Phew. I've added it to my wishlist. I'm a fan of the minifig dioramas, and so I'll probably pick up this and the RotJ Final Duel set at some point. I have the AAT set and the 501st set on my wishlist too, and the new AT-AT is already on order at Amazon but that's it for Star Wars this year. The other sets I'm looking forward to are in the Creator, City, and Ninjago lines. +1 on the steep prices. LEGO isn't making this hobby any easier on our wallets, that's for sure. I wish I could say the same, but my purchases have picked up. I'm actually trying to spread things out a bit now so that I'm not overwhelmed with a building backlog. It doesn't help that I'm on sites like Bricklink picking up parts for clever MOCs either. I have most of the parts for the Swordfish II on hand now, and will be putting that together soon. With any luck, it will be a fun Labor Day project to work through in a couple weeks time.

Wait... *looks closer* Red card exclusive!? NOOooo! That's not true! It's impossible!

[Netflix] Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege
technoblue replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I hear you on the printed parts. I picked up one to see it for myself in person too. If it looks the part, I may pick up another. In the WFC space, Dr. Wu is releasing more tapes for Soundwave which is actually pretty cool. Dr. Wu is also making Scraplets, which could fit in with the Quintesson set if you're so inclined. They will definitely go with any TF Prime figures that you may still have kicking around. -

I had to highlight this, because the end result is just so awkward when looking at Ramjet and Dirge in alt mode. I wish they had kept the transformation gimmick intact for the shins, even if it made the proportions slightly off skew for the coneheads in bot mode. Having those panels rest on top of the hip skirt looks incomplete--like they forgot to add a folding panel somewhere. Oh well. I have no experience with the older classics mould, so I'm not sure if it works the same way or not with that design, but after transforming these two for the first time I was truly puzzled by the change. IMO, it just goes to show how bot mode is clearly the star for these Earthrise seekers whereas Siege had a fun balance between bot and alt.- 16670 replies

I was hoping Bug Bite would be a White VW repaint of Bee instead of a Cliffjumper repaint with Bee's head. Oh well, no need to add this one to the WFC collection. Money saved.- 16670 replies

^^Even after all this time, a set with Breetai and Kaki would be a day-one purchase. I guess I still see Macross as the heart of the Hi-Metal R line. The other properties have been fun, but only a few of them have been as engaging. I'm holding onto the hope that Bandai will circle back round again.

So Hasbro's solution to limitless Arcee toys, all having huge backpacks, is to make a new Arcee with a huge hat? I don't know what to say, but I applaud their persistence.- 16670 replies

That’s a funny one. UK and US English used to be more aligned on how to pronounce the letter Z. Today, “proper” UK English uses zed as you point out, which is a derivative of the French and classic Greek and Latin pronunciations. Some people like to say one way or the other is wrong, but I find it more of a language curiosity, myself.

Doubtful. English has so many regional accents and dialects, no matter whether you accept UK or US phonetics as globally representative. One can say to-mei-to and another can say to-maa-to and all that. He’s poking fun at US English, but the UK phonetics should be written kaa-key and not car-key. The “f” for veldt is not unheard of, just uncommon (unless you’ve been to South Africa).

+1 I'm glad someone emphasized this issue. Not having a locking point to fix those hinged pieces into the correct position was a real let down for me too. I needed to fiddle with those pieces constantly to get them in the right place in alt mode. Of course, even if I did all that prep work, a slight breeze or tap could knock them out of position. Since I don't own these anymore, I have to go into my picture archive. Here's one of the better ones: Believe it or not, it took a while to get everything just right on Skycrow here, and looking at the pic again I think the tips of the vertical stabs are still a wee bit off from where they should be. One thing that I hope Takara does right, even though they are using their own hinged mechanism on Starscream's backpack, is to engineer a way to fix all the foldy bits in place in alt mode. A nice bonus would definitely be to hide the hinges on the surface of the F-15. It will be cool to see how it will all work if they can do it.- 16670 replies

Yeah! Great flick, often mistaken as a Ralph Bakshi production. The sound track is choice. The ending sequence in the US version is darker than the original Canadian release from what I understand (not dropping any spoilers). Not sure which version was the director's intended version, although I think the physical release may have included a commentary about it.

I'm a fan of the MP+ releases which lean toward the toy aesthetics. If Takara were to release a yellow-eyed Prime with all those iconic toy stickers done up as Tampo prints, similar to what they did with Megatron's MP-36+ release, I would be all over it. I also understand that it would probably be an exclusive release with an exclusive price, whether it used the older MP-10 or newer MP-44 mold. Still, I find myself truly excited by the idea of a new Starscream mold, even given @tekering's fair points above about other missing figures that deserve priority. I can't help but want to see those prototype shots. The idea that Takara is using the old cartoon (or the animated movie) as their source doesn't bother me at all either. Don't get me wrong, though, I would love for Takara to give us a repaint of Starscream in Diaclone and/or Toy colours. As with Prime, though, I expect it would come at a cost. Moving away from Masterpiece and back to Earthrise, Hasbro lost me on the Modulator gimmick. Beyond that, though, I do find that my excitement for the mainline is also cooling down. Oh well, it is what it is.- 16670 replies

No worries. It's cool. I realized after reading your comment that I really could have helped get the word out by adding the info in a new post to the thread. That will be something that I'll keep in mind for the future.

Quick correction. The DX 1S was a new addition to my sale thread and NOT a price change. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a dm. There are other members selling the Hikaru DX 1S too, and they have listed their own price for it which is a-okay. Price talk is frowned upon here at MW because everyone has different reasons and needs for locking in at a specific number. Thanks for understanding.

Arcadia 1/60 VF-4A ‘Flashback 2012’ Premium Finish & Regular Release
technoblue replied to no3Ljm's topic in Toys
That's pretty cool that FJ let the 10% deposit go through on a few orders. I put my order in a day after the Arcadia web store link went live, and it looks like FJ "fixed" the issue and were correctly requesting full MSRP so no 10% discount for me. FJ is like:HaHa! It's no big deal, though.- 1112 replies

I didn't see anything written as heavy handed with Vanya's character or her side story with Carl, Sissy and Harlan. I agree with @sqidd and think this is one of the few shows that gets the balance right, especially with the time travel and culture shock tropes where people from the future meet up with those in the past and how that can cause ripples to change all sorts of important and unimportant events. It begs the question how much exposure is too much in this situation? Within universe. it shows how a whole commission dedicated to keeping the timeline in check really is THAT important.

Just one member: Gerard Way. Gabriel Bá is the main artist but wasn’t in the band. The band got together in 2001 originally but then spilt in 2013. They all got back together in 2019. The music is alt rock/punk rock, or at least it’s along those lines given what I’ve heard. I should listen to more of it to give a better assessment. Anyway, yeah Dark Horse has been releasing the graphic novels. Most recently in fancy hardcover collectible editions. I’ve been picking these up to see if the graphic novels do things a little differently and maybe get another perspective on the story. The volume 3 hardcover is coming out this fall. The trade paperbacks of all three are already available.

The first reviews of the cancelled LEGO Technic Osprey are out, and it appears to have a design flaw. https://brickset.com/article/52876/review-42113-v-22-osprey I read the article after it was shared by tfcrafter over on tfw2005. It's curious to see how the design of the gearbox is unable to support the power coming from the motor and actually causes structural damage! It's also curios that the LEGO designers were unable to mitigate this issue before production. One would think that we would get some new pieces to create a sound Technic structure or maybe a different motor? Oh well, at least there are a few more points out there clarifying why the set was pulled late and that's good enough for me.
