Man, I've been anticipating this one too. I wonder if Bandai will pack the YF-21 with any effects parts? Looking forward to more news.

Ah! I didn't think to connect the dots when Lena and Eve where having their heart to heart. There is more to the cloak and dagger business with Ms. Teschmacher at the end of last season? That makes more sense now. Looking forward to see how that develops, especially given Eve's new situation. When it comes to her research, I do think the SG has been good with showing us how Lena is ethically compromised. Even when she has good intentions, her solutions get the people around her caught up in an even bigger mess. I would like to see the writers further develop what it is that's driving Lena to do questionable things. I agree that it's silly if Kara was that last straw which became Lena's tipping point into supervillainy. The idea that there is some sore of mental illness/breakdown which is feeding into Lena's changing character makes more sense, especially given what happened between her and Lex last season. However, I also think it would be a challenge to do a story on mental illness justice as it can be a sensitive topic. The Hope angle is making me curious too, and yeah it could stand as a neat parallel to J'onn's story.

The idea of streaming one's opinion and bias using computer technology is relatively new, though. Hence my comment. It wasn't really about a literal age group. *sigh* I'm not speaking about entitlement. If you want to wait for reviews and then go see the film, then that's great. You do you. I don't think there is anything wrong with that approach and I'm certainly not pushing for anyone to watch Star Wars or any other popular franchise out of a sense of obligation or completion. Why would I even want to do that? I can only be held accountable for myself. You see, I want to make my own decision too. Where we split is on the need for getting someone else's input. I don't need a critic, social media, or internet rumor to confirm some bias. I want to make up my own mind the day of and experience the event, even if I don't like it when it's all over. On more of a secondary tangent, I also don't need social media to ruin things for me by revealing spoiler points because everyone is hating on some thing that some writer/director/character does that they don't appreciate. Of course, that in itself is related to a beef that I have on social media trends in general; however, it is a topic better saved for another time.

I'm not interested in listening to anything the Borg hive mind of social media influencers have to say about a 2 minute collection of disconnected scenes. What I am interested in is seeing the last of the new trilogy, which I will do come December. Like the original and prequel trilogy, the new trilogy has its faults, but I've enjoyed each new chapter (as well as the side stories, albeit some of those are more popular than others). In any case, for this old fan, I expect The Rise of Skywalker will be fun to watch on the big screen too. So yeah. I'm still not jaded about Star Wars, even though all the new kids with their new toys are trying to get me to think that way.

With Supergirl, I like how they are developing Lena into a mastermind twisted by her good intentions and perceived betrayals. It reminds me of how Lex was written at the beginning of Smallville to some extent. J'onn's tangent with is brother is a little contrived, but not outside of the realm of any other contrived comic book twist and I did enjoy his bit in Monday's episode. I'm holding judgement on other story elements, especially that new CatCo reporter and the new owner--not sure what to make of either of them.

I've been watching Batwoman on CW's streaming site, and I'm really enjoying the show. Things seem to be picking up with episode three too, given that we now have a more identifiable Bat costume like how we saw Ruby Rose dressed for the part in Elseworlds. I was afraid this was going to be a stinker given all the social media outrage, but as someone who is new to Batwoman the slower two-episode introduction to CW's iteration of Kate Kane and her alter ego has been very helpful. If I were to critique one thing, though, it's that I would expect more criminals to be out and about pushing the limits of the city police and the private security force that appears to be trying to take Batman's place. Having Alice be the focus in the early episodes is understandable, but leaves me wanting for more. I guess I need to be patient.

