  1. I really hope that eventually happens So , in short this means Studio Nue has the rights to all the designs , meaning the damn UN symbol (which is present in all macross series) is theirs , so there should be no problem with sequels. Man , I'm so tired of waiting , I whish this will bring something good even if it's old news...
  2. My policy is always to buy one the toy of the mechas I like the most and nothing else , so if they ever release the Spartan I'll only buy one.
  3. I don't see where this continuity problem might come from , I mean , no one ever worried about continuity when M+ came out because that period in the macross time-line wasn't written yet , in the case of M0 is the almost the same , SDF macross was strictly about SW1 , not the events leading to it so I don't see where could Kawamori utterly destroy the continuity if there hasn't been any other series that focus on the Mayan conflict or anything related to that. To assume that the only mechas in existence by SW1 or before where the ones seen in the Macross would be foolish to say the least , specially when overtechnology was still new to humanity and the UN was under pressure to develop new technologies for combat (I really doubt the Destroids or any other mecha stationed in the Macross would've been the best selection for combat in the desert or the jungle , etc...)

    Macross Plus Toys

Yes ; Why ? use the search button and read all the past ''I want 1/48 Y/VF-XX'' threads or whatever. I surely damn hope so , the Ghost has as much importance(if not more) in the OVAs as the VF-11 , and yet we haven't seen any sign of Yamato ever considering making a Ghost X-9. I don't care if it doesn't transform , they still can put a lot of detail in it if they wanted to (like opening missile bays with micro missiles inside , or FPs and whatnot ). If they are taking the time to re-release M+ toys , why the heck don't they make the most of their license (see my thread) and release a damn VF-5000B for a change !? Yes, the B variant was featured in the M+:GE game for PSOne so they could easily make one , as well as a lot of other VFs (like the neo glaug which didn't appear at all in M7 and the VF-14 which is seen in the Movie ). I would really be pissed off if they decide to release huge , unpractical , 1/48 M+ toys , not because I don't want spectacular M+ toys but because I belive Yamato is now able to make good quality toys without the need for them to make them in 1/48 scale (look at the Q-Rau and Mosnter ; furthermore , if they weren't sure that they can offer high quaility toys in smaller scales they wouldn't have decided to go with 1/72 for the upcoming M0 toys )
  5. I was reffering to thew license , If Yamato made a VF-19A and the box in which it came said VF-X2 then that means they have the VF-X2 toy license (apart from the Macross Plus license).the toy might be just a repaint but if they have the license for VF-X2 they could make a lot more toys with it. The case scenario is the following: -They have both licenses. - They've only released 4 different toys from those licenses while there's clearly a lot of other VFs that could be released (i.e for the VF-X2 license they've only released one toy while they could easily release other toys such as the Konig or the VF-5000B -which is also featured in M+:GE - but they haven't ). - They're now re-releasing the M+ toys in 1/72 , and the YF-19 is being totally re-sculpted. - The VF-1 lines are coming to an end. - This is the time for them to release M0 toys Now with this is mind , if they have 2 different imcomplete lines (VF-X2 & M+) , wouldn't it be better to finish them first and then focus on something else ? Obviously it would be too much of a risk if they miss the opportunity to produce M0 toys now , so they cannot possibly start releasing new M+ toys instead of M0 toys ; BUT , what if they released M0 toys and M+ toys in paralel like the 1/60 & 1/48 lines (but in the same 1/72 scale) ? <_<
  6. NOOOOOOO!!! Damn it ! I thought this was the Worst Gaming platform Thread and voted for the XBox (this is not joke), just in time to realise it was the Best Gaming Platform....I wasted my vote ...what a shame Anyway I'll have to clarify my vote , which definitively goes towards the SNES , no other platform has more variety of games , more gameplay value , more enjoyable multiplayer games and furthermore , no other platform has hosted so many successful games than the SNES. the NES was good , but in its age it had as much competition as todays market , the SNES in the other hand was the king , yes , Sega was big but not big enough, the SNES made 2D graphics reach its peak (until the GBA came out ) The Playstation comes closely in second place , it opened (although through , sometimes, ilegal means ) the door for japanese (particularly anime-based)games to be released in the West , which was the main reason I bought one. It's funny but I never owned a SNES in my life , mostly because I always went to my mate's house to play his games , I whish I had bought one but now that the GBA is out I don't need to and better yet , I can take it everywhere B)
  7. Hi guys , long time since I last made a topic myself The other day I was watching M+ all over again (Movie and OVAs ) and was thinking : wait a momment , why is there only VF-11s, YF-19 and YF-21 toys if there're so many other mechas here ??? It makes no sense since Yamato has the license for Macross Plus , furthermore they could even make VF-5000s and Neo-Glugs based on the Macross Plus :GE game , I also noticed that in the movie there's a VA(VF)-14 stationed in Edwards (during the tests in an scene when Isamu throws his helmet to the young YF-19 designer -yeah I forgot the name- ) , they could even make the X-9 Ghost with opening missile bays and all ; And what about the Renegade armours ? Seriously , If they're finished with the SuperNova YFs why don't they invest their time with other popular (and not so popular yet incredebly kickass) mechas which are featured in M+ ? Yamato has at least two lines which are trully under-exploited and incomplete , I mean , how the heck is there only ONE fricking toy for VF-X2 (i.e. VF-19A ) ; from a business point of view it makes no sense to pay for a whole license and then only produce just a handful of toys I understand that they are now busy with the VF-1 line (1/48 & 1/60) hence they have no time to do it now , but why did they start making VF-1 toys before they even finished to fully exploit their other licenses in the first place? Maybe they eventually will exploit these licenses since they've said they'll focus solely in 1/72 scale for future toys (just like the current M+ toys) but with the new M0 OVAs I doubt they'll want to concentrate in something else (make the most profit of what is hot now). What do you guys think ? Will the wait be worth it with the current advances in production and design that Yamato has shown with the 1/48 line ? or would you rather have VF-X2/M+ & M0 toy being released in paralel duriong the upcoming years ?
