  1. Mm, I really like the clean look—more than I thought I would—but I think I’m going to wait for the reviews on this one befoe making a go/no go on placing an order. It would also be cool if Arcadia, at some point, posts a blog update summarizing the work they’ve done on this iteration of the SV-51.
  2. My wallet will hate me, but if Arcadia is stepping up the ‘finish’ for the 0D then I’m in too. That looks marvelous to me and I hope it translates well to production. HaHa! This year is officially expensive.
  3. It looks like nippon-yasan has the best price at the moment, if you are okay with paying a sizable markup (and dealing with their shaky customer service). Otherwise, I would wait for that rumored regular release of the 1J. Maybe there will be news this weekend? Oh I hope they don't go down that road. Bandai started off so well with Hikaru's 1J and I agree that more TV releases would be fantastic. Roy's TV flight suit for the win! Of course, if we get Hikaru's 1S all bets are off.
  4. Sad to say, I can see pricing estimates of 40000 to 50000 JPY being realistic for this release. Anything less and I’ll be surprised (and very happy). Arcadia, like Takara, is not bashful about placing a price premium on their stuff.
  5. If the next DX VF-1 announcement is a 1S, will it be a Hikaru 1S or a Roy 1S?
  6. Thanks for the Azalea review, @mikeszekely. My copy is slowly making its way to me from PSX, and the good reception will make it worth the wait I think. I also have the stealth version to keep my interest in the meantime so not a big deal. But, oh boy, I have a different subjective opinion about FT Rouge when comparing the two. Fans Toys’ version ultimately triggered my uncanny valley response. I really wasn’t a fan of the super-model-doll-as-a-bot look. Looking back, I think the only mode that Fans Toys got ‘right’ is Rouge’s alt mode. The future car is nice, and I like the detailing with the seats, the console, the lights on the front and back of the car, even the antenna is nice. But bot mode looks off—both proportionally and in the design of her character features. For me, the fact that Rouge came packaged with chest gimmicks was ultimately the most frustrating thing. 1) I wish she had been done up in G1 mode out of the box with the option to step up to that more realistic look. 2) Since Fans Toys insisted on doing it the other way around, and not going G1 standard, they should have at least made the chest swap simple and the pieces made of a material that wouldn’t get damaged so easily. The face sculpt and the hands were another let down (as hinted to above), which unfortunately isn’t anything new from FT. I would have liked Rouge’s face to have more well-defined robot features. Instead, Fans Toys gave us a number of soft tone doll faces, an okay visor face, and a flip-top robot hat. Add to that the unfortunate paint chipping and lack of waist articulation and the whole package just couldn’t live up to the hype in my case. I’m happy MMC’s Ocular Max team gave us a replacement that has other compromises which make more sense (at least, they do to me).

I was focusing more on the 1S types, but yeah noel...you are right to point out that the 1A would be just as easy to finish off with HMR repaints. It would help with the cost of collecting too. Some of the original Hi Metals fetch a pretty penny these days. And of course I love Kakizaki. I think I connect more with his poor TV self who never got to finish that steak. There was just more time to set up his character as the odd duck of Vermillion team and his death scene was more drawn out and dramatic too. So many feels in episode 20 of SDF TV, whereas in DYRL his goodbye is a blink and you'll miss it moment.

Finishing the HMR 1S Valkyries should be easy. All we need is two: Roy's TV 1S (which should include both Roy and Hikaru TV pilots, and the TV fast packs) Max's 1S (which should round out the DYRL leaders) Please, Bandai/Arcadia/Somebody, don't forget Max.
  9. The anime was okay. I still have to sit down and watch the movie. I don't think the two leads are supposed to be likable, per se, since their odd behavior adds to the show's unique comedy: giving two anti-social sibling shut-ins an opportunity to play out their gaming fantasy in an alternate universe (and challenge super-natural beings). I don't know if a second season is planned, if the writers intend to continue to push the show's particular deceit, or if they will start dismantling it once more powerful opponents take the stage. Anyway, the one criticism I have of the show is this: it makes rules for their behavior up front and then makes it too easy for the two main characters to get over those rules once they are transported to the fantasy realm. It doesn't really make much sense for them to have it as easy as they do, if you start to think about the psychology of their condition, but I'm not the one making the rules.

