What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0

Looks awesome, will be watching this when it comes out! -
Does Martin tone down the sex after Book 2? I absolutely LOVED Book 1, but Book 2 felt like reading a porno (maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but not much). Do books 3 and 4 improve any on this or do they pick up where Book 2 leaves off?

Ok, thanks for the review. Shame it hasn't turned out to be "the" definitive volume, but I'll probably pick it up anyway just to see the differences myself.

Thanks for the effort sketchley, much appreciated!

I've been wondering about the Wave model as well. The Wave site hasn't been updated since September. I hope the project hasn't been scraped, the preproduction pieces looked amazing!

Reposting this info from GEARS Online. Looks like Five Star Stories will be continuing starting with a 7 volume reboot of the series with the 13th volume being released about a year after the first release of the reboot. Thanks go to Euhsung over at GEARS Online for translating this info: "Many apologies for the long hiatus of the Five Star Stories. Once production of the animated feature GothicMade is finished, work on the Five Star Stories will restart. The Five Star Stories: Reboot is a commemorative edition printed for the Five Star Stories' 25th anniversary 2011, and was the result of a proposition made by Newtype. Reboot is a compilation of the serialized material, published in the same format as existing Tankoben. Following serialization order, covers and top pages will be included at the beginning of each serialization chapter. All material that has been modified in the conversion to Tankoben format will be presented as-is when serialized. To prevent user confusion, all terminology will be updated to the latest revision (e.g.ダムゲートコントロール for Dam-Gate Control, レッド-ミラージュ -> L.E.D-ミラージュ for LED Mirage). The latest revision uses the Design series as reference. Readers may wonder about the future status of the existing Tankoben with the release of designs. This issue will be clarified hereafter, so there is no need for worry. Reboot will sell alongside the 'Official' (existing) Tankoben temporarily. Volume 13 is expected to be published about a year after serialization resumes. At that time, all Tankoben (up to and including 13) will be republished in the Newtype (serialization) format. All Tankoben published hereafter will also use this format. Reboot is published in the smaller format identical to that of existing Tankoben; however, content is arranged predominantly by story chapter. Therefore, Reboot will condense the 12 existing Tankoben of material into 7 books. Please wait just a bit longer for serialization to resume. I promise it will be satisfying to all. Nagano Mamoru, 2010-12-18 -No news of D4. -7 volumes published every 2 months ~ Feb 2010 is the promised date -New models by Tani Akira (LED Mirage), Volks (Prominence and Neptune, Auge Arusqull, Jagd Mirage), Volks, etc. to be announced. -Format of Reboot is B5 (JIS); Future volumes will be in B4 (JIS), as per Newtype. Note that English volumes are in B4 (JIS). -Serialization chapter refers to each unit of ~32 pages in each Newtype magazine. Story Chapter is as follows: 1: Destiny Lachesis 2: Clotho the Sleeping Witch 3: Traffics I 4: Wandering Atropos 5: The Chivalries 6: The Majestic Stand 7: Full Fragile 8: Monarch Sacred ...etc" Five Star Stories Homepage: http://automaticflowers.ne.jp/

Got the VF-22S Max from the hlj sale. It is gorgeous! Love the color! The left wing is looser than the right wing, but it stays up fine. I've transformed it to battloid and back to fighter once which was a long ordeal. Like how everything clicks together, pretty solid overall. Just have to practice the transformation till I can get the belly plates flush. On the fence about getting another 22S. It'll be Millia's if I do, for obvious reasons

Anyone know where I can stream Lupin III: The Secret of Mamo and the Gold of Babylon? The torrents I found haven't moved for a couple of days. Also, just watched Black Rock Shooter. Definitely interesting, was wondering at first what was going on since the show switched back and forth between two girls at school and two demon girls fighting, but figured it out towards the end. Anyone know more about the background of the show? Tried looking it up, but only found info about what happens in the show itself. -
I bought the VF-22S Max yesterday. Always held off cause it was so expensive, but couldn't pass up with 50% off! Not sure if I'll get the Millia or the Gamlin, have to see how well I like Max and then wait for another sale.

