That's the curse of top heavy designs. They have more problems standing on their own. The Max and Miria Q-Raus also don't stand on their own very well.

A VE-1 probably isn't too far behind after the VT-1. Unless the VT-1 doesn't sell enough for Bandai's liking and it ends up getting scrapped like so many other teases.

Assuming it came like that new in box, someone at the factory put a hell of a lot of force to bend and break the plastic like that. The actual bar that holds the backpack to the rest of the valk is made of metal.

I was just referring to Bandai's tampo in general on their DX line.

Probably don't need to dwell too much on single screenshots from a show filled with animation inconsistencies and errors. Aside from that split second frame, neither 102 nor 607 was ever firmly established as the proper modex for the VT-1 Hikaru borrowed, so it really doesn't matter what modex number Bandai used. The tampo is just as obnoxious.

That shot of the YF-21 fighter makes me think of the TBD Devastator, probably the worst torpedo plane of WW2.

They are on the Yamato VT-1 and VE-1. But I never use them since the packs are held securely in place without them, just like the regular VF-1.

I was about to say that the other 2 look like 3D printed mock ups rather than actual transformable prototypes.

The 171 requires less anime magic yet it a worse toy than the Yamato 17. Funny how that works.

I don't have my old HM VF-19 at hand to compare. Did Bandai completely retool it for the HMR version?

Yamato made it work. I just took out my 171s to set them up in my cases and they were a PITA, even though I only needed to attach the armors. From the wonky leg design to the idiotic swapping wings, it's just not any fun to handle.