Nice panel lining job! I like how the dark lines help to blend in the stock weathering effects, especially the 'smudge' spots (or whatever those are on the tetra wings out of the box). IMO, it completes the look.- 16670 replies

Hm. This looks more like a new licensing deal which now gives Funimation exclusive streaming rights. So long Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu... I guess it could be related to Big West's actions, but I'm not sure it is any real counterattack to what's happening in other regions. At least, it doesn't jive with the context of what we've seen in the past when HG tries to place a stranglehold on their trademarks. For instance, look at how all the news articles are written. Everything focuses on the Robotech mark rather than Macross. Maybe this is being done on purpose, and we are seeing the beginning of a great Macross/Robotech divorce at work? Or I could be naive. Monday morning quarterbacking the legal stuff isn't my strong suit.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
technoblue replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I watched the first episode of Fate/Grand Order Babylonia. As expected, it takes a different path from the First Order OVA even though both share the same setting. I liked how Shielder (Mash Kyrielight) appears to be less of a fish out of water in this iteration, and her heroic spirit 'half' doesn't seem too happy with what the vestiges of humanity are doing in this universe. I'm watching on Crunchyroll and only have access to the intro episode for now, but this seems to be another scenario where a previous grail war was won by someone unscrupulous. Not much is given away in the flashbacks, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. This early in, though, who knows? I could be way off on my plot speculation. The show is promising a nice mix of new and old heroic spirits which should be fun. -

Thanks for the detailed review! I'm a sucker for those Cybertronian alt modes. I'm going to poke around and see if I can find the Legends versions. It'll be nice to have the Targetmasters to go along with these three.- 16670 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
technoblue replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I haven't had time to sit down with the new show yet, but I am looking forward to it. Each Fate series has its core tropes, and they do use them well. I'm a fan of seeing popular myths/stories told from different perspectives, which is why I enjoyed Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/Extra Last Encore so much. I thought it was interesting how those two strayed from certain concepts introduced in the original visual novel and the Fate/Stay Night anime too. The fan service isn't something that bothers or frustrates me at all. I guess I'm numb to it. *shrug* -
Going by the title alone I guess, although the article also discusses the 2202 compilation film that is due out next year. I think dropping it here is okay too.

Still have plenty to catch up on, and the fall season looks to be sequel season for me albeit for Dr. Stone which also has my eye. Food Wars Season 4 Psycho Pass 3 (hoping for an upswing after the season 2 dip) Fate/Grand Order (I saw the OVA, so...) High Score Girl 2 -

The alt mode is very nice. I also like the added articulation in the arms, which also impressed Skullface over MP-21. The faces are so-so for me. I understand what Takara is aiming for, but I just cannot get around Bee's new uncanny expressions. The other disappointment is how fidly the new human figures are. I like that they tried to go back to those Diaclone roots with them, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. On the topic of TFW discussions, I know a few MW members post over there, as I normally hang out in the Toyark area. I lurk in the official and third party sections since there are a number of spirited fans who like to argue their positions in both places, and I'm just looking to enjoy my stuff. What really pains me about the MP-45 thread is how many of the 'fans' there who were bashing Skullface's review, were also assuming he didn't know he had a pre-production model--as if he just started reviewing this stuff yesterday.- 16670 replies

Not sure if anyone is working on Orguss stuff, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I would reply to one of the replacement parts topics in the workshop or maybe start over here in the general 3D printing topic and show people which parts you need:

From Nippon-Yasan's Terms and Conditions Page: You may get lucky if you choose to ignore this, but there have been reports on the forum of members who have received account bans just for asking. If you are looking for stores with easy to cancel pre-orders, I would recommend either HLJ or Amazon for future purchases. N-Y doesn't really have that kind of customer support.

You could be right. I don't know how Sentinel markets their projects either. I'm just wishing on a star at this point. Cue the 'why not both?' meme. It would be sweet if we got multiple announcements in the coming months, but to be fair news about the Legioss is already out in the wild so getting a pre-order for that first would make sense. Also, the Legioss is high on my want list too. The last one I owned was a loosey-goosey copy of Toynami's Shadow Alpha. I skipped ET's version of it, so Sentinel has my eye with their release.

You know it. Yellow must be busy with some music gig--can't be arsed to armour up now. It would be cool if Sentinel surprises us with a Houquet pre-order once Yellow's armour finally ships, though. I wonder if that might be too naive?

I had to really think about it, and was happy for the extension which gave me more time to mull it over. I decided to pass too after so much procrastination, space being more of a concern than price in my situation. I’m happy to see it’s getting made, though, and look forward to the photos.- 16670 replies
