Well , now that the Super O and ELint are out there´re only two possible releases left , those being the Monster (which with the large number of bankrupt members will pretty much go unnoticed ) and the Q-Rau (that´s one baby I ought to have). Th one toy I´m looking foward too is the re-sculpted YF-19 FP. I really hope they get it right and as beautiful as possible. After that It would be nice if Yamato either : -Continued the enemy mecha line... ( read: Why should a poor lad like me live without a Glaug? ) - Continued the Destroid line...(read: I want my damn Spartan damnit ) or - Get on with it and started producing M0 toys...(read: that VF-0D Shin variant is mine already! )

Until I actually see it, I'm inclined to think otherwise. The VF-1 low viz was probably never slated to make an appearance. It's existance is based solely upon a custom created by someone who bought the 1/48 toy. However, if one person's custom toy can influence both a toy line AND an anime ova series, I'll be pleasently surprised. It´s a nice dream but I seriously doubt so , but if it happens then you can be sure as hell there´ll be a customiser in Japan screaming like a School Girl in a Boys Band´s concert In any case , Kawamori should definitively include the VF-1 in the later episodes or at the very least in Ep.5,independently of its colour scheme (Go Bulky Lee Go !)

Gotta love engrish I bet the other slots must be for the Armored VF-0 , a new Anti-UN fighter (the compendium has a SV-52 listed so who knows...), the VF-1 (hopefully as a low-vis variant ) and the other Destroid.

Graham can I ask you something ? When did Yamato really start planning the production of the 1/48 line ? I ask this because I´ve noticed that not only does the 1/48 line emulate the same pattern of releases of the 1/60 line but after the sheer fanatism of people towards these toys the 1/60 line seems unnecessary and obsolete in the complete sense of the word. Is there still a market for the 1/60 line when there´s a better product available for the consumer (which apparently has no economical restrains) ? My reason for this awkward questions is that I´m curious about the prospects of success (for both Yamato and the consumer ) for the upcoming 1/72 line in regards to the 1/48 line popularity , in other words how is Yamato gonna cope with a more demanding consumer who´s accustomed to high quality products if they are to release another mass production line (read: not as good as 1/48s)? I´m not sking for official info in any way just your thoughts and opinion

The only improvements I can think of are : 1) improve the pilot sculpt , add more detal and perhaps somoe articulation on the arms at the very least. 2) Reduce the price for God sake ! 3) Add grey panel lines

Thanks guys , at least I now know that there´s another version of Ep.2 , hopefully it doesn´t have the distortion problem , but there´s still the doubt of whether the subs are good enough though
-
That´s what I´ve been saying , glad someone agrees with my perspective. As I said , Kawamori oughts to show the VF-1 (maybe the low-vis , who knows ) in Macross Zero , at least by ep.4 as a mean to have a more powerful VF in the war against the Anti-UN and if not making a glorious appearance in ep.5 , independently of wheter the VF-0 is a prototype or not.

Cheers mate I wonder if by now there´re more versions of Macross Zero Ep.2 like the one of Ep.1 which doesn´t feature the messy horizontal lines distortion thingy. does anyone have a copy of Ep.2 that isn´t the MI version though ? I´m trully desperate for a domestic/international release

Jesus , Yamato had us waiting a long time for new 1/60s , wonder if they´ll continue much further after the Monster and Q-rau , well they have been busy with the 1/48 so maybe they switch to 1/60 mass production back again...who knows. I´m that of a big fan of these valks so I´ll have to pass , but another toy I pass now is another toy I´ll get tomorrow What´s up with the Boxes ? is Yamato venturing into the pet transportation business or what ? that thing can fit my cat ! Standing UP !!

