Cordon and Spin-out cost more than Sunstreaker, which stinks but is to be expected I guess. At least US shops are asking the same price for both of these Diaclone repaints and Hasbro Pulse is giving a small discount on Spin-out to help ease the pain. Yeah, I dig the Diaclone colors.- 16670 replies

Good eye on the Mobile Bat Base canopy and windscreen, M'Kyuun. Those will be fun parts to have on hand. The minifig selection looks robust for this set too.

The Hedwig buildable figure is tempting. I'm very curious to see how the action features work in person for one thing. The White House looks good too, although I have been trying to stick to the city skyline LEGO Architecture sets. Trafalgar Square, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building almost got me to break that rule. I still might pick those up, actually. Need to ponder, ponder...

Gotta love cheeky character names. I finished watching episodes 11 and 12 last night. Man, there were parts of the final act this season which reminded me of the Laughing Man arc. The ending had me half yelling, half laughing at the screen. It was an incredible ride and now I feel compelled to revisit the older series and OVAs. I love it when a series pulls me back into its lore.

I sent them a message asking to upgrade shipping too, but I figure I missed the window. For now, I'm sitting tight. The main office is closed for Golden Week (aka Stay Home Week--thanks 2020). We will likely get our replies when people are allowed to go back to work, which should be May 7 or May 8 if N-Y's message is accurate. I'm thinking worst case, though, and wouldn't be surprised if I don't get a reply before that weekend or Monday, May 11.

LoL. IMO, that scene did carry on longer than it needed to. It made sense, yes, but like so much modern storytelling it fails in that it keeps hammering an obvious plot idea to the point of making it ridiculous. I think they could have figured some other way to give the audience just enough information to let us know that Patrick Huge wasn't what he appeared to be. When the action started, it would have been better if they fixed the layout of the room so that Huge had an easier exit when the Major's team started to get the upper hand.

I'm going to say, yes. The events at the end of SAC 2nd GiG do play into this series (that is, what happened to Section 9 and where Aramaki ends up).

Just one episode in so far, but I think it's starting out strong with an interesting story. The trick will be if you can look beyond the character styling and (of course) the CG. I should note up front that I was a fan of the 2004 and 2007 Appleseed movies which also used a bucket load of CG, so there's that. Kusanagi's character model is different, which was expected. Togusa is slightly different too, but that was probably done to show the passage of time. I think Aramaki's hair looks kind of goofy in CG. I definitely have a preference for his hand-drawn look, but it isn't a deal breaker for me and doesn't get in the way of anything.

Those are fantastic, and I like the underwater sets that were teased too.

Yes! Getting a new classic space minifig pack would have been so much better. I really enjoyed what they did with Benny's Space Squad pack, mixing the traditional minifig colors with the new pink one. I wish LEGO had given us a second pack too. For the second pack they could have used one standard fig (black, red, even a non-Benny blue) while using new colors for the rest. Getting a second team that included orange, purple, grey, or --ah, what could have been! I also would have have been down with LEGO revisiting the Futuron minifigs. Getting color updates to those little guys would have been a fun change up as well. $40 is steep for a single minifig. With luck, that amazon price might adjust downward as we inch closer to October. I was born the year LEGO released the first wave of minifigs without arms so I'm thinking the book could be interesting to see how much I remember from my childhood. In any case, I did grow up eyeballing most of these little guys as well in LEGO catalogs and classic ideas books. Also, given how LEGO has been revisiting its older lines in Ideas (classic space, and now pirates), I'm hoping that they might see more mainstream sets. I know it's a fool's hoop, but LEGO Star Wars has also lost it's luster in my collection too. The upside to this is I have a lot of pieces saved away to use for my own creative ends.

If you don't mind me taking a u-turn back to classic space for a moment, I just found out about the orange space man today. LEGO is including this little guy with the new edition of LEGO Minifigure A Visual HIstory which is due out in October. https://www.amazon.com/LEGO®-Minifigure-Visual-History-New/dp/1465497897 I've been on a nostalgia trip with classic space sets, myself lately. Since most of my other hobbies are on pause, I've been picking up some of the old sets that I missed. This week, I received both the FX-Star Patroller and the Cosmic Cruiser sets. They're used, but in very good condition, so I'm psyched to put them together.

Here's another picture. The design was put together for the Star Wars Evolved contest some years back.

True. Lynch used some extreme visuals to show how the Bene Gesserit poison changed the baron. It was shocking to see at first, but I've grown to enjoy it for what it is over time (completely made up). Getting back to Villeneuve's "rhino" comment, who knows? I've decided to read it as him being excited about how intimidating Skarsgård looks in character with all his prosthetics attached. Since the whole idea of what the Bene Gesserit Mother did to the Baron is a plot point, as well as an important character point in the first book, it would be jarring if they tweak that background too much. And since he then goes on to describe the baron as a predator, I'm still hoping for the best.

Not fussed at all about the casting choices, myself, even Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Harkonnen. I don't think he's far off the mark, although his interpretation could be quite different from Kenneth McMillan's interpretation. The two actors certainly look different physically, but that doesn't mean a whole lot in the age of CG. What I'm more curious about are the tweaks to Jessica's character, since this sort of aligns to how I've imagined her and the Bene Gesserit in my own reading of Dune. Lynch's portrayal wasn't horrible, but seemed too reserved in retrospect given how the sect was described in Herbert's books. I'm hoping we see them used more as weapons this time around--scheming assassins intent on pushing a very specific agenda that's cast in their religious propaganda. The photos in the article are very cool. Love the look of the stillsuit.

