  1. The only thing that I'd probably correct you on there, is the fact that HG does have money, and tons of it. How much they're willing to spend on Robotech, that's a different story. It seems like Frank Agrama only views Robotech as just a small pee-on piece of the whole pie. Unless the LAM gets made, to him, he probably won't think much of it. It would probably be the difference between the franchise being worth a couple mil, verses $50-$60 mil (example and not precise figures, of course).
  2. That Ozma version looks amazing...HOWEVER... the fact that Bandai has said nothing about the armor parts is kinda annoying, and preventing me from going further with the line than Alto. Will the armor be available as a package with future releases, will they be online exclusives, will they have a fast pack and armor sold seperately, or do you have to double dip? All those unknowns, I'd rather be on the safe side, and not buy it at all until those get answered. If I miss out, oh well, no skin of my back.
  3. Should have it by end of day. Thanks for the previews.
  4. Since there isn't a neutral response, I have to vote yes. It's really a pointless poll, but whatever.
  5. You're right. What was I thinking. That release will change all life on the planet FOREVARRRRR.

    VF-1SOL

I'm kinda interested in the details of it as well. Hahaha, VF-1SOL (Sh!t Outta Luck)
  7. I forgot to ask, what the hell is the Southern Cross thing that Yui posted about? I have no f*cking clue what it's supposed to be. Is it just an old ad or something? If I don't get it, I hope at least one person does.
  8. I think many of the Robotech fans get angry at it because they think Robotech created Macross, and Macross is copying Robotech, which many will try to argue, but just sounds like "Blah blah blah, blah blah. Blah blah blah I'm stupid. Blah blah." There are some good Robotech artists, don't get me wrong, but nowhere near the calibur of Tenjin, or even some of the fan art that comes from Macross fans in Japan. Don Yee is a good artist. He has good technique, and can draw the characters well, but I wouldn't compare him to Tenjin, Mikimoto, and others like them. Those guys are on another plain, and it's why we all know who they are. It's definitely not a put down, as I really respect Don Yee's work. Seeing his stuff is always a joy to see, but if you're going to compare artists, I think you'd have to compare commercial, paid artists, together...i.e Tommy Yune to Tenjin Hidetaka. Still no comparison, as Tenjin again is a much better artist. Using his style and technique, he's second to none. As for Mikimoto, again, no comparison. His characters are memorable, beautiful, and I don't know any Robotech artist on the planet that can compare. Not a jab at Robotech, but it's just the fact.
  9. If you want to get the HD version to work on a DVD, you'll need to to bittorrent it on your computer with the subs, then use some software to put it all together, so that it plays on your DVD. It can be done, seems like you just need some research, and to download the proper bittorrent and freeware.
  10. Looks great. Congrats on the camo job. I know that takes a lot of patience and hard work.
  11. That statue looks cute, but nowhere near anything like Lana from Southern Cross. I'm also a bit confused as to why the announcement of this statue was written in such big headlines, as it's just someone's attempt at a kitbash that now looks like neither of the two. Good effort, but looks nothing like it is intended.
  12. After seeing those comparisons, the Wave kit looks even better. As far as the other arguments that the head isn't detailed enough, what more are you expecting? Extra panel lines that are non existent in the line art? I don't get what the issue is, but to each their own, I guess. If that kit is un-heroic, then IMO, every alpha/Legioss suffers that same issue. I do agree though, this scale isn't the best scale for this kit, as it's pretty small to begin with. Perhaps another 1/48 kit would've been the way to go.
  13. I like the 1J, but in either case, you really can't go wrong.
  14. I think that kit looks frakking awesome. Not too big on the small size, but really badass. I have the Imai kit, and that kit doesn't look nearly as good as this. I think it's in the detail. IMO, it's probably the best Armo Soldier sculpt so far. Very panel detailed. I'm in for one.
  15. Kinda, sorta. "Created by the Robotech people" depends on the scope of the meaning created, but in te question of awesome, I wouldn't go there. Having some mad scientist who gets a wiff of protoculture flower juice, then gets X-File black eyes, then goes to develop a bunch of stuff by accident, does seem a bit contrived. Again, I think it goes back to the arsenal of creative minds involved, and back then, there weren't many. Now, there's a few, but probably amount to about 1/4 of what a normal creative writer could do. And I'm not talking about fan wank garbage that has come from HG for a lonnnnng time. Actual story that is convincing.