  8. Mostly because the mayority of members here are older than the common anime fan and thus were only influenced by SDF Macross at a younger age while with the other series they weren't as impressed as with the original series ; Moreover , most members here live in NA and there isn't much availability in regards to Macross sequels overthere so there hasn't been much new stuff to enjoy apart from the Animeigo sets unless you are willing to buy from overseas online. In my case I see Macross as a whole , not just one series with a few sequels , instead I see it as one story with many chapters and characters , any new series is just another bit of the story that adds to the depth and richness of the whole concept behind Macross and in that sense Macross Plus is a great exponent of Kawamori's vision.
  9. Since Gundam's explosion of popularity, people ALWAYS compare any other mecha show to Gundam like it's some kind of universal fan standard for mecha. Not unlike the annoying "Oh that looks really cool. Reminds me of this one episode of Star Trek where they..." In many ways, Gundam's need to redesign its mecha with every series means it sometimes takes influences from other mecha shows. Seed's commonality to Full metal Panic is obviously no accident. As far as I can tell, the FA VF-0S has absolutely no Gundam design lineage whatsoever. This full armor variant for the VF-0 is undoubtedly all Macross, I can see the design elements clearly. Anyone who has a copy of Macross Perfect Memory would know what a Gundam-ized Macross would look like if it ever came to being. The Valkyrie design looks as much as a Gundam as a Patlabor looks like an Eva. In other words, nothing. As for the arms, people often make the mistake of assuming mecha work like humans because they share the same form. It's a common science fiction falacy to assume a small or thin structure is somehow weak. In the case of the VF-0, the small forearms would actually reduce the load bearing weight of the forearms because the upper arms are small. You'd have the same weight, just spread across less arm. Also, the smaller upper arms look like they provide the VF-0 with much more freedom of movement for the arm and much more flexibility. Precisely I believe the lighter armour compensates for the bigger airframe of the VF-0 and some design features such as the small forearms as well as the leg covers improve the mobility of the mecha , but at the same time the ammount of weaponary is decreased in comparison to the VF-1 GBP which is designed for the much smaller and lighter VF-1.
  10. Definetively a Ghost prototype At last we'll see some action from these babies , though I suspect they'll get blown out pretty quickly if they ever encounter DD or Nora in the air. I'm not a all suprised by modern look of the aircraft itself since current UAVs look pretty similar and this is supposed to be set int 2008 and there's this thing called overtechnology which more or less changed the technological standards of that era , I'm only suprised they decided to use foward-swept wings in an UAV , but what the heck it looks nice anyway
  11. Holy mother of all valkyries ! Jesus I knew Kawamori would do something like this , he's da man , I luv him ! That GBP VF-0S is lovely and who's more kick-ass and better qualified to pilot such an important piece of kit than the man himself , Mr.Roy Focker ? prepare for a proper beating DD ivanov B) I don't know where all this Gundam fans are getting the idea that this is in any way similar to Gundam (maybe it's because they can't think of anything else <_< ) but in my personal opinion (and this in a totally possitive manner) this design is more of a blend between AC mechas and M7's FA VF-11C in a very retro/prototype-kinda style which i like a lot, particularly the backpack as well as the shield (wonder how will the SWAG armour play a role here )and the leg covers. It's funny the level of naivity (no offense) some people present when talking about the endurance of mechanical parts , like the forearms of mechas such as the VF-0 , by assuming they would be fragile in some way by the sole reason that they look skinny , we're talking about combat mechas here ppl ! not humans ! , another factor to take into account is the SWAG armour At this point it's quite obvious that the armoured VF-0 (and for that matter the VF-1 GBP ) is limited in terms of mobility in atmosphere so I expect to see this valk deployed solely in close combat situations but at the same time (and with good reasons ) the armour seems a lot lighter than any other armoured valk so this may be and just illusion.
