  1. Yeah, I'm sticking to the slow lane this release. I think I migrated to Windows 7 retail a year after its release, but I did manage to try out Microsoft's Win 7 beta releases when they were generating them. It was a fun experience, but something I only wanted to do one time. I keep thinking of dancing with Linux again, since I do so much with it at work, or dual booting that and Windows but I'm not sure what the license requirements are for dual booting with Windows 10. There were some articles about this, but I'm having difficulty digging them up at the moment.
  2. That's a creative paring Gundam@ESEF. Love the photos with the 1J Anniversary and 0D together! Does Arcadia license any Robotech products? I thought all Robotech products were exclusive deals that HG made with Toynami? Personally, I think it would be sweet if either Arcadia or Bandai updated the VF-1 to use Macross the First designs. It is a solid design, but it could use an overhaul IMO.
  3. I think there is a timer. You have one month to preview Win 10 and decide to roll back... Here's an article: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/how-downgrade-windows-10-to-windows-7-8-3615606/ And this article says it may be possible to roll back after a month (depending on which Win 7 license you have): http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/ Hm. It may be more of a caution for OEM installs now that I think about it... Edit: clarification; adding in some missing words; returning to Zen...
  4. Microsoft wants everyone to BELIEVE that Windows 10 is as revolutionary as MS-DOS. It could be. The question anyone who wants to trade their Windows 7 license for a Windows 10 licesne should ask is, "Do I want to be a software pioneer?" Because it doesn't matter how many pre-releases were tested before this. You are now part of a much larger group testing the mass-market retail version. It could go peachy and it could fail hard. Do you want to roll the dice on a perfectly good working system? Personally, I'm going to wait. If anyone clicks the blue button, though, please come back to tell us if your computer survived.
  5. Yay? This will be even more exciting when that sticker turns into printing for a later test shot/prototype. *crosses fingers*
  6. ^ I saw the movie this past weekend with the family. Pixar has used the "move" motif in other films (see Toy Story). I think that they could have raised the stakes this time to make the stress that Riley's emotions were rallying against a little more present day. Maybe the mother and father were having difficulties in their own relationship because of his job or maybe they could have shown more scenes where she was having difficulty making friends. The movie as it is seems quite toned down, although there are things that I thought worked. I like how Riley's emotions were illustrated as becoming more complex throughout the film. Yes, this meant that Joy needed to be an oblivious air head in the beginning, and all the other emotions were similarly working against each other, but it worked. Anyway, if I were to rank this among Pixar's other films, I would place it in the middle: good but not great. It could have used a better pre-movie short too.
  7. The danger of the hype machine... But I'm also concerned with Arcadia's trend toward minimalism, especially at the current asking price, and I say that as someone who got back into Macross because of Zero. When the debut anniversary 1J included so much printing and a water slide decal sheet to boot, I thought at least some of that would become the new standard in later releases. It was disappointing when none of it did and Arcadia took the path that it did. I wonder if the local fans are seeing the same things that we are seeing or if they are more forgiving of this in light of what happened to Yamato?
  8. Hm. Gone is the Hasbro yellow for the translucent cockpit. The blue is different and TT painted the legs all the way up. The stripes are also more uniform. It's also interesting to see TT eschewing its strict toon styling for more of a toy aesthetic (the black nose cone). It looks like a cool figure for those who waited. Anyway, I sold my MP-11 seekers so I'll be passing on this and any other repaints. I'm trying to keep the Transformers army small.
  9. I've read about that in the updates, but I'm not sure what the issue is because the Kickstarter campaign was promoted to fund physical assets only (pre-production costs, set construction, sound stage assets, and was outlined very well). My nice guy response is that I guess some people got confused because of the perks? But I dunno, that's as far as I take it. With regard to communication and transparency, I call BS on that. There are multiple access points: The startrekaxanar facebook updates The startrekaxanar.com web site updates (I use this because I don't have facebook), or The 77 updates for the Axanar Kickstarter campaign itself, which has referenced the other updates multiple times And this is where I get irked. At the end of the day, what the Kickstarter brouhaha illustrates is entitlement in its worst form from a minority who is upset because they don't get content creation or basic reading. Fair enough. The Axanar team appears to be giving money back to those who are really vocal about it. TL;DR: I don't get the complaints. Edit: I didn't want to write "is giving" above since I'm not affiliated with Axanar Productions, and I only know what I've seen in the Kickstarter feeds concerning this topic.
