  1. I have a feeling that as this 2011 or whatever project gets closer, the staff is gonna claim that they did all this to show how much they love the fans (after jerking them around for years). Then they'll go on some tirade, putting down every fan who questioned if this thing was ever going to come out in Kevin's own derogatory manner. Then the Banhammer will come by again if people start harshly criticizing the piece...Hey doesn't that soud like Shadow Chronicles??? I wonder if they'll even have a repeat issue with getting a distributor, if they go that direction?
  2. I wouldn't mind seeing a series for the 30th anniversary, but M7? No. I like M7, but not that much. I'd rather see a redo of original Macross like what Macross the First is doing. But, truth be told, I think Macross is sailing quite high with Macross Frontier, and I expect they won't want to move onto other series and have to compete with its own series.
  3. While M7 wasn't too popular amongst fans here in the West, I've heard it was quite popular in Japan. That said, I hope all those who were fans of that show buy this toy, and open it up to other variants with this mold. I really want a VF-19 from VFX-2 Ravens video game. The Blazer Valk would be nice as well. I'm liking the Basara version quite well, and I can't wait to see production pics of it. Those gaps and such should be fixed by then??? (fingers crossed)
  4. Maybe some here should buy Crayons and read the colors that are on the paper wrapped around them. This thing is RED. It may be subjective as to what shade, but it's RED. If that is "pink" then what is pink actually called when it's present?
  5. Thanks...lots of stuff to eventually read up on.
  6. Just now got the new Dengeki Hobby mag, and the new VF-1 is quite awesome. If anyone translates the specs on it, please put it up somewhere here. I also love the new characters.
  7. Love that book. It's got some very nice art in there. I love how each character in there has their own distinct look, their own distinct character. It really shows just how much talent Mikimoto has. He needs an updated book, especially doing the Gunam and Macross art as of recent.
  8. Freakin' awesome. Love that Sheryl figure. I am in for that.
  9. Well, that's at least some good news. I do hope they make the arms at least moveable. If not, I maybe doing some modifications to it.
  10. My Yamato VMF Minmay and the Chinese dress. The doll may not be necessarily one of a kind, but the dress is. I guess if it was a choice between being homeless and hungry, there's no question there, but it's one of the prized Macross possessions. Of course, then there's the 1/1 helmets, and the Gold Book.
  11. That's pretty cool for the 1/48s. Any chance of doing these for the 1/60? If so, I'll be buying many multiples.
  12. Milia was a busy woman on and off that tarmac. I'd like to see a story of the daughters as well. Hot older daughters in combat with different valks and mecha. Man, I need to wipe the drool, hahahah. The Minmay pic is super hot.
  13. I believe they were trying to appease Macross fans by getting Macross 7 Trash Manga over here. While it would've been cool to see it in English, I'm also just fine with the fact that HG didn't have a hand in it. They seem to pollute everything they touch as of recent (and I mean going back for a long time). I've heard that rumor before of using the show, but I'm sure that's all it was, just a rumor. Besides, even if they tried, I don't think there'd be enough footage to make Gamlin into the main character and still look decent. I've skimmed through that thread on rtx.com, as well as many, many others, and it's the same old garbage. Ps99042 and rtsurfer bring out all valid points, and the only comeback is spin talk and empty rhetoric. It's probably like talking to a mule. I don't think you're going to have an intellectual conversation with it, at least not from the mule's side of things. They're there to simply do the work of it's owner and carry a bunch of crap on its back. If I had the energy to go on, I would, but why try to argue with them? They do enough damage to their own fandom and to the franchise they support already. As I've stated before, my goal is just to point out the stuff so we can all get a good laugh before we facepalm. In regards to the convention tour and getting to see new footage. Since no one really has described what this supposed "new footage" is as of yet, I'm starting to get the idea that they are wanting to hide something. Call it intuition, call it being down this road before, but if there was actually something, wouldn't people talk more about it, like they did with the picture of Sera in her Invid suit? As for Kevin, I don't think the Robotech panels are winning people over to the convention tour. Most regular RT panel goers can't remember anything different from one panel to the next. But, if he wants to push that route, and stay in that small comfort zone for them, all the better. It only shows that they're willing to market to a core fan group, and stay there. I wouldn't call him a marketing person by any means. Would you call someone experienced in marketing because they watch youtube videos, or are told what to do by others? Tom Bateman wasn't in the marketing part of the franchise, and did more for Robotech than Kevin. At least he had the smarts to put product up on sale, refer to fans on what they want with product, and bring that info to Toynami, and set up focus groups. I don't think any of it is really supposed to make sense. They're shooting in the dark, trying to hit a dime sized target.
  14. As noted above in a previous post, preorders back up. Just preordered mine. Looks much better than the DX 25s. I wasn't a fan of the 25s at all, but was able to enjoy and find much improvement on the 27. Hopefully this will follow suit, and we'll have an even better designed toy.