  12. Wow , this game seems to worth the wait afterall , It's nice to see Mikimoto's work in a macross production once again , even if it's not an animation, though the blonde bloke looks a bit weird IMO. The purple scheme doesn't bother me at all to be totally honest , but in any case custom colour schemes would be a pretty good addition. it seems as if this game is at last recieving some proper support from the parties involved in the production (i.e. Bandai's marketing support and SEGA's game development experience ) so all in all it's seems we'll at last get something half-decent from the game industry .
  13. I don´t see the point of this thread since we´ve got 2 other threads that cover this topic already but I´ll play along anyway , forget about the VF-1s , we need new stuff already , so I voted for M0 since I´d love a perfect VF-0D toy , whether that´s in 1/72 or 1/48 scale (the latter being the one I would dread the most as it would be tremendously big even in comparison with 1/48 M+ valks).
  14. Nice topic , I wonder why we haven´t seen it before now Well, I have enjoyed each and every Macross series to date in no orther of preference : Macross Zero : Great concept , solid character development , awesome mecha designs (mostly the VF-0D and SV series ) and spectacular animation. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross : marvelous characters , great plot development with lots of drama and the icon of all mecha designs - the VF-1 B) ! ; oh , and the music of course. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: DYRL? : Awesome animation , awesome music and great action Macross Plus : With the sole exception of the character designs this series is Perfect ! 9.9/10 Macross 7 : Great mecha designs , as originals and varied as in the original series , pleasant music for the most part and well defined characters. I believe Kawamori has achieved in introducing more variety into the franchise with each new series and in thaat respect I´ve come to love each series by their own attributes and in the same scale.
  15. It would be nice if Kawamori re-released his Design Works book again , many other books get released over the years but the Design Works book is very limited now and hasn´t been re-released. Edit: In the other hand it would be a waste if there wasn´t a significant number of additions such as the M0 mechas and other stuff , but if they just re-released the same book it would be a blessing nonetheless, the price tag on that bible is now $40 minimum
  16. So that as soon as your set nears completion you ahve to buy them all over again in a larger scale or an enhanced version? Well , that´s been Yamato strategy for a long time now
  17. Holy mother of all action figures !!! THAT , is the most wonderfuly sculpted action figure I´ve seen in my whole lifetime
  18. Sorry ? M+ plus had deep character development by the second OVA ? yeah right ...Isamu was still the same wreckless pilot , Guld was still a blank piece of paper apart from his spontaneous attacks and Myung hardly changed by the end of the OVAs. Macross Plus was more about the conflict itself than the characters involved in the conflict. Macross Plus was well directed , and we´ve only come to realise that once we´ve seen it all. People assume and prejudge things before they ever finnish and because of the vision they build from those assumptions they never bother to re-evaluate their preconceptions and see the whole thing and enjoy it, I bet that by this time you´re more than disinterested about Ep.3 or M0 as a whole. I myself don´t assume Macross Zero is gonna be great because it could be crap from now on , but I don´t completely disregard its good assets which by far exceed the bad ones. I respect you decision of limiting your vision of Macross to just the original series , but for me Macross didn´t end with the original series , Macross as it is is an unfinished story and will remain so , sequels just expand its concepts in a constructive process and that´s what I enjoy. My sole interest in Macross Zero was not triggered because of the name Macross , I don´t buy everything with a label , I watch it because it complements the whole concept of Macross , and if I had a limited vision of what the author idea is I wouldn´t enjoy Macross at all. It seems a waste of time to say people like Macross if they only like the original series , the TV series don´t represent Macross solely by themselves , it they could Kawamori would´ve finnished this whole thing long time ago when Macross stopped airing in Japan in the 80s , there would be no DYRL? , most importantly DYRL? itself it´s a proof that Macross can´t be told in an strict and limited manner and that the original series isn´t all there´s is to it.
