  1. I think I've only seen Arcadia's VF-0D in that iconic slate-grey blue in photoshop, and after @wm cheng put a ton of time and effort into modifying his copy. Did Arcadia ever display it like that out in the wild? Here's Mr. K working on the protoype (in the VF-0D thread): Mr. K chooses whatever blue is nearby The paint he's using looks pretty close to the final retail color. Scrolling down from that post, Tober shopped the blue to a corrected shade and hue, which is closer to the marketing photos DH shared above. Anyway, if Arcadia ever decides to release an anime accurate 0D using that color palette, I'll buy it again. With luck, it will also come with other fixes like Roy's VF-0S. But yeah, if there's one thing that Arcadia doesn't have to change on the SV-51, it's the paint. I'm hoping they won't rock the boat too much, with regard to the visuals, if we end up getting both Ivanov and Nora.
  2. lol. I caved on the first subscription last season. The cliffhangers forced my hand...at least that’s the excuse I’m sticking to. But yeah, watching Qrow and Ruby in the train battle, and seeing the similarity in form and style was cool. I also enjoyed seeing Weiss continuing to use her semblance in creative ways.
  3. Well...good luck with that. As for She-Ra, the Ben10 jokes are cute and all, but I don't mind her tomboy look. I guess they could have gone for utility and given her a full suit of armour or something less fantastic making her into a Joan of Arc analogue, but that would have changed the costume completely from the original and might have resulted in even more madness. J. Michael Straczynski weighed in on the twitter discussion and gave some thoughts. You can read them here: https://www.themarysue.com/j-michael-straczynski-she-ra-design/ I'm actually glad he did this as a co-creator of the original series. It helps to give some much needed perspective.

Nice. If these VF-4 variants become a reality, I'll buy one of each (probably two of the Focker type). Of course, I'm still expecting a little variety in the Macross HM-R line. Don't forget the other stuff you've teased over the years, Bandai.
  5. So I sat down to watch the first two episodes of volume 6 yesterday. Big skirmishes on the railroad are in, polite awkwardness between Yang and Blake is still a thing, and we have another character introduction, but lets get talking about the second episode, can we? I've hidden the rest inside a spoiler tag (don't look if you haven't watched through episode two).
  6. So have I. Given how Dreamworks knocked it out of the park with Voltron, it would be fun if they can get another solid hit with this show. And I couldn't help but smile seeing the tentacle princess in the second trailer.
  7. Thanks, @mikeszekely. Enjoyed the review. I’m thinking I will pass on this version of Cyclonus and wait to see if another one materializes down the road. I agree that FT did a good job capturing the G1 look, and those IDW gimmicks simply put MMC’s Reformatted version to shame. I wish FT had cut back on some of the diecast. I wasn’t happy with the paint chipping/rubbing on Rouge’s diecast parts and I would be anxious about getting the same issue with this guy. Also, I’m secretly hoping Takara revisits Ultra Magnus some day, like they did with Megatron and are doing with Optimus Prime.
  8. I'm willing to wait for Arcadia and T-Rex to lock down the updated SV-51 and make sure it is rock solid. I had Yamato's SV-51 Nora, which was a time bomb. My copy had bad plastic that just started to crack over time--and that was in addition to the well-known loose joint issues. As for other releases, once we get past the anniversary 1J release, I hope Arcadia will revisit its premium finish Valkyries again. With the DX YF-19, I'm not sure we need a premium finish YF-19 anymore, but I wouldn't mind a premium finish VF-19 of some sort. I would also like to see a premium finish VF-0D, VF-0A, VT-1 Super Ostrich, and maybe even a PF mass production VF-1J.
  9. Thanks, guys. I'm looking forward to reading more. What let me down with Apache wasn't the transformation so much as the points of limited articulation. I've seen a couple video reviews for Quietus, and his articulation looks to be better in bot mode, which is a plus. I am worried about how well all that paint will hold up, though, if the transformation is as complicated as Apache's.
  10. So what's the word on FansToys Quietus over here? I've been reading a number of good reviews on TFW, but then I have read some noteworthy criticisms: another complex FT transformation and one or two instances of paint chipping (not sure if the two are related). The paint chipping sent a shiver up my spine since I had the same problem with Rouge. To be honest, since Rouge, I've been shy around the pre-order button and FansToys products. You guys tend to have a balanced outlook, though, and I like the reviews here. Is Quietus recommended? Any other thoughts? I have Sovereign already, but have been hemming and hawing over whether to sell him and the rest of FT's movie-era bots. I think I've convinced myself to dump the Autobots from that collection, but I'm still thinking about what to do with the Decepticons. What's the verdict?

