Where in the world did you find that? Did you get it online?

I dunno about them telling the truth. I can name at least 2 seperate times where Tommy hasn't been truthful in his statements, and I'm sure others have others that add up to more than several occasions. Also, understanding that you're never really gonna get a direct answer from any staff, also lends to the fact that you're gonna get misleading statements from time to time. They've created a certain image of the franchise, whether by choice, by what higher ups and PR people tell them to say, or on their own, and they have to stick with that to uphold the company image. I really don't expect anybody speaking on a company's behalf to be totally honest with anyone when in front of customers, in front of press, and so-on. Most spokesmen for companies won't be totally straight up, but usually what they say are very blanket statements, and even issues that seem to reflect a little grey, are balanced by things like "This is what we have to show you", or something to that effect (usually something new and full of wow factor). Still, aside from some of the flat out stupid and obvious lies, what puts me in a position where I agree with a good number on a change of guard, is strictly on the direction and creativity level alone. It's just not something I would support, or even remotely care to give a rat's @ss about in the direction it's been going for a looonnnng time now, or at least since the 21st century has started.

As it's cut off, it maybe 6600 yen, which after shipping maybe around $120. Could be a much more basic kit than the Regult. If I were you guys, I'd wait and see what the final price is. At worst, thank God I'm getting a good tax return this year.

So, at least in that, you've proven how petty the whole banning is, when they will ban you for stuff you say somewhere else. It's not like you're gonna miss a ton of news and big updates. They've run their site into a lackluster, humdrum cult website. I'm sure you'll survive. I totally understand this point. As much garbage as I call out against the morons that are nailing RT's coffin shut, I don't hate Robotech either. I'm kinda in a strange position...not unique, but not too common. I was a Macross fan before being a Robotech fan, and simply grew to love them both at roughly the same time. The RT freak show would want to think I ran over here after the fact, but the truth is, I was here a long time ago. That said, when I make comments that I'd rather see Robotech simply die off, I merely mean the bastardization that it's become with Prelude, Shadow Chronicles, and so on. It reminds me of a 40+ year old quarterback still trying to pass, run in and out of the pocket, and play a game of football like he's 22 years old. Not saying that it can't be done, but at some point, you gotta realize that without adapting and moving on to something else gracefully, you end up looking like a chump, and do more damage to the team you're playing for. That's what Robotech feels like to me. Either get a new quarterback and change your game completely, or simply retire it altogether. That's not hating the franchise, that's seeing it from the view of damage control.

I was looking through this, today at work, and I didn't quite get what the "Macross the First Contact" story was. Is this supposed to be an in canon side story, or just a manga short? What exactly is it? The Bye Bye Mars story is slightly different, but as always, looks great. Really happy with this issue of it.

Yeah, it's basically a bunch of people trying to validate their fandom by trying to put the foundations of said franchise down. It's a very passive/aggressive trait, but that's another lesson I guess. Most people don't need to validate their fandom in this manner, not that it validates it anyways. If you're a fan, cool. But when you start going to those lengths, it's like they wanna show themselves as an idiot to prove their fandom. It's a big "WHATEVER" for me. If you wanna be a fan, be a fan. I wonder if these people even know that they're doing more damage to their franchise and fandom, than helping? P.S. do you have the official link for it so others can see the posts?

That's pretty ignorant of those people that are claiming that, and really only proves they don't have a damn clue about what they're talking about. Their ass-umption just made the "ass" out of them. Especially, in light of the fact that Macross has a much more in depth back story than Robotech. That's not even a matter of opinion. I'm not saying that this is a criticism against Robotech, cause it isn't, but if you look at canon details, history, and story, Macross spans pre space war I, Space War I, back story on colonization, valkyrie development of the YF-19 and 21, Planet Eden, Macross 7 fleet war against the Protodeviln, Macross 7 Trash, the the journey of Macross Frontier, and the valkyrie races from Macross The Ride. That's not even really going into data info provided in Macross Chronicles that gives further info, and fills in a lot of detail in between. Now, taking all that in, if someone is gonna make a dumbass commen like "Macross Fans are all mecha based", then you have a simply ignorant person, or people to make that statement.

If it's what I think it is, I've heard it a long time ago. Several have heard it as well, and at least one of the tracks that didn't make it, make me wanna throw down some cardboard on the pavement, put on my converse, and bust out the windmill on everyone. I wish they'd stop calling it a 25th anniversary soundtrack, as it's past that, and as the saying goes, "A day late, and a buck short." But, they probably wanna ride that pony around the track as much as possible. Aside from being a little off and odd, it's kinda one of those, "whatever" moments.

You may not know this, or maybe it's just another one of HG's misleads, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't "Carl's Final Project". While he may have suggested getting more Robotech story out there through alternative media, as HG staff has said, they never said this was actually his story. From what it sounds like, simply suggested the style of media, and it's all Tommy's story. I think they were using the "Carl's vision" thing play off of the fans' emotions, nothing more. It's not that I wouldn't mind seeing any new Robotech, I'd like to see it thoroughly branch off into it's own story without relying on Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada characters. They could've used the Shadow Chronicles to wrap up the Rick Hunter SDF-3 drama, and then start off in a different part of space, with new characters, and new mecha. Alas, that requires a level of creativity that they don't seem to have, and if they do, they're scared to death to even try it.

