HLJ's response seems to be their standard "keep the customer happy" response. I think the reality could go either way, but Bandai is the one driving it. If they intend to ship out more units, then they will. If not, then there was probably a miscommunication on availability. It's too bad, but as others have said, I'll use the money I had earmarked for this on something else.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

The Master Made bots are worth it, Noel, and they don't take up too much space. I have Makuros and Titan (Metroplex), myself, with Diabolus (Trypticon) on the way. Apollo (Omega) was pre-ordered some time back. Their take on Scroponok looks sweet too. For me, it's a great way to collect the transforming city bots without setting aside a whole wall for the display. One thing I keep hoping to see is for Master Made to revisit other Macross designs. An SD Macross Quarter or an SD Macross 7 would be an insta-buy for me, especially if they came with more scaled-down SD Valkyries to go with them. -
I think the M&M HM-R announcement makes an Arcadia copy-cat announcement more likely. At least, I hope that's true, because I would be in for buying these at both scales.

For me, it's going to be difficult to dethrone TOS and DS9 as my favorite official TV Trek voyages.

It sucks that Arcadia didn't have solid QC on the new Zero Valkyries until the 0S. With the VF-1 reissues, I can't shake the feeling that they are missing a good opportunity by not moving outside of that Roy/Hikaru comfort zone.*shrug* I could be wrong with that impression...

I'm pretty happy with Seraphicus. MMC did well providing an option to get the core bot by its lonesome. I would say that the core bot is enriched by the armor, but doesn't really require it. Looking at just the core, it scales in size very close to Spartan. I might post a more detailed review of the core and armor later this weekend. Carnifex is drool worthy, and I agree that the price is quite decent for a toy that looks to have quality while transforming into a bot that is about the same size as a Maketoys' combiner. I am not usually fond of larger releases, especially since Takara has whiffed easy home runs (IMO) with MP Magnus and Star Saber, but I'm thinking of making another exception. It helps that I have MMC's Hexatron too, which is another Reformatted bot that stands tall and was executed wonderfully.- 9128 replies

I'm not bothered by the screws. But as it is, I find myself agreeing more with treatment as time goes by. The bright white is making me wish this was actually a TV release of Roy with TV-style parts. And with so much going on with Macross at the moment, it's interesting that Arcadia is choosing to play it safe instead of surprising customers with rare releases or paint schemes. I dunno. I'm going to have to put some extra thought into where I'll be spending my money this summer.

Evolution Toy - VF-2SS Valkyrie I 《MACROSS II ~LOVERS AGAIN~

Those are stickers? That's really creative. Sweet job, tomac66. I really like how the double stripe adds depth in your photos. It does makes the mold come alive. -

Haha! Spanner's right. It's easier if you lower your expectations on this one. I followed the instructions that 505thAirborne posted to the thread earlier, but used future instead of nail polish. He posted some pictures. Here's the link: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=42438&p=1258790 I didn't have to use extra coats of polish. I followed the initial instructions and everything turned out okay. Before the fix, the legs on my copy were popping off with the slightest pressure. After the fix, they stay in place. Each copy is different, though. If it's your first time doing a fix like this, pace yourself. I recommend to take it slowly and test the fit after the first application dries before adding any extra coats. I found that the fix does improve the silhouette from certain angles. But it doesn't really help with the look of the undercarriage. It's too bad that isn't as clean as it could be. Maybe the super parts will help, but I'm taking a wait and see approach with that. -

^LoL. The model's expression in that photo is perfect. -
Maybe. I think it's great for those who missed the first release and now have the opportunity to pick up Kei's Orguss. If you can swing the price, though, I think both will be worth having. I'm lucky that I already have Kei's so I don't have to work out a plan on buying both back to back now.