My fault for posting something abrupt. I wasn't really worried about feelings in this case. I'm used to no3Ljm's posts, and seeing other posts like yours. I was thinking more about fairness and getting things back on track quickly. Anyway, I've sent a PM in case you want to take the discussion offline so as not to clutter things here.

To be fair, if you guys have an issue, you should really report it and contact a mod and have it looked at fairly. It's not up to regular members to moderate threads or interrupt the natural flow of discourse. No offense, but this leads to bias, passive aggression, and just creates bad juju for everyone.

For me, the 31A SNAFU was enough to get me to take a break from NY. Before that fiasco I didn't really have anything horrible happen, just minor frustrations like getting dinged for extra shipping on certain exclusives (Roy's VF-1S HM-R release comes to mind) or receiving items in cut up, resized shipping boxes. The second frustration there being more of a nitpick. When packaged well, resized shipping boxes are perfectly serviceable and it's also a good way to recycle cardboard.

I was able to get two orders in. I wanted to order one at AmiAmi and the other at CDJapan to spread things around, but AmiAmi's site shenanigan's forced me to order both at CDJapan this time out. Seeing the pre-order button lock the site down was so frustrating that I broke out laughing. Anyway, I was glad that AmiAmi finally started working later on and that other members were able to get their orders in there. I guess this is the new normal for pre-order madness.
  15. I finished the first season of Yuru Camp (Laid-Back Camp) last night. It's a very well put together and sublime slice-of-life anime. Being slice-of-life, there is an amount of moe scattered throughout. It wasn't overdone, IMO. However, if you aren't into that at all, you might get frustrated. In any case, this one is easy for me to recommend. A second season and an OVA are planned from what I hear (yay!), so I'm looking forward to more camp-time stories.

I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm, although I hope that the VF-4 Lighting III reveal means that Bandai does have something special planned for Macross and HM-R next year. I'm very curious about which figures were blurred out in the photographs, for instance.
  17. I liked Iron Fist and Luke Cage. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say this has more to do with the Netflix/Disney contract coming to an end. If the shows continue in some way on the Disney streaming channel, then I wonder if the writers/producers will have as much creative freedom to do what they want with the characters or if they will be asked to reign it in? I agree that the creativity offered some very interesting moments in Netflix land, but it took a while to get to that payoff too.
  18. I think the animation team is doing all right given the circumstances. I won't argue that there was a definite drop in quality after losing Monty, though, because that much was evident and it was unfortunate. Moving to a new software package to do the 3D rendering also added its own learning curve; however, season 5 shows a noticeable improvement over season 4. I'm hoping season 6 shows more forward progress in that regard.
  19. After watching that clip, all I have to say is this: 1) I need to have myself another Doctor Who marathon soon. 2) The new series has come a long way, even from those early days with Eccleston and Tennant in the title role.
  20. I could have sworn it was a classic series gag that NuWho was referencing, but I went back to check Spearhead from Space after reading your comment, and sure enough Pertwee only comments on the flexibility of his face and his eyebrows. Perhaps it's the Mandela Effect popping up in my old age, or maybe there was some other special that I was watching and mis-remembering. Oh well... Curiously, Liz Shaw (Caroline John) is a redhead. I think the issue I'm mis-remembering is that Caroline and Jon Pertwee had something of a rough relationship behind the camera. That was noted in one of the bonus commentaries on the DVD or Blu-ray.
  21. I believe Matt Smith was channeling the third Doctor, Jon Pertwee with the "ginger" comments. I think that's where the gag began, so I don't hold it against Smith so much (or anyone playing the titular role for referencing it). If anyone should be knocked for overusing Classic Who gags, it's Moffat, although one could argue that is a hallmark of his era. I'm actually relieved that Chibnall is trying to do something different, at least for the time being. As for Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, she did very well and I'm excited to see more. I thought hers was one of the better post-regeneration episodes that I've seen in a while. She played both sides of the confused Timelord who's transitioning personalities in a believable way--at least it came across that way to me. I also really like that we have the Doctor traveling with a sizable group of companions again. My niece, who happens to be a big Matt Smith fan, was surprisingly skeptical about this new Doctor at first, but she gave her a chance and came away with a rather positive impression too.
  22. I just started My Hero Academia, if you can believe it. I have no idea why this didn't bubble to the top a year ago, but I'm enjoying it now all the same.
  23. Quoted for emphasis. I started watching RWBY Chibi later, but fell head over heals for it as much as I did the main show.
  24. IIRC, in Clone Wars, the Prime Minister of Mandalore denounced Jango Fett to Obi Wan which was rather interesting and explained (at least to me) why Jango went out of his way to procure a "clone" son in Boba Fett. Anyway, I thought that Clone Wars and Rebels did well to grow the seeds that KOTOR spread and create a more established Mandalore and Mandalorian culture. I am very curious to see what direction this web series takes.
