HLJ Yamat Sale Got the email today. Some good Macross items on sale, and the Regult is in there, in case anyone was on the fence. Enjoy, and hope you all get something good.

Funny, I have a lot of those VHS releases in storage as well, including that DYRL there as well. Good stuff, Shaorin. Takes me back to the days of the hunt.

Well, there's always that option too. Seems like those characteristics above would probably transfer into any fandom that the individual takes on. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them that are also Dr. Who fans, also believe their fanfics of that series are better than the books/show, and are more fans of the fanfic than the actual property. I did like the original incarnation of Robotech, and it did some good things back then, like make many Macross and Mospeada fans out of a good number of us, although, I was already a Macross fan before Robotech hit the airwaves. Robotech just stapled it there, and gave me Mospeada as another one to enjoy.

OK, defriending, oh wait, this isn't facebook. Hahahaha, (j/k) The issue of classifying the RT fandom in just a paragraph or two is a little short sided, especially considering the various fandoms out there. There are those that only are fans of what they've created out of a franchise that created their franchise from other franchises (sounds confusing, right?) Then there are those that seem more fans of the debates they create, and not the actual show itself (reminds me of a certain podcaster and a couple mods). There's the super gullible "I just want to believe" fans, the cynial fans, the emo/bitter fans, and then the fans that just don't give a flying f!@k. Not all fan classifications fit into the same conclusion. There's probably more of them that fit into combinations, but usually have elements of one more than the others. I'd probably say I'm more cynical, but also can fall into the "I don't give a flying F..." category. Doesn't mean I don't like what the franchise used to be, cause I do, very much. But you won't see me in line, waiting for the next rpg, or next chinese TPB to hit my door.

Fresh from the Protoculture Space factory,,, I mean,....hahaha.

If one can actually hear one, that must be pretty impressive. I think in all my tenure as a fan, I've not once heard a Valkyrie fly overhead.

The clip maybe down, but you can still find it all over the place. Tell a friend, if it's worth mentioning. I found another angle, but the screen is a little smaller. Gotta go on youtube to find it again.

I absolutely love this pic. One of the best I've seen lately. Thanks for finding it.

Look at the scheme from Macross the Ride. I'd do that one. Kinda reminds me of the JAM from Yukikaze.

I know Steve was taking pics of the attendees before it started, or right when it started. When he pointed his camera in our direction, I put my two middle fingers close together, so you probably won't see that pic on rt.com. I'm sure they saw me, but there wasn't anything said. I don't really need to say anything. They know what I think, and I know what they think. I did notice though, that some of the fans that I've known throughout the years who were so pro HG now have a much more cynical view of the franchise. They didn't need to get that from here, or from others, just from hearing the trio talk. That's all I got from other people I see on occasion. No uncomfortable moments or anything like that.
-
Or people like me, who were there only to hear the B.S. I think the only good thing was the documentary stuff they showed, which was decent. Somehow, no one from the Row boat techies there, have commented on the documentary. Must not be as important as HG wants you to think it is.

I love it. And love Eve.

No Beagle Blow Superior... that blows superior...

I guess I'll be pulling out my Mospeada stuff very soon and taking pics. I got a set of 1/72 scale coming for someone, and the 1/55ish guys all should be here hopefully this week. Keep your fingers crossed. I'm excited to see what these will look like. -
Wonderfest licensees can make only 20 of one item, and these project pieces that people do seem more out of personal interest, than trying to sell a mass amount of product. I don't think you can compare selling 20 of one item that is like cast in resin and hand duplicated, to a company paying thousands to have metal molds made, and reproduced in a factory using ABS or Pom and diecast. Two totally different worlds.

So, if most people don't have that much interest in that particular series, it's evident enough that the toys won't do that well. There's always risks involved, when making a new product. How businesses counter those risks is by risk management. Approaches to that are: Risk Avoidance = Do nothing Risk Identification = Finding areas of possible issues Risk Assessment = Research the validity and extent Risk Reduction = Research ways to reduce the threat Risk Transference = Insurance policies Risk Retention = Not used here Risk Monitoring = Self assessment to keep active risks under control By your argument, Toynami should just skip all this, make some toys, and hope for the best. If they did make super posables, even though I like Southern Cross, I wouldn't buy them. I don't collect superposables, and maybe Toynami's done research on their sales and again, going by forums and whatnot, that suggest that idea isn't a good one. They've probably done that with the Southern Cross line. George Sohn isn't stupid, and they do have a valid license for Robotech toys. I think if there was money to be made, he would have made something. Southern Cross toys don't sell just because there isn't any, seems they wouldn't sell well due to lack of interest in that part of the franchise. You can debate that all you want, but a few interested people doesn't warrant paying money for making a new prototype, then paying a factory to make molds and producing several thousand. And you're right, I wouldn't trust Tommy and all them either with what they say...but, since they aren't acting on making the toys, that says enough.