That's almost like buying a 1/60 CD 1A at hlj on the spring sale with EMS shipping. At some point, they're gonna break the point where the price just turns most people off, and they don't make a return on their product. This, to me, is very close.
-
There's no 3rd option though, to not have to see either. Shadow Chronicles was an embarrassment, and the Robotech that I used to like has long been buried under a mountain of $h!t.

Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
This is probably one of the best looking Valks in battroid that I've seen in a long time. It just looks wicked. I'm still a bit concerned about the super glossy plastic, which makes the damn paint chip, and the loosening diecast, but I'm hoping for good things out of this. -
Hmmm, that program looks like it'd do South Park style animation pretty well.
-
Awesome, looking forward to getting my two copies

I too, am a little bummed out about the super high price, but I'll just save a few more lunches out to get it. I am liking the little features, and will probably spur me onto putting up a M7 display section when I start doing my "Macross Room". Probably won't be that big, but this seems definitely like a show piece.

HLJ is usually pretty good at getting replacement parts to you. I bought a CMs Mospeada ride armor of the red one, and the leg was broken out of the box. I emailed them, sent in pics, and they sent me a complete figure. It took sometime, but they came through for me. As for items that are on their way to me, I have a couple ebay items coming, a Macross Frontier car decal for my G35, the Super Dimension Calvary Southern Cross "This Is Animation" book, and from HLJ, a v.2 CF 1A.

I have to admit, that's pretty f!@king lame. So, they spent a whole $80 on a new hard drive??? Whoa, big spenders there. I don't see how that really demonstrates anything big, or newsworthy when it comes to production. They must be real desperate to prove that fact.
-
I dunno about the lions on this. Some pics they look fine, then others make them look so soft. I think if they did a Chester Cheetah Voltron figure, I'd go for that. At least he has that Sean Connery voice, and sun glasses. I'd pilot that mech while eating a big bag of cheetohs. There's a perfect product tie-in.

Yeah, that's understandable, and as I haven't given any details, I don't expect people to jump on that bandwagon. Unfortunately, even if there were to be added english subs, the BD, or DVD (more like BD only) would still have to be stuck in Japan. At least with today's technologies, and the list of e-tailers in existence, there isn't such a problem as getting them out, as is more the price and shipping. I've put out this question before, and the response was pretty positive, but if this was to happen, there's plenty of people who'd buy them here w/ english subs. The list was including people who haven't purchased the official DVD/BD versions because of that, and people who already own the Frontier sets and movies. I know I would rebuy them in support of a decision to include their, what seems like, forgotten secondary market. From what I've discussed with certain people, they are aware of us, and the dedication we have to the franchise. But, as I've said above, nothing is ever so cut and dry, and getting everyone on one page, in almost any situation, is never an easy task.
-
Well, then if you've actually had meetings with, or talked with some of the people in these companies that make these decisions in regards to subtitles, then you'd know why I posted what I did.
-
They ARE interested. Trust me on this one, at least from a couple sides of the block.

Stampede would probably be most deadly. As pointed out, it depends on your target. If the target was ships, or fortresses, I'd say the RMS payload (A) would be the best payload, and the standard strike canon setup for secondary targets. This, of course, depends on the number of ships. If you have one or two primary ship or base targets, and have a decent opposing secondary target, I'd take option B, with the standard strike setup. Now, if there's nothing but Regults, fighter pods, and the sort, you'd probably want a spread of many missiles that will keep the enemy off concentrating on hitting you. You'd probably also want a weapon system that can track and destroy multiple targets, a few times over. For that, you'd probably want a full Micro missile payload, or the micro-missiles, with the larger missiles for maybe the one eyed larger ships (forgot what they're called). Then, I'd go for option c, with standard strike, or dual strike canon layout. I'm not sure, but the missiles, based on what is shown in the shows, seem to have different properties. The RMS missiles seem to be a bit slower and easier to shoot down. The micro missiles seem very fast and maneuverable, but probably don't hit nearly as hard. Not sure about the medium sized ones, but that's what I get from seeing the show.

It's not that cut and dry. While we can speculate on reasons why, there's usually more than one reason, or more than one hurdle that each company would need to jump over to get this stuff done. Maybe it's not that they don't want to, maybe they can't? Or, maybe they can, but don't want to put other things at risks, or maybe profit margins would diminish, etc. I've explored options available, and some seem helpful. However, as I, nor anyone here that I know of work for any of said companies, the best thing to do as people in HG's realm of the Robotech/Macross issue is to keep on buying what you like, and let your interest be known and hope that they see a viable market outside Japan.
-
One of us can only hope that we win the Mega lotto, and then buy the franchise and all licenses and rights therein. Damn, at $155 million cash payout, after taxes, you're looking at, at least $80 million. I'd buy it just to get Macross over here. There'd still be money to be made off of that, and I'm sure BW would be willing to work with anyone else, other than HG. I know it's more complicated than that but it's possible.
-
Yeah, I've noticed. I've got one, but need another for a psycho custom project (I know, I'm nuts). Even just paying the standard retail would be great for me at this point. Usually at any price over $100, my initial instinct is to wince a bit. However, I usually pay out for the good Macross items anyways. Having a high quality VE-1 finally made was high on my list of purchases.
