  1. Geez, over $500 shipped. No thanks. If you really want one, I'm sure it's easy to make in scale, and at maybe a 10th the price. Just take a trip to Michael's OK, I know my next Sheryl purchase
  2. That article brings up some interesting subjects. Macross is one of those animes that has been put in a very peculiar sect of animes that is set to go worldwide, but just has legal baggage holding it down (cough cough, Harmony Gold). Being that it is currently distributed through Bandai, finding a company to put it out here isn't an issue. It really comes down to the ass of anime, HG, to liquidate, relinquish the holds it has, and/or simply just disappear. For now, I think the first steps would be to simply add english subs on the Blu-Ray, which, from talks I've had with people directly involved, are very interested. Unfortunately, there's several companies involved, and that's where the red tape gets tangled. It's a toss up as to why they haven't gone that route yet, and HG wouldn't be able to do a thing about it, but no one knows the reason why it hasn't been done. Some hypothesize that it's because of the cost, but I don't think it's that, or just that. Who knows? We can try to analyze it all day, but we'll just never know unless someone ask the right people.
  3. Hmmm $500 w/ shipping included??? Holy Yen to Dollar conversion, Batman, that's a lot of money!!! This is where one really needs to time the sell of this toy. Wait too long, and it may deflate. Sell too early, and you don't make as much. Mine is mint in box, and only taken out to examine. I may wait till I get my booster set, then sell at a monstrous amount. I want to get the 17, and the Emerald Force 19 with that money.
  4. If it's roughly 10 pages, they are conserving pages to stretch it out monthly. I wish they'd explore a bit more and not just follow a loose retelling. It seems like they maybe doing that, but there's so many aspects of the story that can be explored and branched out with. I hope they do that, and I hope the popularity of this manga supports an updated SDF Macross. I don't think it'd take away from the original, but will definitely give a substantial connect between the older Macross fans, and the new fans coming from Frontier.
  5. I wasn't aware of the region coding for BR. Probably because of the fact that I don't buy anything outside of the U.S. and/or Japan. Well, in this subject of Macross, BR region shouldn't mean much then.
  6. With Blu-ray, you don't need to worry about region coding. As for the DVDs, the $70-$90 price range is high, but I've seen that for the Frontier Blu-rays, not for the DVDs. I don't know any company manufacturing the region 0 DVDs, but if they are becoming available, I'd like to know what company is doing that. So far, all I've known of region zero is what fansubbers and personal movie makers use.
  7. I can think of a couple valks I could get for that price.
  8. Wouldn't know. I've never been in there, only the theater. As for what they do in there, obviously not much.
  9. I think it's smaller than 8Gigs. I have it on a 16Gig drive that has tons of stuff, and it's just about full. Edit: Actually, I just looked at it now, and it's quite small. Probably a 2 or 4 gig would work fine.
  10. I still get all the info, not the invites.
  11. She is a Macross fan, and likes the Frontier series. She knows the characters, and when we go to conventions, she sees the figurines at the vendor tables and all that.
  12. So, if I put mine down for $500, is that a good deal compared to theirs??? Hahaha.
  13. That's a bummer you have to get permission/approval from the GF to buy a figure. While I do understand some figures are a bit out there, I'd think the only one that would be questionable would be the Pin-up art Sheryl. I think the best looking one is probably the M.H. Sheryl in blue, then the Kimono Sheryl. My wife thinks they look great. She's not going to buy them for me, but when she sees one I don't have, she asks if I'm going to get it. I think she liked the Kimono one best, as it's very articulated. I'm looking forward to the next Kuji version.
  14. They definitely hate Darkwater, Tom, and I at HG. Apparently, they're looking for more people to volunteer to be Robotech moderators. One of my friends, who was loyal to the franchise and was a moderator, told them that he'd be a moderator again, but he was demoted simply for knowing Darkwater, Tom, and I. Immediately following that, he was banned. They attack people who actually support(ed) the franchise now, and it has an interesting ring to the whole thing. We are turning all Robotech fans into Macross fans, as well as making pigs grow buffalo wings, and fly. We also do it, while sippin' on Dom P. I think when that herobot guy says something, it only relates to China. Just throw in "in China" for his news, and you get the idea.
