  1. The first time I transformed it back into fighter, I had the chest panels pop out. I found out that I could avoid it by leaving the chest panels all the way out as I push the chest downwards until it's almost all the way down before pushing the chest panels in. I haven't transformed it again since finishing my wash on it, so I'll have to review it again. I think I could also push the chest panels in only slightly, leaving them at an angle, so that when I did push the chest downward, it pushed the panels back up into its fighter mode position.
  2. Does the VF-1D with option parts come with Hikaru and Minmay or does it only come with a generic pilot figure?
  3. Lolicon

    DX VF-25G

    $233? F that.
  4. It's nice to be able to sit out of this preorder madness. But for all the people who wanted one but got the shaft from Bandai, this one's for you: F U BANDAI!!!
  5. A good VF-1S scheme doesn't need to be all white with a few stripes. See Ozma's VF-25S.
  6. The colors aren't bad, it's the rather haphazard arrangement and insistence on following Alto's YF-29 pattern (with tiger stripes) that is making look just weird to me. It really does look like someone at Bandai just went nuts with the pallette swapping. A real "VF-1S" color scheme should be more along the lines of the VF-0S or that pimp custom YF-19 someone did awhile back. Sometimes less is more.
  7. Yup, just like how rare and highly sought after the entire V1 DX line is.
  8. That just looks bizarre. I would rather have had an all grey low-viz version than this... zebra??
  9. After inserting the wing pin, they can be turned while in the slot. This prevents them from falling out without pulling hard on them. I put nail polish on my wing pins and on the slot in the wings. Doesn't make the wings any better, but it does tighten them enough so that the wings don't slide backwards during, uh, combat maneuvers.
  10. I think paint scratching is just a fact of life with this particular toy, what with all the markings. My worst part is the bottom back of the head. That area gets scratched up pretty good; I've had to touch it up with a black Gundam marker after every transformation. Other noticeable areas I had to touch up were the wings being scraped by the backpack and the tips of the feet.
  11. われらロリコンだ!
  12. Okay, I will admit that if they ever release Mylene's valkyrie w/boobs, I'll be all over that preorder like stink on cheese.
  13. I see I'm not the only one who noticed the warping. Instead of one long continuous curve like the 25, the warping (at least on mine) seems to be most pronounced towards the tips of the wings. It's really noticeable in a front profile view, like some Zentradi tried to pull the wingtips upward.
  14. Well, any comparison is going to be "unfair" in one manner or another when comparing different VFs from different shows made years apart. Engineering challenges aren't relevant to my preference since I don't own a 17. Actually, they're never relevant to me because I don't care what engineering challenges Yamato or Bandai or whoever has to overcome to produce a valkyrie toy. As the consumer, the only question I care about is: Is it a good toy? Same with video games, movies, etc. But I'm going way off there. Some people love the chunky 17, and that's cool. I never really liked any of the M7 designs so I think it's amazing Kawamori took the old 17 and redesigned it into something that I really dig and prefer over most other valkyries now.
  15. Do you have an issue with people preferring the 171 and comparing it to the 17? You know there are peeps who prefer the 17 over the 171 in their comparisons. I don't see anyone bitching about that.
  16. I'm with you on that! Never cared much for the fat VF-17, but the 171 is quickly becoming one of my favorite VFs. VF-17 is the fat chick in high school no one paid any attention to. VF-171 is the same chick years later after losing all the weight and is hot and won't give you the time of day because you were a dick to her in high school. Really hoping Bandai decides to release the standard blue unit. Much more excited about that than the remaining 25s.
  17. Adding my late pics. As usual, I had to do a wash on it. Wish I had the nice lighting setups and better cameras you guys have. There's not as much surface detail on the 171 but it's still pretty nice. Finally have all of Alto's rides.
  18. After only one transformation to battroid and back, with some fidgeting while I was doing a wash on it, one wing is already loose and flopping around. This pin design sucks.
  19. Oh I know who my carriers are. The guy who does express deliveries during the week is not the same as the lady who does my regular mail and always gets my SAL stuff to me. Express deliveries on the weekend are done by a different older gentleman who always knocks. The dude who handles express during the week is the lazy jackass. And yes I got *two* package slips in my mailbox today, both timestamped for 10:35 am, while I was home.
  20. USPS does that crap all the time. No wonder they're broke and can't compete with UPS et al. Why, just this morning I was sitting around expecting my 171 from Hobby Search to arrive. I saw a mail truck sitting around in front of my house for awhile around 10:30am, but then he drove off. Had to leave for work so no idea if USPS is gonna screw me again and make me pick up my stuff from the post office on a Saturday morning, but that's probably what's going to happen. I'm definitely filing a complaint if I find a goddamn "We Missed You!" slip when I get home.
  21. If anyone still has any leftover HUD decals made for the 1/72 VF-25 kits, know that they actually fit the 171 HUD pretty well. Not to mention it hides that eyesore of a gash in the middle of the screen.
  22. Maybe that's why I'm digging the 171 battroid so much. Or maybe it's just nice to have another valkyrie that's shaped totally differently from the VF-1 and 25. Makes me kind of want to get a 17 now... but it's so much fatter and blockier...
  23. Got around to transforming mine to battroid. Transformation is definitely way more involved than the 25. Elbows and shoulders are a bit loose on mine, but the legs were super tight! Felt like I was going to snap the metal hip bars trying to move the legs. As usual with Bandai toys, I had to touch up a bunch of small paint chips/scratches. I really like the battroid mode on this thing, though. Glad I got more than one so I can keep one in battroid.
  24. Just opened mine up. Initial impressions: -Seems smaller and lighter than the VF-25. -Not covered in a layer of grease like the YF-29. -Missing wing pin upon taking it out of the box. Luckily it had just fallen out, rather than being forgotten at the factory. Still, parts falling off while boxed? -Wings feel kinda loose/flimsy. -That is one cramped cockpit! Alto sits so close to the cockpit display that he looks like a schoolboy held back a few grades. -Cockpit display is also where the sprue connection point was, as evidenced by the gash/stress mark where it was cut. Gonna have to cover that with a display decal. -Love the orange tinted canopy. -Soft PVC head turrets are actually straight, so I won't need to swap them. -Gunpod does not collapse. Will transform and do a wash on it later and hopefully won't find any missing pieces. Now just gonna whoosh it around for a bit.
  25. I chose ship immediately when I got the email last week. Still waiting...
