As you know Wicked Ace this is awersome, the scheme looks great. What more can I say but bring on the next custom.
-
Not only the Minmay Guard but they also are re-releasing the VE-1 which was discontinued a while ago, the SV-51 twin booster and the VF-0 with ghost have also been re-issued, I've been talking about this to the supplier over here and Hasegawa has told him that most if not all the models in the Macross line will be re-released.
-
Well if they are much the same as HCM-Pro's then that's fine with me and the HCM's pose fine IMO. Looking forward to thier release, more macross goodness without having to paying hundreds of dollars. These should be great for diorama displays, can't wait.

Looking awesome can't wait on some update pic's. The addition of the control room looks great.

That's cool miriya. Love how you used Rei, her suit blends her into the valk parts really well and having her poseable, very cool. Great custom.
-
That is spectacular, I really like this scheme, love the blue and white. Masterful work.

I understand what you are saying, I build models for a living and last year was taken up with nothing much more than 1/72 Hasegawa Macross models (about 54 of them). Hasegawa do produce the best Macross plastic models there is no doubt about that but what most don't tell you is what is involved to produce even what is close to what you see on the box. What no one has told you is that to build a Hasegawa macross model you will require average to above average modeling skills, the model itself is not hard to put together however you will need to fill and sand all seem lines rescribe any panel lines which have been removed, which takes a little time and is about as exciting as watching paint dry. You'll then need to paint the model and airbrushing is the ideal way to go but you could use spray cans but brush painting would not be adviseable unless your a brush painting master. You also have to contend with some fit issues (not many as Hasegawa is very good) but there are some that need to be corrected, aswell to get a really nice finish you will need to remove thier injector pin marks from flat surfaces and some kits have slight sink holes that need to be filled ( VF-0S kit suffers from sink holes). The Bandai model is still much the same you will need to do the same soughts of things to get a great looking model, you'll need to fill sand and so on to get a result you'll be happy with, but you have less detail to deal with as these models are old Imai and Arii kits that where aquired by bandai when those companies went out of business, Bandai just re-released the models under there own name. The Macross 7 kits that Bandai did where half assed at best and left a lot of people pissed that they didn't produce quality merchandise for that time and Gundam seemed to have all Bandai's attension. Doing the above 5 days a week 8 hours a day is a little boring (I still love what I do and feel very lucky to be able to do it) but if you have the skill or want to develop skills to build great models then build either the Bandai kit or give a hasegawa a go, but if you just want some quick simple kits that don't take long to put together then there is not much if anything out there in Macross. I get tired of building at the end of the day and have found that my own collection suffers do to the lack of will to do more sanding ect. Not so long ago one of my customers asked for me to build a Gundam kit for him, just a simple HGUC kit and well was I impressed, for such a simple kit it was amazing. After building his I ordered four HGUC models GPO1, GPO1FB, GPO2 and GPO3, and sat down when they arrived to build the GPO1, it was an awsome kit more like a model action figure but still had great details and awesome parts fit not one part had fit isssues. I painted the whole kit on the sprues then washed and panel lined on the sprue then assembled and added some waterslide decals from the Gundam decal range, it took all of about four hours from start to finish and it turned out looking better than my Bandai FIX GPO3 which was the finish I was after. So all in all if you want a quick simple kit you are not really going to find one in Macross and until Bandai release what they plan for Macross F then nothing is around to that quality in a simple model. Your only option is to develop your modeling skills, spend a good deal on equipment so you can do a good job from the start and start practicing apart from that you'll just have to go buy a Yammato collectable ( still have a problem calling them toys). Most model builders are doing it as a hobby and having fun and that's what it's all about, I have the prospective more of a production line where the slightest part fit issue is a pain as it adds time to the build, but it's nice to sit down and build something that is quick and easy. Please note the VF-1S Minmay Guard custom is still not quite finished. Hasegawa make truely awesome models if you want to put the time in, the gundams turn out great with about four hours of work.

Lookin nice, that is a nice blue...we all like the blue But yes paint faster can't wait to see this one even just in final paint...cool job.

I'm not really expecting mine till early march, hope they come out sooner.

Miriya I'd love to see a Skull One 1/48 box for the VF-1S Roy as to me the plain black box is a little dull. I also have an up comming project that need box designs done for it, it's a long way off but I really like what you are doing so I'll send you a PM a little later if thats OK. Top work, what's wrong with Yamato your boxes are way better they should higher you.

Has anyone noticed on the MH that the windshield do not sit down behind the riders head instead it sticks up vertical. If you look at the MH in soldier mode you will see the windshield and the piece that it mounts to sticking straight up, it should fold forward and sit flat behind the riders head with the windshield sloping at about 40 degree angle sloping down from the back of the riders head to cover the instument panel. The old 1/15 model kit shows this perfectly as this is what I'm looking at. I don't know why the MH doesn't have that part just flip forward rathes than just stick up. No deal breaker for me but just something that jumped out at me when looking at the pic's this morning.

After about an hour I found him, Scale Solutions is his site here is the link http://users.hunterlink.net.au/~ddwwp/index.htm

I think these are the ones done by a guy down here in Oz, I think he is in Sydney. He does a lot of star wars star destroyers in resin I remember seeing his items on another site for sale maybe starship modeler. I'll have a look and see if I can find his website. Still quite expensive for what it is IMO.

