Indeed. After the end credits there was a very brief teaser and the promise of more episodes in January. Then again, if the time skip rumors are true...

I think the time skip rumors are nonsense. It doesn't fit with how the show has been setting us up time and time again. To go down that road would almost be too cheap. Up until the last episode, I thought Slaine was being characterized as tragic. Now I think the writer's intention may be different... A number of characters seem to have a failing, each progressively more psychological. Inaho is the stereotypical genius with little to no social grace. The Sheldon Cooper or Sherlock Holmes of this show. He does not read people effectively outside of tactical situations (doing so might have allowed him to identify Slaine and Rayet early on, for example). Marito's condition was given to us. We are told that he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and we even get to see why. I don't think that will be a throw away characterization. We've seen how impotent this struggle has made him this season. I think Lieutenant Marito still has an opportunity to be something more in season 2, but that's just IMO. Slaine is suffering from Stockholm syndrome. That's the only explanation for his response to Saazbaum at the end of the last episode. If and when Slaine regains his better senses, he is going to crash hard. I wonder if the writers want to make him a villain?

I followed Saburo's method using the solvent that I picked up today. In order to carefully apply it, I used toothpicks and made sure to add one drop at a time to the smooth face of the adapter, which cut down on my mistakes. In the end, I think Hikaru approves: Once I applied the solvent correctly, the acrylic bonded really fast. I waited about 15 minutes before attaching the adjustable arms. I'm going to let the stand sit over night before adding the weight of a Valkyrie in case there is a cure time. You can also see the 3D printed adapter in the background. That piece fits nice and snug on its own.

Aldnoah continues to walk down the WTF lane. And that's the end of the season too. Well done. -
Thanks. I try to have a good ventilation set up in my work room, but a reminder never hurts. Most of my modeling cements, solvents, and glues are shut tight and locked away when I'm not using them too.

I think it's pretty crummy that the supplier wouldn't work with you. It seems unfair to me, especially if they were showcasing better variances when trying to win your business. For me, it's okay. The 3D pieces are exact, and I am happy with the product. I'll keep sanding/filing to see what I can do with the acrylic adapters. If I can get one or two to work, then I'll post some pictures of them in action.

I found Plastruct Plastic Weld at my local hobby shop, which is Methyl Ethyl Ketone. It was right next to Tenax-7R and came with an applicator. It is also marketed as a plastic solvent cement. For the life of me, though, I cannot get the acrylic adapters to sit flush like the 3D printed ones. Here is a picture showing the source of the wobble I noted earlier: I've been sanding them a bit at a time in the hope that I can tame the lip that I highlighted in red, but I'm in no rush now that the printed versions are giving me a working solution. Knowing myself, I might break something before figuring out how to fix it right. LoL! Oh well. After getting hung up with that this morning, the stands went together pretty quickly. I should have them outfitted with Valkyries soon, and then more pictures...

I like the face gimmick, but I don't know the source. Is there something in the Japanese material? A lot of guys on tfw2005 are saying this looks like the T:Animated version of Wheeljack, but I don't see that likeness at all. It actually doesn't look like any other Wheeljack that I've seen, but if I ignore the lips and the mustache, the closest version is T:Prime Wheeljack. Maybe it is T:Prime Jackie all grown up.- 16669 replies

Hi, charger69! I was stoked about receiving the stand yesterday, and I missed Yeti's original reply too. Here is the link from the other page: Yeti: I may have missed your original tip on this, but does the higher viscosity of this solvent require any extra finesse during application? I can be a little messy when I'm not careful sticking two things together.

I just opened the package that the post office dropped off on my front porch. The packaging is superb. The acrylic parts for each stand are bundled together in baggies, so that you get all the clear parts for one stand together in a zippy pouch. You also have packs for your stand adapters and the various adjustment pieces that you will need. Instructions are included too. My box arrived with my order of four stands. As with SuperSenpai's order half of my acrylic base pivots were very loose when fitting them into the bases. This was so no matter how I oriented them in the slot. The other two acrylic pivot pieces fit better, but will still need glue for a permanent solution if I choose the clear look. However, I really like the look of the 3D printed versions and I may use them on all four stands. The 3D printed versions of this piece are very snug. I fit two of them into two of my bases. They won't be falling out on their own at all. The black color also compliments the other pieces in the kit. Again, big props to CY for going above and beyond with the base pivots. Having the option to choose between one version and the other is most excellent.

