  1. I'm not even going to start on the speculation, nor am I going to put all my hope in this, but it would be great if they did another series.
  2. If there were pieces that you weren't happy with, I would've replaced them. I would've been willing to work with you on a solution to the problem. I did mention it was a kit, meaning that the parts did require work. They aren't meant to simply take out and be ready to pose and play with. In any case, should there be a future kit, the good news is, they will be of a higher resolution print, and should look much, much better, and require much less cleanup.
  3. Who is it that we are asking for hinges? When I first inquired about hinges, there weren't any off-white hinges available (well over a year ago). I still need a couple off-white hinges, but I would love to just get one set. Graham, if you could add me for one set of those, I could make that work. Thanks.
  4. If the person who did that, only new anything about Macross, they would've realized that the appeal of Firebomber was the fact that they aren't part of the military. That's probably JANICE (Jugs And Nipple Implants Certainly Enhance) emulating someone else from a distant universe. Quoted for Effin' TRUTH.
  5. I could only hope that the artist who did this has improved. Unfortunately for me, the age of the picture doesn't make it any better. I'm not going to criticize the person who drew the picture, because that may have been the best they could do. Hopefully they are always trying to improve, and that's all I can say about that. The idea of using Macross created characters in Robotech,,, we've been there already in this thread.
  6. I can understand that, and I can understand some of that frustration, but if you're buying a toy as a toy, and not a collector's item, then it's hard to get disappointed. Same thing for housing. If you buy a house because you want to make money off of it, well...all I can say is, houses are meant to be lived in. You can make money off of them, but that goes with buying wisely. Again, it all comes down to the priorities you put on the Macross toys you buy, or for that matter, just about any toy you buy. I've never had an issue recouping my money on toys I've bought, but I also don't buy toys for that reason, and so, the value I get for them is justified in my happiness. When people usually ask me "how much is Xxxx worth", my answer is usually "However much someone is willing to pay for it." If you are willing to pay $200 + for a toy, then, that's how much it's worth to you.
  7. That is definitely one of the uglier pictures I've seen. If they looked like that, Mylene would've never made the band for being so ugly, and most of the other "daughters" look like a man.
  8. Pretty damn funny just thinking about all that. Even more so that it rings true.
  9. I just saw the original again yesterday, and today I'm finding out this. I'm excited about it, but a little hesitant in putting all my expectations into it. I hope that Harrison Ford, if he comes back, is only in a supporting role, like an old retired Blade Runner, or something like that.
  10. The thing here is, most of us do understand your point, but many of us just don't see our collections as monetarily as you do. I've had the Yamato 1/72 lines, the 1/60 v.1s, and some of the Bandai VF-25 v.1s, and I don't have a problem with innovative improvements to them in the future. It's why people bought DVD players after their VHS, and why people buy Blu-ray players now. Most people want better. As for you being upset seeing an item you bought on sale for much less than what you paid, again, this is my opinion, but maybe you're thinking of these toys in only monetary terms. I don't buy my toys because I expect them to hold all the value the originally had, nor do I buy them to put my future children in school. I buy them because I love them, and love playing with them. I don't see the point in going into a rant because another fan of the franchise will get it for less. I'm just happy that there are people who can get the item, and enjoy it like I do. You maybe the type who either 1) Should wait about a year before buying a new release, or 2) Not buy them at all, as it seems you have a sense of disdain for the toys you have that are on sale.
  11. OK, I was going to send you a message to get it to you. I left the two resin vent strands on the head, because it's easy to misplace them, and leaving the strands on them also makes it easy to fix the front, then take off those after, and clean the back. Some don't have it, but most do.
  12. Here's the two parts requiring construction, and where the parts go. I hope that helps.
  13. I need a day, so I can push myself to finish my custom, and let some people know. Is it gonna happen this year?
  14. These displays really make me wanna do a photo shoot with all mine, but it's mostly in a closet, and my 3 Detolfs are full of boxes of Old Robotech, G1 Transformers, Macross, Mospeada, and Orguss stuff...oh, and some Starwars and G.I.Joe toys. I really need to set this stuff up so that it looks pretty.
