I'm hoping the new ghost booster is updated to clip into Arcadia's VF-0A/S without stressing any delicate parts. That's the only way I would even consider purchasing the rumored bundle. If they end up using the same mold Yamato did, with no changes, then I will pass on it too.

The VF-0D didn't have a ghost booster, so that much makes sense. This news does raise a bunch of questions, though. Will we get a stand-alone premium Shin VF-0A release like we are getting with the 0S? What about the VF-0A brownie that was teased? I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the VF-0S again just to get the ghost booster, but Shin's 0A is a possibility. It will be tough deciding between this rumored box set and a premium version if both are announced. Whatever we end up getting, though, I hope Arcadia fixes the quality issues in the new batch.

That's a sweet looking White Star @enphily. Is it custom built B5 model kit or is it a prebuilt model?

Huh. I thought people didn't like the face because the paint Maketoys used for it was hard to photograph well. It isn't forgiving poor lighting conditions at all, but it does shine with excellent lighting and presentation. I'm not saying that I would be able to pull off the latter, mind you. I don't even own a proper camera at the moment.- 9128 replies

@Silverstreak brings up a good point. I think more fans are opting out of this due to the head/face sculpt. I like Meteor's face. I would rank it between MP-3 and MP-11 based on sculpt alone. With the head offering a face changing gimmick, I think Meteor has the edge in play-ability too. The unfinished wing look was my biggest nitpick at first, especially when comparing the original prototype pictures to the final pictures. Would I have paid more to get a pair of finished wings? Most assuredly, yes. If Maketoys or some modder ever decides to release an upgrade kit then I'll pick it up. I'll take options whenever they are available.- 9128 replies

I'm guessing Hikaru means the Japanese import, which also had English subtitles. Some of us went that route for the first reboot. I went all in, and it's the reason for my current conundrum with Funimation's US BD release. On that note, the dub is good. I''m not sold on every English voice actor—some characters seem a little off to my ear (like Okita) but I can deal with it. This new dub certainly isn't as jarring as ADV's Macross dub from a number of years back.

Hi, Noel. My order arrived on Thursday. Tracking was acting funny and showing up as pending for me earlier this morning too, but is now showing up with complete details. What's interesting is that my PSE delivery went through New Jersey customs instead of New York, but Stick/Stig arrived with no issues.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters May 25, 2018
technoblue replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don’t know if I want angry rich white guys controlling the narrative and stuffing Star Wars mac and cheese down my throat. Seems too Clockwork Orange to me. Honestly, I don’t mind the changes in Solo. Invariably, some things will work and some things won’t, but I’m not going to avoid future Star Wars films because things are changing. Good grief. -

Good review! Richthofen was just okay for me. I got in on DX9’s first release and my copy had QC issues which did sour my overall taste for him, although the tight/sticking tail peg was not one of them. In my case these two things left me scratching my head: 1) The way the tail fin transforms in bot mode and becomes the sole of each foot. Time will tell, but I’m concerned that the silver paint details will start to rub in this configuration. The good news is that there is an alternate transformation available that puts those tail pieces somewhere else. 2) The tiny clips on the wings. These clips are a real weak point IMO. My copy arrived with one of those clip misshapen/broken out of the box. I was able to work with it all the same, but ugh... that tempered my enthusiasm for him. Anyway, I definitely see how this little guy can be a fun figure if you got a good copy. Me, I’m still waiting for other options.- 9128 replies

I’ve been going through the same thing with two Maketoys figures that I sold, myself, some time ago: Cupola and Ironwill. I ended up re-purchasing them both through Maketoys’ shop. Looking forward to getting my MT Headmasters going again, especially with the recent MTRM-14 not Highbrow announcement.- 9128 replies

For those who have heard, how would you rate the Yamato dubs for 2199 and 2202? For instance, for 2199, is it worth double dipping on the blu-ray discs to get the dub with Funimation's new release? I'm usually drawn to the subtitles first, but I also enjoy a good dub. It's been a while, but dubs that still stand out in my memory are the Ghost in the Shell movies, Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop, Bleach...LoL! I guess i'm dating myself with that list.

Yeah, I'm in for both. Alt mode won me over initially, as I was chatting about with Mike above, but I've quickly warmed up to bot mode too after looking more at the prototype pictures. These will be my + releases. Having more options is good, so I don't mind having these as + duplicates. MP-12 and MP-14 will go with Badcube's Sunsurge, and MP-39 will go with Badcube's new Lambos. Downbeat is fantastic. Thanks for the pic @tekering. The Re:Master and Cross Dimension lines are right up there in my top ten.- 9128 replies

Great review, Mike. To minimize the gap in the hood, you want to take the tiny tabs that are resting on the diecast chest and fold them into the slot that’s underneath them. It’s best not to force those two pieces flush or you will scrape the pink paint off those pieces (I did that, myself, before figuring it out). I also had a sticky rear wheel that bound up my copy of Rouge in alt mode, keeping her from rolling. There are just so many tolerance issues with this...it’s abysmal. Anyway, the rear wheel was binding due to a messy application of white paint or flash (not sure which). I had to cut down the “bump” to smooth things and fix the wheel to get it to roll freely again. Ugh. That said, I’m not happy with how the head and arms just lay flat in alt mode and don’t tab in place. I’ve already noted how the diecast chest peices are a pain and don’t work right on my copy too. The backpack parts were okay for me out of the box, but have been getting loose very quickly as I’ve continued to handle the toy. There are some clever alternate backpack transformations out there, but if just touching this ruins it I don’t know if I’ll be picking mine up again to try them out. I was really surprised by this release. I like FT’s Quakewave and Dibots. Rouge may look good but does not hold up compared the their earlier releases IMO.- 9128 replies

Hooray! I was going to wait for it to come out on blu, but this will do since Funimation is busy at the moment releasing 2199 to disc. Thanks, @Keith!

Macross Collectibles Market Watch - Current Auction/Store SOLD prices
technoblue replied to jvmacross's topic in Toys
Hm. There's something funny about the Roy sale. It shows up as $657.13 in the list of sold items, but when I click on the link it says the sale price was $230.48 which is more in line with what Roy is going for on eBay nowadays. Perhaps the seller was allowing buyers to make offers originally? It looks like that option is no longer available for the last copy... -

Someone must really have been hunting for him.) -
My premium SDF-1 arrived today, and it's fantastic. I took a quick look and didn't notice any missing pieces or obvious defects. I may take some poor man photos later this week. I'm really impressed with From Japan, though. After notifying me of the box damage, they handled the issue professionally. The shipper box was resealed (as I requested), and they put everything into another box, effectively triple boxing the SDF-1 for its international journey. It was packed securely for this second trip and held in place with bubble wrap and a nice vacuum sealed plastic wrap, similar to what I've seen HLJ and Amazon use in the past. EMS cost me 6800 JPY, which included fees and a 500 JPY discount that I had available. The end result is the SDF-1 came in exactly the same condition it was sent. Luckily, it was a superficial dent.

That's disappointing to read. I think SyFy has cancelled almost every show I've watched in recent years: Alphas, Dark Matter, Defiant, and now this. With luck, it will find another port of call. At the very least, I hope season 3 doesn't end like Alphas.
