I got reboot out of watching it more so than sequel. If there was a Lion-o alpha and they are referring to the original, then there would need to be alpha versions of the young cats, Cheetara, Panthro, Tigra, etc. That wouldn't make very much sense, and it'd also be kinda lame. I finally saw it last night, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It's geared for all ages, and has enough story to feel like a real show, not something thought up on a lunch break. Well done, to all the people who worked on this, and a thank you to them, for making a reboot that is worth its weight.

It's not oscar worthy or anything, but it definitely was a fun movie to watch. My wife and I both enjoyed it very much. Solid story, good action, and two very cool actors. Not to mention Olivia Wilde is hot. This one is worth a view at the theater, and probably a purchase on blu-ray. As a sidenote, the aliens are pretty badass in this. They aren't sissified, that's for certain.

The question is....WHY??? If it's to give a nod to th Macross characters, NEWS FLASH!!! Macross is the nod to its own legacy. Stop trying to hack together your own crap based off of someone else, and write blaze your own trail. Stop living off the coattails of the success of Macross.

I noticed that the new screen comparisons of R2: the Sentinels has one image larger than the other. Does that mean that they are clipping some of the video? They must be doing a half assed cleanup as well, as it doesn't look that clean. Maybe it's early, and there will be more cleanup, but this still doesn't make the set worth $100.

I think when I'm gone from this world, my ashes will be put into all my valkyries, and launched into space. Talk about piloting a Valkyrie in real life...kinda.

You think this is bad? This is common talk. You should hear some of the angered RT fans.

It can really get on someone's nerves when RT fans just arbitrarily take Macross pictures, and use them as false representation. Yeah, Misa/Lisa is in DYRL as well, but DYRL was specifically Macross, and never used for Robotech. It's funny that RT fans have this insatiable desire to use everything Macross, and Macross fans don't want anything Robotech interfering with the Macross franchise. It's like the loser step-child wanting to be like daddy, and never, ever being able to even come close...even moreso now.

Can't say I've had a problem with this at all, being that most of what I've bought and sold have either been at the same, or I've made a few bucks extra on them.

Is it just software, or hardware? I've got a lot of my stuff backed up as well. You may want to also use one of those online backup companies. Some are really inexpensive, and you can backup your entire computer and files for a low price. Plus, if you lose your pc, or your HDD get stolen, or whatever unfortunate event (God forbid that happening), you still have a secure off site storage for your files.

I wouldn't say day one, but I definitely give credit to Shadow Chronicles for the turn for the worse scenario. It was right after its release that most of the core group left the site onto other things. As soon as HG went into "defensive" mode, that put them against the ropes. I had a conversation with Steve Yun before I left, where he was accusing me of "attacking the staff" for criticizing the lame poster that promoted the movie. There really was no harm in it. The poster sucked, and I heard that from many fans, including people in the industry, and voice actors as well. In the post I was accused of, I simply criticized the poster, then asked "who does that kind of work anyways?" or something like that. Usually in a larger company, one person doesn't work on a feature film, and design the advertising as well. It's broken into several divisions, or that kind of ad is done by a design firm. So when they accused me of that, Steve asked me "If someone said that one of your customs sucked, would you take offense to that?" And my answer was, "If that is their opinion, it wouldn't bother me, because I know I put 110% into that custom, and for the one who doesn't like it, there's many more that do. If I put all my effort into an item, it's going to show." I guess he didn't like that remark, as he didn't respond, but HG got into defensive mode because they knew they put out a crappy project. If they really put forth the effort in the first place, maybe it would've been better...then again, there is the "I'm in the wrong business" factor. In that case, if that was their best effort, they might wanna rethink who they have on their staff as "creators". A comic book artist, a web site manager, and a previous airport shuttle driver don't sound convincing to me, and it shows. It's like a fanfic writer's wet dream.

That's really cool. Tell you brother thanks for all of us. I appreciate it.

Of course they're not going to confirm or deny that. There were so many Macross, Mospeada, and Robotech fans making negative remarks about that, that it must've been something they decided to bury, and what's done in the dark, is most times left there. Also, I don't see a lot of speculation here as fact, but people do speculate. It's a shame if you can't tell the difference. I think HG doesn't do what we say, but they certainly listen to what we say. Will they ever directly act on it? I wouldn't expect them to. I know Tommy's made direct responses based on what people say on the internet when it comes to his work. He denied his own treatment based on what people said about it, even though that was his. The voice of the masses, or even small masses, can have an effect on some people.
-
From certain facts gathered, at one point, it was the idea. However, after numerous negative remarks, and questions of why, it seems like they ditched that effort. Seriously, you'd think that if thy were going this route for over a year now, they'd have much more done on their side project than just 30 seconds of hardly anything. It seems like they only fairly recently decided to do original animation. That's one of those things they'll never admit to, but well, what do you expect? You think they'd actually admit to anything or tell the truth?
-
It doesn't matter how many of the poor drones come here. I do know that HG personally comes here to see what we think of them, their little projects, and their actions. I'm sure we've said stuff that has either caused them to go into panic mode, or has (maybe unknowingly) help them to change their minds in some decisions. For example, I'm sure that one of the three spent a long time on youtube, looking for more of the rt2011 footage from AX, after I said that it's still up there. The truth is, there wasn't, until now.

That's the one I care about more than all these other ones. I may skip one or two of these if they don't make the Ravens 19A

And with the dollar/yen having a bigger gap, we'll be putting in much more than we wanted. Oh well, here's to a big hope that it fixes by that time. The new designs look great.

Official MacrossWorld Convention 2010 Information Thread

So, is this happening or not? I thought we had this moving along? -
If they couldn't garner enough interest to continue the destroid line, making a kit is actually a good idea. If it's just the top half, that will make people buy up the other destroids for the bottom half, and will then help clear the shelves, and sell the product. Does my wallet like it, hell no, but for a business, it's brilliant.

I honestly think the only reason they do the "convention tour" is to feed their own ego, and to give themselves a little wank off by making themselves feel like they are at the top of the game. The reasoning to that is, what kind of idiot doesn't believe the potential mass marketing tool that is the internet isn't as effective as taling to a couple hundred people maybe at a con that most people have other priorities at to begin with? Seriously, if you're gonna hit convention panels, why not wait till there's actually something to say, then do a two-fold marketing campaign with that via the convention panels and internet marketing. I'm sure there's some idiot who's gonna try to rationalize the reasoning of this "convention only" stupidity, but when I went to the Anime expo panel, I found it more annoying that it was just an excuse fest for why this and why that. If I was looking forward to the panel, I would've been royally pissed at them for wasting my time. Luckily, sitting through the panel was more of a time for me to rest my legs from shopping and doing stuff at AX like shopping, and hearing about real new stuff.

Macross Frontier Concert -@ Playstation home
Jasonc replied to USCOLMRNE's topic in Movies and TV Series
From what I gather, this is the only one. I posted this up on facebook, or, my wife did, and there's quite a few friends who had no idea about this. They're probably gonna catch either the 29th or 30th shows at 1300 hrs, or 2100 hrs the day before respectively. I'll probably do the same on one of those. -
This issue has created a monster...Or at least brought it to light. Thanks(?) for showing the ridiculous process behind this trend from the out to lunch RT group.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force
Jasonc replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I like the neck and side covers, but I like Exo's design better, as it holds the shoulder piece in place. I do want that Komilia baby pod though. I've wanted that thing for a long time. Also, if they were promoting the VF-1 kit, I'd be in for more of those as well. They should make a kit for a two seater as well.
