  1. I referred to it as iffy, because even if the procedure is done well, if you don't transform or play with the toy, then you don't have to worry about it coming off, but if you do, I've seen some jobs start to look a little unsightly. It just depends on each person's comfort level, toy preference, use, etc, etc. I would suggest matte lacquer, as it's probably a better strength over acrylic and enamel.
  2. That's probably the best way to look at it, but if you're wondering "is outside still too much chance", it does depend on the wind. I use my spray cans all the time outdoors without a respirator. Common sense; don't spray into the wind, or against a wall to get the back wind of it. I usually snap a little paint from the can to see where the spray is going, then put myself upwind of it, and my target part directly where the paint will go. Never had any problems.
  3. Hmmm, Take Yugo, and put a Ferrari Logo on it maybe? Pinto, Gremlin, just insert your crap car there.
  4. Some of the paint comes off with just fingernail scratching on parts of the Bandai DXs, so I would totally avoid wet sanding, or any sanding for those areas. It's just a real "iffy" type of procedure.
  5. It always comes back to that. I think the hate that some of them have is more of a jealous, "sour grapes" type of anger towards Macross than anything. And those claims of Robotech being improved are simply cheep attempts at angering the Macross fans. Usually, it just tells me that either 1) They have no idea or taste in anime, or 2) They're whining little babies. Sometimes both, and many times it comes hand in hand, but I've never heard a decent argument for that claim, EVER. In fact, they've all been extremely subjective arguments, and usually just defer to reason 1 or 2.
  6. I remember part of that, but I don't wanna go back to it. Just delusional fanboy wishing for Robotech to be more like Macross. It's pretty common.
  7. Who's this "Captain Donovan" guy? Never heard of him? Comparing him to Rosa Parks,,,does he wanna sit at the front of the short bus?
  8. That will give the toy a matte finish, but because the plastic is so glossy, you would probably need to sand it a little so that the plastic has some viscosity for the matte coat to hold onto. In doing that, you kinda nullify the reasoning of matte coating the toy in the first place. That's just experience talking though. Perhaps it'd stick like white on rice, I don't know. I usually don't mess with my toys in that fashion, as I like keeping the toys as they were when I first get them. Gives a little more nostalgia opening them up, and they're easier to resale, if I decide to sell one for another.
  9. I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe it's not EXACTLY to the lineart, I dunno, but if it's just a hair off, I don't see a need to nitpick it. Looks great to me.
  10. At one point, I was interested in those battlepods, but as they've stretched these out way too long, and the fact that they couldn't make the parts swappable, I just don't have much interest in the design. The materials it's made out of is fine, but I find it odd that they (HG) overhyped these so much, that you almost can't help but feel a little disappointed. To add, why is it that "patience is the best thing?" I thought honesty would be a little more virtuous, but I guess they don't have much of that, or any, as these boats don't take 3 months to come over here.
  11. At this point, almost anything that sounds that ridiculously stupid, to make Robotech more than it is, is probably something that the few of the morons would suggest. Not only that, but those same numbers still believe that the light artillery pods are still on hold on a boat somewhere. At least they provide good comedy at their own expense.
  12. It should be out on set 4, if the sets get that far. Interest for set two is up now, so that and a couple after, it'll be there. I was meaning to take pics of my painted figure, but I'll probably do it tomorrow.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the stranger RT fans think that Futurama's t.v. ratings and success will be due to their use of the song in a background? Then we'll hear how cutting edge Futurama is for using Row boat tech stuff. I don't doubt this kind of thinking from the weirdos out there.
  14. WOW!!! That was fast. Got a total of 5 on preorder. By any chance, will these come with any photo-etched parts?
  15. Was it just implied that Kawamori got his ideas from Southern Cross? Wait....HAHAHAHAHAAAAA. If not, carry on.
  16. Got some off-white hinges for my broken Yamato Valks. Thanks Graham. Very much appreciated.
  17. Last I heard there was a place and day that was good, but that was it. I had a few customs to show as well. I guess if anyone wanted to do one, All that's needed is pretty much the space, and places to put up people's display pieces.
  18. That's great to hear. The fact that you got yours so late kinda bothers me though. It seems the drop box I use isn't really tended to. I've sent a few through that one, and it's taken awhile for a few to get to others. Going to a different post office in downtown Torrance is a further drive, but I don't have any issues with them.
  19. Awesome!!! I'm not much for photography, but maybe taking the picture at an angle, and putting a black foreground to get rid of any reflection in the picture. Either way, the best way to see it would be to see it in person. Congrats on a very nice piece of art, and a great framing job. Jealous!!!
  20. Good to go.
  21. Never saw it, but that's some funny sh!+.
  22. Yeah, that's me. I was getting dressed and doing some stuff while listening to it, and all I kept hearing was "Wahhh, wahhhh, heavy, wahhh wahhh, oily I can't touch it, wahhh, wahhh". I'm sorry if this is someone on these boards, but if you are, leave reviews to people who can actually do a good job of it. It didn't have to be a shining review, but the constant whining was just like nails on a chalkboard.
  23. That was just a garbage review. I hope he's not someone trying to get into the toy review business, as he, excuse me, sounds like a little b!tch when complaining. He's too lazy to clean the toy, but wants to complain about it? Honestly, his review just sounded like a Yamato hater, and whether he is or isn't, that's how he comes off. He complained about the good things too, which clued me into the fact that he has no idea what he's doing. You also gotta see how it looks when he's done transforming it. You'd think he's never posed a toy before.
  24. And that's probably why they weren't so common, and were probably used more for artillery and/or artillery defense. If not, what's the point of having defense, but leaving the a very easily penetrating area?
  25. "Why don't you open your eyes and take a good look. You think Earth has the best culture? B.S. You don't even know the meaning of culture!" Or something like that.
