I do like their weirdly named Gnerl. I did back their campaign, but in just looking over the way the Kickstarter is setup, I think anyone with some sense of analytics could tell this is born to fail. Offering a number of different figures, and various larger mecha in one shot is a lot for people to figure out. It's also a bad time to have something like this, considering people are also buying gifts for family and their significant others and all that. I'd actually buy everything they are releasing, but when some of those have a proposed release date of September of next year, yeah, that's a bit too long. They should've just did it for the figures, and maybe even half of them, and with the amount of money they've raised so far, if we were dividing that money into the amount of products, they'd have enough to at least release 1/3 of it. They need to pull this off, and rethink how they want to do this. Maybe start with the Glaug, and a few of the figures, then the Gnerl with more figures, then then maybe the recon pod with others. Better yet, don't do a damn Kickstarter, as people like me have been burned by them. I only back highly reliable companies now, so I kinda trust this, but even as a backer, if this got funded, I'd be extremely nervous.

Same to you. Updates will be coming at some point.

It's going to be on hold for the rest of the year due to a few things, one being holidays, but the other being school. I'm working on a second degree (for job promotion), so my time in working on projects has been much more limited. That said, I am getting a Revopoint Metro X scanner that I will be using to take care of some of the bulk design features that have taken up a lot of the time. I'll be able to do a bit more of this once I get some of that done, but in the meantime, there isn't much headway with new parts.

That'd be great. There's a lot of members here I have not met, so it'd be great to meet new and old fans.

Thanks for this info. I was finally able to order this through Buyee. I have it set as an extension on my home computer browser, but still had to put in the link. I ordered 2, so now it's just a waiting game.

This, I'd be happy to get one, but I'm not so sure about the Tornado pack. I already have that from the Renewal version, so Revival version is very unnecessary. AND I already have a revival version. I don't need two of the same thing. But this, I'm looking forward to.

I'll have to buy this when I get home. I'm not getting any options to buy using Buyee, so I don't know if that's the work computer or not. Either way, I'm glad this is coming.

Or make it a yard long drink, and every time you sip, it's like firing the main gun.

LOL, I'd love to make a Regult popcorn bucket...... Wait.... ideas incoming...

Just to clarify, it wouldn't be official memorabilia, but just something given as a thank you for meeting up type of thing.

I think someone is already looking into this, so it depends on how many we can seat, price, time, and how the list works. I think we just add people to a list, so if we can get this set up, we'll start rolling with it. Just out of curiosity, there's a couple ideas floating around. First is doing it in conjunction with another event to maximize people that'd like to go. It'd also help the event we piggyback off of. OR... We just do this separate and a loan project, in which it'd be local to SoCal, and those that are willing to travel, but it'd be it's own thing. In either case, off hand, if you had an opportunity to go to something like this, maybe even get a cool few little event memorabilia, how much would you be willing to pay for that (not knowing how much the theater cost)?

This is something I'll probably look at doing next year. I'd like to see this done. There's a few people looking at doing something in a new format for next year, so if they want to do this, I hope to look at them to organize this. The issue that I think was brought up was that since it's not something that anyone has done, we'd need to figure out a way to cover the expenses. We can't charge at the box office (at least I don't think so), so however that works out, we'd need to figure out seating capacity, and find a way to make it work. It wouldn't be a business doing it either, so we'd need to make it a thing that works to cover the costs. @Shawn, I think someone, if not myself, will probably get in contact with you soon about this idea. When you mentioned it to me at RTF, it sounded like a great idea. I've seen DYRL in theater once in Japan when the blu ray first came out, but that was back in 2014. It'd be a great time seeing it in that setting with a bucket of popcorn and a soda.

