  1. I will listen in tomorrow.
  2. Which makes me ask even more, WHY??? Note to the Super RT fringe fanwanks, doing something just because it can, doesn't equate to a good idea, or a smart decision. When the "creative staff's" greatest idea is to mix and match new animation with some that are 25 years old, It's quite easy to criticize.
  3. What I see funny here, is many are making comparisons on screen shot of the t.v. show, that has the anime magic, that makes certain parts bigger or smaller for aesthetics of the screen shot. It can't be everything it was in the cartoon, and while I'm sometimes guilty of that myself, I have to realize that it's a real toy, and is engineered to incorporate all we expect, and at the most line art accurate it can be. Not an easy task. All that said, I like it. I'll be getting one. I probably won't get the D, but it just depends on finances at the time.
  4. Supposedly, it's going to be like the Robotech Invasion comic, where it's before the 21st Mars Division invasion. It supposedly showed Dana, probably leaving, and that was new animation. It's not a direct rip of LLA, just (again) taking footage, and chopping it to something they want. Hahaha, you can blame me, but I put the word out sometime after I heard it. I don't come up with stupid ideas like that, and I wouldn't think of doing that to LLA. Don't forget, this is supposed to be "Carl's Vision", which really means, Tommy's idea covered under a person who is no longer here, so if he needs to throw someone under the bus, Carl can't defend himself.
  5. I can just picture it now, they're jumping in the air to chest slap each other with the song "Do the Homie" in the background (look up Boondocks for it on youtube). I know this isn't going to be LLA, but the fact that they're using it, just gives so many people, including Robotech fans, a bad taste in the mouth. Oh, and let's not kid ourselves here, this isn't "Carl's vision". Carl may have had an idea, but Tommy still runs that part of it, so this is all his idea. I do know, pretty much for a fact, that the "Carl's vision" thing, is going to be Tommy's excuse to revert to if people get pissed at it. Also, it is his way of diverting blame, and to lighten people's anger. "How can we be mad, when this was Carl's last idea?" BULL$HIT!
  6. I heard genetically enhanced crops are great for this time of year (cropped and probably some color saturation, perhaps with some more cleanup to fit the new animation). Judging by what has been seen, and screen captures of what they seem to want to do, it looks like they will go that route. Then again, on that, it's speculation based on their ill-conceived actions. If you think about it though, if they decide to just keep this in 4:3 which I know Tommy loves, maybe they'll keep it like that, and use some lame excuse like, "they wanted to keep it close to Carl's vision for the time, so we didn't do it in Widescreen." I dunno, I'm indirectly giving them backhanded ideas here. Maybe their new Vice president of marketing can come up with a good spin on that. Now, that is funny.
  7. I kinda knew what it was going to be, but at the same time, I wanted to be wrong. They're way late in the game, doing the same chop job to old animation and making it into something else. New animation? Fine, whatever, but then you're going to add stuff that was fine as is? President of animation my a$$! Sad for Mospeada fans IMO, a frakking joke to the RT fans. I didn't go to it, but I also heard from a friend who did, that the entire documentary was shot in Standard Definition, they used the same generic background for all the interviewees, AND, they mistitled Richard Epcar's roles he did in Robotech. From what I heard hanging out with friends afterward, was that if you saw it at the panels at conventions, you pretty much saw the entire thing. The GOOD thing that was mentioned about it, was that it was a true look back from the voice actors at the history in making it. Politics and asinine, narcissistic tendencies aside from the "creative staff", that seems to be the the only good thing out of that 30-40 minutes, and the bar and food. LOVE, LIVE, ALIVE....Yeah, saw that coming and damn...WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!
  8. A couple of us were saying this last year, and people thought we were nucking futs. Told ya! And yeah, that's pretty bad.
  9. So, people are coming out to HG tonight in the fancy garb, to watch a DVD extra about Robotech, then have a after party "Tommy-wank" fest. I so frakkin' wish I could just spill the proverbial beans on some of the issues, and idiot decisions. Some will be obvious after people get this, some I'm not sure if it'll come out, but very interesting stuff. Then, there's the stuff, that even if you don't necessarily like Robotech, you wish it was OK to just shoot spitwads at them. Some amount of ridicule will come, as they almost ask for it with their "direction".
  10. Ahhh, I hate this new board, as it jumbles all the mulitquotes together. Anyways, They'll always use it in merchandising, which comics, video games, and that sort, fall under. Even though story can be told via those types of media, I think HG wants to stay away from that, as the comics that told the Tommy story were crap beyond crap. The art was better than comico and the other comics previous, but if that's the only plus to them, then again, the lack of impact with their ability to tell a decent story rears its head again. I remember Tommy and co. saying something that had verified this a long time ago. I'm sure one of the moron minions will start pouting and saying "show me proof". Hmmm, I would reply, "show me proof that it isn't the case". I wonder if all the people realize that they are going to a theater to watch a documentary that is an extra in a DVD that runs about 30 minutes, and they have to dress formal for the event. There's some interesting facts about this documentary that I know will pop up later. Some of it is things that are just so incredibly stupid, you have to shake your head at, to things that just don't make sense, and a lot of tell tale signs of incompetency. Good stuff on our end, I guess.
