Hahaha, exactly. I've got just about every Sheryl figure out there, except the blk bunny/wht bunny versions, but that is only a matter of time. This one seems harder to get, and in my opinion, is the most elaborate of them all. Not only that, the face sculpt seems dead on, and when I get my display room going I will have a display strictly of Sheryl put up.

With the first option, the difference between Robotech and Voltron is that Voltron has revamped and has been able to adapt to the times. Because of that, it has been able to reemerge as a fresh, viable series. Robotech's biggest problem, is that it rode the coattails of its short success for way longer than it should have. The best thing they could've done was keep the story going and phase out the old designs early, so that fans wouldn't be so attached to them, like they are now. Also, like Voltron, and with other series making comebacks, they could've done a redo of the entire series, and introduce new character designs, and new "veritech" designs, that would've given them a free realm to go in a more creative direction. Second option is probably the hope of Frank Agrama, but as it appears now, Robotech isn't the most viable property to do anything with. It seems like if any company is going to take over the franchise, I'm sure they're going to want to make something of it. There are so many loop holes to jump through with the licensing and IP issues, it maybe enough to not make this franchise worth as much as the yun brothers want to make it out to seem Option 3 would be a nightmare for HG. I'm sure they'd rather sell it, than not do anything with it. Even as a Robotech fan, I'd rather see the franchise get out of their hands, or just disappear, than have it constantly go down the road it is with an inept staff, and a small amount of fans who worsen the franchise even more. Better to remember it's goodness back when it started, than to have it fizzle out in despair. You do realize that Tommy and Steve are both brothers, right? Basically, the staff is Tommy Yun, and McKeever. Tommy and Steve probably count as one person, as Steve just does whatever Tommy says and does. Then again, McKeever is just a glorified receptionist. As for the HG higher ups, who knows. Maybe they don't care enough about the franchise to give it a real staff, and respect to stand on its own away from Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada. I think that's why HG is putting all their hope into WB making this LAM. If it does go through, Robotech's "viability" will go up, and hopefully the company that made the movie will pick it up. Afterall, how many companies out there actually have licenses to make Robotech product? As it stands, not many. It seems like they've let a lot of those licenses expire and may go to WB in hopes of them absorbing it all, including the issues of not being able to use the original Macross designs. I would hope that if that happened (WB buying the franchise), that they'd be willing to allow Macross to come over here, and if they did make more Robotech, that it'd be redone, so that it's an original series, not copied mecha and character designs.

Those are the only places I order from, but if there's another trustworthy place, that may be good as a backup. I'm really starting to like amiami, even though they are sold out of this toy, it's very possible that they'll restock. -
Hey guys, sorry for being out awhile, I've been pretty busy at work, and taking care of some other things, but I will begin work again on this project on tuesday, and will also put up pics of the stuff I've done up till now. Stay tuned.

I won the Kimono Sheryl. I'm so excited to have won it. I can't wait to get it. I hope to get that Klan statue soon, but it will have to be after I pay off this item. It was a lot of dough.

Wow, that's pretty f!@$ing ridiculous, but great for that seller. I may have to put mine on ebay if they really went for that much. -
It's probably right around the corner, being that there's a good amount of material to fill up a 3rd book. I'm waiting for the translator app for the iphone to be able to translate Japanese into English. At that point, I'll be able to understand what the specific dialogue is saying.

Is this the whole anchor point to why Paramount is "Quaking in their boots?" Pfffff, Hahahahaha. This is cutting edge stuff, man, so sharp, it'll cut you where you sit.

All this makes me think of this song called "The Moron Brothers"
-
Ahhhh, incoherent, under pressure internet ramblings. They usually seem to get worse when put on the spot, and maybe that's a way of unconsciously covering up the party fouls. Who the hell knows. It's a character trait that is not so uncommon. Some people just become incoherent when exposed. It's like not having a poker face. You just know when they should be putting up the white flag. I've always been curious to know why some poeple would rather look be proven a dumb@ss, than be proven wrong? It's not like everyone is right all the time, but once you make yourself out to be a moron, that's more of a character issue than just messing up facts. Like I've said, that's why it's fun to watch it unfold.

Thaks for the luck. Seems like I may need it. These are definitely up there in price, but I think I should be able to snag one. Just sold some toys that went through, so I got the funds to get them. There are all kinds of bidders for these.

These comparisons don't really make much sense from Kevin. As you and I have discussed on several occasions, it's funny to see someone who works for such a small film industy Co. try to understand how the big fish sees things. Especially when trying to correlate the sales figures of new released movies, to a very subjective point, like justifying his convention marketing. Apples and Oranges, McKeever. You know, HG should consider going into business as a hardware store, what with all the "TOOLS" they have in their employment.

They had a ton of those at the LA Kinokuniya. Picked one up on my lunch break. I also placed a bid on the Sheryl Geisha figure. 12 hours left, and keeping my fingers crossed.