  16. That looks absolutely awesome. Sack lunches for awhile.
  17. Well, you have a crew at HG that doesn't seem to have the creative scope to create in-depth characters on their own. They've tried to over develop the established characters, to a point where it almost seems like forced backstory. It's pretty obvious when almost everyone is related to everyone, and everyone is tied to someone else. All the minor characters have these backstories that are almost more elaborate than the lead characters, and while that's usually a good sign of being thorough story tellers, incorporating all of it in the story seems to convolute the plot. 95% crap, 5% good stuff. This is totally evident by the fact that it's not new story at all, just rehashed in some different location in the same timeline, over and over again.
  18. I'd really challenge the "fragility" of the v.2 VF-1. I own about 9 of them, and while my first two needed attention to the shoulders, the others have been just great, and I handle those quite a bit. Back on topic, it appears that whatever Yamato is doing, they are being more self aware of the QC issues, unlike when these YF-19s were first coming out. If they didn't have QC inspectors then, they may have one now, as their toys have had much better quality than before. I'm sure it's also a challenge for someone in a factory to see possible issues with a toy that has so many mechanical parts and internal mechanisms. While this isn't an excuse for Yamato, it seems they are evolving at a very decent rate. We've gone from the 1/72 Macross plus items, to the v.1 VF-1, to the 1/48s, to the 1/60 line in roughly ten years. Not bad, considering their engineering of such complicated toys seems to be better than Bandai, a well established toy manufacturer for how long? I have to admit that I've never had any serious issues with Yamato toys, and the few that I have had, were fixable, and in comparison, not as bad as some other brands I've had.
  19. All this had made me laugh pretty hard, so thanks all. You know, it's gotta be a heap of coals on his head knowing that when one of us speak on this board, we listen, but when he speaks, we all laugh at him. If that's not a telling of his credibility, I don't know what is. But, I guess getting validation from a few (and I mean literally in the scope of all this, by few) f*tards is enough for him to keep getting ridiculed. It's almost too easy. What should I say now to make him whack out?
  20. Why can't it be that suffering leads to anger, and anger leads to hate? Or, doesn't hate lead to anger as well, and that leads to suffering, or hate leada to suffering, and suffering leads to anger? Damn you, Yoda, for all your confusing talk.
  21. Hmmm, I hope the one I sold holds out strong. I never messed with it, so it should be good, but even after I sell stuff, I hope that the new owner is able to enjoy it as much as I did. I'd hate to hear that something I sold disintegrated at the joints. I sold mine in hopes of, a new version, but now I really hope that happens. It's sad to hear this, but since this item is a bit dated, what would Yamato really be able to do about it at this point. Hopefully, if anything, they are, and continue to use better, more durable materials.
  22. The only issue with this the "conversation", is that bendo was told the day that Gubaba can't do it, due to work, timeframe, or whatever, and that's the one time that he's picked. It's a very passive aggressive way of skirting the confrontation, and a diluted way to make him feel like he's won some imaginary battle. What makes it even more funny, is the fact that most people without the "issues" he has, can see through that. I wonder if he thought we wouldn't. To add, I don't think everyone here has been burned. I'd say people here are the ones who just got fed up, but I don't know about burned. It'd take a lot for someone to really get burned, and I don't think anyone here really falls into that. ANYWAYS...Pro-toe-coal-cha, we love it, we need it, we are addicts?
  23. I'm hoping to get a copy of the software soon. I have been cleaning my office out, and hopefully it turns out. It's kinda a mess.
  24. I've never credited it either. Even just before it aired, there was Voltron, which was Go Lion. Then you have many others. Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman), Speed Racer (Mach Go Go?) Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, and the list goes on. During the time that Robotech had been aired, there was a trend already starting, where t.v. stations were starting to see the quality in Japanese anime, and if they weren't bringing it over, they were hiring their staff, artists, and/or, attempting to replicate their animation style themselves. Had Robotech not been there, it's easily conceivable that anime would still make it into a semi-mainstream status. I believe the claim that Robotech made Japanese anime popular is just an empty, extremely subjective claim that Robotech fans and employees hold onto, to validate its existence.
  25. Delay? Delay over what? And yeah, it sounds like a lie, as they delay just about everything.
