I'm really enjoying my completed HMR Skull squadron and destroids!
-
Maybe the second half will be better than the first half, but I wouldn't bet on it. Of course I'm someone who thinks the last time something truly great came from Star Wars was 1980.

Oh I'm sure it'll be readily available like all HMR toys after release date. They've almost always been shelf warmers to some degree.

Yeah I always thought there would be a bunch of joints on the early version design so I was surprised that it had no moving parts. I always thought it did looking at pictures. -
Looks great except for those horrible seam gaps. Hope it's fixed on the final version.

You just have to remove the 4 screws on the rear underside and the screw inside the landing gear bay. You'll have to rotate and twist the fuselage around in order to get an angle where you can reach and turn the screws with a small screwdriver. Once those 5 screws are out, the entire thing comes apart.

Heck yeah! Now that I have one in hand, I like the early version more than the EW version. -
Nice! Having taken her apart, I can confirm that the chest lock tabs are present. Now it's possible that it's not functional for that one reviewer due to poor fit or molding, which this unit has in spades.

Still a work in progress, but here's something we'll never get from Bandai in DX form. Or if we do, it'll be Hikaru's Skull-110. Shortly after those pics were taken Hikaru's 1A was destroyed by an unknown alien. -
Agreed. SNW has had the strongest start of any Trek series. 5 for 5 so far! I was hoping they would include Dr Zoidberg's national anthem in the episode and they did not disappoint!

You're right. Brain fart on my part. I was thinking of the reissued 29 for some reason. Only an obsessed weirdo would do such a thing to straighten the head lasers. Like me. Speaking of obsessed weirdos... This one's minor, but there's some excess plastic left over from the molding process on the instrument panel on my copy. It'll have to be trimmed away and painted over. More work needed on a $200 toy.

This one isn't a problem with the WWM 25. It's just an example of Bandai's obsession with glopping glue everywhere, even in places that don't need at and never did. Encountered this while taking apart the forward fuselage. Had to break it open with a screwdriver after removing all the requisite screws.
-
Head lasers are now a soft bendy plastic instead of the rigid plastic from Alto's 25F. Your curvature may vary.

That's disappointing to hear. We're paying a lot more and getting crappier products now. Good eye! Yes the diecast ankle parts are painted black now. The landing gear are still plain diecast. Hey Bandai if you're painting the diecast parts now, why didn't you paint the landing gear?? The VF-25 is one of my favorite valk designs and seeing Bandai introduce a bunch of new problems that the original release didn't have is a huge disappointment, especially given how much this thing costs. More problems. Gunpod is warped. PPB knife handle is too big to fit into the shield now.
-
Apparently, Bandai traded tab technology for that plastic tray. The gunpod kept popping off way too easily in fighter mode. I checked the tabs on the forearms that the gunpod handle is supposed to connect to. Any 31AX owners will be familiar with this: the tabs are too big to fit into the gunpod handle slots. I managed to get it onto one arm with a lot of force, but couldn't get it to fit on the other arm's tab. Never had this problem with my many other VF-25s. WTF Bandai?
-
Besides Bandai managing to screw up the nose, the rest of the valk looks good. Really like having a VF-25 with a matte finish. Maybe Bandai will reissue the Frontier valks retooled with matte finishes? Hopefully without screwing up the nose or any other parts that weren't broken before. Quick pics. Sorry my table is currently covered in valk parts, so floor pics with a phone for now.

We get an all plastic tray instead of the usual cheapass styrofoam tray? Looking good so far! Bandai is catching up to the futuristic year 2000! Aaaand... the honeymoon's over. Hey @Mommar remember how you complained that the reviewers kept "mistransforming" the nose and leaving an unsightly gap? It seems it wasn't their fault. It's because Bandai's craptastic QC strikes again! The nose simply does not fit properly and leaves that ugly gap. Good f***ing job Bandai. You messed up a slightly tweaked reissue of a 10+ year old toy.

The problem with BOBF wasn't that it took place on entirely on Tattooine. The problem was that the writing and characters were all hot garbage. The best part of the show was the accidental editing in of a completely different show.

Too many plot contrivances and stupid decisions by characters make what could be a good show into a frustrating watch.

Having to remove parts for functionality sucks.

Yeah I'm thinking of following @Mog's lead and painting mine. But that's a lot of work.