I'm in awe given the size of these, and that they can pull off most of the transformation steps found in the larger Yamato/Ardacia Valkyries. I'll be picking and choosing from this line, but it's going to be tough not to go full Pokemon and collect them all. My Hikaru 1S has some iffy stripes on the chest, and that needs attention and clean up work which I'll do when I have a spare moment on the weekend. My Roy is in great shape. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with that one.
-
Yeah, it's easier to spy the trimmed down stickers on the dark colored super parts. For me it's certainly a niggle, but not a cause for panic. I do wish Arcadia would experiment with Tampo printing more like Yamato did. Bandai beats them in this regard by leaps and bounds.
-
It's the Arcadia VF-1S Roy Focker Special Movie Magical Mystery Version. Arcadia decided that the best way to compete with Bandai's SWS printing error was to package each new Valkyrie with a rare missing piece.
-
I don't have much to complain about. On the one hand, NY can't control how Bandai packages its exclusive Tamashii items. But I do agree that things might have gone more smoothly if NY didn't ask for shipping to be included with the Valkyrie when asking for our initial payments. In this case doing so seems to have created more work for them and more frustration for customers. Personally, I wouldn't have mentioned my shipping blip at all if I had been able to send a single payment for only the Valkyrie up front and then a second payment later on to cover all my shipping costs.

The grey background photo was direct from Arcadia, right? Posted a few pages back? I think the hobby-maniax photo just left out that piece by accident. I mean, going by their photo, the new 1S includes two Roy gummy pilots!

Having Guttur, I can agree with this. He does take up a lot of space, and he is a tad unwieldy in bot mode. I think he could have been improved if Gigapower added in better ratchets to his joints---ones with more teeth, for example. I have the chrome version which includes a couple of fixes, but even this version is lacking in what it could do if the joints were improved for enhanced posability. He can pull off the MP-22 Ultra Magnus A-stance very well, though. I've been really happy with the Planet X dinos, more so than I thought I would be. They are different, especially since I had no reference for them. I didn't start playing the video games until after I bought Planet X's version of Sludge (Neptune).- 9128 replies

Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters May 25, 2018
technoblue replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Heh. It might prove that you can have too much of a good thing. But I'll keep my final judgement in reserve until the movie is out. I do like how Disney is entertaining and executing on in-universe stories like this and Rogue One, myself. Ford? He's been trying to get out of this role since The Empire Strikes Back. Let the guy rest. -

Huh. IMO, the brain damage trope made toon Galvatron more contrived. I think season three did break a lot of rules that were established in the film. Galavtron became a raving lunatic instead of a clever mastermind. Rodimus became a wishy-washy anti-hero who didn't want the matrix instead of Optimus's chosen one. Also, I wasn't a fan of Webworld. To me, the whole curing Galvatron thing, which seems important in the beginning (and could have made for an interesting two-parter), quickly takes a back seat as Galvatron goes on to destroy everything around him. The whole episode was a story about mayhem for mayhem's sake. In the end, it didn't really add anything to Galvatron's character and it didn't really add anything to the main story either. It was poor filler.- 16669 replies

Yeah. I don't mind watching the '86 movie either, even though I think Optimus got a raw deal. Because it's a movie, it had more freedom in characterizing and showing the Decepticons as ruthless. I know that most of the movie scenes would have probably been censored in some fashion during the 1980s afternoon cartoon block. Thinking about that now brings back visions of GI Joe, and the ridiculous lengths thjat show and others went to avoid on-screen "death." How many characters had the awareness and invulnerability of superheros and could jump out of an exploding tank or dodge automatic gunfire from an attack helicopter? Oh well, as a kid I didn't worry about it.- 16669 replies

While in between jobs a few years back, I had a chance to watch the G1 cartoon. I only caught bits and pieces of it as a kid---I was more a fan of the toys. And...I learned an important lesson: some memories should stay in the past. Really, for adult me, the old toon doesn't stand up well at all. I may get a lot of superfan hate for that opinion, but the only episodes I can really stomach on nostalgia alone are the first few where everyone gets from Cybertron to Earth. After that... *shivers* Why Takara is chasing the audience that prefers toon accuracy instead of making MP toys that appeal to a wider base is confusing to me, but if it works then more power to them. I'm already buying more 3P releases than official ones. If Takara insists on low detail MP bots that will make it easier for me to go 3P exclusive too.- 16669 replies

I agree with your points, Scyla, vis-a-vis comparing MMC's Backdraft to Takara's Inferno prototype. I like the details built into MMC's version and how they have more nods to the toy. The one thing that makes me ever curious about Takara's official Inferno is the ladder. I want to see how they pull off that part of the design.- 16669 replies