Thanks for the extra info, MacrossJunkie! This gives me something to ponder since I'm also struggling with ergonomics. I'm a taller guy at 6'3" with long arms and legs, and getting desks and chairs to fit me right is always a game of constant fiddling. If I'm lucky, I can get my wrists at a comfortable angle for typing (which helps in the office at my day job), but I have to watch out for most arm rests when using normal desks because an average sized seat will nip at my elbows—this can get annoying fast when writing. For me, using a HOTAS at home is another lesson in muscle strain. After a decent sim session my arms are spent with my normal desk. And I have also caught myself using bad posture during intense dogfights. My set up is just too cramped the way it is.- 6749 replies

That is impressive, MacrossJunkie. Does that cockpit do double duty as your regular desktop too or is it specific for simulations? I've been into sims about as long as you, and I started with CH gear and then moved to a Thrustmaster HOTAS. I have a modded Cougar now which I adore and will probably keep as my main controller for all space and flight sims until it falls to pieces. The only problem with my set up is my desk, which is very utilitarian compared to the components I use. At the moment, my favorite simulations are Rise of Flight and FreeSpace 1 and 2, which I'm playing again using the mods over at Hard Light Productions. It's funny. I still have to finish my FreeSpace 2 campaign. And now for something completely different... Is anyone still following Alien Isolation? Blues News posted this press release: http://www.bluesnews.com/s/155057/alien-isolation-survivor-mode-dlc-plans Extra DLC was expected by critics of the game, but getting it so soon is something of a concern for me. This has gone from a must-have preorder to a wait and see Steam sale purchase.- 6749 replies

Bee!! From what I've seen of Transformers Victory, Star Saber is accurate. I guess he may be disappointing if one prefers his revised IDW look (been doing more research). Personally, I wasn't sure about the whole figure at first, but I do think Saber is groovy in his alt mode. The latest color shots sealed the deal on that opinion. Since the V-Star is like power armor for Saber, I can look past some of the goofiness there. Ultra Magnus also has goofy stray bits attached, but these are Transformers. There are always peek-a-boo parts to be found somewhere.- 16669 replies

Star Saber isn't the first strange transformer space ship in recent history to have a peek-a-boo head on top. But I'm surprised at how much Star Saber is growing on me. Is he still coming out in March? There's been a lot of press lately and he looks ready to go. In comparison, I have heard almost no news on Ultra Magnus. Perhaps that has more to do with the fact the MP-24 won the popular vote?- 16669 replies

I don't have much to say about SAO2 that hasn't already been said. This week was just a lazy episode. I think Kirito and Sinon's scenes were altogether unnecessary, repeating information that is known or implied from earlier episodes. I wish the writers had placed the primary focus on Asuna and Kirito's friends outside of GGO. I found that part of the story more interesting. Oh well. Aldnoah ended in a manner that I did not expect, but I missed Slaine this episode. I think he had only one spoken line. Akame Ga Kill was fun, and my favorite of the new shows this week. -

^^ Sorry about that, Brooklynwolf. I felt the same way about the behind-the-scenes notes on the other forum. And then the early sketches that are included without the transformation gimmick got my imagination running wild on what could have been done. My hope is that Takara will release a toy accurate version of Diaclone Powered Convoy later on. -

I'm moving this over here to where more 'formers fans will see it (thanks to SydneyY and the members of tfw2005): http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/982723-masterpiece-ultra-magnus-prototype-529.html#post11592127 The UM section of the translated MP Guide Book was a good read, but some of it was tough to read for me (especially a certain note on the team's direction during development). I think all the sketches show progress for the all-in-one design. There are early cartoon sketches that show Ultra Magnus without the toy transformation gimmick, and then later sketches that include the backpack gimmick that we have all seen. I think it's fair to say that an armored prime wouldn't have as prominent a backpack, but I'm still curious about how that armor would work. And my hope remains that Takara will attempt a toy-based version of Powered Convoy later. Diaclone colors are okay!- 16669 replies

I've been complaining too much about Big Boy Magnus over in the Transformers thread. I was surprised to read that Takara was originally looking at both an armored prime and an all-in-one transformation early on in the design process. A helpful member posted these translations of the Masterpiece Guide Book at tfw2005: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/982723-masterpiece-ultra-magnus-prototype-529.html#post11592127 The all-on-one version won the final vote. I'm at peace with things now and have a new preorder at HLJ. I hope he looks great in person--better than the prototypes we've seen. And maybe armored prime will still get his day...eventually. -

For me, Prowl was an insta-buy. I had to fix a couple minor paint splotches on mine, but I liked it so much that I picked up another. I plan to get Reprolabels for my second Prowl and sticker him up like the G1 toy. My plan to pick up the rest of the Fairlady trio came later. I'm still on the fence with the MP-18S redeco, but Silverstreak looks good and I notice that the paint apps keep improving. -

While I'm saving up for a better camera, I've been shooting my photos with my old iPhone 4. I don't always use a tripod, which is a bad habit for stills like these. I notice that Windows likes to post a pop-up message asking me if I want to reset the orientation on some of my shots. I always say no, and the images continue to transfer from my phone in the right orientation. There are a few times that I've forgotten and picked yes, and these are the times when I get strange results. I don't think it is an exclusive Mac or Windows thing. It's just one of the hiccups one sees when working within different OS environments. Anyway, back on topic. I've been filling in a few gaps and picked up the following items that have arrived: MP-19 Smokescreen One set of Strike Armor and Super Parts for 1/60 DYRL VF-1 Ozma and Alto Super Parts for Bandai's VF-25 Renewals The Good Smile Nendroid Petite set of Macross Heroines -

Aldnoah Zero does like to surprise its audience, but I agree that Inaho being characterized as the sole tactical genius is a little suspicious. I'm waiting for Inaho to get his Slaine moment. I figure it is inevitable since no character seems immune to taking a fall.
