SOOOooo (buttons)... TT Arcee is scheduled to release Valentine's Day, Feb 14. Just in time, I say. I can wait for the next MP release. It gives me time to save up (and focus on my Macross addiction).- 16669 replies

LoL. Yamato did go off the grid with Basara in his Dynamite threads. Those are Fantastic shots with the 19P using Isamu as a stand in. It just goes to show how much more attractive the 19P would have been if it included two pilots rather than just Waldo. Alas, the world is left to wonder why Yamato never made a random Zola pilot or Liza Hollie as an alternative.

Thanks for the review, Scyla. Did you get Red Soar or Blue Soar? Once FanToys gets to Grimlock, I hope they tweak the design a little bit so that it improves on MP-08. I think I'm in the minority as one who wasn't impressed with TT's version, letting my copy go. I do like how not-Snarl is coming along and I'm also looking forward to not-Sludge.- 9128 replies

Cool. Hound and Inferno will be a fun addition to the Maketoys lineup. Chromedome in Maketoys's style will be interesting too. Is anyone else looking forward to TF02 Godarmor (not-Godbomber)? I like how he can be his own thing and turn into armor for Xovergen's own TF01 or MP-10. I think it'll be neat converting one of my Convoys into God Ginrai to stand with Star Saber.- 9128 replies

The computer and electronics super geek thread
technoblue replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The first reports were a little muddled on this, but Microsoft has been trying to clarify its point: http://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-windows-10-will-not-be-sold-as-a-subscription/ Given this, my understanding basically matches what I wrote above. Anyone who gets Windows 10 during the promotion will have a free upgrade copy. It should work as it does on all prior Windows upgrades and users, like system builders, shouldn't have to worry about buying a new copy just to wipe and reformat a drive. However, the long-term support that we were used to is changing. We will get fewer service pack upgrades and more incremental updates such as what is pushed out on Patch Tuesday now. I don't know much about app store integration since I didn't demo Windows 8 and have no experience with that functionality using Microsoft tools. With MacOS, apps and the iTunes app store are fundamental. Given the Xbox streaming stuff, I would qualify this version as an effort for Microsoft to gain ground in the mainstream. The business benefit is limited, I think. Especially now, given what azrael pointed out above. I don't see too many companies paying the price for another complete OS upgrade straight away after moving to Windows 7. If Windows 10 has the same staying power that 7 has, then this might be something to reconsider in five or seven years. Right now, this is limited to the pioneers of technology. -

Yes! I wish there had been more than 12 episodes. Rin is a very interesting character, given her origin as a ballet dancer, and her multiple transitions throughout the show as the main character. I also enjoyed the political intrigue, which reminded me of Gasarkai at times, but without the mystic overtones. -

^^sweet! For those into Combiner Wars, Takara is getting into the game with Unite Warriors Superion: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/1032071-takara-superion-slingshot.html Even better, no strange Alpha Bravo 'bot.- 16669 replies

HoloLens: It makes sense that Microsoft is targeting a broad market with this gadget. Whereas Google Glass tripped in its introduction by throwing the technology out into the wild without any explanation (creating a cultural aftershock) and the Oculus Rift is more of a dedicated gaming device. Microsoft proposes some interesting ideas in its demo, but I think a lot of those ideas are pie-in-the-sky or simply trying to leverage the popularity of VR gadgets. What I find more interesting is how Microsoft is taking more risks with new hardware. Windows 10: I like that it will be a free upgrade for both Windows 7 and 8.1 users. I'll be trying it out since I skipped Windows 8 and want to take a tour of the new interface. I'm not too worried about the use of the word service. Since ending support for XP, I think Windows has steadily been turning to a pure service model. That is, the company releases newer versions of the software more frequently with shorter support cycles. -

I'll need to see paint on MMC's prototype before I make any final judgments, but I do like how MMC avoids placing kibble behind not-Mirage's head. That's a sticking point that I have with DX9.- 9128 replies

It's a feature! I learned about it when I had to replace some broken shoulders on a couple of my early V2 VF-1 purchases. Getting the legs out of the way came in handy when breaking things down to access the smaller hinged pieces.

I've been surprised by what the big guy can pull off. I've put mine in running poses, commanding poses, and I've seen a bunch of good ideas popping up on tfw2005 while lurking there. Like MP-10, MP-22 has a nice, straight-forward transformation. and a few fun gimmicks. I'm happy with the articulation, even though it is limited. I might have a different opinion if I paid US prices, though. Because of the lack of detailing, MP-22's blocky, cartoon aesthetic is toyetic. I'm not really happy with the cost-saving compromises (backpack cab, questionable diecast usage), especially with the attention that TT is giving Star Saber. I wonder how close we were to that line where time and money would've allowed an MP-22 of MP-10 quality? Oh well...- 16669 replies

The replacement screws are a great idea too. I thought I would offer my parts up since the rest of the leg is a total loss. I am writing off the cause of my failure as a total rookie mistake. Here's what I think happened: When going from Battroid back to Fighter mode I got the leg transformation wrong while attempting to lock the legs with the base again. When fully extended, the legs do not twist. After snapping the leg, I opened it up to check the mechanism and verified that it only twists when pushed in all the way. And at that, only in one direction (opposite for both sides). If you force a side with enough torque like I did, the plastic inside is pliable enough that the inner mechanism will "jump the rails" and mess everything up. I usually watch a transformation video before attempting something like this myself, especially for a new/complicated study like the 171 but I skipped it this time and ended up paying for that lesson.

Mommar: I have a damaged, Luca RVF-171EX that I would be happy to break down to help solve your problem. Send me a PM and let me know which piece/pieces that you need to fix yours and I'll be happy to arrange something for you. If that's the piece that I think it is, then mine is complete with all screws and you will be able to use it as a 1:1 replacement. Edit: Here's the photo (sorry about the smartphone quality)

Yeah. Cross Ange still delivers quite a few cringe-worthy/laugh-out-loud moments, most of them focusing on Ange's own character development. She is often a parody of herself. And the latest episode was a great example of this. It's hard for me to get into KanColle for two reasons: I liked Arpeggio a lot and I'm not familiar with KanColle the game. I'm sticking with it, though. The first episode was very confusing. The second episode helped me out because I wasn't dumped into the middle of another epic battle and that gave me time to catch up/adjust. I haven't seen Strike Witches or Girls... and I think that puts me at a disadvantage with this type of story. -

I think the Takara MP-10 reissue will be okay. Especially if the MP-10 EVA release is any indication. The postman dropped my MP-10 EVA off this afternoon and it's a sturdy figure with excellent paint apps and tight joints. YotH Prime wins the award for being the loosest Masterpiece that I own, but he can still stand. I just wouldn't put him in any extreme kicking poses without first adding some future to strengthen his leg joints. In other news, I decided to take a risk on Arcee. For now, I'm sticking with the Takara Legends version because of those G1 colors.- 16669 replies
