling yourself that you have that many till you believe it yourself. I don't know anyone who does, and those that just go along with that belief of his, the 3 or 4 that do, all I can do is laugh at them as well.

I like how he put up some pics of some character standing on a pile of rubble, and then writes below that "The only possible out come for those who oppose robotech fan." So, I guess that means people are gonna destroy him and stand on top of his pile of broken dreams. He also posted up a lot more of his padded numbers too. Basically, his entire made up world is only legit for him, while most of us who even know about his show, which doesn't seem like many, (less from Robotech fans) know that his arguments are all invalid before he even opens his mouth about it.

What nationality is Vince Grant again? Cause that is the tannest white man I've seen in any anime.

The Wave BJ05 joint sets are what the balljoint sections are made from. I ordered a bunch of them, and used them all, but I may just get more of them for other projects. So far, I'm liking these soldiers, and wish they weren't so rare, or expensive. I'd get several and just mass build them.

I know I've been out of this thread for awhile, but here's one of the later pics I'll be posting up until the nose is done. Here's a test shot with the base of the wide nose extending under the cockpit, this is all trial sized stuff, and is easily reshapable. Thanks to <EXO> for the sculpting product. What's most important in all this, is not the sculpting stuff, but...proof that the nose configuration I've devised indeed works. I'll probably do a "How it was done after the project is done, but for now, here's the messy pic of it standing. As always, thoughts, ideas, and comments always welcome.

Thanks, buddy. I'm pretty sure I've used them before, on a WWII ship I did a number of years ago. It does dry pretty fast, which can be a double edged sword, but the colors came out well. I too, agree on the slightly grey tint to the white. That was something I was gonna look for, or even mix myself, but that color looks pretty good. There's two hobby shops and an art store by me, so I'll begin after my Platypus is finished. Oh, one last question, did you use primer? This HDP material seems to be a little more viscous than the POM or ABS stuff, and was wondering if it needs the regular primer. Thanks for responding.

They're great for a day out motorboating, LMAO!!! But seriously, showgirls from outerspace is the subtitle they shoulda given RT. They must keep the wallets in crevasses of the body, but that must make the plastic cards either stinky, or really sweaty, Hahaha. They're just trying to imitate Batman and his utility belt. Hey, maybe they have the wallet in the belt and that's what the belt is for, to carry your cash, ID, SSN, Driver's lic., stale cheetos, VHS rental card, and condoms. "Brown Chickent Brown Cow!!!"

Looks awesome!!! I was thinking of similar colors, and was told that in the model section, they have a paint mixing guide for the kit that looks pretty good. Did you detail the inside of your Regult, and what brand and type of paint did you use?

You sir, need a girlfriend, Hahaha. In regards to all the 1/60 enemy figures, technically, they made a 1/60 Milia figure, although, it's be nice if it was posable. If they did make the britai, I'd be happy with that. But the concept of the enemy figures is a nice concept, and if they did the set of the major figures, it'd be another set of things to collect, not just some one piece item and not some exclusive.

RAs I said in my last post, $h!t on a stick and put a Robotech label on it. I wonder just how the store is doing compared to when Tom was running it. Tom, I'm sure you would've fought that one. However, if you had to put it in the RT store, would you have made a minimum order? If you had to create a different product to sell with a similar price point, what would you have sold? It's one thing buying trinkets and little nicknacks here and there for a show. There is so many items to choose from, so MacF has that freedom to sell just about anything they can, from Manju, to drinks, to keychains, to full blown toys, figures, statues, model kits, etc. But when you're supposedly a big franchise and doing so well, and all you can do is try to sell a $5 wallet for $18 and only have a far limited list of like items, don't try to tell me that the franchise is doing oh so well, and they keep trying to cram all this unwanted Shadow Chronicles crap down the fan's throats. It must be frustrating to have a "new film" out, and nobody wants to really buy the crap associated with it, but the Macross stuff sells, and people ask for more of that, along with Southern Cross and Mospeada merchandise. I wonder how they feel knowing that the work they've done, while actually finishing a film, has had so many criticisms with it. It's much more than they expected, I"m sure.

Unfortunately, it's that attitude that makes people not wanna share with you in the first place.

I think you're missing the point people are making with Shadow Chronicles. When you talk about Sheryl and Ranka as a supposed Minmay, Alto as a Hikaru, Max, and all that, Macross is borrowing from itself, and using different characters, and putting them in a whole new story. There's usually no harm, no foul for borrowing from your own series. Also to even say "Robotech did that first" when it comes to the virtual singer is kinda ignorant. At least you did mention that singer as being from Megazone 23. And yes, Vince Grant isn't necessarily the same as Edgar La Salle. Yes, we are talking about two timelines and story arcs that are close to each other, so there is going to be some bumping together. Vince Grant is a ship commander, Edgar is a RIO operator to Shin in Macross Zero. Also, as Azrael pointed out, it's never discussed as to what relation Edgar has with Claudia. What I get from most people that have criticized Shadow Chronicles as being unoriginal, or recycling ideas. Some of that stems from the fact that they are still using the same characters and mecha as was done over 25 years ago. In that sense, it is very unoriginal and recycled, not to mention lazy and shows lack of any creativity. Many Mospeada, Macross, and Robotech fans think that way about Shadow Chronicles. I'm one of them. Also, the idea that Shadow Chronicles dumbs down the plot of the first 3 series, and simply repeats it with said same characters, same mecha, is another recycling and unoriginal point. This is where I believe Carl came up with Sentinels. the series had exhausted its "aliens invade earth" plotline, and was going to explore the idea of the REF travelling the galaxy to find the Robotech Masters. However, RTSC takes this approach of doing the exact same plotline as the first 3 because they couldn't create anything bigger and more original. The ideas for what RTSC has become goes straight to the top, the one who has to be in total control of it. I don't think it's an issue of similar ideas and whatnot. I only know a few RT fans who try to take this "Macross borrows from Robotech" argument to the umpteenth level. To try to nitpick that small, and not to be a derogatory towards Robotech, but the entire series is basically a recycle of the original 3 series. To say that Macross borrows from Robotech, you might as well say that Macross borrows from itself. To try to say that Macross Frontier copies original Macross, in many ways yes, but it's allowed to. To call it unoriginal is probably just a tad bit overdoing it, but it's your opinion. Lots of similarities, but placed in very different time, place, characters. Those similarities were done on purpose, and the viewer who's informed of the previous series of Macross usually knows that. I've heard the expression "At least they are giving us more Robotech", and if that's the case, they might as well $h!t on a stick and put a Robotech label on it. Hey, at least they gave you something.

