The 1/700 valks I'm scratchbuilding, more sculpting. I scanned the hasegawa paint instructions and then scaled the pics to size, this gave me a top and side view to work from. I'll post pic's when I'm happy with the result, shouldn't be long I hope.

Here is my latest project my Roy F-14B. It's still a work in progress but it's not far from being finished. The only trouble I'm having is working out a name for his RIO for the back seat. Any suggestions would be great.

That looks awesome HWR MKII. I've seen this before and thought the same thing the fans just don't do the rest of the model justice. Always wondered what it would look like with a set of wheels and ....well here it is, look great. Can't wait to see it painted.

Great pic Mowe looks really cool. I never realised how much the side covers make a differece to the overall look.

I have always been told to use a good quality mask while airbrushing as atomised paint is deadly as it sticks to your lungs limiting the amount of air you can breath over time. Airbrushing is the best way to go if not just easier to get a good finish, but I have met some paints over the years that can brush so well you would think it's airbrushed. If you can master brush painting it can be so relaxing and fun, I have at times brush painted models just because I didn't feel like all the clean up with the airbrush.

That's looking so good!! As I stated I'm also working on this scale with the Pometheus so I'll be casting valks in 1/700. I'm on the sculpting now so we'll see how they turn out and I'll post some pic's. But great work it looks awesome!!

I agree totaly they are two expensive for the term "toys". After working in hobby shops for so long I realised that these are collectable figers. If these are toys then all those diecast collectors are paying $200.00 for a toy car which is not the case. They are paying this money for a diecast replica which sits in a case and will never be wheeled around the floor. IMO most of these Yamato "toys" are going to people who place them on display and not flying them around the house/backyard transforming on the fly. By playing I don't include sitting enjoying the transformation but haveing a game with them like you see two ten year olds battling thier transformers. Well thats my two cents and remember it's all just IMO.

Great Work!!! Looks nice, I would have liked to see a little pre shading and panel lines but it looks really good. Now I can see where the VF-0D design came from as the Dragon looks like a F-22 crossed with a VF-0D. The front view gave me this impression the most with those little fins on the bottom of the intake and the delta wing. Really nice work!!! I'd also like to see a better resin sculpt by one of the MW casters, beats doing it myself hehehe.

I would love a VF-0 in a wkite, grey and black snow cammo like the A-10 in the pic. Maybe a digital pattern but the VF-0 would look great in this scheme. Maybe a couple of VF-0 went to Alaska base before deployment of the VF-1. Also the UN Spacy logo's would stand out great on these colours IMHO.

Yes PLEASE a "skull squadron" yf-19 and VF-11 that would be very nice. Or a white, grey and black snow cammo like in this pic of a A-10. Always been a fan of winter cammo schemes think they can look very striking on the right aircraft. A 1/48 Minmay Guard moon concert VF-1S Strike would be cool too or a Paris if you can't stand pink.

Wow what a release Yamato has really excelled this time. The launch pose is just awesome and to include all the extras just brilliant. Love all the pic's, I wasn't planning on getting any SV-51's but that idea is out the window.hahaha More pic's,bravo!!!!

I find that acrylics are great paints but hopeless for brush painting. If you are going to brush paint with acrylics then go with the other guys and use Games Workshop paints as they are designed for brush use. After that I find Gunze Sangyo to be the best to get a cover with a brush. Tamiya acrylic seems to turn to a gritty mess when you brush paint leaving you to heap the paint on and try and spread it around it's awful but good to airbrush. IMO Games Workshop paints seem to be the best for brush painting and it has the only white that covers in a couple of thin coats. Just don't thin it with acrylic thinner as it turns into a clumpy mess like jelly, just use water to thin as advised.

I just think that stickers gives that little bit of tackyness to otherwise great product aimed at collectors. I just can't see many people buying a SV-51 for thier five year old to fly around the back yard. And if there is someone out there that buys there five year old one can they buy me a few I'll fly around with him.

I am currently working on a Macross F-14. Not shin's F-14 but a VF-103 "Jolly Roger" with Roy as pilot just before changing to the VF-0 project. I am using the Hasegawa F-14B kit as it is IMO Hasegawa make the best F-14 kit ( I just don't like the Fujimi kit ). I would however agree that the Macross Zero F-14 is a B model, but I can see no reason why all models of the tomcat would have been used depending on how bad the war became and how pushed for resorces the UN became. The Hasegawa Macross Zero box art pic's show whats looks like an F-14A but the F-14 in the show clearly had the updated engines which makes me agree with the F-14B model.

Nice work I'll be inteested to see how it turns out. It the cardboard doen't end up working try balsa wood it works well to build bulky items then plate it with styrene. This is how my 1/700 Prometheus is being built makes the project a lot cheaper.
-
IMHO I think all the markings should be tampoed on at the prices we pay, I really dislike stickers. The gold would have to be tampoed on ( one hopes ) the nora just imagine placing all those stickers, it's hard enough doing it on the Hasegawa kit with decal solution.

I use Loctite Quicktite ca, seems to work well.

I'd like to see a VF-0S so I can recreate the pose on the wave model kit box! Must say I like what I've seen so far.

Haha, yeah so did I thought that I would use them on my super and elintseeker, noticed that they won't fit the ostrich though.

I find by lining up the top of the boosters body first, glue ( I use solvent ) then you find you can line the rest up quite well. The worst part is the raised panels on the top as they are fine and disappear when sanding, the metal etched parts I think have parts for this but I just rebuild them out of thin plastic card. The metal etched set has come back into stock at HLJ. Hope it helps.
-
I have a 1/48 VF-1 here that I'm waiting to build for a guy in the states, so I'm also getting ready to start construction. The parts are amazing as this is not a recast but he paid a pretty penny off ebay for it.

That Gamma Nora is well done. The preshading takes away some of the weird factor in terms of colour scheme.
