That's the wrong GBP 1J. It should be 'white' goggles. Hahaha! Great 'J collection, spanner.

Scramble Eggs -1984 Variable Jets by Bandai-
no3Ljm replied to Ozaline's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I used to have one of these back in '86. The green one on the top right. I believe that was F-4 Phantom. Correct me if I'm wrong. And that was only the available one back then from our local shop back in the Philippines. I'm already into Macross that time so I was hoping to get the F-15 since there was no F-14 available. So my mom bought the green one instead. Anyways, it was superb to have this before. Simple transformation. Didn't know that it was made by Bandai. If I'll get a chance to go home in the Philippines, I'll probably look for it and bring it back with me along with my other toy collections as well. Well, only the ones that's not crumbling by then. Hehehe. -
That's what I fear, actually. But if I just gonna buy one. And I only MEAN one... I'll probably go with VF-1S Minmay Guard to make it special.
-
Would love to get a 1/48 VF-1S Stike in the future as a center masterpiece for my Macross collection since it's Hikki's Valk. But what I fear is once I started buying this, for sure I will also want his VF-1J as well. Then the list will go on and on...

I wonder why Hasbro didn't get Tulcas, the tank, from Dorvack. They already got Calibur as Roadbuster. Gazzette, the copter, as Whirl. If they do, then the whole Dorvack mechas are complete via TF toys. -
I like what he said on the last part... "Overall then this is definitely the nicest Orguss toy we have ever had and likely will have for a very long time. Mega House don’t do transforming toys very often but they have done a thoroughly great job here. If you are in any way a fan of Orguss or just classic 80s mecha design, then you owe it to yourself to pick this beauty up." - Cacophanus Ok, MegaHouse, time to announce when is the next release for Olson and OrgussII?

I see. Not sure if Pop Box ever released Roy's figure though. I assumed it's limited if it's just sold during the 'fest. Would it be nice if the store clerks/owners let you have a peek first before buying it. Atleast you have idea now what Pop Box figs looks like. If they're the same then it's a repackaged one for the 'fest. Need someone to confirm this since I'm just basing on what I know and what I saw online years ago. Hope that helps Garyboy. -
Wow! NY price went up a bit from PO last weekend for about Y2000+ more. I was hoping that this is around like $60 a piece. Been wanting to have a decent and not so 'provocative' Sheryl and Ranka figs for so long now. But not sure though what to say to the wifey when she sees it if ever. Hahaha! Anyways, congrats spanner!

DId you get a chance to peek what's inside? Does it look something like these? Uniform - http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/hikaru-review/popbox-hikaru-review.htm Space Suit - http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/hikaru-review/popbox-fshikaru-preview.htm If so, that's made by Pop Box. Released in 2006 (Uniform) and 2007 (Space Suit). And that's the only one sixth scale figure that I know of Hikaru that's poseable and wears fabric. The rest one sixth scale are old PVC kits. But by looking at the box, it's probably a different one sixth scale figure. Unless it was repackaged? -
Good thing I also PO'ed on this one days ago at AmiAmi. And they're still open just in case people still wants to add it to their collection. The white goggled Armored VF-1J.
-
Let's hope that's the case since AmiAmi and CDJapan are the only ones that it's 'sold out'. The rest they're still selling it for SRP which is around Y35000-Y37000.

That I didn't know. Sorry about that. If so, how come Megahouse charge more for this figure compared to Bandai's DX Valks. I mean, it has the same quality. Should Bandai have say on the final pricing? Or even if Megahouse is under Bandai, they probably paid Bandai's production team for planning and 3D/CAD artists/designers and just distribute it under Megahouse name. Hence, increase the price for involving Bandai's people. Oh well... just saying. On a serious note, I'm just happy with the figure but not the price. I really don't want to miss the opportunity on having this at SRP than wait for months after if the price will go up or down. If it's go down or put up on sale, let's just say below $200, I'll buy another one. It it goes up, then I feel lucky to have this at MSRP inspite of some minor flaws. If not, I will just wait if they will still continue the line with Olson, OrgussII, and Nikick. But hoping they do OrgusII/Olson first. That's the original price they posted since PO. And that's what I paid for.

Yup. It does feel like holding a Bandai DX Valks that has a good paint application. You're welcome. Don't get me wrong on the locking tabs and hip joints. Probably some random figure have a different take on the joints and tabs. It's just so happen that the one I got had some minor issues on the locking tabs. Not a biggie though. But even it didn't lock properly, it didn't collapse or anything. And the locking tabs that I mentioned were hidden upon transformation. And for sure, it will hold properly if you apply those 'parts-filler' things. I only said this because I didn't apply those parts-filler myself when I was checking the figure last night. I just transform the figure from Orgroid to Gerwalk. But looking also on the manual the parts-filler covers the transformation mechanism locking tabs at the back. So I assumed it will hold properly. The slightly loose joints on the thigh probably because of the pull and push feature of the joint itself. Pulling for Gerwalk mode and pushing for Orgroid mode. I have a feeling that if those were super tight as well, there will be more paint scratching going to happen when you transform the figure. But you're right, for a $300 small toy, we have to expect more from it.

