This could be a reference to Transformer like movies. Robo (robot) tech (tech, sci-fi) type movies at the time of the interview. If indeed, he is referring to Robotech, then how is it that he can only talk, but chickens out? The interview also mentions that he wants to do stuff he likes, and stuff that's going to make him happy if he's going to invest years into. If he was approached to possibly do Robotech, then I'd say that's holding true to his quotes on the interview. I think what's funny, is the assumption that Robotech is going to be this big time movie that's automatically going to give any director high credibility, and put them all the way to A+ directors. For all we know, and since speculation seems to be going one way in the fandom, perhaps the director saw the project, and saw a big pile of crap. Why invest time, and put your name on a "big movie" (if it is...) and associate your name to it if it's crap? I'm just sayin'... some people just don't think too far ahead of the game.

If that's indeed true, it's just them, trying to validate the franchise as something more desirable than it really is. While there's almost always similarities in various sci-fi series, movies, anime, etc., I usually hear some fans take things from any sci-fi series and say that they directly copied Robotech, even when there's 5 other series that resemble the series in question closer. Again, it seems more like a hollow cry to validate Robotech's importance in a world that seems to not really care about it. Things change, but at this moment in time, that's where things are at.

If you were at the damn AOD in SF, why would you need to get reports? Smells like spin and hype to me, but, whatever. Then in regards to what you posted about Richard Epcar's comment I think anyone, people who love Robotech to "haters" (funny saying that...anybody want some haterade???) is wondering the same thing. Let's deflate this even further. If there were 20, I'm willing to bet that at least 1/3 of them are "industry" people, and have free passes. I've always wondered why Tommy would keep around, someone who is really only making them take steps backward. Yes, I'll give credit to Kevin for pushing the convention tour, but how often and how long has that been somewhat ineffective? They spend all this time, and go to all these conventions, and it's nothing new. Aside from that work, can anyone really think of anything positively memorable that he's done? I don't ever recall anything more than acting like a "fanboy troll", what he likes to call people who have questions about their discrepancies.

Man, do you really wanna do all that to get hired for like $13/hr??? I'd rather see and hear about these unprofessional, and royal screw ups, than even try to act like I care. Tommy maybe severely skill challenged as a writer, or creative director, but he's probably smart enough to know not to hire sub minions to do what they do for free anyways. Besides, from what I am guessing, as Robotech continues in a stagnant state, and the economy shrank, I'm sure HG isn't looking to hire anyone, not that it'd be Tommy's choice anyways.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Kinda like Cancer sticks. It shoots cigarettes. I hope it comes with Fast packs, but knowing Bandai's inability to bundle the accessories until the product has been milked a few times, I'm not counting on it. -
While it's great to hear that friends and fellow members here in Japan are all reporting in safe, my heart, prayers, and thoughts are with those that have missing and lost family. I'll be donating for any relief efforts needed.

Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Jasonc replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Don't know if this article has been posted here yet, as I don't wanna go through pages of posts, but http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/features/arts/T110303006318.htm this is an overview and review article that I found interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing this. -
Is it just me, or do I find it funny that most of the people in HG staff, or mods always want proof of their stupidity? Instead, people should be asking them, "what proof do you have that you didn't say/do that?" Then follow it up by "If you're only proof is going to be your word, that's what's being questioned here." I've noticed that they just take off their muzzle, and just rant, bitch, yap, whatever, and it's supposed to be straight up truth. But when someone points out the inconsistencies, it's always "they're lying", "they're wrong", or "where's your proof to back up your claim". There were several people on rtx.com who were bringing up the subject of HG staff not being upfront, and lying about stuff before, and they were met with the same response of showing proof. The last 2 pages here are quite clear, and give just another example. Oh, and Chrisk, I totally agree, I laughed so hard at all this when it first came to my attention, I nearly had the water I was drinking get spit out.

There is only one pic that I'm aware of that is in both the Tenjin artbook and the Valkyries 2nd Sortie. That said, it's only one page. The other pages are just simply amazing. There are a couple that I want to make as posters. Just got mine today, and it's VERY well worth picking up. I have 2 of the original Valkyries books, I may get a 2nd one of these down the line.

Anime Expo 2011 LA Convention Center.
Jasonc replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
We'll be going this year, as we preordered the tix for $40 for the 4 day passes. I don't think I'll be wearing the Hikaru uniform, but we'll definitely be there. -
If he's gonna go on another tirade, it usually is a clear sign that he's been put between a rock and a hard place. I mean, c'mon. Tommy has mentioned Shadow Rising being on hold a few times, and here comes the underling to disrupt what has been a well known fact. Then, to do it in an attempt to try to ridicule "fanboys" and people who may even enjoy the franchise, but have concerns, way to disrespect and ridicule fans, HG. And you wonder why you're only stuck doing convention tours. Oh, you guys should screen capture that drama.