The question about the quality of work from DR Movie shouldn't be questioned. They've worked on the above mentioned shows, as well as Yukikaze. Obviously, they seem to have the stuff to get good stuff out. So, why does RTSC look so crappy? Well, it's got a lot to do with direction, or lack thereof. From what I know, HG, i.e. Tommy pretty much took all the reigns of overseeing the project. Maybe outta fear, greed, or whatever reason, he took all control of that area, and it seems like he signed off on a lot of half assed stuff. Everybody looking like comic book super heroes, "Check". Every female getting a boob job and wearing Vegas showgirl costumes, "Check". Stiff animation and cut and paste action, "Check". As has been speculated above, the writing was given to Ford Riley, but apparently, he was very confined by what he could do, and in my personal conversations with him, he wanted to do the first opening sequence (or the first 30 minutes or so) differently. As to what, I didn't ask, but he had to do what he was given. In that light, it seems like the writers, art, and animation direction is only as good as the one in charge, in this case, the creative director. Lack of creativity, and lack of any good direction is evident, but this shouldn't reflect on the Voice actors in one bit. As an actor, you're given a script, and you do what you can to make it work the best way possible. Sometimes there's just no saving bad story,, bad lines, no matter who you are. In RTSC, I will commend the Voice actors for doing their best, to Richard Epcar, for steppig to the plate and taking over, I believe, the ADR role and saving what it would've been, Ford Riley for at least trying and having to work under a heavy thumb, and to composer Scott Glasgow for a better than expected OST. You think one bad apple can spoil a bunch? I think so.

Well, if they are too focused on "other things", and are willing to take someone else's money and not give them what they ordered, it's the same thing as stealing, and they shouldn't have an online store.
-
Placed a bid on one. They certainly aren't inexpensive, but it's, in my opinion, one of the best Sheryl sculpts, if not the best. I still need to place an order for this, but as it stands now, I'm on financial hold, till I can sell more of my old items.

That's really sad. I used to think they were really good. I wonder what the hell happened to them? Did they just decide to cut and run? You should really contact your bank, or credit card, and file a complaint. Especially with no notice from them.
-
Understandable. In my opinion, as they all work for the same company, I lump them one in the same. They're all spilling the same lingo, so if one lies, then they all are, I guess. In other news, the voting for the favorite RT episodes is pretty interesting. EPISODE BATTLE There are some pretty tight battles going on...Paper Hero vs. Shadow Chronicles 50/50 (guess the goon squad called for backup) and RT Sentinels vs. Lonely Soldier Boy is 50/50 as well. Should be interesting what the finals come out to. THANKS, JT/ZEN72, for putting this up. Lots of fun. If you haven't voted, make your voice count.

I was really leaning in on this, to hear what type of comments people would make about the possible high price. I didn't want to spoil it, so acted as if I had no clue. I'm guessing that with the first page full of how high the price was, it would've been followed with 20 some-odd more pages of the same thing. Gotta love it.

Where in the world did you find that? Did you get it online?

I dunno about them telling the truth. I can name at least 2 seperate times where Tommy hasn't been truthful in his statements, and I'm sure others have others that add up to more than several occasions. Also, understanding that you're never really gonna get a direct answer from any staff, also lends to the fact that you're gonna get misleading statements from time to time. They've created a certain image of the franchise, whether by choice, by what higher ups and PR people tell them to say, or on their own, and they have to stick with that to uphold the company image. I really don't expect anybody speaking on a company's behalf to be totally honest with anyone when in front of customers, in front of press, and so-on. Most spokesmen for companies won't be totally straight up, but usually what they say are very blanket statements, and even issues that seem to reflect a little grey, are balanced by things like "This is what we have to show you", or something to that effect (usually something new and full of wow factor). Still, aside from some of the flat out stupid and obvious lies, what puts me in a position where I agree with a good number on a change of guard, is strictly on the direction and creativity level alone. It's just not something I would support, or even remotely care to give a rat's @ss about in the direction it's been going for a looonnnng time now, or at least since the 21st century has started.

As it's cut off, it maybe 6600 yen, which after shipping maybe around $120. Could be a much more basic kit than the Regult. If I were you guys, I'd wait and see what the final price is. At worst, thank God I'm getting a good tax return this year.

So, at least in that, you've proven how petty the whole banning is, when they will ban you for stuff you say somewhere else. It's not like you're gonna miss a ton of news and big updates. They've run their site into a lackluster, humdrum cult website. I'm sure you'll survive. I totally understand this point. As much garbage as I call out against the morons that are nailing RT's coffin shut, I don't hate Robotech either. I'm kinda in a strange position...not unique, but not too common. I was a Macross fan before being a Robotech fan, and simply grew to love them both at roughly the same time. The RT freak show would want to think I ran over here after the fact, but the truth is, I was here a long time ago. That said, when I make comments that I'd rather see Robotech simply die off, I merely mean the bastardization that it's become with Prelude, Shadow Chronicles, and so on. It reminds me of a 40+ year old quarterback still trying to pass, run in and out of the pocket, and play a game of football like he's 22 years old. Not saying that it can't be done, but at some point, you gotta realize that without adapting and moving on to something else gracefully, you end up looking like a chump, and do more damage to the team you're playing for. That's what Robotech feels like to me. Either get a new quarterback and change your game completely, or simply retire it altogether. That's not hating the franchise, that's seeing it from the view of damage control.

I was looking through this, today at work, and I didn't quite get what the "Macross the First Contact" story was. Is this supposed to be an in canon side story, or just a manga short? What exactly is it? The Bye Bye Mars story is slightly different, but as always, looks great. Really happy with this issue of it.

Yeah, it's basically a bunch of people trying to validate their fandom by trying to put the foundations of said franchise down. It's a very passive/aggressive trait, but that's another lesson I guess. Most people don't need to validate their fandom in this manner, not that it validates it anyways. If you're a fan, cool. But when you start going to those lengths, it's like they wanna show themselves as an idiot to prove their fandom. It's a big "WHATEVER" for me. If you wanna be a fan, be a fan. I wonder if these people even know that they're doing more damage to their franchise and fandom, than helping? P.S. do you have the official link for it so others can see the posts?