  15. Awesome poses. He looks like he's digging hard into riding that bike. Congrats on a great pose.
  16. I wouldn't blame Toynami for the lack of interest in their toys. They market it under the big Robotech banner, and it's a banner that as of a long time already, they haven't really worked too hard on marketing the product. They stick to only marketing at anime conventions, and if you haven't seen the panel, they talk about the toy products for maybe 2 minutes. Even the toys they market as Macross, and not Robotech, people just usually tie them as Robotech toys, and most people I know, when talking about Macross toys, refer to Bandai or Yamato. I think the guys at Toynami are smart, and they aren't going to put out something if previous releases of a similar product haven't sold too well. That's one of the problems with HG's idea of marketing only to anime conventions.
  17. I really enjoyed last night's episode. My wife thought it was touching, and while the "lesson" is a bit heavy, it's played out in the story to not feel overdone. The character development is done at a good pace, especially considering they probably want to draw this out for awhile. The ending of this episode makes me really want to watch next week.
  18. Very true. Most "professional" people in this industry that I know, and many that I've only heard or read about, don't spend as much time on regulating criticism, if at all. If they choose to spend their time coming up with excuses, and trying to defend what lackluster job they've done, that's on them. It's true in that case, and explains why they don't get a lot done. In going back to the other people I mentioned, they don't spend time with those excuses and defending their position, they just "Do" and try to make the next step 10x better than the last.
  19. So, we're looking at an extra $100 just for the bottom part added to the kit, instead of being able to simply buy a whole new destroid for almost same said amount. Oh well. Start saving now.
  20. Well, it's been over a month, and going by what HG has said, the battlepods are still on a boat, supposedly on their way. Now, are they on a damn row boat, or sail boat? I've had stuff arrive by boat, and all I can say is, they should've announced them being here by now if that was true. I'm sure the boat is waiting for the gas prices Kevin thinks is the cause of anime conventions supposedly dying, to go down. Wait, they have been down for awhile, at least lower than what people were thinking was going to happen during the summer. Or, maybe it's still waiting for more items to fill the boats, because China hardly has anything to export, and we hardly import anything from them. In other news, did anyone listen to the podcast just put up recently where Tommy mentions that the side project won't be out till Christmas next year? Apparently, it's because they are too busy with a re-re-re-release of Robotech. They also haven't decided on a name for it, and don't even want to excite their fans by letting them know what studio is doing it, or doing much of anything for that matter. There's one thing I thought of...will the distributor for the side project be A&E, a company that doesn't have the visible presence in animation or anime industry at all, or will they shop and try to rebuild burnt bridges from Funimation, or Sentai, or even Manga or another animation distributor? I wonder if that issue of distribution will be a repeat of the fiasco HG got into with trying to get the big distributor that bit them in the @ss a few years ago with RTSC. Oh well, not complaining, more like simply clowning the thoughts. Sometimes figuring out the thought process for HG is an interesting case study on WHAT NOT TO DO.
  21. I thought it was going to be just the top portion, as the waist and legs are the exact same. Either way, I have the destroid parts just in case, and I'd rather chance it, then have only half of it, and then have to start looking. I think if the phalanx comes out with only the top half, the other releases will probably be in higher demand, and may shoot the price up a bit. I really don't want to get into that position.
  22. Congrats...As far as solidness, the 11 series are probably some of the most durable, and solid Macross toys there are. I got the 11C the previous sale, I was tempted to get another 11B for a custom, but with news and talk of the phalanx, I'm going with just the destroid.
  23. I decided to finally get my destroid, and may get another for the next destroid coming. That said, I didn't really see anything that stood out too much.
  24. It just has to do with not wanting to paint it, and the grey is more of a real world color. Just a better color to start with.