Thanks for the complete list, @treatment. I missed one Macross and one non-Macross when doing my count earlier, and I forgot that the Dougram itself was rereleased.
  11. Wow! Skyfire does look nice. I'm falling behind on Siege. I should pick up a couple of the current wave and see how they feel in hand. I did like the look of Ultra Magnus.
  12. I remember being bit by this very same thing after pre-ordering the Alto YF-29 reissue at HLJ. What a discouraging mess that was... History repeats itself, it seems.
  13. And here’s another like to offset the anon downvote. Indeed. The blue Soltic does a better job of catching the eye than that tiny print. At least, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Not counting the blu-ray release of Technopolis, which included a reissue of HMR Techno Blader, I think the non-Macross HMR releases now account for seven HMR slots after the recent Dougram news. Macross has had 21 HMR slots, a ratio of 3-to-1, with Roy’s 1S having a reissue. Given those numbers, I’m okay with sharing. There may be a reason why Bandai isn’t opening the Macross floodgates and milking different paint schemes every chance they can get. But they could—most definitely. We could see the mass production 1J, any number of 1A schemes, Max’s 1S, the remaining destroids, other Valkyrie moulds, other enemy mecha...who knows? Anyway, I don’t mind them mixing things up and keeping it interesting.
  15. Indeed it is. Thank you for the clarification, noel!
  16. I need new glasses. I completely missed the February 15 pre-order date the first time I looked at that image. But @treatment noted that the blue one is a regular release... So is it a regular pre-order or a TWE shop exclusive like the green one?
  17. Yeah. The TFW forums are melting down over this. I'm not sure what to make of it. I guess I'm a little stunned. I do like the idea of having official MP-scale minibots. I'm just not sure if I need or even want Bumblebee first, because I've been enjoying MP-21 in yellow, red, and gold. It would have been more exciting for me to read about Takara making this change while giving us a brand new MP minibot announcement, and then teasing Bumblebee for later in the year or next year. But that isn't to say that I'm not curious. I'm very curious and I'm looking forward to the images of the prototype that are released. Maybe we'll see some over the weekend? I also hope that this doesn't delay MP Hound too much (or put off any other nifty official MP announcements). Third parties like MMC, Planet-X, MakeToys, and MasterMade are covering other aesthetic interests so I don't mind Takara's toon leanings these days.
  18. I would welcome multiple premium finish announcements, if Arcadia were to be so bold later this week. If the VT-1 is announced, I'll have to shout out a "woot!" or two. Same if Max's 1A or 1S are announced, or the VF-0D...All are long shots, I think...
  19. Yeah, the panel lining isn't too my taste either, but I'm also hoping that a lot of what I'm subjectively objecting to in photos is a result of the camera's forced perspective and that it will look better up close when I have a copy in hand. The limited articulation in gerwalk/guardian is more of a bummer when I think more about the known issues, and I hope some of that shakes out and is improved for subsequent Valkyrie releases. I'm not sure how many of these I'll get if I do end up liking Roy's 1S, but it is worth having at least the one.
  20. Thank you for the review, @jenius. I enjoyed the read. I want to give Roy's 1S and the fast packs a shot, so I'm in on the April release. Will Kitzconcept go two for two and surprise me again like they did with their figure line? I hope so.
  21. I finished season 2 of Stray Dogs this weekend. The flashback episodes were well done, and I got a kick out of the Guild being made up of famous literary figures. Now I’m excited for season 3, which I read will be coming later this year. I will get to Dead Apple, eventually...I think...
  22. I like Basara, but we have multiple iterations of his ride already... What would really sweeten an official DX Kai announcement is if Bandai revealed they also have plans for Ray's VF-17T and Mylene's VF-11 MAXL—to complete the team. That would help set their iteration apart from the competition.
  23. I got through at amiami, with order acknowledgement, although my connection was lagging.
  24. Phew! That's a relief. Thanks for the update. I'l double-check my order status to see if the fix made it in for this order. If not, I'll add the nose and head (again) to my second order. I'm looking forward to building it, although this will be my first complete kit build in quite some time. I'll have to take it slow. I expect to be quite rusty diving back into the deep end like this.
  25. Wow. This thread is an inspiration. Fantastic work, @Xigfrid! So I'm joining the party late, but I've decided to complete a VF-9 kit using multiple orders (two or three should do it). *noobie question alert* I placed my first order over the weekend (which included some parts using Shapeways' grey professional plastic). Today, I got a note about the cockpit parts stating that there was an issue with printing that set using the grey plastic, and that Shapeways may cancel the order in 7 days. What does this mean? Should I re-order those parts using one of the more flexible plastics or is there a different version that I missed? Normally, I do small simple parts runs form Shapeways, so this is the first time I've seen this message. Thanks!
