  1. Got my order in early this morning too. After paying tax (the new normal), the price was a wee bit more than what @Mog said he paid at NY, so I'm not complaining. Also, with any luck, Amazon's pre-order price guarantee will kick in and we will get a humble discount by the time November rolls around.
  2. For me, Max's 1A was the true nightmare. I was up all night and into the morning looking to secure that pre-order (before AJ came through). The only other two Valkyries that I want at this scale are Kakizaki's TV 1A and Roy's 1S. I'm very curious to see if Bandai will give us a TV Roy (which would be brilliant IMO) or if they will ignore that version and release the DYRL type like Arcadia.
  3. CDJ sold out before I could complete checking out. Decided to pay up front with AE, so I'm done. Good luck to those still hunting.
  4. There's also the Voltron plaque. If nothing else, GX-88 will be friendly to all audiences.
  5. I guess I'm an odd one. I think the original film still holds up today, and I'm excited to see how this series will add to its mythos (especially with the Gelflings). The practical effects are almost seamless. It's pretty amazing how close they are. Apart from that, the trailer is rooted with nostalgia: Aughra! Could the fuzzball be Fizzgig? And ending it all with Chamberlain's creepy "whimper" is classic. The end of August should be a treat.
  6. Yay! Official release day confirmation. Catching up with the other thread discussions... I agree with you, M'Kyuun, I wish Lego had updated the legacy NASA "suits" to give us some head articulation along with the fancy printed details (but that's a minor nitpick from my side). My other nitpick, after watching the developer's video over lunch, is that the ascent stage is pretty plain inside. It might be a limitation of the model's scale, but I wish it was truly minfig scale so that we also could show off how things looked inside that half of the lunar lander. But those two things that came to mind are very minor. Overall, I'm really impressed with how this came out and I'm also looking forward to the new gold elements (like Mazinger). I might get a second copy to sacrifice to my DIY/MOC bin.
  7. Oof. I stand corrected. I've been really lucky with my overseas deliveries then. I haven't experienced anything like that. I guess this could be the future, though...for amazon at least.
  8. Yeah, if you care about box quality, amazon is becoming a risky prospect. I've had amazon US deliver smaller collectible items in padded envelops! I'm not a MIB collector, but even that made me pause. I guess I should be happy that I haven't seen that type of questionable customer service from the overseas sites like amazon.co.jp and amazon.co.uk, but the boxes amazon uses worldwide are flimsier than they used to be. I lucked out with my PF VE-1. The shipping box was damaged to the point where DHL had to reinforce it with their yellow inspection tape. Arcadia's box was still secure in the plastic wrap inside, though, and got to me unscathed.
  9. I was reading Ars this morning, and they have more detailed images plus a release date. Per their article, this set will be available June 1. https://arstechnica.com/science/2019/05/recreate-your-own-apollo-11-moon-landing-with-a-new-lego-set/ The brick-built lunar landscape is different compared to the molded classic space tiles, but I think I like the change.
  10. My main focus with this line is to collect vermilion team and Roy's 1S too, so I'm crossing my fingers hoping that Bandai comes through with the rest of the TV liveries. The thing is, though, the pull of the DYRL side is strong with Hikaru's 1S, and I can't deny that it would look sweet in a Hikaru-only display with the smaller scale Arcadia and HMR iterations. And so it goes. I'll be seeing you guys and gals on pre-order night.
  11. There were some oddities with my copy of MS-01 that I couldn't get over, like having uncured paint right out of the box and a missing trailer gimmick. For my collection, MS-01 was in direct competition more with MP-10 than Prime v3, and the fact that it came so close as a perfect replacement but just missed the mark on those two key points bummed me out. Anyway, I'm still in for MP-44. Paint defects on a prototype aren't a new thing for Takara, or any toy company really. I'm not going to throw the book at them for that. I guess time will tell if we have solid paint apps like we did with MP BW Megs or delicate paint apss like with MP G1 Megs.
  12. I think it's safe to say that Bluefin will pick this up at a later date, but you can also keep tabs on the TamashiiUSA Facebook page for an official announcement: https://www.facebook.com/Tamashii.USA/
  13. Don't forget the DX missile set, so you can recreate the penultimate scene from the movie. Bandai isn't pulling any punches for a full DYRL loadout. Hikaru's 1S - 19800 JPY DX Super Strike Parts - 8800 JPY DX MIssile Set - 3996 JPY Premium level achieved. Oy vey!
  14. The added print and paint detail is quite nice, and do I spy additional articulation for the head lasers? Bandai, why dost thou tempt me so? I like TV and DYRL designs equally, so there's no break for my wallet with this news.
  15. Even though I am quite content with Azalea on my MP shelf, this new Arcee doesn't bother me at all. I could see adding this figure to a stylized collection of Transformers. The alt mode is especially spiffy. Hopefully, the reviews are positive.
  16. Thanks, @jvmacross. Your quality report gives me more to chew on.
  17. I was trying to do figures only with KC, but now I have both the 1S and 1J on order too. I guess it's okay to wade in a little deeper, but I really want to see one of these myself in hand before I commit to a full squadron at this scale.
  18. I was reading over on the TFW2005 Lego thread that one of the next releases in the Creator Expert line-up will be the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander (1087 pieces). *swoon* It looks to be a very nice update to the old Lego Discovery 10029 set. Yep, I'm in. https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/the-lego-thread.173890/page-1211#post-16882350

Yeah, Bandai released only the two DYRL-white 1S Valkyries in the HMR line so far. Apart from that, we have the anniversary release. If you want more info, @jenius has a complete and comprehensive review site, which compares HMR to the older HM releases. Hi-Metal R http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=8199 Hi-Metal http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=4000 Personally, I'm very keen on a TV-white version of Roy's ride with both Roy and Hikaru pilot figures included, but I have no idea where that fits into Bandai's schedule. I've become used to waiting.

Are you asking about the Messer 35th Anniversary livery? It isn't horrible; however, as a fantasy scheme with Macross Delta elements it was a miss for me. Also, back when it was announced, I was hoping that Bandai would give us either a Roy TV VF-1S or Max DYRL VF-1S custom so that added to my disappointment. To give context, I ignored Messer's HM-R 1S for a while but eventually picked it up when it went on sale. I will say that it looks better in hand than in the promotional photographs, but aside from the unique paint details and tinted cockpit it's a very basic release. I kind of wish Bandai and/or Arcadia would do something a little more inspired with the special Anniversary Valkyries.

Ah, okay. Seeing the photos I remember that display now. It is an old one. What's cool is that we have official releases of three of the four Valkyries in the front row of that gallery now: the VF-2SS (Silvie AND Nexx), Isamu's YF-19 from Plus, and the Flashback VF-4. I don't remember seeing any close-up, detailed shots of the Valkyries in the second or third rows but...fuzzy memory or I could have just missed the news.

As far as I know, everything is still hush, hush, and rumor. Bandai hasn't given us anything official and nothing has shown up in any of the usual hobby magazines. If attendees were given a sneak peek at the latest Tamashii event, then I must confess, I'm jelly.
  23. Too many other expenses in the pipeline at the moment, so I’ll be joining the wait and see queue this time around. A PF of Nora’s livery will definitely tempt me, though, but I’m terrified of the price tag. On a related note, I guess I better start saving for that PF VF-0D now in case it ever sees the light of day at retail.
  24. I'm watching Fruits Basket and the new season of Stray Dogs...that's about it for the moment.
  25. The pitch sounds very much like 1985's Explorers to me, which I enjoyed (even though the ending was silly). Could be quite interesting to see how they turn the idea into a series under the guise of Star Trek.