I think HG, and Toynami, moreso Toynami, have done research to warrant not making Southern Cross toys. Apparently, HG has done some research, or at least read their forums over the past 11 or so years, and has determined that Southern Cross isn't a money maker. While it maybe sad, and some fans may want to fight it all they want, the fact is, is that it is the least popular of the 3 series. I don't think anyone needs "a link", or word form a guy who ran ADV. Getting a straight answer from the guy who ran ADV isn't necessarily going to be the whole truth, either. You're talking to someone who isn't going to say that a product he put out did terribly. I know from a decent group of people I know, that Southern Cross is more times than not, the least favorite of the 3 from Robotech, and if people recall Robotech, don't remember too much of the second series. Also, sales of a series do have an outcome of the toys. I'm sure the sales and popularity of this series in Japan are a good indicator of how toys and product for this particular segment would translate here and now. I'd like to see an AJAX "space helicopter" or a tank, but just will not happen. As for the additional characters in any further installments, that's their call, but they'll most likely be supporting cast, not important.

So, a moderator is trying to ban people who watch it, after baiting people to ask about it? Either they don't want fans, or we're witnessing more of the lack of growth on the evolution scale in thought processes. I would say it's sad, but it's funny to watch them panic over something that really doesn't change much of anything, except maybe compel some to either go see it at a convention, or forgo that need now that they've see the entire 30 seconds. Trust me, when I say that it's not too much more impressive in person. Looks decent, but it's not going to pump protoculture in you.

I will try to sing this to my wife, and see what happens. I'll probably get the rollie eyes, but that's how I roll.
-
I can make them, but I have so many other projects on the table, that I can't really hunker down and get them completed. It's in the works.
-
Yep, that's where this thing came from. As far as working Lancer into the story, they could've also said that this ship was more for high speed recon, and he just got shot down. He doesn't seem like the soldier type anyways, and his type of ride armor would support a recon story as well. Ugh, HG, you suck at creating story, even for story that's 90% written already.
-
That, I can agree on. Could've done it where Lancer wasn't supposed to go out in one, as they weren't meant to be used on the reclamation mission, but he does anyways. Something like that. It would've made more sense than throwing your men to the lions.
-
Yep, that makes sense...take out all the most advanced fighters you have out of the equation, and lead a reclamation force full of half-assed, one mode fighters against a superior fighting force, to do it. Afterall, that's what any smart general would do, right?

The animation does look pretty decent...like I said, at least better than Shadow Chronicles. I don't think they need to redo that movie, as the story sucks to no end. While this doesn't show much, it does, at this point, seem to confirm that they moved away from using some, or more of the LLA footage as this side story. It also seems to totally negate the picture shown last year of Sera holding the shield and gun, as this seems to take place before her transformation. Overall, it's OK. It doesn't move me into a sense of wow, and maybe that's just because it's kinda rehashing old story and old designs (they can't seem to do anything totally original, can they). I guess we'll see more as time goes. The animation looks passable at this point, but there are some parts of it that look very cheap, like the blinking thrusters (now that I mentioned it, HG, you can fix it), and the super saturated green in the ship. Trust me, it looked much heavier in person, than on the camera footage this person shot. Maybe this is just some unfinished stuff.
-
That animation still holds up today. I don't know how long that will be up, as Bandai is usually pretty quick to get those off youtube, but it's still very good, even by today's standards. Of course, if you're using the HG standard, then this is the greatest animation of ALL TIME!!! Speaking of animation, this has been floating around already. I didn't shoot this, but saw several cameras open during the filming. This is but one. You have to download it. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q5GZYOSM

Yeah, moves can be so harsh on the body, mind, and spirit, just looking at all the stuff to do. But, this move will be a good one, as the house is big enough to have my own display room. Thinking of doing the same with custom diplay cabinets built in. Epic.