Tony: "Hahaha! That... is... so much better than Iron Patriot." By the way, brouken, you forgot that it should be ALL CAPS. Thanks spanner! Thanks abbadon! I did post my initial reaction last night at the Orguss is Back thread. Hope that helps. -
Ok. So I did found time on transforming this since I got it weeks ago. And I gotta say that it is super tight. Didn't bother on opening the landing gears and doors. I just transform it away. Got scared also on areas where I was pulling it too much and thought that I might break something. But good thing I didn't. Fins are sharp and it's good that it didn't cut or bleed my fingers. Also, I did get some paint scratching on the locking tabs which is not a biggie since there's nothing we can do there. Hehehe. I also noticed that my Engine Air Intake warning tampo prints is not align as well. But overall, a great figure. Can't wait for its VF-0S counterpart. Hoping for a Reactive Armor as well.

I'm BACK! Hahaha! Great purchases everyone! Anyways, I got these today. -
Got this today. I love the packaging. It's matte-finish. Paying homage to the old Takatoku box back in the 80's which is superb by the way. And love the magnetic flap. About the figure, it looks great. It's kinda small, but it's the best Orguss figure out there. And it doesn't look like it came from MegaHouse. Quality-wise, it felt like Bandai made it. The thigh joint is slightly loose. I have to figure out next time if there's a way to tighten it up. Knee joint is somehow ratcheted. Same effect on Valks, you have to pull the knee joint so it can bend more forward to do a good A-stance. There's some minor flaw on the transformation lock joints. Some are just not too deep to keep the locking tabs in place. Esp on the shoulder joints and the locking tab on the back area. It's not a major issue, but it's just something to notice. Paint-wise, the figure came too clean and glossy. I love the paint apps. But you do have to watch for some paint scratching area when transforming it. When flipping the back area towards the shoulder area. It might hit or scratch some areas of the shoulder armor (white). In order not to get hit is move the shoulder armor away first before flipping the back area. This is when you transform it to Gerwalk or Flyer. Watch also on the area where the thigh and wing area meets. It's not also a biggie, but just watch out for those parts scratching when transforming the toy. Overall, I like the quality and feel of the toy. It has a good diecast content to make the figure sturdy and heavy. It also has 'parts-swapping' when transforming the toy. Well, it's not actually a parts-swapping, but it's more like a 'parts-filler' to make it anime-accurate. You have to attach some parts to cover some joints or gaps during Gerwalk and Tank mode. Not sure on the Flyer though since I didn't check. It's not a big concern for me. But it's good that they did supplied for a gap filler instead of leaving the figure with an exposed joints or big gaps. I did have plans before on getting an extra one just in case that this will be the 'last' decent Orguss figure that we're going to see. But it's the killer price that's stopping me. That's why I'm just gonna keep one. However, I do and I'm willing to spend the same amount again if they're going to release an Olson Special or an Orguss II (CF) in the future. But for now, I'm happy for what I have. Here's some photos I took earlier to show comparison on the 1/60 VF-1 (ver2). Sorry about the quality though. I just used my iPhone. Anyways, enjoy!

Selected photos from 2chan: Love the height comparison. It has a decent height besides DX Valks. Back-side attachment during Tank Mode to make it anime-accurate. VF-1 inspired hand transformation. QC issue. Guess, the white is painted over the clear green canopy. Box comparison from Takatoku. But all in all, love it. Now I wish there will be an Olson Special in the works soon. If not, need a big budget to buy for a second one.

It's been awhile... just got my notification from AmiAmi. Hopefully it will arrive by next week. Wishing I have a budget for a second one. Yup. It's legit. As mentioned on his blog via Google Translate, it's the same prototype that's been displayed at the Tokyo Anime Fair 2009: http://wildcats.pupui.jp/mt/archives/2009/03/2009_part2.html

Last I saw the Fuke prototype were in Yacolog's site: http://wildcats.pupui.jp/mt/archives/2011/12/2011_2.html Anyways, hope there's some company to finish those two. I'm interested to have a matching Blue Alpha/Beta as long that it's a good quality. Read a lot of negatives regarding MPC release. And knowing that this will somehow be a reissue of old molds, then probably it's going to have the same weak points. I'll probably wait for reviews first.

True. Just want to be on the positive side here for Olson or CF version as well. Hope it will sell. I'm thinking as same as VF-0D. Up to the month of its release, some site still offering PO. Let's hope it will sell so that they have the option on making the other variants or release Nikick just to complete the main mechas. If not, I'm just glad that there's a new Orguss figure that's almost anime-accurate. I remember there's some photos before that shows the diecast content. But it's safe to assume that most of the joints are diecast. If that happens, the sale for this figure, I'll buy another one. Assuming they're not gonna release Olson or CF variants.
