  1. Ugh. Let's not cherry pick points of debate and gaslight fellow forum members. The main issue isn't about whether disgruntled customers are able or unable to pay for their pre-orders. That's disingenuous. It shows empathy and fairness if one understands that most here on MW probably had the required funds set aside for their pre-orders when the schedule wasn't delayed. The problem is that NY has shown (in multiple instances, mind) that it is willing to delay orders well beyond the advertised shipping date and is then not transparent about why these delays are necessary. Good customer service is about 1) delivering product 2) delivering quality 3) keeping the comms open if things go sideways. The VF-31A was the first wide-spread example of how NY reacted when things went sideways. The DX SSP pack is the second, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn of other isolated examples with a little research. And lest we forget, this happened well before Japan Post added the current list of shipping constraints which it communicated publicly and clearly to all Japanese and International customers!
  2. Chainsword! The Necron Warrior is also nice and creepy, as it should be. It looks like McFarlane will have more options which is always good to see. I'm kind of worried that Bandai's effort may be a one and done thing, meaning that we won't see anymore figures from them or any accessory packs in this fictional universe. But I guess time will tell.
  3. My copy of Metallic Caelus must've been an unfortunate coincidence. No matter. As noted, I'm content with the original. Speaking to this version of Jupiter, I'm thinking for a first timer it's better to have tight joints than loose out of the box. It should be easier to adjust screws or quiet squeaks if they're a nuisance, no?
  4. The metallic weapons, especially that ion blaster, would be nice alt weapons for Charon I think. If this had a lower asking price, I might have also considered it to enhance my original release Jupiter with hodgepodge metallic limbs and accents. But alas... How are the joints on this release? Were they okay out of the box or did they seem loose? The only metallic Planet-X figure that I have on hand is Caelus. Yeah, not a good representative of the line, but the original figure was decent. My metallic copy in comparison is a floppy mess. It reminds me of Summanus before I applied the hip fix.
  5. Indeed. Dark has spun a wonderful tale so far, with season 2 adding so many new questions. Looking forward to see how they complete the story.
  6. Woah! Not sure what to think of the lead actress exiting the show so soon. I was hoping to see her Batwoman finally face off against someone other than Alice for a change. Oh well.
  7. So the upside is that I won't have to wait any longer for my space marines. FedEx dropped off the package today. The downside is that I'm currently too busy with writing projects to unbox them. I did take them out of the shipping carton and everything looks intact. No crush damage or anything obvious which is lucky since GW used a single layer of air packets as padding. Anyway, if I'm able to come up for air in the next day or so, I'll take some photos and post them to the thread with my thoughts.
  8. Before Mike reviewed the Impactor and Roller kits, I was using TFSafari mostly for Matrix Workshop upgrades. I've picked up their kits for Ratchet, Refraktor, Ironhide, and Hot Shot. The quality is very good on all of them, and I'm really keen on how they're all pre-painted. Saves me some work. It's definitely a site that works best if you pick and choose the best fit for your collection. Buying a lot of upgrade kits quickly adds up. Anyway, I agree that TFSafari is a great resource. There are a number of clever kits available if you are looking to add value to a Siege/Earthrise collection.
  9. Leaks of the box for the LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián have been making the rounds today. Here's the speculation thread over on eurobricks: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/175542-42115-lamborghini-speculation-topic/ I do like the wheels and those red brake calipers, and the Technic model does a good job preserving the curves of the real-life super car. It's interesting that the hood has a triangle indent rather than trapezoid indent and I'm curious about how the headlights will come together. Special pieces? Technic framing? The low-res image isn't giving much away on my screen. Will need to see some hi-res pictures before I can think about adding this one to my order list, and then it looks like I will need to save up for it. Rumor is it's going to be expensive.
  10. Yeah, I completely understand where you're coming from. Although most naysayers are complaining about MP-51's physical design on other forums, I decided that really isn't the sticking point for me. It's the odd colors that are much more uncanny in my view. I'll have to think about whether or not I want to pick up the Masterpiece to satisfy my own morbid curiosity. If I do end up picking up a copy, I'll write a review and post it here comparing it to MMC's. Speaking of MMC's, I know it's off-topic but I got my shipping notice for the OX repaint. I'm looking forward to it.
  11. So HasTak is supposed to be releasing three different versions of Arcee this year. One in Cyberverse style, one in Earthrise style, and one in Masterpiece style. I thought I would make a quick and dirty cropped image comparing each. So, seeing them all together like this I have to admit that I'm not too fussed by the engineering on any of them. Large backpacks, parts-forming, and stylized features be damned! What does stand out, though, is the odd choral colors on the Masterpiece figure. It's messing with my eyes.
  12. Me: Cool. Maybe I'll get one of these early Space Marine pre-orders. GW: Here. Hold my Genestealer. Me:
  13. Still waiting on GW to update me on my order as well. No word yet.
  14. Yeah, I understood that. I probably should have taken more time to word my opinion more carefully. The premium quality is certainly one factor, and that's the tl;dr gist to what I wrote above. However, thinking about it more, the mechanical key switches are one stand-out feature above the rest and maybe that's where the name comes from? Anyway, I could be wrong, but that's my reasoning. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. Just musing.
