You mean, he's still playing kiss-up to become a moderator? He was trying to do that since before I made my exit in 07. He may have to wait longer, as Maverick had been waiting a lot longer before he found new inspiration in living. Sometimes you gotta wonder what kind of life these over-zealous fanatics have outside of Robo-tech? When at work, do they long to go home and talk about Robotech online? Do they go to sleep, praying they dream about Robotech? Do they eat breakfast hoping their cereal will spell a Robotech character name? I mean, really. Is there anything else going on? To be devoted to a franchise that is so lackluster and undevoted to the word quality, Something not good is happening there.

I like Dolza's grab of Lisa. "I was just holding it, I wasn't going to light it"

Sounds like fun, you lucky mofo.

Now, that's the makings of classic comedy and direction. They should've made that guy creative director.

No Beagle Blow Superior... that blows superior...
Jasonc replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's still being worked on. There's a couple things we're taking into consideration for the figures, computer design vs. full sculpt, how many sets, and possible additions to the set, along with extra gimmicks that will make it not just a "recast" project. There should be an update to that soon. Keep you guys posted and will have an update once more details are ironed out. -

That should've been where Toynami took the old design, revamped it, to get the best of both worlds. Oh well, you can always want perfection, hardly ever comes. Anybody want MOSPEADA figures? -
Good stuff. I wish people did that here in the states. And as for the tablature for the guitar of Macross Dogfighter, I've been working on that. I'm hoping to have it down sometime. Definitely getting there.

I tell you this. There was a time when I had about 19 of the Toynami alphas, as I kinda inherited them from a store owner. They had a great matte finish to them, and they looked pretty good in guardian/armo-diver mode, and ok in robot mode, but were horribly designed in fighter mode. the landing gear didn't come down far enough, the chest stuck out too far, and as EXO said, the arms weren't made of enough reinforced plastic, and would often break when pulling the arms out. As a bonus, sometimes you got crumbling hands, and a head that was on crooked, and if you were a real lucky one, the legs didn't extend fully, as they were supposed to. Now, compare to the Gakken 1/35, it was big, not as detailed and a bit blocky and chunky, but that was it. It was also a toy designed in the 80s. I would've been happier to see the Gakken scaled down to the Toynami size, and simply add the better color and finish, and add some of the modern posability design, than to have what came out recent. What was also cool, was the fact that the shoulder rocket didn't have to come off when transformed. In my opinion, the Gakkens are still the best of the Legioss/Alpha toys to date. -
Yeah, I can hear the song "This is Robotech, This is Robotech" sung by ace veritech pilot Jack Baker Skelington. He can deliver scary pumpkin heads in the form of micro missiles to all the young girls and boys, and defeat the Zentraedi with Halloween songs. The Zentraedi could be religious zealots whom are trying to cancel Halloween, and destroy the earth by doing so.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Never lost it, and you're right, it is just a toy, so there's no reason for concern. You're catching on. -
That sucks. Did it break as in a piece snapped off, or did a piece just come off? There's a certain amount of effort it takes to get that bottom heat shield to lock. I thought was going to break mine, but it closed. I haven't tried the 11C yet.

I got my 11C the other day from the HLJ sale, and it's a very nice toy. It's solid, and looks great in all modes. I can finally say that I'm up to date on the M7 line.

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
Jasonc replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't have any issue with the "extra parts". They aren't integral to the transformation, or necessary for solidity to the structure. In that, I'm totally fine with having them. At least they thought enough about stuff like that. If there's something that concerns you on a picture, you may want to be a little specific about what's "concerning" you, instead of having nobody know what you're talking about, and you having to make 3 or more posts just to get to the meat of the issue. Just a suggestion. -
Ah, man! Sucker for grey, sucker for grey. I wanna order another set of these, but I just got my @ss handed to me from paying for the 19 Kai. Time to sell more stuff on ebay.

Oh, I totally agree. J.J. Abrams made his film where it doesn't violate the canon, by working the change into the story in a meaningful, clear-cut way. With Tommy Yun, the reasoning is never given. It's just rearranged for no reason, and with no regard for what fans take as core canon. It's also true that there is that lack of heart put into the project. Anytime this part of the debate is brought up, it's always met w/ the McKeever talking about how successful the film was and selling "gangbusters" (seriously, isn't that a porn tern?). Never do you hear any of the the staff talking abut how much of their heart they poured into the project, or how much they tried to do the best they could. As Tom said, it's expected that the movie would make money. There's enough fans out there that were waiting to see the conclusion of episode 85 for a loooonnnng time. I keep going back to it, but it rings very true. You get a Star Wars episode 1 syndrome, in which rabid fans flock to see and buy the film, and then it comes out, and many fans realize that not all is perfect in paradise. They may think it doesn't matter, but after that fiasco with RTSC, I really don't have any desire to see a sequel, sidequel, live action movie, etc. Why give my money to a group that craps out a lame product, slaps a Robotech label on it, and sells it to everyone?

