  1. Been on the fence on this one for awhile now. As much as I love Xenogears and the mecha designs from it, the price is pretty steep for what is essentially an 8 inch non-transforming action figure with no accessories whatsoever. Is the build quality top notch, with diecast used where needed for strength and stability? If we go by the previous Play Arts/Bring Arts/Whatever Arts version of Weltall, then no. That thing looked nice, but felt really cheap and flimsy once I had it in hand. This impression was only cemented when one of the "backpack" parts snapped clean off while I was adjusting it. That was some crappy, weak, & brittle plastic they were using. It did have diecast feet for stability IIRC, so that was one point in its favor. I'll wait till after release and see what other people think of it. If it's actually good and still available after release, then I might get one. Otherwise, I'd rather not get burned by SE's questionable level of quality again.
  2. Speaking of missiles that cost as much as the valk... https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1277685811&keyword=マクロス&lang=en
  3. I wish Bandai would rebuild the Frontier line from scratch and tampo the hell out of it like they're doing with the 1/48 line. I know they tend to go a little overboard but I think it would be worth the price hike over buying a 10+ year old toy with a matte finish and practically non-existent improvements.
  4. Finally opened my copy now that I'm setting up my Delta shelf. In person the colors aren't bad at all. But the parts fit seems even worse than Hayate and Mirage's. The gunpod won't even stow properly in fighter mode; it just falls right off no matter what I do. Some of the panels under the wing won't stay flush at all. And the wing tabs, instead of being too big to fit into the leg slots, are now too loose and don't really plug in securely. You suck, Bandai.
  5. Man, with the weak yen this reissue will be a good deal cheaper than the original release, barring any crazy retailer mark-ups. I might actually pick one up for the hell of it.
  6. The modex is printed backwards on my 1J.
  7. I do know of a way to fix the sagging wings on the tornado packs.
  8. Delta is the worst Macross series because it was both incredibly boring and had no idea what it wanted to be. Was it supposed to be a mecha series that happened have idols in it? Or an idol series that happened to have mecha in it? I don't think even Kawamori knows (or cares because he already got a dump truck full of money from Bandai). Anyway, hope they fix the issues the "renewal" 27 had, like the improperly painted stripes around the hip armor. Though they botched the chest stripes on the revival 25 so I'm not counting on it.
  9. Hope they fixed the sagging when the wing attachments are on. Anyone who has the renewal tornado packs knows.
  10. Still the best Delta valk.
  11. The little rubbery feet on the stands have indeed yellowed over time. One entire row is more than enough to house all the Delta releases. The new cases will allow me to split SDF and DYRL and allow me to display the rest of Frontier and 7. Then there's the HMRs and 1/48 DX to add to that... I could rearrange everything into in-universe chronological order... but Delta would still end up on the bottom shelf.
  12. After much delay, I started putting together the Delta shelf, which is the bottom shelf of my moducases. The bottom shelf is where Delta belongs. Ignore the YF-19 battroid and Mirage's aunt as they'll be moved soon. Have another set of 8 moducases coming in the near future to house the many other valks I still have yet to display, so I need to finish this setup soon. Hope Gokinplus restocks soon because I'm running out of stands.
  13. Looks good! Though I think you need to give it the same treatment you give your little D.
  14. Ah, thought you were talking about the booster nozzles. Looks like it would be pretty easy to just mask that part if you really want to maintain its original finish.
  15. Well part of its sheen is in the glossiness of the plastic, so you'll definitely lose some of it if you topcoat it. If you're really concerned about retaining its current look, you can always just pop the boosters off and not coat them. I topcoated my Revival 25F so you can see how it looks here. I used a semi-gloss finish instead of going full matte though.
  16. Hehe thanks. He's a goddamn troublemaker who gets into everything, like all Siamese. I'm glad I have enclosed moducases to protect my valks now.
  17. Wow! Whoever did that must be incredibly handsome and have a higher than average sperm count.
  18. Damn you got a good eye. And that's Hayate's original 31, so no tramp stamp.
  19. 1/1 scale Siamese kitten and three 1/60 scale valks. Can you identify the valks in the pic?

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Bandai also needs to learn to put plastic wrap around the wings like Yamato always did. I have to touch up the painted navigational lights right out of the box.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

I was sufficiently annoyed by all three of my YF-19s from the full set packs having loose AF stabilizers that fall off at the slightest touch that I went and bought the reissue. Pretty lame considering that the full set pack wasn't even the first release of this toy. It's a repainted VF-19 Advance with a few minor tweaks and they still botched it up. But at least I finally have a good copy of the second best YF-19 toy out there.
  22. Absolutely. If I accidentally dropped a penny down a sewer grate, that would be a bigger financial loss to me than this is to them. Yeah they're getting their Bluefin sticker back.
  23. So I originally bought two YF-21s from Japan. One arrived intact, the other with a broken head laser. Since Bandai considers it a "quality variance" and refuses to provide any support to replace this one piece (it would be pretty easy to just mail some replacement head lasers out), I went and bought one off Amazon US. The first unit I got from Amazon had a broken head laser too. I immediately exchanged it for a replacement. The replacement unit had an intact laser. So I am sending the broken unit I originally got from Japan in its place and getting a full refund. This is the kind of crap I have to resort to for a simple fix on a pretty expensive toy because Bandai ultimately is a shitty & anti-consumer company. 2 out of 4 units arrived broken. A 50% failure rate is absolutely unacceptable in any product line. (Yes I know this is a tiny sample size but this is a widespread issue and I would not be surprised if the real failure rate is actually pretty close to 50%.)