This is depressing, but doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. At Wonderfest this past February, the VF-5000, nor the Minmay figurine wasn't on display from what I saw. Also, all they seemed to have was re-release stuff. There's so much potential, but it's just going nowhere. Has there even been news on the VF-5K? I don't use X.com

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Release Thread
Jasonc replied to sh9000's topic in Movies and TV Series
I definitely agree that it had things that I missed. It wasn't close to the definitive version, but the cost of that one and this isn't too far off. With that, I felt a bit more at ease being able to eventually pull the trigger on this. It may be sacrilege, but while I'm happy to be seeing this, I'm more excited for the MII release, even if I'm not the biggest fan of Kickstarter funded projects. I am looking forward to some of the cool little additions this will have as well.- 214 replies

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Release Thread

Ah man, don't give me goals. I have the Yamato helmets, so I guess if I'm gonna go that route, I might as well destroy it in one sitting.- 214 replies

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Release Thread
Jasonc replied to sh9000's topic in Movies and TV Series
I know I'm late to the party, simply because I wanted to not deal with the usual complaining that we all do on a number of things. At some point, I did dive in and get this limited edition thing, and while expensive, it's around the same price I believe I paid for the Japanese blu ray release that came out several years before. That one had almost everything we needed on that, and I was OK with that one. I really thought hard as to why I needed (which no one really does) to get this as part of my collection, but I think I did just out of the sheer fact that I am fortunate enough to be able to easily afford it now. That wasn't the case a few years ago when I got the Japanese blu ray. The other reason is that this will be the first release of a Macross blu ray going out legally since the blockade started way back when. I don't know if those LPs are a new edition that can be added, but to be direct here, I have no interest in them. I do buy LPs from time to time as a habit since my early DJ days when I had my 2 Technics 1200s and a mixer, but the records I usually buy are stuff that I would play if I were DJing, not to pretend I'm some posh Macross collector that only listens to Macross LP while sipping some SDF-1 whiskey (geez, I just pictured that, LOL). I have like 2 copies of each CD, and even then, this show didn't have a lot of music I cared for. I mean, I love Kanno's music and she made the music really work for this, but I've long since copied the CDs onto iTunes and then put them on my phone. LPs at this point for this genre make no sense at all.- 214 replies

Got me 2 copies as well. So far, this is my favorite issue because I absolutely love Patlabor. It's like mixing chocolate and peanut butter.

I pretty much finished it awhile ago. I made parts that were to compliment the set that was already made at the Wonderfest years ago. I may end up recasting them, which I can't sell, but I can sell the parts I created that make those parts actually work. The backpack piece actually works now, and will hold the lance in all modes, the lance, when using 3mm steel tubing, creates a solid base for the lance that now doesn't bend. Other than that, I was originally going to recreate all the original parts, but it just got to be too much to do things that were already done. I still have parts for it available, just haven't priced out the set of everything. Of course, anyone that wants it can just pm me, and I can talk about it with them. I gotta dig out those files. I have folders full of 3D parts, so I just need to find where I placed them.
-
Put me down for 1. I'm cool with getting an unfinished set.
-
Yes, that is true. It'd be a matter of actually having something I made from scratch licensed as a sellable product. I haven't even thought about it, and probably won't until I get closer to finishing it.

I just got mine yesterday from BBTS, and I'm mostly happy to say that the antenna on mine was ever so slightly bent. I could easily put a sponge around it, clip it tight, and it'll straighten out. I do like the way the legs extend during the transformation, as it makes them much sturdier, but this thing, having lots of little parts to move around, take out, etc. is quite excessive. I guess it has to do that to make it transform and look as well as it does, but it's a lot.

I use the Kiki fix loose joints stuff for loose joints on my 25 series. Well, it's the same as floor polish and all, so it's basically the same thing, but anything like that water based polyurethane will help make those joints nice and tight. On one of my junk 25s, I've been thinking of trying a thin layer of aluminum foil to see how that does as far as stiffening the joints. Not a complete wrap, as that means technically doubling the layer around a ball, but just enough to test it out with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of movement. I have a feeling it'll fail over time due to metal vs. plastic, but I could also look into thin ear bud like rubber that is found in earphone pieces. Sadly, all these great toys will suffer from this problem at some point.

For my stuff, I will probably sell a .stl file of it, but will also offer a high quality print using an engineering resin that can print with all the same qualities as ABS (Form Labs Tough 2000, V.5 clear, and maybe Tough 1500 with elastic properties). Printing them wouldn't be cheap by any means, but I really have to look into it. The other option is I may sell it at Wonder Festival Japan once it's done.

Yeah, I'll definitely get it. Not the best sculpt, but it definitely has a unique cuteness to it.
