Simply beautiful Got an extra Stick, I plan to do the same. Your mod will be a great inspiration!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!! -
[rant mode/on] I don't want to be a party pooper but the SDF-1 is not going to be a $500 mass produced toy. Think about the $350 1/72 Moscato Glaug or EXO's $600 1/48 Thunder Hummer. Both offerings are well worth the asking price. Both made thanks to the love for this franchise and are true gifts for us fans. Neither EXO nor the Captain became rich with these offerings. The metal molds to mass produce the SDF-1 (it was said it has 400 parts) mean a cost way above 50/75k. If we demand a $500 retail price 1/2000 SDF-1, Yamato could charge $250 wholesale. Would Yamato be able to sell 1.000 units to japanese retailers/vendors? Sorry, but I don't think so. And if they could they're only getting $250.000. An A4 add in the mayor hobby magazines from Japan to promote this is in the 2k/5k range. If the toys are produced in China, think about the distribution costs. We're not taking a lot of factors into account. R&D, employees salary, taxes and so on. A lot of people have the wrong perception that Yamato receives $89.99 for a 1/60 v2 VF-1. That's what vendors charge and they barely make a profit. Hell, Beagle couldn't even sell 3.000 Stick ride armors and the retail price was $199. This SDF-1 is much more cost effective for Yamato if it's sold directly to the customer through the website and eliminating the chinese factories and all middle retailers. It's like a garage kit, designed by a small team and made entirely in the company. It's depressing cause this experience shows us we can forget about a 1/60 Destroid Monster That's my 0,02 cents for what it's worth. [rant mode/off]

Despite the awful photoshop done to the promotion pics, this VF-1S will be mine!!! Wonder how the final product will actually look like. What color will the canopy frame be (white, black, grey)? Will it have any black markings?

Maybe Yamato hasn't made the steel molds needed for a big production run (which would cost them a whole lot of money!!). This could explain such few units planned. They will have less production costs and the direct sales to customers will mean a higher profit margin. Maybe the SDF-1 is completely produced at Yamato's headquarters (sort of handcrafted versus mass produced in a China factory) My wife and I own a clothing company with 9 stores (we also design and produce all the clothes). Five stores belong to us and the other four were sold as franchises. Short example: our products have 100% mark up, a $100 retail price jacket costs $50 wholesale (production cost between 12%-15%= $12/$15). What I'm trying to say is that we get a lot more money on our direct sales to the customers than when we are selling wholesale. I don't know Yamato's costs but 100 units at $2000 means $200.000 to them (again, I'm not counting thier cost). If Gamlin's VF-22 was really limited to 1.000 units and it still has not sold out could they really sell 1.000 SDF1's at a lower wholesale price and make profit??? It's the endles discussion: niche market - niche product => very few units produced that cost $$$$!!! I have the money, but I won't spend the $3.000/$3.500 it will cost me to get it and import it to Argentina.

Don't want to be an A$$ but it's actually a little bit more than U$S2.000 JPY210,000.00 JPY = USD2,306.87 1 JPY = 0.0109851 USD 1 USD = 91.0326 JPY I want to be as optimstic as possible, but I don't see a toy version in the future for $500

Another exclusive U$S2.000, add the service fee on top of that to get this ultra exclusive => pass. I won't even get mad. It's really funny, I won't think about shipping and custom taxes (%50 in my country)

VF-1S ATMOSPHERIC BOOSTER + LAUNCH PYLON
Ignacio Ocamica replied to shinagami's topic in The Workshop!
Beautiful work!!!! The shading and weathering looks great. -
Gotta agree with you, the SV-51 is underrated!!! It's a great design and the toy version is awesome. Altough the YF-21 is my favorite, the SV-51 is up there in my top five list.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.6
Ignacio Ocamica replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Great pics as usual!!! I'm still on the fence about getting any of the 1/60 DX's, the fit and finish and overall look remind me of the 1/72 Mac Plus Yamato's What to do?? -

Thanks for the scans!! It's looking good, might give it a try -
I'm very satisfied with my Q-Rau's. The sculpt looks 100% lineart accurate, I don't thinks there is much to do in that department. I disagree that this toy is a total floppy mess. The problem only lies where the upper legs connect to the body. I DO accept the criticism that it makes the toy impossible to pose since it tends to fall backwards. But this problem is resolved with a quick fix. EASY SOLUTION: the legs are connected to the body through a grey bar with two ball joints. First we have to unscrew that bar from the body. After that, both thighs need to be disassembled, in order to reach the balljoints and use nail polish on them. After the nail polish dried the upper legs can be reassembled and the floppy syndrome is completely gone!!! I know that we are not supposed to fix a $90 dollar toy, but in ten minutes with a srewdriver and two drops of nail polish you get a completely posable toy (as posable as the design of this mech allows )