  19. I´m really astonished as the the cynic approach people are now taking towards M0 , we wait years for a new series to come and we bitch about not getting any new stuff and that M7 was crap and all that sh*t , suddenly Kawamori anounces a new OVA series , every time a new episode is released everyone gets exited and starts especulating about this and that and after the episode is available everyone starts to praise how good and beautiful it was , then all of a sudden people start nitpicking for God knows what reason after they claimed to like the OVA , WTF ? They don´t like the plot ... the OVAs are just starting for God´s sake ! They don´t like the characters development... Jesus , this is an OVA not a TV series. They don´t like the mecha because they look too ¨advanced¨...what do you expect , Kawamori has passed through years of experience and experimentation with his style and now that´s how he like to design mechas , you can´t do anything to change that. They don´t like the music ...yeah , it´s not as dynamic as M+ but at least we didn´t get M7 kinda music , would you´ve liked that instead ? A few months ago I wouldn´t have epxected to see this kind of orthodox behaviour where the only good thing in Macross is the TV series , I´m not saying the contrary at all but Macross shouldn´t be just about SDF Macross , otherwise you wouldn´t be able to say you´ve enjoyed all of Macross. It´s pretty clear by now that most people here want a TV series but we all know what happened when the last one came out and we all know there´s still many people who would´ve had something else , perhaps more serious and now that we get it people are somehow dissapointed it´s not a rehash of SDF macross. The same happens with Macross toys , people are disconcerned about other non-SDF Macross Mechas and that´s understandable after almost 20 years of drought of macross toys, it´s all about the nostalgia factor and that´s why we see so many prequels and re-makes in Hollywood , but you know what ? I don´t give a monkey´s ass about nostalgia , Macross is a part of my life forever and I don´t need that nostalgic crap to ensure myself about that , if I wanted to see SDF Macross I would go and watch the DVD sets not praise for a CG rendition of it like some people in the old boards. I still enjoy the original series to this day because of what it is , and that´s the reason I want to see its ideas and concepts expanded in sequels and prequels even. It seems satysfaction is something unreachable when it comes to Macross.
  20. yeah it is lacking something , you what ? proper plot development , you know why ? cause there´s only 2 damn episodes available , how the heck do people expect to get involved in the story if it hasn´t been told yet ? We´ve pass through all this before with M+ and now it´s one of the best Macross series to date , it´s not appropiate to blame the production team or the OVA if people are not used to the OVA format and it´s tendency to be slowly released , specially with series with proper budgets. all OVAs are ¨rush rush¨ in regards to character introductions , they don´t have the time TV series enjoy for introduction purposes , they are unable to extend beyond the scheduled 5 episodes so that fanboys can get to know the most tiniest of details about the characters and whatnot. In the Macross Plus OVAs Isamu´s character was introduced fairly fast after the roguh Zentradi scene , he didn´t evolve at all during the series and yet he was great , Shin in the other hand has evolved much more in just 2 episodes and we´ve come to see various aspects of his person , Focker is one of the most interesting characters in the whole OVA , this time showing a more , let´s say , sober side of him and with that we´re starting to see part of this veteran´s past. The music aspect of the OVAs are certainly less dynamic than other Macross productions but at least is not overly J-pop like M7 and some of the tunes are quite enjoyable.
  21. Because as humand kind began to colonise other planets after SW1 those colonies started buying VF-1s because they needed some kind of defense as well , the VF-1s became obsolete and cheaper , the UN at the same time couldn´t possibly stay in the same technological level as the distant colonies and had to improve the technology and since the colonies had variable fighters already (i.e. VF-1s) they also continued to develop variable fighters. Add to this the fact that the survivors of SW1 were still pretty shoked after almost all of Earths population was annihilated in just one battle against the Zentran and Meltran army , and I doubt they would risk the human race again in case there was still more fleets in the universe.
  22. Darn it , more VF-1s...am I the only one tired of them or what ? The only worthy release is the GBP armour set , that´s the only thing that would add some diversity after the FPs. If only Yamato would be crazy enough (again) to release a custom such as the Thunder Hummer, but that ain´t gonna happen , at least not before the GBP
  23. I voted for Zero mostly because of the ansiety I feel right now to have a VF-0D toy whatever the scale is but then the sheer idea of a VF-0 in 1/48 scale horrorised me , we´ve discussed about the possibility of 1/48 M+ toys and many people have realised that such a thing would be stupidly unpractical because of the size of the M+ mechas , and in that sense M0 toys would be even worse yet because of their larger size. It would be nice to have better toy renditions of non-SDF Macross mechas but since the VF-1 is one of the smallest mechas in Macross I think we should reconsider whether 1/48 is really apropiate if we want 1/48 VF-1 kinda toys.
  24. Stupid gimmick !!!??? that´s an outrageously stupid assumption, how do you expect Ivanov to localize Fokker´s VF-0 and shoot him down without giving away his possition by exposing the whole of the mecha and being shot at ? specially when all the sensors are located in the head unit ? that would be plainly stupid if you ask me...furthermore , the SV-51s featured in EP.2 were adapted for underwater take off and in that situation a telescopic head unit is very handy , particularly when the pilot is unable to see beyond a few meters underwater , let alone beyond the surface of the water <_<