You could look at the Anime Expo 2010 footage on Youtube. If it's removed, then there maybe others. I suggest finding a way to save the files onto your hard drive. If it did go down, then it's many, many people's word against one or two. In either case, Tommy should be pissed that Kevin is stirring up trouble amongst the ranks, and putting them more in a hole than they were the day before.
-
Well, to catch Kevin in a flat out lie is funny as can be. I was there at Anime Expo 2010 when Tommy mentioned that due to Shadow Rising being put on hold for whatever reason, Carl gave them the idea to put new story out in other forms. Thus, it was the 2011 prject. Then, from the rt.com Kevin rant, he basically says that isn't true. So, either Kevin is a fat liar, or he's an idiot for not knowing what page everyone else is on, or a little of both. It's an either or question, and while he'll probably read this and try to put a spin on it somehow, maybe they should have a Robotech pow-wow, and get all the suck-up mods in, and figure out what they're doing wrong, and why the fans are pissed (not that it's too difficult). The left hand has no clue what the right hand is doing, and the right leg is trying to walk to the left, while the right is trying to take a few steps forward. That's how their business model looks to me, and has looked like that since well before Shadow Chronicles came out. Part of that chaos shows in the disaster of Shadow Chronicles.

First off, who the hell is their competitor??? Some show that nobody knows about? If he's referring to the other "competitors", like Transformers, Macross, Star Wars, stuff like that, then, yeah, they are spending money, but they're also making a buttload more than HG is on their franchises. I've not once heard Kevin name these so-called franchises. So, he also says that WB isn't preventing them from producing Shadow Rising??? Didn't Tommy say in effect that they aren't doing anything with it now due to the LAM??? So, either Kevin is lying, or he's flat out calling Tommy a liar? Either way, that makes the HG staff as lying...Uh, yeah, that's something new. I get such a great laugh at the obvious over-the-top attempt at trying o put a spin on what's going on. I'm not even gonna say what they should do or how they should act. First off, I don't work for them, so I could careless how they foul up their wording. Secondly, I find the attempt, at most, humorous. Thirdly, why would I, or any of us be the ones to tell them what common sense in a business setting should be?
-
If they make it as a completely fixed statue (unk at this time, but I do see that there is a gap between the shoulders and arms), it would totally be possible to customize this toy to make use of joints, either by Revoltech, or some other company. It'd take some work, but to do arms and head shouldn't be that big of a feat for even us common customizers.

I like Amiami's prices for their preorders. Most of the time, it's a great deal. I've bought the BD version of Frontier Movie from them I think for $53, and preordered the YF-29 for I think it was $125 or something like that. Don't quote me, but they're usually well priced. They price their stuff to move fast.

That's not a skirt son, that's an "I'm gonna kick your @$$ lab coat." The stick is to just give reference to that fact. He's gonna beat all my valks to a pulp.

I have a feeling that as this 2011 or whatever project gets closer, the staff is gonna claim that they did all this to show how much they love the fans (after jerking them around for years). Then they'll go on some tirade, putting down every fan who questioned if this thing was ever going to come out in Kevin's own derogatory manner. Then the Banhammer will come by again if people start harshly criticizing the piece...Hey doesn't that soud like Shadow Chronicles??? I wonder if they'll even have a repeat issue with getting a distributor, if they go that direction?

Animated cartoon "Macross 30" TV production hope!
Jasonc replied to Mari-ja's topic in Movies and TV Series
I wouldn't mind seeing a series for the 30th anniversary, but M7? No. I like M7, but not that much. I'd rather see a redo of original Macross like what Macross the First is doing. But, truth be told, I think Macross is sailing quite high with Macross Frontier, and I expect they won't want to move onto other series and have to compete with its own series. -
While M7 wasn't too popular amongst fans here in the West, I've heard it was quite popular in Japan. That said, I hope all those who were fans of that show buy this toy, and open it up to other variants with this mold. I really want a VF-19 from VFX-2 Ravens video game. The Blazer Valk would be nice as well. I'm liking the Basara version quite well, and I can't wait to see production pics of it. Those gaps and such should be fixed by then??? (fingers crossed)

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Maybe some here should buy Crayons and read the colors that are on the paper wrapped around them. This thing is RED. It may be subjective as to what shade, but it's RED. If that is "pink" then what is pink actually called when it's present? -
Thanks...lots of stuff to eventually read up on.

Just now got the new Dengeki Hobby mag, and the new VF-1 is quite awesome. If anyone translates the specs on it, please put it up somewhere here. I also love the new characters.

Love that book. It's got some very nice art in there. I love how each character in there has their own distinct look, their own distinct character. It really shows just how much talent Mikimoto has. He needs an updated book, especially doing the Gunam and Macross art as of recent.

Freakin' awesome. Love that Sheryl figure. I am in for that.
