With Yamato's closure, I guess we'll never see the day when we get a perfect transformation VF-11 MAXL.

Thanks! I wouldn't have done so well if not for all the tips from you, wm cheng, and a few others. Incredibly helpful! Thanks! I used the Tamiya weathering kits, which I've had in my drawer for ages but never got around to trying till a few days ago. They come in a variety of colors, but set B is good for starters. Each kit should last through many valkyries. http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?SeriesID=2016 -

Decided to spruce the old VF-1S with some decals and weathering. Fighter pics will have to wait till I fix one of the nose decals that got shredded while posing in battroid mode. -
I hope those are just bad photos and the final product isn't that green.

Can anyone tell if these are V1 or V2 armor parts for VF-1? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamato-1-60-Macross-ARMOR-PARTS-for-VF-1-VALKYRIE-Robotech-perfect-trance-/121101114693?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item1c32305d45

MacrossJunkie, that 19F is beautiful. You make even the Yamato stickers look good. But don't you have issues with the weathering rubbing off without any kind of clear coating? -
They were pretty easy to get when they came out. I don't think anyone was in any rush to buy any Bandai Macross products at the time, though, especially coming on the heels of the awful V1 VF-25 line.

TV and movie Kakizakis sold out at HLJ. We've reached the end of the road, kids.
-
Ranka is one of the only characters I actually liked. Sheryl is just another boring tsundere character. She at least gets some development, but not until more than halfway through the series. Lucas is just a tool. He should've been a Kakizaki-style death.

I could use another movie Roy so I can display one with and one without strike packs. I'm not paying the $200+ they're going for on ebay.

I thought DYRL was a pretty boring movie, but that didn't stop me from getting my grubby paws on an SDF-1. And I like the movie valk colors more than the TV series.

I have a few Yamato toys from various Hong Kong shops, and I've not seen any differences between them and the ones I've bought from Japanese shops. All my Bandai units were purchases from Japanese retailers, so I can't comment on those.

I wanted the special edition for the pistol, but my Shepard has red hair, so I got the regular edition... You can change the base between paragon and renegade symbols, which is a nice addition. My renegade Shepard looks like me.

It really shouldn't bother anyone. If they wanted the valks bad enough and are willing and able to pay the mark-ups going around, then they should be happy with their purchases. If it bothers them, then they really should have bought them earlier when they were at (or below) retail price, before Yamato went under. Not everyone could afford these toys when they first came out, and that's understandable. I'm just saying if you can afford today's panic prices, you could've afforded them before. (This is not to say that it was the fanbase's responsibility to keep Yamato afloat. Maintaining a viable business was Yamato's job, not ours, and any insinuation otherwise is just plain stupid.) I've personally picked up a few valks since Yamato went bankrupt, but only if the price was reasonable. I refuse to pay some of the crazy mark-ups on ebay. I'll just wait and see if Arcadia releases new ones, or I'll just go without.

Around $300 for the VF-4G. After that, about $225 for the 1/3000 SDF-1. Non-Macross: About $220 for the 1/144 scale GP03 Dendrobium mobile armor. I'm also kind of a cheap bastard and ~$200 is my upper limit for any toy. Made an exception for the VF-4G because it seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Sure. And the Bandai employee who reads it will know where to put that letter, because he (or she) will also be literate in Japanese.

Oh my god! MDEs! Might have to get a two sets...

18,000 yen. If I find another at a good price, I'll PM you about it.

A lucky find off Mandarake. They have one every once in a blue moon. It was listed as an opened item but when I received it, everything was still sealed. Even the toy itself was covered in mold release agent. It was a new, unopened unit. I used to consider the YF-29 as the turning point where Bandai's Macross toys finally stopped sucking. I was wrong. The VB-6 rocks!

Paint scraping on that nose piece is simply a fact of life when dealing with Bandai's renewals. I often lose a tiny bit of paint when transforming from battroid back to fighter. Luckily, the scraped spot is tiny, and can be touched up easily enough with a Gundam marker. For the 25F, I use the grey panel lining Gundam marker. Of course I use black for the 25S and 25G.

Wow! Didn't expect a preorder to open up in the middle of the night (in Japan)!

I guess their refusal to adjust USD pricing with currency fluctuations is a recent change? I asked if I was going to get the lower price on the YF-29 30th anniversary super parts and got this reply: "Hello and thank you for your email! Unfortunately the price for pre order remain the same even if the currency rate changes. So you will be charged the price on your pre order." I suspect the change has to do with the recent weakening of the yen. It went from about 80 yen to $1 at the start of the year to it's current rate of 99 yen to $1. For NY that's a lot of extra yen if they make people keep the same dollar price for preorders made prior to the drop. I'm not going to pursue the matter further since it's only a few bucks for me, but for people with large orders, that's a hefty chunk of change. YF-29 super parts are sold out anyway, so I can't just make a new order.