  10. ^ Same. I'm also happy to see more photos of the grey prototype, which looks pretty good in Battroid mode already. The 'shopped concept art was sending shivers up my spine.
  11. KITT was too fast to get caught by this 80s combiner. Also, the Hoff.
  12. It would. I'm also hoping for a series with just as many surprises for old fans as 2199 had.
  13. That would be awesome if it ends up around $100 US. But I'm thinking the reactive armor will be closer to half the cost of the 0A/0S, assuming the 0S doesn't cost more than the 0A. 19200JPY, and no less than 17500JPY, before the usual discounts and conversion rates. That's my guess.
  14. Wild. These are the Zoids I remember playing with, among other childhood toys: Tyrannazoid Aquazoid Protozoid Giant Zrk (my favorite) I guess I missed the change to anime designs. But yeah, I can see the resemblance. Personally, I'll be happy with this one if the heavy weapons in the concept art are removable, especially the two shoulder cannons that conceal the dino backpack/collar area. It would be nice to see not-Trypticon's SD profile.
  15. It would be exciting to see Arcadia tackle an overhaul of the SV-51γ. To think that Yamato's version is going to be eight years old in August.
  16. ^Right on! MegaHouse is doing better than I expected, but Yuki does end up getting more repaints and resculpts than anyone else in the series. I guess that speaks to the popularity of her character. Personally, I think it would be cool to see MH sculpts of the following characters as well: Either of the Kodai brothers, but Susumu tops the list Shima Sanada Dr. Sado Starsha, as noted Dessler Domel Wolf Some of these may be wishing upon a star, but others may happen if I wait long enough. Anyway, that's my plan: to wait.
  17. Axanar Productions dropped Kickstarter after it changed from Amazon payments to Stripe. Indiegogo gives the team and its backers a crowdfunding tool that allows for a more flexible payment system.
  18. It was super exciting to see so much Macross Zero news from Arcadia this weekend. I'm looking forward to more pictures/sneek peeks as they come and hope to pre-order the VF-0S soon. The mass production 0A is very interesting too, and I'll be keeping an eye on future news for that release. Wouldn't it be nice if Arcadia followed Yamato's tradition of adding extra Tampo printing to this in 2016? That would make it an instant pre-order for me.
  19. Thanks. I missed that detail on the figure. It's not as obvious as it was in the anime. Welp, that makes this even easier for me to pass on. Yuki is great, and this sculpt isn't too outrageous, but getting more characters is better and I can wait for MH to move on to new things again.
  20. Looks good. Was it Yurisha who had green highlights to her outfit? Anyway, I'm still waiting for Starsha.
  21. From ActionRobo's Facebook, it's Ironhide! This is one of the better angles on the face that I've seen.
  22. Yeah. Using phonetic spelling... mäk-rŏss - The short "o" sound is what most English speakers recognize who grew up with Robotech before watching the original series. mä-kū-rōss - The correct pronunciation includes a third syllable. To my ears, it seems to have two long vowels and only the short "a" sound. And the third pronunciation that Mr. March brought up... I'm not even sure why that exists for the ADV dub, especially since they had Mari Iijima reprising her role. She knew how to pronounce Macross, but this is all old news and off topic here. Edit: Perhaps the live action movie will give a fourth pronunciation of the name, Macross? I wonder how it might mutate if they dare to use it?
  23. These are the options that I know of: Create an .mkv file with a tool like Handbrake. Add subs to the .mkv if you want or, if your Blu-ray player supports it, you can keep the subtitle file separate. You can rip the Blu-ray disc and generate an ISO image. With this image, you can load external softsubs using media players like MPC-HC or VLC. It shouldn't matter what format the subs are in, or whether or not they are softsubs. Both of these methods will allow you to get external subtitles working, and you can store the shiny disc in a safe place when you are done building your file.
