    Watched the first couple of episodes. I'm not a huge Star Wars nut, so I'm not terribly concerned with all the background lore. But there was something in episode 2 that was just so stupid that I couldn't ignore.

    Thanks for the kind words all, though Arcadia did 90% of the work. I just did the painstaking last 10% to bring out the level of detail hiding in this lovely bird. I stared at that gif forever trying to remember which episode of CYE that was from and I finally remembered! It's when what's-his-face catches the baby from the burning building.

    This isn't a defense or criticism of the domestic pricing. I was just pondering to myself that the HMR VF-0 was developed and the pricing structure decided on probably quite some time ago, before the plummeting of the yen in recent months which is why it's so cheap right now to buy from Japan. If the yen maintained its level from late last year, the yen price would be closer to around $125 before shipping. With shipping it would probably be in the $150-$160 range if you chose a fast shipping and didn't slow boat it. I have no evidence for this, so I'm probably just talking out my ass. Just something I was wondering to myself about looking at the domestic pricing vs Japanese pricing.

    I'm so used to Bandai cutting corners that the step back that the 31AX represented didn't come as much of a surprise to me. Want a tiny HMR VF-0 that costs almost as much as the DX VF-1J from just a couple years ago? Bandai's got you covered!

    A Kakizaki fan? I thought they were a myth! Kakizaki deserves more respect. Not much more, mind you. Perhaps even a little less.

    The Arcadia VF-4A is just a recolor/reissue of the old Yamato VF-4G from 10 years ago, which itself was a pretty much problem-free design (a rarity with valkyries). The worst problems are some loose joints and missiles that pop off sometimes. Nothing that some Kiki or nail polish can't fix.

    Thanks guys. Agreed that the VF-4 has an absolutely beautiful fighter and really stands out even among Kawamori's many other amazing valkyrie designs. If I had to pick my 3 favorite fighters, it'd be the VF-4, YF-19, and VF-25.

    Paid for mine at Amiami. $201 with DHL shipping. A bit cheaper than ordering domestically, but for me the real value is getting it months earlier.

    Especially given that this thing appears to be the same size and complexity of an HMR VF-1. And no way I would pay $170 for an HMR VF-1 with super parts, much less one without.

    I agree that the domestic prices are a bit steep for an HMR, even for a convenience fee. But you know the old adage "an item is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it" so if people are willing to pay that price to avoid late night PO rushes, then great for Bandai and US retailers. You're making a lot of assumptions for a toy none of us have yet. The wings only magically shrink during the few hand drawn scenes in the anime, but the CG wings are pretty consistently sized throughout, as one would expect from a CG model. If that's what "accuracy" means to you, then that's a good option to have. The tiny wings look a little ridiculous to me, but it does make poseability better. HMR valks all look like half-finished model kits with so much missing detail.

    Nothing wrong with that. One way of POing isn't inherently better than the other. I'm always up late so stopping by to nab a late night PO is no problem for me. Being the impatient cheapass that I am, I also don't want to wait 2-3 months later for the domestic release.

    Shipping on a small HMR is much less than a DX. Probably only around 2500-3000 yen if you're just shipping this by itself via DHL.

    Mine arrived too. I'll ship them later with Bogue's unit. The 31AX has been enough of a letdown that I'm in no hurry for more 31AX stuff.

    Got my two from HLJ and Amiami. I'm good. Domestic sites will have them soon enough. I'm just cheap and impatient.