HaHa! No worries. I thought you may have some insight to Arcadia shuffling things around this year, which would have been a first from them. As I noted above, we are living in interesting times and so much has been turned sideways. As for our own crystal ball predictions, I'm hoping @jenius ends up having the most accurate reading this time. It would be nice if the FB VF-4 is somehow able to fit into the 2020 schedule with only Nora pushed into 2021. I also hope Arcadia is still working on the VT-1 that was teased that one time. Where Nora is a maybe for me, the FB VF-4 and VT-1 reissue will be day one pre-orders.
-
Curious. I would be interested in your source. My understanding is that the PF VF-0D is not cancelled and is only delayed until things start to ease up with the lock downs and shipping delays. I do not recall an instance where Arcadia has ever preempted an existing pre-order that is "coming soon" with a completely different pre-order scheduled at some later date, but these are interesting times. My thoughts are that if this drags on, then the schedule will continue to get pushed out and the pre-orders for the Flashback VF-4 and Nora's SV-51 may slip into 2021. That's a glass half full view, of course. We could see a complete SNAFU where many of these cool projects are silently taken off the table (like the Mass Pro VF-0A).

Love my Arcadia GBP set. Happy to see a new generation of MW collectors will also get a chance to enjoy it. Yamato's GBP set with the missile effect parts is sweet. I don't know if there is an easy way to package all those parts, the armour parts, and the 1J Valkyrie with the current GBP packaging but I would be so in for another (more so a PF version) if Arcadia decided to package it all together. The missile effect parts set from Yamato also has a lot of Tampo printing on the armour. I would be curious to see if Arcadia would change that up somehow. Some shading or weathering effects could be fun.

IMO, N-Y deserves all the flak they get. I sat quiet during the VF-31A fiasco like a good consumer and didn't speak out. I sat quiet when those of us who pre-ordered 1st run DX Super/Strike Parts at N-Y almost a year ago were given the 2nd run "delay" whammy. White knighting the store (any store) seems plain silly to me and gas lighting the experience of other members seems misplaced. For my part, I don't doubt other people here have had good luck in avoiding N-Y service issues. That doesn't mean they don't exist. And I have months and months of order delays on record that show they do exist. It's one of the reasons why I didn't buy my PF VF-0D from them, and it's one of the reasons why my DX Super/Strike Parts order is my last order with them. Anyway, just my two bits.

If we're judging solely on looks, then yeah, it's different when comparing it to the CGI that they used for the "Inner Universe" opening from GitS SAC (2002). The CGI isn't a deal breaker for me, though. I like the style. I read that a new artist from Russia is working on the character designs this time (Ilya Kuvshinov). That's got to be an awesome opportunity to get that kind of exposure. As for the story, I don't have much to say on that after watching a short teaser but I noticed that Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama are working together directing so I'm hopeful. Definitely looking forward to the late April release for this one. Will be fun to see Section 9 at it again.

Yeah, it would be unfortunate to come so close with TV releases and then drop the ball. I'm hopeful that Bandai will complete the TV team and give us Roy/HIkaru's TV Skull 001 as well. Granted, waiting would be easier if Bandai gave us a hint. Oh well. Not that I'm against the DRYL Valkyries. I understood Bandai would go down this path eventually and I think having them out there in the wild is a boon for those who are just getting into the Macross hobby. It's exciting stuff. Anyway, I've decided to limit myself to Hikaru's DYRL 1S since I'm happy having a complete Yamato/Arcadia DYRL collection. Also, I'm getting old. It's getting difficult to sit through all the crazy pre-order madness. I have to pace myself nowadays.

electric indigo and 505thAirborne: Just wanted to pop in and thank you both for pointing out "End of the F***ing World" upthread. I missed this one last year and decided to check it before starting in on "I am not Okay With This." The shorter episode format helps. Wow! The first season is such a fun spin on an accidental Bonnie and Clyde adventure wrapped with modern teenage humor and angst. Finished it last night, and now it's on to season two to see where things go from here. A solid recommend, especially to anyone else who missed the Netflix debut.

It's a shame the initial Blu-ray release of V The Miniseries didn't include a cleaned up copy of the 4:3 broadcast version. That would have been a nice bonus. Apart from that minor business, though, V The Miniseries and The Final Battle are my favorite parts of the story. The 1984 TV series, like the original Battlestar Galactica shows its age. The 2009 TV reboot is improved but has its own issues.

I was a big Linux user back in the day. I ran Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Gentoo. Sad to say, I got complacent (read spoiled) with the usability of Win7 and MacOS at home and let my home Linux machines go over time. At work, I do still use enterprise distros daily by VM: RHEL, SuSE, CentOS. We also use Win10 at the office which is okay but Microsoft could really do better, especially when it comes to vetting their OS updates. In any case, I've been thinking of repurposing one of my Win7 machines back to Linux. Arch Linux gets positive reviews from friends, and I appreciate how it is another minimal/stable install. That's one of the reasons I chose Debian over its close cousin Ubuntu for certain projects on older hardware. A lot will depend on my end goals, though. I'm flip-flopping between using the machine as a NAS or maybe as a hometheater/casual gaming server with Kodi and Steam on Linux. I'm still researching all the available options.