  11. HG could do whatever they want to the footage they have, except make anything derivative from the designs. TAside from rearranging the footage, HG is pretty much stuck in a rut with it. So far, it seems that all they can do (and not all that well IMO) is repackage, and resell the same ol' stuff. All HG can really do with the Macross episodes, is cleanup the picture, which has already been done. A reboot of Robotech would be cool, but it wouldn't have Macross in it at all. And, as has been said many times as well, do you think HG really has the right staff for that? They barely know their head from their stinky parts, so there you go.
  12. Thanks, buddy, been going through the online tutorials for some more difficult processes, and anything you got would be cool. BTW, I started work on the prototype GU-11 gunpod in 1/60 scale. It's the gun that is on the front cover of the Shoji Kawamori Design Works book. Should be done hopefully saturday, and I sent these pieces in to get printed. Should get them next week or early week after.
  13. It probably works out better to hold off the "official" MW con till next year. Afterall, next year is the 30th anniv. Perhaps if I can get some people to help out, I'll see if the location that we were going to use this year will be available next year, and I'll do the coordinating. I figured the life change might've been part of it, and you don't need to apologize for that at all. You've definitely done some great work with the previous several.
  14. Alright, found the stuff, I'll be getting it ready, and sending it out probably tomorrow or Wednesday. You're good to go.
  15. Solidworks 2011. I've tried Autodesk 123D, but I have to play with it more to get a more firm grasp on it. All the same, since I'm working with Solidworks now, I might as well streamline what I want to do with this, then figure if the other one is easier or not. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with the results, and will be getting these prototyped, cleaned, and will be part of the custom valks I do with the blank 1/60 Yamato kits.
  16. Hmmm, the t.v show supercedes the movie, and the movie supercedes the t.v. show, since both are supposedly canon. They're going to implode on each other, and cancel each other out.
  17. Thanks for the compliment. I don't have one, but there's places you can submit your models to get done.
  18. I think the consensus this year was to keep this year simple, and after a tentative date was pretty much set, I can't really say what happened afterwards. In anycase, holding of till next year for the official convention seems like what's going to happen. I know there were some people willing to host something, perhaps that would be an option for something small at least?
  19. OK, so after seeing the possibilities of 3D modeling through a MW member here, I decided to give it a shot. I got a crash course in basic 3D modeling, and decided to jump into in mostly for making toy accessories and all that. Anyways, I've been working with this program for about a week, and I decided to make some missiles, both real world, and from Macross. I made these 3 wing attached weapons: the Paveway II 2000lb bomb, the jamming pod featured on the VEA-1 Platypus, and the MPBMS multi-missile launcher from Macross Frontier. For you 3D modelers, your comments are always welcome, let me know what you think. I'm also putting them up for sale, and created an interest thread for them. It's up in the for sale section, or you can just click on my signature. Anyways, enjoy. I'm working on more this week, too, so I hope to have pics of more.
  20. This is why you're not supposed to ask questions about trivial stuff in Robotech. You get interpretations for stuff that isn't answered. As well, when it is answered, like in the Tommy comics (Tomics), you gotta think, either the story holds, and the RDF/REF, Southern Cross are just stupid imbeciles, or it doesn't hold, and is just a proverbial swiss cheese of plot holes. Either way, the quality idea factory for this franchise has been long gone from HG for years and years.
  21. I think not so shining sales put the Phalanx on hold for a long time, but with the success of the kit toys (1/2000 SDF-1, Regult, and the VF-1 kits), they feel confident enough to put it out as one of those kits. I doubt they'd do the Spartan, but if they do, I'm thinking it'd be one of these build-it-yourself toy kits.
  22. Welcome to the Yunieverse, where things that didn't make much sense get even more convoluted and full of crap than before.
  23. I'm not saying Die cast is worthless, but needs to be put in parts that benefit the toy, not hamper it. Good example is the shoulder section. The fact that people are complaining about some of that section, as well as the legs loosening on their own isn't using die cast in the right spots. I can't say anything about this toy, as none of us have it yet, but hearing the complaints is a reason for concern. I have the Alto on preorder, so hopefully we can all just be happy about the new design, and have nothing to be upset about.
  24. That's kinda how just about every quirk and plot hole is explained away. I get a good kick out of seeing some of the lunatic fringe and others, argue about what the best answer for crap like that is. How about the saying "The simplest answer is often the right answer". In this case, it's dialogue error that doesn't fit the animation. As for the mounds, I guess the lame explanation is the place got abandoned after it got built, and somehow a process that takes hundreds, if not thousands of years got done in maybe a decade? I gotta say, even as a kid, watching this in 85, and hearing that, never made sense to me, but somehow, it makes sense to a bunch of people as adults. Oh well.
  25. It seems that one of Bandai's major flaws, is that they still seem to think that diecast in these types of toys is actually a good thing. The fact is, it's not. It weighs down the toy, and with moving parts, has a tendency to loosen up over short periods of time. This is where Yamato has it right. I'm not going to trash Bandai over Yamato, but Bandai needs to step into the 21st century, and start using good plastic and A LOT less, or no die cast. It only makes the item heavier and loose, and with manufacturing technology today, doesn't offer any benefits for the aesthetic portions of a toy.