  15. How old is the picture? If it's an old picture that was only recently posted, I'd be a little made, but it looks pretty awesome, from what is visible. I hope this project is still alive and kickin'.
  16. Well, look at the most vocal of the fans that are still out there. Thy can't have a normal conversation without involving Robotech, they conjure of fantasies that they know all there is to know about the movie industry and everything that HG and Robotech is doing, they forsake common sense just for the belief that Robotech is going to be the newest and greatest thing since sliced bread, and their only friends a people who seem to agree with their feable reasoning. When does "crazyville proportions" start? I thought it was like that for many, for a long time now?
  17. No, nothing new. Just the same old stuff. Just a guy talking about the past and convincing himself that there's only a couple of people in the world who actually had issues with Robotech's direction. It was pretty boring, and IMO, it seemed like Tommy was kinda tired of talking about Carl, and about all that past stuff. He at least has more energy when talking about that stuff.
  18. I think either option is probably feasible for where Robotech should go. Still trying to pass of as anime is just misleading and a farse, and having done in animated Batman or Ben 10, or whatever is current and fitting a mecha show would be fine. At least it'd be out of the anime guise, and a good reboot would give it a sink or swim chance. If it just disappears into obscurity, I'd be OK with that too. It's sad for "enlightened Robotech fans" to see the garbage that it's become, and if it just died out, at least it'd be a good memory as a kid or whatever. Isn't this question posed every other page on this thread? I'm so tired of hearing about F!@#ing Astro Plan. No offense to you areaseven, but someone, let it go already.
  19. I wouldn't mind getting some PE parts, but is there better picks of all the parts included? I'm also not too big on a gold color. These seem more for the unpainted UNASSEMBLED kit. I'll probably bite, just for the sake of enhancing current projects.
  20. Can someone please help me to understand what the issue we are discussing here is? Are we talking about a moral debate of buying the official copy versus a scanlation, or politics of current book selling trends, or something else? I haven't been on this thread in awhile, and it seems like a little of all this is running into each other. I'm all for supporting the original product, even if I don't read Japanese. To me, I enjoy supporting a franchise that's given a lot of great product, stuff I grew up with. If people here aren't going to buy items because it's not in english, that's one's choice, but with that token, I'd almost say, don't demand that they make accomodations for you. English is a secondary market, and wishing, hoping, and demanding isn't going to show product viability in a secondary market. The only figures the Japanese companies like Satelite, BW, and Yamato can go off of, are sketchy sales figures, and informed guesstimations on people who don't buy anything, but maybe would if english was added to their products. Those are some of the things I'm trying to bring to the table to help, but it's a long road. It's also not as easy as just having one person decide to make these decisions. I won't go into details, cause we probably know most of it already, but sometimes to make your voice heard, you gotta put up the $. It's not like you're getting the raw end of the deal either. You get official Macross product.
  21. From what I know of the relationship between HG and Toynami, I'm guessing that Toynami is making the DYRL figures on their own, because they know what sells. I'm pretty sure HG isn't telling Toynami what to make and what not to make. My only hope is that they put a Macross Logo on it, and nothing of Robotech, as it would be non-canon to Robotech anyways. Toynami is a smart company, and they aren't going to make something they don't think will sell. That's why they'll never make the Southern Cross toys, even though they would be really cool to have.
  22. Today, I have finished what are the external tanks located on the back calf of the legs. All scribe tools have come in, and I've begun to sort out what I need to put lines on. Pretty soon, I will recast what I need to duplicate on this thing, and can then start the process of super clean-up, and paint. I still need to put the top piece to the backpack, but that can be done in a day or so. Almost there. I'll start on the decals soon, as well.
  23. Is this the 2nd version? I'd have to think about it. Can you send me a pm with the details?
  24. I think the web exclusives say a few things that haven't really been touched on, like the fact that Toynami has much smaller production runs. Of course, as most of us have seen and know, this makes the product possible to list as an "Exclusive", and also allows a higher price point. I know the price probably goes up in production with smaller runs, but also taking into account that these molds have all been done, the cost shouldn't be affected too much. This is one of the things that staff at HG use to avert people's eyes from. McKeever has many times claimed that all the Robotech product sells out, and is supposedly a cash cow. But when you're only producing say, 5000 units and you sell 4000, that's 80% of the entire run, and not too bad at all. then compare that to a company that makes, say, 100,000 units. If they sell 80,000 units, that's still 80%, but the gap in units sold/unsold is much larger. I thought that deal was essentially put on indefinite hold, or "hiatus" as HG would say?
  25. Awesome cels, jvmacross. This year, I'm looking to be able to buy some more Macross cels if they are available. It will also depend on if I can make a trip out to Japan this year.
