  1. Thanks Guys! Thats my first custom. I didn't expect it to turn out so well. The Revvies are great for it though. You don't need to take a big $$$ risk to try an idea out. I think I am going to do a Milia next.

I do like the Hikaru "Strike Diablo" a lot though. I think I need to get a 48 and kit it out with dual strike canons and two gun pods. :)

  2. I saw that kit and from what I remember the owner is asking HK$4800 for it, which is more like US$600'ish! The thing is huge and shipping to the US will add at least another US$100 or so.

This is a huge kit and quite worth having as it is the largest toy VF-1 produced and very very rare but the price is only for people with very very deep pockets!

I’m not sure I would plunk down $600, but I sure would like to have one of these to hang from the ceiling I my office.

  3. Great stuff sqidd. You'll have to give us the straight dope on the Griffon once you've had a chance to look it over. I really hope you like Patlabor Movie 1.

The Griffon is awesome! By far it is the most Revvie for the dollar. It’s huge! Between the body and the wigs it takes up almost twice the space of a normal Revvie. The gloss black looks amazing, the hand sculpt is nothing short of sinister and the head is just plain scary. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with any accessories like a lot of the others do but that is quickly forgotten as soon as you start posing it.

  4. overall, my revy 1j is in pretty good shape. so far, the only real flaw is the hole on the back of the nosecone for the display peg to fit into is rather small, and the peg does not stay in at all.

the vf-1s is fine though...not a problem at all.

I’m happy with my VF-1S and VF-1J. I only opened one of each even though I got multiples. Strangely enough I like the J better than the S. For some reason the head sculpt looks better to me. And the S’s head can’t be positioned to look any higher than straight forward which limits the poses you can do and still be able to look down the barrel of the gun.

Over all very cool though. For $20 they are an absolute steal. All of my Revvies are on shelves in my office except the Valks which are right next to my monitor so I can pose them a few times a day.

  5. Something else........................LOL

    I used a Sakura Pigma Micron 02 0.30mm Black

Do you use a “Mark and wipe” technique with that pen/marker or is the pen/marker so fine that it doesn’t leave any excess on the panels?

I did a little panel lining last week with a mechanical pencil for the first time but it doesn’t have the quality of definition that yours has.

    Thanks

  6. The best thing to do is mask the area around the line and paint the line (This is done when you detail the model). Remove the masking tape and your line should be fine.

Can do on the thicker stuff, thanks

But what do I do for actual panel lines then??? :)

  7. I want a VF-1S, but I'm going to wait until that new movie version Patlabor is released. Then I'll choose a third (likely the Griffon) to make an order of three.

My Griffon is on the way and I got Patlabor 1 yesterday! I can't wait to watch it.

  8. Ok, so I took a bit of advice from everyone here and a big thanks to all. I spent some time last week collecting supplies so I could get started. I just washed all the parts in warm water and dish soap and they are now drying.

I know I am looking a few steps ahead here, but if I need to get an additional paint this would be a good time to ask. On the YF-19 there are some fairly wide “panel lines” toward the back of the fuselage. I will be using Testors Flat White spray enamel for the color of the fighter. What would be the best/easiest method/kind of paint to panel line this paint?

    Thanks again!

  9. THANKS ^_^^_^^_^ I mentioned, in the other post I have with the rest of the pics for this guy, that I really like the penciled panel lines but I think that the darkness of the bolder black panel lines gives it a more cartoony feel.

So what did you use to panel line the one in the pics? A pencil or something else? I'm confused

  10. Did the Max and Millia ever show up in SDFM or DYRL as VF-1S's or were they always just J's? I have a few Revoltech's that I want to paint up like a Max and Millia and I am not sure what I want to use as the "base" model????

  11. I know what part that is as well: the foot stand and my VF-1J came with it as well. HLJ has a picture of a Patlabor Revoltech figure that I can borrow to illustrate the use of the foot stand:

    griffon-withfootstand.jpg

Plug it into the horizontal stand and then plug the VF-1J foot into the vertical block. Instant action pose :)

Doooooooooood! Can you give me a link to that Revoltech? I can't find it and I need one of those bad boys, it looks incredible!

    thanks