Just a small question.- yeah I know it has been asked before but I assumed that by now there would be more variety and more people with the DVDs-. Which Macross Zero DVDs (apart from the un-subbed original DVDs) are the best quality to your experience ? I recall there´re FX and MI versions of DYRL but I haven´t seen any details regarding swheter there´s more than one subtitled version of the first 2 OVAs (they all just say Macross Zero HK version or just that is subtitled). I would want to know how good the subs are and the video quality as well (below or above fansubs quality?). Thanks in advance Cheers

The only alternative ending I can think of is if Isamu was the one fighting the Ghost and Guld the one that goes to recue Myung , then Isamu somehow kicks the hell out of the X-9 just in time for him to arrive at the precise moment Sharon rams the YF-21 with the SDF-1 , now that would be nice , think of the shock both Myung and Isamu would get. I wonder why the Neo Glaug (or the variable Glaug I forgot, well it´s the one from MP:GE for PSX) never was featured in the OVA or Movie , it would´ve been nice to see the VF-5000 as well
-
I´m only interested in two Destroids , the Spartan and the new M0 Destroid (it has wheels and rotable arms like the Konig , I just love that, what do you expect from me ). the main things have been pointed out already but it would be nice to have replaceable parts featuring damage , like a hanging arm with wires and things like that .

Seeing that this series had characters from most sequels and prequels I think that the second series might contain Roy or Max , Basara, Edward or Sara and possibly someone from Macross Plus this time. I wonder if they would release all versions of Sharon Apple . Anyway I´m hoping to see Shin or DD Ivanov from M0 simply because I love the suits and helmet fortunately my birthday is in February so I won´t have to pay for this little gift

Currently my fav toy is the 1/60 VF-1J , I was looking at the upcoming 1/48 VF-1J and I have to recognise I feel tempted but I´d rather buy a different toy like the Low-Viz or Hikaru 1S along with a GBP armour if sold separatelly. In the meantime I pray that Yamato makes a VF-5000 and a VF-0D Shin variant , once those are out my arse belongs to them.

What I meant by seeing beyond the animation is that we shouldn´t assume something is/looks more advanced solely because of eye-candy animation and fast choreography. Perhaps the animators failed in representating the VF-0 technological limits by making an emphasis in the action of the battle and the early variable fighters dynamic combat. I believe that if they made M+ with M0´s animation it would be a lot faster and dynamic than what we saw in the original OVAs. I highly doubt so , if they haven´t said that by now then it´s very difficult they´ll say it in the next episodes. I agree , I think many orthodox fans may find it unbearable to watch a new series that features a VF-1 look-alike without actually seeing the real thing in its newly animated glory ; that to my mind is the main reason people show so much critisism and biased assumptions agaisnt the VF-0.

whoops my bad, forgot the date of macross zero, for some reason I thought it was earlier. Still the thought that they were developed togeather one as a high end fighter the other as a mass produced one is not a bad theory. It has happened the more advanced of two lines developed side being canceled even after early production for budget reasons. Also I know nothing bout VF-X, How cannon is this game considered? VF-X and VF-X-1 are not games (well , there´s a game called VF-X but it has nothing to do with this) but rather the prototypes used to test the VF-1 desing.
-
WOW , Jesus , where the hell did that come from ? whoever did that is either a great modeler (if he did it from scratch) or is in contact with the owner of the one-off Hasegawa/Yamato contest model. I don´t think is of much relevance if it´s just a fan model , but maybe Yamato (or rather Hasegawa) should keep an eye on this...maybe that´s a bit too paranoic though.
-
That´s the version I mostly wanna see. But as a grey VF-0A cannon fodder. And of course Roy´s VF-0S type. I DO wanna see the VF-0D as a first release so they prove any issues on it since I like the S and A types better. That´s just me yeah , from what we´ve seen so far in the OVAs we should expect at least the following variants: -VF-0A cannon fodder -VF-0S Roy -VF-0D cannon fodder -VF-0D Shin variant -SV-51 cannon fodder -SV-51 Nora variant -SV-51 DD variant -SV-52 ? That´s a lot of toys , Yamato could release all the cannon fodder variants first and then the characters variants.

Considering most people on the boards are in the States (I believe a lot of guys are in California ) Kevin´s Valkyrie Exchange is the most popular place online ,but for most people overseas HLJ does the job (shame they had to cut the UPS delivery service though , I haven´t check the serive nowadays but I hope is as good as it´s always been).I haven´t bought from Twin Moons but I plan to do when the M0 line comes out.