  15. Look like a pain in the you-know-what to walk in. Great costume though.
  16. Been trying to get good software to him, but everytime I burn it on a CD, the setup file doesn't work. On my thumb drive, it does, so....options. I'd like to see this finished up, too.
  17. If he's that easy to figure out (which he is and has been), who's been playing who? It's an easy process.
  18. They can't, from what I'm aware of, reinforce a c & d for the word "official". Besides, his claims of thousands of listeners is just a sham, no matter what he tries to do to pad the numbers. So, if all he has is just a couple listeners, I don't think anyone really cares. As for HG going to Big West to get the toys brought over here, I honestly don't think that would make Yamato, or Big west any more money than what they make now with the same items. If HG had to pay for rights to use those toys, there'd still be a large price tag factoring in the shipping, repackaging (if needed), taxes, and adding on extra to cover for the rights. It'd probably end up with the same price tag as they are now, and that money would be going to a crap franchise. HG's problem is that they think the RT franchise is much bigger than it really is. Sure, they have lots of fans, but A LOT of those fans don't buy a lot of stuff, like Macross fans do. Sure, Macross has hundreds more product to choose from, but when HG/Toynami put out a "Masterpiece" anything, and they only sell 3-5K, there's something wrong with the franchise. They just don't see it, but that's good for people who are tired of seeing garbage, I guess.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if Tommy is just going to ride the coat tails of the Macross 30th anniversary. Still, I find it quite funny that Macross has all these epic items and things coming out, and all Robotech has is a small side story that isn't out yet, and a calendar. Riding the coat tails of Macross though, maybe he's emulating Carl in this idea. I don't know. As for the Zor picture, it's the same picture, same pose that every other character is done in. Why does that just seem so generic? Nevermind, I answered my own question, cause it is. OK, done laughing.
  20. To touch on your first point, Kawamori didn't work on Macross II, so to him, it's probably secondary, alternate story. It doesn't invalidate it, cause it's still there, but as part of the main canon, I guess it's just a matter of preference. In regards to the Japanese animators and "The Sentinels", most of what you are describing that he said is all conjecture, and that opinion has about as much weight as the nucleus of a Helium atom. He often inserts his opinion as fact, and in turn, shows just how stupid he is. Not the first time that's happened, and definitely not the last. As a matter of fact, you can track when that's going to happen simply by seeing when the next podcast will be. It's like an advertisement to stupidity...Coming Soon! For the last point you summarized, that just seems like a classic issue of diggin himself in a hole, and then fumbling to get himself out with a diversion of pure make believe. There's many people who do this sort of thing...they're called nutjobs, conspiracy theorists, small minded, etc, etc. They're only good for one thing, and that's a laugh when you wanna hear stupidity in absolute, unadulterated seriousness. I haven't listened to the podcast, and haven't listened in many months. I usually just wait for someone's run down when it goes up, or it's something really to laugh at. So, I salute you for holding up through that, but pace yourself.
  21. It is a polished SLS for most of it. I've tried using other materials for a higher resolution and there's an option to grow them with a clear type material that is semi clear, high detail, but also brittle (IMO). In any case, these are just material choices I have to make. I still will clean it up for recasting. I updated the gun, and I think it looks much better. The front nose portion of it is now one solid, instead of a formation of 2 or 3. I'm much happier with the end result here.
  22. Yeah, I know, just wanted to keep the crazy rants going. It's a process.
  23. That Angel Birds Joon's Valk brings back memories. Many a good ones. Pretty to look at and all. I remember when those were just about all that were available for the larger lines. I love what's out there now, but it's nice to look back every now-and-again.
  24. So, does anyone think they'll turn the Robotech: Love Live Alive into a Moresopedia II sequel in Japan? If you didn't get the reference, someone should fill you in.
  25. I can't really see it too well, but I'll take a look at the entire component list and see what I got. If I have that piece, I'll shoot you a pm. I save them as .stl files. Not really usable for animating or high detail, and I don't think for putting a skin on it, but it will send the data to a 3D printer. Thanks for the compliment. I don't have the 3D printer but there are sites and companies that will grow the parts for you. Depending on the detail you want, material, etc., they can become quite pricey. What I use is not the cheap print, but not bank breaking either.
