VF-4 does look pretty plain, out of the box. At the very least adding panel lines really makes it stand out more.

Finally got around to putting the armor parts on. Really makes the 171EX look like a mean machine. Anyone going to make some MDE warheads?

Nothing wrong with liking one VF design more or less than another. I'm very happy we've gotten so many great VF toys over the past decade. I'm especially glad to have finally filled in the generation gap between the VF-1 and VF-11. My favorite things about the VF-4 are that it looks totally different from any other VF toy we've seen, and there are no obvious indications that it transforms (head sticking out, arms seen tucked under the fuselage, etc). When I have the time, I plan on at least repainting the nose and stabilizers to their proper FB2012 colors.

Those FB2012 customs look amazing! You guys make me want to customize mine, but I'm a little hesitant to risk damaging, with my beginner modeling skills, something that cost more than the 1/3000 SDF-1.

F NY and their price gouging. Just be patient and wait till release. For the last couple of releases, Amiami, HS, HLJ, etc, all had extra units after the release date, and I was able to snag one then without paying inflated prices. Heck, I still see 171EXs and 25Gs pop up now and then for around retail price.

Oh man I wish it was all web exclusives. Then all of us could, you know, actually buy these products.

The VF-27 was designed and released long before movie 2 came along, so I'm thinking it wasn't designed with fast packs in mind like the renewals. I just hope it isn't some patchwork POS like the original super and armor sets for the VF-25.

My Figuarts Zero Black Rabbit Sheryl arrived. It looks much better than the old 1kuji black rabbit from a couple years ago, despite the smaller scale. My only gripe? Bandai didn't release a white rabbit to go with it.
-
Gonna be ****ing disappointed in Bandai if, after all the renewals, they get lazy and just reissue the crappy old 27. I might pick one up if that's the only 27 that we're gonna get for years, until some point in the future when Yamato finally gets the Frontier license. It's saying in fighter mode for sure.

Sheryl finally arrived. Definitely my new favorite Sheryl figure. Once Ranka arrives, that'll probably be it for Frontier figures for me, and anime figures in general (I've sold almost all my non-Macross figures over the past year). It was fun while it lasted.

If I can just find some properly sized skull & crossbones decals for the upper stabilizers, I'll be a happy man.

That is awesome! Ozma is the only renewal I couldn't get more than one of.
-
That's still a great price, considering the markups/lack of stock elsewhere. Now you can be one of the few people who can say they got a renewal 25G from Amiami!

Oh man that really blows dude. That's Bandai QC for you, huh. Luckily no problems on mine aside from the usual minor things on every DX release. Though the canopy scuffing was on the inside. Not sure how they managed to scuff up the inside of the canopy like that, but that's Bandai for you. One quick phone pic before I disassemble this baby... Can't wait till super parts and hopefully a Gallia IV set are released. Looks a little naked to me without super parts.

25S uses that light grey shade of plastic in a number of places: head, hands, underside, landing gear doors. That's all I can see, with the armor packs on. On another note, does anyone know if polishing compound will have any adverse effect on the canopy tint? Mine has some minor scuffing from the factory that I'd like to buff out. Also, Klan doesn't fit very well in the pilot's seat.

In answer to earlier inquiries, unlike the 25S, the wing gloves and shoulders are molded in their proper color.
-
I picked up C and D (no wings). I don't like the fluorescent paint scheme of A and B, and the wings look kinda corny when viewed from any angle but the front. Not worth the more than 2x markup to me.

They're usually in the 1/7-1/8 scale range. They're not exactly 1/8 because they 1kuji Sheryl and Ranka figures are taller then the 1/8 scale figures made by Megahouse. Or maybe Megahouse's scales are off. Who knows? These aren't real people.

HLJ shipment arrived early! And I placed my order late Sunday/early Monday morning. I don't think I've ever gotten such a quick turnaround time from HLJ. I might have to reevaluate my assessment of HLJ.

So we're not allowed to be critical of the final product? Is "Everything is perfect and if you don't like it then cancel your preorder!" the only acceptable sentiment now? When did this board become so full of corporate shills? I always thought it was the other way around, judging by how insanely critical many forum members are. I'm pretty damn sure I'm not the first person on these boards to complain about product shortcomings. I'm also sure I'm nowhere near the harshest critic. All I've done is point out that, for some reason, Bandai has cut corners on details they included on previous releases. I'm not imagining some obscure detail from the lineart or something. These are the standards that Bandai themselves set. I was content to simply express my annoyance that Bandai cut corners then just fix it myself (though I really shouldn't have to fix anything on a $200 toy), but apparently that's not an acceptable position. Well I'll be damned. You're right. Well, I stand corrected on that point. However, my earlier criticism about the striped section on the underside still stands.

Despite your pathetic attempt at being humorous, the things I've pointed out are details they've always painted on previous releases. It's now on the 25G that they've decided to cut corners and leave them off. Or do you not care if Bandai leaves out details that they themselves took the time to retain on previous units? Why bother doing all those video reviews if you don't give a crap if the final product is up to par with previous releases?