  15. I would argue that one needs to look at the whole keyboard package. The keys are only part of the equation and, as you say, any keyboard could be seen as mechanical if we just look at the mechanisms to satisfy the definition of what's mechanical. A standard keyboard uses flexible membranes with rubber domes to create electrical connections. To actuate the rubber domes, the keys either fit onto plastic sliding mechanism or a scissor mechanism. These mechanisms are usually plastic, meaning that these keyboards are often cheaper than their "mechanical" counterparts. They can be quieter and can also be easier to type on. IMO, these are all potential positives. The negatives are that keys can stick, rubber domes can wear out, and the membrane can be difficult to clean if dust or other funky business settles in under the keys. Something to be aware of I guess. A mechanical keyboard uses a hard PCB with connections soldered to spring-loaded or electro-capacitance switches. The key caps attach to these switches and some keyboards even let you hotswap different switches to find the configuration you're comfortable with. The spring-loaded types that are available include Cherry MX, Cherry knock-offs (like Razer, Kalih, and Logitech Romer-G). For electro-capacitance types, there is Topre, White Alps, and Varmilo (the downside is that these three are all very expensive). Many mechanical keyboards come with a keycap puller, so you can safely remove keycaps from a switch and clean the board underneath if things get funky. You can add custom keycaps to dress up your keyboard if you want to as well. Both standard keyboards and mechanical keyboards offer backlit options now, so they are even in that sense. I do think standard keyboards have the edge on mechanical keyboards for wireless use. Only a few mechanical keyboards support wireless if that's your thing.
  16. Oh! Understood. I completely missed that connection before. As you say, all the keyboards you mentioned should connect over Bluetooth. The MX Keys can also connect to Logitech's wireless USB dongle which gives you another option in case you want to use it with a system that doesn't already have Bluetooth built in. But I would only go that route when you don't have a choice. In my own experience, I've seen how USB dongles can be finicky in certain environments, so it's probably better to use Bluetooth where you can. Another alternative that fits your need for scissor switches and wired/wireless keyboard options is Matias. They are a third-party Apple keyboard manufacturer. Alas, I can't speak to how these feel up close since I haven't used one myself but it does look like they have some backlit options as well. Here is their homepage: https://matias.ca/
  17. HaHa! Touché. Yeah, I prefer the compromises MMC made with their Arcee to make the final figure fun, even though this alt mode is all spiffy and G1. I keep wondering if Takara will do something different with the movie bots but they seem to be of one mind and I'm not really interested in another MP Hot Rod, Ultra Magnus, or even Bee-type design where the alt mode is nice but bot mode looks good only from a few angles. Takara can do better—has done better—so I'll wait for those releases. or whatever comes after Masterpiece.
  18. The MX keys does have illumination. The downside of that keyboard is that it's wireless only. Logitech gives you a cable to recharge it using a USB connection, but that cable won't give you the benefit of a wired keyboard connection which stinks. Even with the price, and the fact that I'm more of a mechanical keyboard user, it would have been easy to recommend as a well-rounded item if that feature had been included. For mechanical keyboards, I will second @TangledThorns recommendation for Red MX keys. If you get a good quality keyboard, you may not even need o-rings with reds. Here's a good example (from youtube): Cherry MX Red Keyboard Test
  19. I do like her alt mode. But alas, I think Arcee is turning out to be like Hot Rod where only that alt mode is looking to be accurate.
  20. Mechanical keyboards reward efficient touch typists. For those keyboard wizards, only blue switches will make any real noise. For the rest of us who bang on our keys with heavy fingers, all mechanical switches have the potential to bottom out and make more noise. I recommend adding rubber o-rings if you want to quiet that down too. Here's a link to some blue o-rings. I use the red ones. They come in different colors and sizes. https://www.amazon.com/Cherry-Rubber-Ring-Switch-Dampeners/dp/B00AZQ2OF8 For a chicklet style keyboard with decent travel, I think Apple makes some of the better full-sized boards (wired and wireless) although you will have to reassign some of the Mac-specific keys if you are not running MacOS. The Logitech MX Keys is also a nice option but this board is wireless only.
  21. N-Y got back to me last Wednesday and I agreed to upgrade shipping from EMS to UPS. It cost an extra $30 US to make the switch which wasn't too outrageous. UPS was able to deliver the package to my door on Monday. I admit it's a relief to finally have my items in hand. If the price for UPS shipping had gone north of $50, I might still be waiting.
  22. The AT-AT is a win for me. A few of the play features make it seem like the LEGO designers were inspired by the plus-sized AT-AT MOC. I'm also tickled by General Veers' new helmet and that we finally have that lower-level hatch for Luke to toss in his thermal detonator. Even though Luke didn't bomb Veers' walker in the movie, it's still a nice addition.