That, is still the best formed, best looking Legioss to date. You gotta wonder why Toynami just didn't scale that down, and make the 1/55 or 1/48 version of that with some updates? I think that would've given Toynami a whole different face in the quality world. -
As a fan not associated with the series, the good thing is tha every fan can make up what they want, pick and choose what they want as their own canon, etc. By that same token, people involved with the creative process of a franchise almost have a "code of ethics" in that position that isn't really official, but is almost expected. That is, you don't mess with the basic storyline that is established canon, especially when you aren't the originator. Now, we all know Star Trek (the new movie) totally jacks up the timeline, but, it doesn't negate that it ever happened. That was probably one of the more clever ways of a new director not having to immense himself in 30+ years of canon, and a way to create his own vision of it. I know this kind of revamping of a franchise has been done before, but if you get down to it, there aren't any good reasons why RTSC re-wrote canon story. Marvel does it with movies, DC does the same. Those movies seemed more based on, and aren't tied directly to the source, i.e. the comic books. That seems to give them more freedom. Not only that, but those stories have been going on for so long, you have to adapt the nuts and bolts of the story into the condensed 2 hr. timeframe. I dunno, just thoughts here, but I can't think of a valid reason in the demolishing of canon events in the Robotech timeline. If someone has any theories out there, I'd be interested in hearing them.

So, does that mean it's a "Yes, buy" or "Don't bother"??? While I like the Alpha/Legioss, I was thoroughly disappointed with this design. I normally am a completist, but I just haven't had the drive to get the Maia version, out of fear of the hands crumbling, or the head being bent off center, or the legs not extendin properly, or arms breaking at the upper arm from weak plastic, or excess glue, etc. IF I do ever get one, it would only be because I'm a completist, and it'd have to be at a time when I just have money running out my pockets, which isn't very often. You're best bet with that is to probably pause the DVD, if you have that kind of patience and desire. The "Artbook" for Shadow Chronicles is hardly an artbook, and has tiny pics. Also, the pics aren't the greates quality. I know of one guy who was doing custom paint to his for the Prelude comics, which probably has the better references. -
So, either the last two episodes of Robotech the New Gen. aren't canon, or RTSC isn't. If put to a vote, I'm willing to put up money that it's RTSC that would be kicked to the curb. Street justice style.

Just got my "payment sent" update, 22,360 from HLJ, and luckily, I just got paid. Just got enough on this freakin' check to pay for this, car, bills, and rent for next month. Why does the first always seem to be just around the corner? In regards to Ronald McKai, that really makes me want some french fries, a cold soda, and a Big Mac.

MickyG's Yamato VF-1S Unpainted, Unassembled Kit Build
Jasonc replied to mickyg's topic in The Workshop!
Yeah, I hear ya on that. It's rained and has been colder than usual here in socal, which has ruined, or rather put off some other projects. They can be so tempermental. -
That would make sense, but make the stupidest sense and excuse out their to cover up for lack of thought and concern. I'm wondering if they are actually going to do LLA now, especially since some people got word that that is what was going to be used. Everyone was quickly turned off with that idea, so perhaps the delay of that is in figuring out something new to do? Yeah, I know, already been talked about.

Even Scott and Ariel in RTSC seemed a bit odd. The last episode, Symphony of Light ends with Scott flying off. In RTSC, he comes back due to circumstances, but it's like "Oh you're back, and we're now a perfect couple." There's no settling, no real relationship interaction. It's so forced, and even the love interest that was there in MOSPEADA is diminished to a contrived, "they're supposed to be like this just because" form.
-
Yeah, but don't blame that on Tommy, as he says, "you know those young Korean animators".

I honestly would try to watch it in 3D if it was available. Don't know how good it'd be, but if it's simply an option, then why not. My only concern with all that would be cost. If it was gonna cost too much, then I'd say just skip the 3D. It can be over-hyped most of the time. As for BD, um, yeah, so long as they just aren't transferring the "HD DVD" over to it. I'd love to see it look brand spankin' new, and clean as can be. Again, cost....
