  1. I know there are people out there that like it just because it may have some campy fun, and I'm not knocking on that. A lot of people like certain things that other may find stupid, odd, or even strange. I guess it's a question of how much fervor is going into all that. I have all those comics, and while they are pretty bad in reference to all the other great comics out there (Masamune Shiro's Ghost In the Shell comes to mind), reading them and taking them in their context doesn't make them as bad as they actually are.
  2. That's probably cause you're not hopped up on a drug called nostalgia. Nostalgia will turn a lot of people into mindless turds. Too many cases for that point, so, insert your favorite RT elitist fringe runner.
  3. The worst part about that, was that character-wise, I thought he was a much cooler character than Marcus, or just about anyone in the show for that matter. He wasn't so emo and a butt-hurt pilot. Ah well, just made it easier to mentally tune out when I saw it.
  4. Hey Nick, got you on here, buddy.
  5. Was it a top view shooter? I remember that one, but didn't know it was available as a downloadable, emulated game. If it's an older side scroll game, you may want to search for Macross Scrambled Valkyrie.
  6. Isn't that what Craig and Smokey were smoking in the movie Friday?
  7. Adult Swim on most nights, save for Saturday night is a joke. It's mostly a bunch of crappy animated shows that don't make any sense, and cartoons that lack any sense of plot. Seems that most of the ideas for cartoons on Adult Swim still have the idea that all cartoons should have no plot, and be void of any inteligence. That's why I don't watch, except for when they have the anime shows on at midnight starting saturday night/sunday morning. As for Robotech being on there, I could see it on Cartoon Network during the day, when everyone's at work, but Adult Swim??? Hahahaha (NOT). Even the idea of afternoon filler cartoon would be a waste for Cartoon Network, being that Robotech is free and/or available on youtube, Hulu, Netflix, DVD... it's supposedly all over the place, and the franchise is still barely alive.
  8. Got it. That's what I get for working too hard yesterday, staying up late last night, and getting up way too early on a day off.
  9. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35004 Just thought I'd link this here for people who keep up on this thread. I'm working on getting enough interested to do 1/55 figure sets to go with all those Toynami/Aoshima Legioss/Treads that are out there. Check it out.
  10. Thanks, and yeah, I agree. I didn't like the way it looks from the original pics of it in fighter either. I think with my version, I've made the nose a little shorter, which doesn't make it look so awkward. But hey, it's called a "Platypus" and I don't think those are really too pretty anyways. functionality over beauty I guess.
  11. The figures can be painted in any way you see fit. That's why there will probably be only 3 sets. The first set can be painted for Lei and Stick, and the Rook/Sue one is simply the same design as well. I may paint a set for the shadow colors, but that's a ways to go in this, well hopefully, not too far ahead. Also, got you guys down for the list. So the list has begun.
  12. Thanks, it's coming along. Tomorrow I put the tanks on the legs, and will try to get some scribing done for panel lines on the backpack. I'm also gonna see if I can make the stoppers for the upper and lower leg connector parts of the side piece that connects the legs. Probably a little ambitious for me, but I should be able to get at least something done.
  13. Yeah, I had a set of them, and they are not to the same scale. These will be better detail and will not look like lumps of plastic like those kinda do. I guess if anything, you could compare them to the Super Happy Party Set on the Macross toys section, but of MOSPEADA figs instead. The guy who's doing these is a fan of the series, and will be doing these with my help.
  14. LMAO, you've officially been "LOST IN TRANSLATION"...."RECTIFY!"
  15. I never thought Southern Cross was that bad, but I thin it's fine where it is. I like it in its obscurity, and that gives it a sense of fun nostalgia. To redo it would probably ruin it moreso, and as has been pointed out by everyone commenting on that, it doesn't seem to be a viable, smart business decision to invest money in something with so much of a high chance of failure.
  16. Hey all!!! I'm tryin to gauge interest in a set of 1/55 MOSPEADA figures that will be able to be in scale of you Toynami/Aoshima figures. I know the Aoshima boxes claim it's 1/48, but in either case, they will be designed to look to scale of those toys. If I can get enough people interested, I'm going to have a friend of mine make them. If all works out according to plan, there will be 3 sets total. 1st will be of the Stick (Scott)/and Lei (Rand) figure. Second will be the Yellow/Lancer version, and 3rd will be Rook (Fuke)/Sue Graham (don't know her name in MOSPEADA). Each set will consist of 5 pieces...Rider, rider w/ ride armor, Bike in stock mode, bike in ride mode, and rider on bike, kinda like shown below. Now for price. Each set will be $30, and while not sure yet, if we can get enough orders, the set maybe less expensive (don't quote me on that). This is for interest only, not a commitment to buy, but please, if you are seriously interested, and not just kinda, let me know. I don't want to get a large list, then have half back out. These sets shoul be very fun and a great way to make your Mospeada collection and displays top notch. Here's to getting this project off the ground. 17. Today, I spent some time working on some of the updated stuff that I've been doing with this project. While it still has a way to go, it seems to be looking more like it needs to. It's quite ugly right now, due to all the patch work and stuff, but I think once the paint is on, it should look like it needs to. Anyways, here are the pics of test fits for today. Last pic has the new jamming wing attachment, which I will be making recast of to fit all hard points on the wings. The actual attaching point to the wing is from the larger missile cluster that holds 3 missiles, and I'll be using those instead of recasting this piece, just so that it has a solid point of connection. Comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking.
  18. Nick, those are awesome pics. Can't wait to get my saddle bags and stinger launcher. I think it looks pretty good with the bags attached. Restrictive, yes, but if Stick or Lei were carrying some important items, they could still fight and carry their stuff.
  19. Welcome to the boards. Can't wait to see your poses and stuff you got. Unfortunately, buying a new computer ruined my chances of getting a great camera for now, but one day, will put up some good pics of Macross stuff.
  20. Southern Cross was never on the level with Macross, Orguss, or even MOSPEADA. If it was a manga done in Japan, from what I've gathered, it would be too risky to do. Depending on the price, and shipping and all, it'd probably be last on a list of wants for me. It's not really worth even discussing, as it's not going to happen. Not only that, even amongst Robotech fans, it wouldn't be a high priority, as they don't even really buy the featured merchandise. Just a bad idea all around.
  21. This makes me want to finish up my resin 1/72 of this beast, and yes, a toy version would be awesome.
  22. I'm sure quite a few here would be interested in it, but "here" is such a niche group, as is the rt fanbase, that it'd most likely tank after one or two issues. Not only that, there's just no artists that seem even remotely interested. In regards to the Japanese yen/dollar ratio, and high gas prices, if what Kevin said was true, then why does he keep pushing the conventions if the conventions are going to be hurting? Isn't he contradicting the point of his job in scheduling these conventions? Why market to something that is supposedly going to be hurting so bad? In essence, he's pretty much advertising that his job is hardly worth keeping. I found that quite funny.