Yeah, the story quality dropped a bit in Last Order, but I didn't really mind until vol. 13. That was a real let down for me. Vol. 14 comes out next month, hopefully it will be much better.

Been playing the demo for the PS3 version of ME2. Looks fantastic! Quite eager for January 18 to come so I can pick this up!

Cagliostro is one of my favorite films period. I regularly watched Lupin back when it was coming on Cartoon Network, but Cagliostro is the only thing I own. I'll try to find the two films listed here; if they're anything like Cagliostro I'll gladly update my favorite films list. -
Ok, I'll have to read up on that and rewatch both movies to see if I can pick out the elements you mention, hopefully he will finish the manga one day. Thanks for the responses. I may check out a few like Ghost in the Shell (always heard that it's different from the movies and the series) and K-On! (haven't seen the anime yet). May have to get back into Blade of the Immortal. Picked up the first few issues years ago and loved it, but got off of it for some reason; probably a good time to reread those books.

Been reading through the Appleseed books that I got about a year ago, but never read, and have really been enjoying the complexity of the story. Only have the first three volumes; need to get volume four and the hypernotes if they're still available. Kinda bummed that Shirow hasn't finished the series yet, but I'll enjoy rereading what I've got for now. Anyway, this led me to think about other manga series I enjoy and thought I'd post the question here to see what everyone else is into. My favorite manga are: Five Star Stories: probably the greatest mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and mythology I've read. Love the amount of detail and that the story isn't necessarily told in chronological order. This helps in fleshing out the massive cast of characters, allowing the story to jump from one point in time to another to focus on different events. Also, it has some of the most beautiful mechs I've ever seen in a manga series! Hopefully it'll be finished sometime this century.... Battle Angel Alita: first manga series I ever read back in high school. Got the first volume as a gift at a Christmas party. I remember looking at it, thinking I wouldn't like it at all, then read it through twice that night and a few more times the next day! Great coming of age/self discovery story in a cyberpunk setting. The more recent issues in the story (Last Order) have taken on a fight of the week formula and the author has put the series on indefinite hiatus, but still a very thought-provoking series (especially the first nine volumes) that will hopefully see completion someday. Bleach: love this series because of it's unpredictability. When I think the series is going to go in one direction, it ends up going in one I hadn't anticipated. Has probably the greatest double cross ever! So, what's your favorite manga?

I'm hoping to get all of the current blu ray collections of FMA: Botherhood and the Valkyrie Chronicles game for PS3. I'm trying to decide if I should get the Selvaria Bles complete figure, the VF-1S TV Roy, or the VF-22 Gamlin as a gift for myself. I could get the valks from HLJ; was thinking of getting the figure from amiami, but I've never ordered from them before and don't have a paypal account. To those who've used paypal, what's your experience with it?

Been rewatching Zeta Gundam, just finished episode 10. Watching these eps has reminded me why I like UC Gundam shows....angst-ridden kids get the crap beat out of them! -
Totally agree. I like multiplayer when it's working as it should, but these issues drag down the experience. I was on last night and had to stop because the connection interruptions were so frequent. I also have to agree about assault rifles and sub machine guns being the only real way to rack up points. The game definitely favors the use of these two classes over the others.
-
I like it. The single player campaign was more enjoyable than MW2 (which I liked as well). The multiplayer is great, but this is the first time I've ever played online in a Call of Duty game so I have nothing to compare it too. Some of my friends who played the multiplayer in MW2 think that is better, but still greatly enjoy it in Black Ops.

This is one of my favorite films! True, the melodrama is pretty thick, but Matsumoto still shows how real men are. How Harlock handled the cowardly Illumidas officer is priceless! -
I saw that too. Actually worked for me since I'm on the east coast and was at school when registration opened. I was scared I'd get home and see that the con had been sold out. Hope they figure something out soon though, really looking forward to going next year.
-
Yeah, I was thinking that too, but in reality, looking at the valks on the list, the 19 series was always the most likely to be made first. I think most people probably didn't vote for it for that reason (at least that's one of the reasons I voted for the VF-4).
-
Great news! This is probably the best anime movie I've seen this year. Definite buy!
