    Besides Bandai managing to screw up the nose, the rest of the valk looks good. Really like having a VF-25 with a matte finish. Maybe Bandai will reissue the Frontier valks retooled with matte finishes? Hopefully without screwing up the nose or any other parts that weren't broken before. Quick pics. Sorry my table is currently covered in valk parts, so floor pics with a phone for now.

    We get an all plastic tray instead of the usual cheapass styrofoam tray? Looking good so far! Bandai is catching up to the futuristic year 2000! Aaaand... the honeymoon's over. Hey @Mommar remember how you complained that the reviewers kept "mistransforming" the nose and leaving an unsightly gap? It seems it wasn't their fault. It's because Bandai's craptastic QC strikes again! The nose simply does not fit properly and leaves that ugly gap. Good f***ing job Bandai. You messed up a slightly tweaked reissue of a 10+ year old toy.

    The problem with BOBF wasn't that it took place on entirely on Tattooine. The problem was that the writing and characters were all hot garbage. The best part of the show was the accidental editing in of a completely different show.

    At this point I'm just buying to scratch my completionist itch, not out of any real enthusiasm for the 31AX toy. Looking forward much more to getting a new VF-25 very soon.

    Bandai's add-on parts always makes their valks flimsier, and the 31AX was already a bit dodgy to begin with...

    Those are secondhand shops. Those units are already sold as far as Bandai is concerned. It'd be a shelfwarmer if units were still available at first run shops (HLJ, Amiami, Yodobashi, etc.)

    Hope it's just transformed badly. Pretty lame if the heat shield leaves a huge gap like that.

    In short: the price increase due to shipping it from China/Japan to USA should be roughly the same per unit for the HMR VF-0 and RS Ez-8, being about the same size and weight each, all other things being equal. There's some shenanigans going on to inflate the price of the VF-0 domestically. Maybe all the guys at HG got bonuses for finally hammering out a deal with BW and that cost is now being passed to us.

    Watched the first couple of episodes. I'm not a huge Star Wars nut, so I'm not terribly concerned with all the background lore. But there was something in episode 2 that was just so stupid that I couldn't ignore.

    Thanks for the kind words all, though Arcadia did 90% of the work. I just did the painstaking last 10% to bring out the level of detail hiding in this lovely bird. I stared at that gif forever trying to remember which episode of CYE that was from and I finally remembered! It's when what's-his-face catches the baby from the burning building.

    This isn't a defense or criticism of the domestic pricing. I was just pondering to myself that the HMR VF-0 was developed and the pricing structure decided on probably quite some time ago, before the plummeting of the yen in recent months which is why it's so cheap right now to buy from Japan. If the yen maintained its level from late last year, the yen price would be closer to around $125 before shipping. With shipping it would probably be in the $150-$160 range if you chose a fast shipping and didn't slow boat it. I have no evidence for this, so I'm probably just talking out my ass. Just something I was wondering to myself about looking at the domestic pricing vs Japanese pricing.

    I'm so used to Bandai cutting corners that the step back that the 31AX represented didn't come as much of a surprise to me. Want a tiny HMR VF-0 that costs almost as much as the DX VF-1J from just a couple years ago? Bandai's got you covered!
