  1. In my experience buying Yamato or Arcadia has always been a quality lottery of sorts. It's why I'm thankful for that version spreadsheet which notes which of the older Yamato releases are safe. I noticed that Arcadia releases have been added on, so the hardpoint stress/fracture might be an informative point to be aware of w/ the standard Arcadia Max release if it really is common and not just a QC failing from a bad batch. I prefer that kind of info to the debates over personal preference. I mean, it's great to see the fans who have pristine collections, but that is rare too when you pay attention to what is being written. The idea that Yamato releases are somehow superior is simply one side ignoring the other side's evidence to the contrary. Man, deja vu. We already went down this road with the 0D/0A and I'm not going to wear my rose colored glasses again. I was roasted pretty good for being tone deaf to the experience of others then. Having empathy is always better. If we're lucky, maybe Arcadia will stop with the minor adjustments to the old Yamato v2 mold and release their own new VF-1 mold in the next two years. I would think that having/correcting issues would be costly and a new/updated VF-1 mold would be to Arcadia's benefit, but I could be wrong.
  2. You're welcome, dj760. I'm glad Kaki it made it out to you before we got socked with another nor'easter. Crazy weather. Enjoy!
  3. Mm. That's how I finally saw the movie, myself--on Amazon Prime. I didn't get out to see it in the theater, but now I kinda wish I had . IMO, it was fun even with some common Sci-Fi tropes scattered throughout. I'm now curious about the comics, and may pick up a few volumes of the Valerian books to read the story in its original form.
  4. Although it's hard to tell what's going on with the helmet from that angle, the pic is very promising. Thanks! I'll be keeping my eyes open for more news as it gets posted. It would be most excellent if it turns out to be a wearable accessory for Rick/Hikaru, and down the line KC ends up doing the same for any other pilots they release.
  5. I know it's Rick/Hikaru's flight suit and not his dress uniform, but if KC made the following enhancements to the prototype my skepticism would wash away. Make the belt a floating, soft piece. Use this piece to conceal a waist joint. Give Rick an extra face or head, similar to what they've done for Minmay. It would be really neat if they gave him interchangeable heads--the one shown and one wearing his fighter helmet. Make sure the joints are posable enough so that Rick can take a seat. That is the minimum posability that I could wish for from something like this. Having the illusion that Rick is strapped in the VF-1 cockpit would be super cool.
  6. It's a nice prototype. I hope the final version adds some waist articulation and toe bends, and I'm curious about how those hips will work. I would like to be able to do more than just a static standing pose, if I were to buy into this line. Also: Fully possible articulation? High guality decoration? Someone forgot to read/edit the brochure.
  7. Man, I forget where I saw the link but someone posted the March 1 pre-orders from the Tamashii site. I think that's how I found out, and then I just couldn't stay awake so I was pretty stoked when the pre-orders were still up early this afternoon. I don't know if that's due to it being a Robot Damashii or what. I've also noticed that HM-R pre-orders can hang open a day or two if they are not Macross/Macross main characters. Anyway, happy to get the word out. These labors are fun.
  8. It's off topic for this thread, but a certain company known for giga-normous dinobots hinted at doing MP skylynx.
  9. Indeed. And if you're not hooked on scale, there are even more - the SD style and WFC/FOC style releases come to mind.
  10. I decided to sleep instead of giving into pre-order madness last night, but I was happy to find that the Griffon went up for pre-order. Did anyone else here pick it up? I did on my lunch break. LoL. It seems to be flying under the radar. The marketing shots don't show a layout of included parts, but it has a nice damaged Ingram 2 head as a bonus, which is pretty neat.
  11. It's just a different way of printing the logos. The toon-style logos lean more toward animation accuracy with softer edges and squashed proportions which match the G1 cartoon—for me, it's more obvious with the Decepticon logo. The toy-style logos have finer edges and elongated proportions that match the decals that were on the G1 toys. IIRC, Takara was using toy-accurate printing for the Autobot/Decepticon logos until MP Shockwave was released. Shockwave includes a decal sheet containing both toy-style and animation-style decals. Inferno and Grapple offered both toy-style and animation-style with the front grille gimmick (but Inferno also had a decal sheet). MP Megatron and MP Sunstreaker were the first MPs to use anime logos only with no toy logo option. And to mosey on back to prowl, here's a good comparison of his original MP to the plus version from Cheem on TFW. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/masterpiece-prowl-animation-version.1142211/page-8#post-15504141
  12. Comparing the old stock MP-17 photos to the new 17+ photos, it looks like Takara has reduced the Tampo printing on the doors and has changed the color of the tinted windows and the headlamps. The Autobot symbol might be the larger toon-style symbol too. Not enough going on here for me to make the switch.
  13. Indeed. It's a talent of precision, which was what I was alluding to in my post above. I'm thinking it would be fun to compare Noel's water slide DIY Hikaru custom next to Arcadia's premium Hikaru 1S and note the variances. Looking at my premium Hikaru, the ones that pop out are the different "no step" markings, the added markings on the backpack sections in fighter mode, and those near the hardpoints. It certainly does show that there is room to kick the detail up a notch, even on Arcadia's premium valks.
  14. Marvelous work, Noel. I wish I had the time and talent.
  15. I'm still on board. The "We're all fine" quip was fun, and it was a nice nod to Ford's ad lib detention bloc delivery in A New Hope. Honestly, even though Alden Ehrenreich is clearly not a young Harrison Ford, his look as a young Han Solo doesn't bother me. What I'm really curious about is how they will set up Woody Harrelson's character and everything with the Falcon. I'm also excited to see a full compliment of people/aliens manning the ship like in Return of the Jedi when Lando was back at the helm. That's something I've missed with the new sequels TFA and TLJ.

I think @no3Ljm is simply pointing out that MegaHouse is part of the Bandai Namco Holdings Group. http://www.bandainamco.co.jp/grouplink/company.html
  17. Those are massive. And I see you decided to go chrome. I find myself missing that copy of Guttur I sold way back. I'm happy with my FansToys dinos, for sure, but I was thinking of supplementing them with these as well. They are both so unique and I'm really into GP's metallic paint job. The problem is I waited too long, I think. Metallic Grassor is sold out everywhere. I can't even find him on eBay, so hopefully they will reissue him when it's time to release their metallic Graviter.
  18. HaHa! I'm guessing Butt Detective is Assy McGee's couth and well-dressed cousin. Yeah, I admit I watched that silly butt show on Adult Swim back in the day. It had its moments.

The radome does appear to telescope up and down on its post. Maybe the author is describing that feature?
  20. Oh! Good to know, thanks. I thought there was a reason for the wonky time line, but if it can be watched in chronological order then that should be fun too. No worries, and thanks for reporting back. For my part, I thought I was missing something obvious about the US situation.
  21. Is it? I'm unable to find Violet Evergarden on US Amazon or Netflix, and I read that certain territories are not getting simulcast streaming with Japan. I do have Garden of Sinners on my Prime watchlist, though. I've also caught up with some other new-to-me series from previous seasons: Land of the Lustrous Inuyashiki: Last Hero (thanks for the recommendation @Marzan) Food Wars: The Third Plate Knights and Magic
  22. I tend to agree. The second half does get closer to the story, but it doesn't really ever free itself from the crutch of all those shock value elements. Oh well indeed. In other news, I've added Darling in the FranXX to my watch list!