Now, this is the thing I don´t get. How could the VF-0 possibly be a damn prototype of the VF-1 if the VF-1 was one step away from being released from the production lines and the VF-1 airframe and design features were already tested by the VF-X and VF-X-1 series !? If anything the VF-0 draws/copies the design of the VF-1. It would be very foolish if we assumed the VF-0 was an older model than the VF-1 simply because of the numeration of the valkyries...And don´t use that ¨oh the VF-1 could be considered a future fighter¨ argument because it doesn´t make sense. Think about it , where did the UN get its basic design for most of the Pre-2040 valkyries ? the VF-1 ! where do you think they would get the design for a new testbed in 2008 if there´s no other variable fighter design apart from the VF-1 !? I mean , C´mon people isn´t it obvious ? I hate to put nostalgia and sentimentalism aside for once but not because I love the VF-1 am I going to assume there´s no space for a early development of a fighter during a time which until now was completely empty in the continuity. And the idea that the VF-0 is or looks more advanced than the VF-1 is just ridiculous, if people can´t see beyond the animation improvements of later series then there´s nothing we can do to help them. How difficult can be to accept the VF-0 could just simply be a testbed for testing new armament system and stealth features for fighters like the VF-X-4 ? When has it ever been stated the VF-1 even exists in macross zero? I don't remember ever hearing mention of its existence. for all you know it could be another 4 years till a VF-1 is even made. mmm mate , Macross Zero is set in 2008 , the VF-X-1 first flight is in 2007 already and by 2009 the VF-1 makes its first appearance so I really doubt there would be 4 years between 2007-2009. Taking this into account we could say that the VF-0 and VF-1 projects were paralel to each other and in that sense one was aimed to be the cheap mass production model and the other one a testbed for post-VF-1 fighters. So maybe in 2008 the VF-X-1 project went in two different ways , one the VF-0 proggrame and the other the VF-1 proggrame (and no , the VF-0 could not possibly be the VF-X-1 prototype because that prototype was used for space flight test using thermonuclear engines). I have to agree though that Kawamori owes to put the VF-1 in Macross Zero , at least by the end of the series or even by Ep.4 , with the all-new animation treatment.

yeah I have to agree with Omni here. A 1/48 Macross Plus line would be unpractical and unaffordable. A 1/60 YF-19 would be about the same height as the 1/48 VF-1 , and as we´ve already seen , that size is big enough to make a great toy with lots of detail , so if you think about it , a 1/60 YF-19 would be just as good as the current 1/48 line. Yamato is loosing sales even before they release the re-sculpted 1/72 YF-19FP because of the 1/48 craze ,maybe they´ll scrap it and go directly to 1/60...who knows , maybe they´ll make a uber-huge 1/48 YF-19 afterall, but I doubt they´ll get as many sales as with something smaller. I even wonder why they bother announcing a 1/72 M0 line when people will eventually just buy 1/48 toys and nothing else , and if even if they decided to go everything-must-be-1/48 then there´d be nothing special about the 1/48 line because it would be the standard line and that would suck...
-
how dare you forget the Mighty Spartan !? It has to be the most versatile Destroid of the whole bunch , the design is just beautiful and aggresive. The new M0 destroid isn´t far behind though , as much as people say it´s too AC-ish I think is quite retro and mechanical looking , It may very well be one of the never-before-seen Destroids that were used before SW1. I think the Spartan would make for a very good toy , and with the upcoming Q-Rau the idea of Destroid toys isn´t that far-fetched

definitively : 4) Toynami steals Macross license from Yamato and shoves MPC crappiness down our throats. ...just joking I think the costs of buying the plain valk and then separately the GBP would be to high , whereas buying them in a bundle would somehow lower costs , so I voted for number 3). But it would be nice to see a Hikaru 1S with that lovely armour , and that valk is definitively going into my collection (that or the Low-viz and GBP ). November can´t come any sooner
-
Maybe it´s time I pick up this 1/48 , but I´ll wait until a GBP armour set is announced if it´s sold separately I may also buy a Low-vis as well(mainly because of the improvements and pilot). Who knows , I definetivley wait some more time to see what happens.