I do find it funny when they call people who like both Macross Purists. By that token, the Robotech mods are self proclaimed Macross Purists. But seriously, they try to use that term, as if it's some derogatory remark, and it really isn't. Going by a logical definition, it's one that simply believes that Macross should remain pure (almost a vague and undefining term really). I laughed because for their next podcast, "Memaverick" is going to have a mutual friend go on the show and talk about his thoughts on the movie, and casting speculation. As I just hung out with that person they're bringing on, I know he's a big fan of Macross, and even bought the Malaysian bootleg version of Macross Frontier. By their standards, they would disavow ever knowing said person because of that, but in reality, it just shows they don't even know their own direction. It's one of those terms that really doesn't mean much of anything, so it really only means the most to whom it's directed at. If I'm one, I guess it means a good thing, even if I like both Robotech and Macross. Go figure.

Are there release dates for these? I'd like to make sure they are ordered from Kinokuniya.

Zen72/JT, is by no means a troll. He's posted several times in this thread, or one of the previous in the super thread. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, as it is related to Robotech, and does relate to some of the topics here, like the LAM, some drama, and acknowledging the original series. Yes, you can be a total Robotech fan, and engage in the discussions here, and not be hated. There are other Robotech fans who post in here and in other threads, and all are welcome. It's only been when they come here only to insight flame wars and such, and spam, both of which Zen72 hasn't violated. Now, in regards to the Regent, I do agree that he was one of the more badass villains of Robotech. At least in the novels, he wasn't so complicated, like they try now to do with EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the entire franchise. They have so much empty backstory on every character, and everyone is so closely related, it confines the large story that's there, but that's the problem with the current writing and such. It's why after the original 85 and Sentinels, I really don't like anything after. Shadow Chronicles is just one glorified "buy me cause I character drop" show, with no content. Had they actually created more characters with no affiliation to the previous shows, it would've been better, but it's a problem that they've forced themselves into long ago. The great thing about Macross, is that while there seems to be at least one character that is related to a previous series, OVA, movie, or whatnot, the shows don't stick to one central character. It's a big franchise, and to confine it with a drawn out plot of what happened to some damn ship like in Robotech is doing it a disservice. Also, what has been discussed here as well, is that the issue of confining the franchise also shows a lack of creativity. Even though Sentinels was hoaky, and had some issues that weren't so great, at least it was more of an attempt at branching out, than staying retracted in a small box. I think Carl at least knew that Robotech needed expansion beyond the original episodes. People can agree or disagree, it's my opinion on that. I'm not debating if Carl was a great story teller or not, as I can only go off of all the info I have, which isn't much. It's just an observation on the two different approaches of Tommy and Carl. Personally, I'd rather have the hoaky "saturday morning cartoon" Sentinels that's over the top and grand in some sense, over the current story that tries too hard, seems forced, and lacks any effort.
-
Even better. Will you post pics here, or are they gonna stay in the other thread?
-
I think for the time that Sentinels was supposed to air, it would've been a success. It was around the time that not too many people knew of Robotech's original shows, and didn't know, or care, that it was pieced all together from those 3 series. Robotech was still somewhat popular, and had a toyline, even if it was a pretty shoddy toyline. To say what would/could/should've happened if Sentinels made it completely through is a lot of speculation and opinion. It would've changed how we all view Robotech today for certain, but to what extent is anyone's guess. Most look at it now, and look through RT: Art 3 and comment on how bad it would've been, but that's us after the exposure to what we know now. Perhaps it would've been well loved, if even for a short time, had it made syndication. If you talk of ripples of change creating tidal waves on the other side of the pond, this would've given Carl Macek much more clout at HG possibly, and the timing at which he departed from HG would've been different, if at all. In that case, would Tommy, Steve have ever made it there? Would there be a Shadow Rising, and what would the face of Robotech today look because of that? The door of possiblity is almost endless. Oh, and in regards to RT the Sentinels, I actually kinda enjoyed it, in its hoaky kinda way. It sure as hell had more thought put into it than Shadow Chronicles and the way Robotech is now. Hell, I like The Untold Story better than Shadow Chronicles. That's really reaching the bottom of the barrel.

If you do them seperately, I'll pick and choose. Probably should save after the Christmas spending and such. Will definitely look forward to some vehicles to go with my Yamato valks. Can somebody say "Diorama"?