Looks like the takatoku 1/3000 storm attack and the picture on the box looks the same as the takatoku just the box layout looks different. Maybe there is a few different box types, not sure.

Thats some very nice weathering on that fast pack set genghis, love to see pic's of your valk sounds like you have put a lot of effort in. I'm sure when you get an airbrush you'll be a force to be reconed with . Post some pic's of the 1J when you get a chance.

That would be cool with me and the inbit in mospeada were fine as they had that mecha style and feel to them, but not just bugs. I can't coment on the new macross as I wont get to see it until we have some sought of DVD release and who knows how long that will be. So for now I'm hoping on some nice models and toys to tie me over and give me a new mecha fix and I don't really care who makes them just aslong as they are good.

I found that the MH looks to have compromised the bike for a better looking soldier mode as the bike looks to low, but it has a nicer finish over the CM's and I'm more likly to display these in soldier mode anyway, just have to wait and see.
-
Good old duct tape, where would the world be with out you.
-
Thanks Wicked Ace, that truly looks amazing.

No but everyone should have a sence of quality and CM is lacking that in the look of the final product. The fact that CM has PT on something so small is a great achievment but what good is it if it going to break or they are just so small that parts do have to be removed. I can see the point that the MH versions may be seen as cheap for not having PT and I can except that, but the finish of the MH from what we have seen to date makes the CM's look cheap. I guess what it all comes down to is what your going to do with these, for me I'll buy the MH versions put them in the poses I like and thats how they stay until I decide to change things around as do all my collectabes, they will never see "play" time.

I just want to see fighter pics to see how the scheme fit's the next generation fighter, like looking at an F-4 and an F-14 from the same squadrons. But I'm pretty much a Battroid guy myself and the fact that they transform into planes is just a bonus.
-
I'm happy with smaller scales, 1/48 scale valks are great but space becomes a problem, even with the 1/60's and I don't want to leave them in boxes in storage somewhere that's no fun. If the VF-25 is a good size 1/100 would be nice but I would still want a 1/60 Yamato in the future.
-
I can't get my head around why people think the CM look good at all, yes the sculpt is pretty good and the transformation is well thought out but the over all look of the finished product is just discusting for the price. If it was a transformer then you wouldn't pay any more than $20 for something that looks so cheap and nasty and so small. Compared to the MH pictures we have seen it looks really nice and looks like you are getting something for your $60 but these CM's look like they just fell out of a Kinda suprise. I just can't get my head around how these CM's can look good to people, every picture shows the same cheap looking items full of screws that look huge due to the scale. After seeing all these pictures of the CM's and reading on them being brittle and so on MH seems to be the top choice at this time though I'm sure there will be issues with them, but at least they look cool and look worth a little more than $20.

That look great Wicked Ace I really like this scheme on the VF-0. Nice to see you are making the most of your 19 fast pack purchase that little stand looks quite handy. Look forward to some fighter pic's.

Well the best idea is wait and see IMO. If Bandai are already producing proto's then they are showing an interest in toy production from the start which everyone should be jumping for joy over, but alass the MW bashing of a product begins. I think that the proto's look pretty good granted you can't see much detail but at least the work has begun. Sure it would be nice to have Yamato produce these new valks but I'm hoping that you guy's aren't just turning into Yamato supporters as what good would it do to just have one company to produce Macross toys, you might aswell just hand your wallets to Yamato and let them charge what they please and I'm sure a lot of you would pay it. Well I don't like just having one company with all the eggs in thier basket and I'm hoping the Bandai comes out with some really top products that are sure to retail for less than Yamato's. I myself have only just started collecting some gundam products, HCM pro's mainly and I have to say they are awesome figures and the special painted versions make my Yammies look a little bland. Sure the Yammies are great and I love them to death but right now I'm looking at my 1/48 VF-1S against my 1/200 Sazabi SP and it's over all finish kills the VF-1S and no stickers to apply and look crap. Sure Bandai has not got the greatest record when it comes to supporting Macross however as far as I know they have only produced a couple of macross toy's and the rest where moulds purchased from companies that went broke and folded due to I guess not a lot of interest in those companies products. If it was not for Bandai then those old models and toys would have been lost so maybe everybody should bash Arii for there crap designs as all bandia did was rerelease them so we had at least something macross to build or display. It could be worse we could be getting Monogram/Revell to do the models and lets get Mattel to do the toy's, if any of you have issues with QC you should look at them ( Bought my daughter a Barbi horse float van thing and it fell apart removing from the box, great QC). Gundam is Bandai's cash cow we all know that but what I can't understand is all the bashing of bandai for producing items that sell and keep there comany moving forward, but you can't expect them to just drop that to produce macross toy's and models. I can imagine the outrage if all the gundam fans pushed Yamato into scaling down thier Macross lines to produce gundams. I'll agree that it will all depend on how well Macross F will do but I'm sure from most people here that it will be successful, it will all depend as some of the past macross has been a little bit of a let down in a lot of ways like M7 and to some extent Macross Zero and I for one am not one for space bugs ( call them what you like bio weapons or what not), it just a little Macross Pest Control to me but that's me and I don't expect anyone to agree, but I am a fan of the new VF-25 and would like some nice models and toys and don't care who makes them just as long as they aren't crap. If Bandai makes a mess of this then we will have every right to run Bandai into the ground but lets see the finished product.
