  1. Oops. The parcel that I picked up today wasn't Hikaru's VF-1. I forgot that I didn't use EMS for this, so it looks like I will continue waiting for mine until sometime next week.
  2. Nice pics! I got a note from the post office yesterday. I need to find some time to pick mine up today.
  3. ^ Wow. HLJ is already at order stop. I think I prefer the smaller SoC scaling, although there is something nostalgic about the DX SoC releases--and Combattler V in particular. It reminds me of the Bandai America Godaikin of yesteryear. The price is up there though and I have a crowded fun budget already, so I'll be settling for the pics this time.
  4. Might as well put a number on the box and call it a day. I would be happy with any hidden number on the figure itself. If Arcadia does what Yamato did with the VF-19 "made in" stamps, adding the number under the wing, then I'll be inclined to remove it as soon as I see it.
  5. It seems to me that the metal siren has a cult following. I would love to see Bandai add it as part of the HM-R line of toys. Maybe if they release the HM-R VF-2SS, they can visit the metal siren's design.
  6. How is printing a number on the official Valkyrie going to stop the KO factory from adding a number to their version? I would much rather have a number on the packaging or some fancy plaque, if these are truly limited. Anyway, I'll remove the stamp from my copy if it is conspicuous. I don't plan on selling my M&Ms this time. Edit: I see this discussion has moved over to the grey market thread here:
  7. You make a good point, myk. I decided to watch Prometheus today and it wasn't half bad. In fact, I enjoyed it. There was more mythology intertwined into the story, as other members have noted, and that is different from the sci-fi horror that was Alien. The dopey characters didn't bother me as much while watching on the small screen. I had an easier time getting into it all, and I do enjoy how David is characterized in Prometheus with more of a subtle bent to his darker machinations. Anyway, I guess that means I'll be picking up Covenant on blu-ray to give it the same second chance.
  8. What is cute, is in the eye of the beholder methinks. Anyway, I think MegaHouse should have gone full steam ahead and released all the Yamato Guys that they teased. They had Kodai, Desler, Wolf Frakken... I also wish they had released a certain iconic female charcater: Starsha. It wouldn't have been difficult to release the main 2199 cast while also releasing the beautiful pin-up Yamato Girls that they did. Just another missed opportunity, I guess. I hope we get more variety with the S.H. Figuarts releases.

The Tomahawk's color doesn't bother me. It reminds me of wet clay. I've been trying to limit myself to one destroid each, but Bandai keeps giving me and excuse to pick up two.
  10. It is a well done sculpt, and I'm glad they went with a subtle smile for the prototype reveal. I'm looking forward to seeing the other expressions as more information comes out.
  11. Sweet! I like her lunar base flightsuit. It reminds me of that limited edition MegaHouse release. The one that Saburo posted pictures of a while back.
  12. Fan Toy's version of Arcee looks very smart to me. I've been avoiding the kerfuffle over her on tfw, though. It speaks a lot to overthinking the small stuff. Would it be nice to have Fans Toys make more parts on the toy square and robotic? Perhaps. I do think the look they went with, where it is predominantly G1, is also mixing in a modern look, and that's okay. Personally, I'm more interested in seeing if there is a waist swivel that works, and how well the toy will stand with those folded up car parts in bot mode.
  13. I rank Planet X right up there with MMC and Maketoys. Yeah, they only have a couple releases that I would consider as having good articulation and none of the releases match Maketoys on the hyper-articulation "Iron Man" scale. Of course, I love the Cybertronian look and if some future figure appears that can look the part and pose like a super hero, then I won't complain at all. The downside is the pre-order price. I find myself waiting for Planet X sales these days. Of the ones that I own now, Jupiter is a favorite. Vulcan is also up there, as is Quirinus. I don't have any issues transforming these guys back and forth or getting the accessories to fit together where they should, but I have run into my fair share of fiddly Planet X figures so I understand that complaint. For me, Asclepius and Summanus are two fiddly pieces that stand out. A fiddly transformation isn't a deal breaker for me, though.
  14. Yep. Attack on Titan has beem fun too, but I must confess that I lost all willpower and read past the anime.
  15. Yeah. This is going to be a tough decision with Takara adding all of those extra gimmicks. What stands out to me is the face sculpt. It looks awkward on the Takara prototype when compared to my copy of Sunsurge. Usually, Takara is dead on with faces so this is a surprise.
  16. I watched Blame! yesterday without any prior knowledge of the manga. It's fun and I would love to see more--maybe a complete OVA trilogy focusing on other key manga moments. Something along the lines of Mardock Scramble ...
  17. I think each of the movies have characters who should know better, but end up making dumb decisions at critical moments. I think it's necessary to move the story forward. In Alien, you have Dallas who originally agreed to put the whole crew of the Nostromo at risk. Kane who got too curious. Ash who was...well...Ash. In Aliens, you have Burke, you have the colonial marines who were completely unprepared to "rescue" the colonists and who also didn't take Ripley seriously at first. Many mistakes were made. For me, the difference with the mistakes in the original films is that they didn't pull me out of those movies. The characters were established in such a way that the mistakes felt like mistakes they would make under that kind of pressure. I can't say that I got the same feeling from Prometheus. Alien: Covenant did a slightly better job establishing some of its characters, but not all of them, and I was still pulled out of the story at times when someone was acting B-grade horror film dumb.
  18. I would rank the movie higher than both Prometheus and Alien: Resurrection. It has its own WTF moments, yes, but I can forgive most of them. My one criticism is that there was a lot of top-heavy exposition which got in the way of a really suspenseful film.
  19. Arcadia's site says May 2017: http://arcadia.ac/products/detail.php?product_id=241 I expect stock will show up in stores close to the end of the month.
  20. A very good series, and you reminded me that I should get around to watching the sequel too: Ginyoku no Fam (Fam The Silver Wing).
  21. Mm. Although I'm not as torn, I get what your saying. Arcadia would have made a lot of people happy if the premium version was standard. Personally, I would have been fine going with the standard release if Arcadia decided to add a couple of the missing details back in to make things consistent. For instance, the ejection seat warning (which was dropped from Arcadia's first DYRL release) and the rectangle detail on the leg (sticker 42) which has come and gone on various DYRL and TV releases going back to Yamato days. Because these premium releases are adding those details back in as Tampo, along with every other detail on the sticker sheet, I'm looking forward to the final result. If the quality is there, then I'll be content. That's just the price I have to pay for being cursed/nitpicky with this sort of thing. I think people who don't notice, or who don't care about it are lucky because they will save money in the end.
