  1. Looks good enough to me. And I can't wait to see it in color.

Mm. The site was confusing on that point. I was thinking of the stand as an early preorder bonus like you can get with certain DVD and Blu-ray releases - more of a timed thing than a different order. Anyway, good news for those who find out about this on Nov 5. : )

Right. If you preorder within the first week, then Roy's 1S should come with the limited edition stand (such as it is). If you preorder on November 5 or later, then it will not come with the stand. I don't know if there will be a cheaper version announced later. I expect this Tamashii release will be priced the same whether or not you get the included first week preorder bonus.

That, or the DYRL back stage/body double version?

Indeed. It is a difference of 616 JPY with the posted price. Is Japan sales tax still around 8%? That would put the actual Tamashii retail price around 8744 JPY and the no tax difference at about 1376 JPY. Even then, it's still not bad if N-Y can secure the orders. If you have a contact or family overseas, then it may be worthwhile to seek out another solution. I don't mind the change either, although I was thinking it could be the light that was used for in the photos. But I really don't know. It will be interesting to see both Hikaru and Roy's 1S in hand. If Bandai is changing things, then they aren't alone. It seems both Arcadia and Bandai are doing this just for the sake of doing something different and making their new VF-1 releases stand out (and that can be cool too). Of course, my single wish is for one of the two companies to finish the 1S trio.
  6. Yeah, it's an easy pass for me too. Walking away from the seeker mold wasn't hard, especially since I have another transforming fighter collection. But I will say that this news is cool for those who are into it. I think the seekers stands to obliterate MP-10 for repaints. Off the top of my head, Hasbro has brought MP-10 to retail twice in some form and Takara has issued four variations of MP-10. Did I miss any? For the seekers, MP-11 has been released by Hasbro four times (now that ToysRUs has Starscream) and Takara has released MP-11 five times. One could argue that Acid Storm shouldn't be counted twice since Takara's release was exactly the same paint scheme as Hasbro's release. But now that Ramjet is announced, that opens another door for more paint schemes, driving this mold off into foreverland.

I wonder what the chances are of a web exclusive Max 1S release? Anyway, in for one Roy. : )
  8. Yeah. I do think Tom Baker's figure could have been a little better. And the smiling face they made for him could have been somewhat less electric...I don't know. I really liked Hartnell and Smith v2. I missed Tennant v1. But from the pictures that I've seen, I've long felt that his was the one to beat until today. Karen Gillan's figure was way, way off and I'm not sad that I missed that one. Capaldi v1 is nice, but he is rockin' the current Who season with a new look and new gadgets. Big Chief could either give their current figure some upgrades or do another version when this season ends. Either way, I want to wait a bit on that one.
  9. Ha! Awesome. It's about time. I'm excited to see Tennant v.2 and Big Chief's two TARDIS releases that are coming soon, as well. Their 1/6 line is nice and I hope to see more Classic Doctors sprinkled into the line again some day, although I read that they don't get as many sales (which is understandable).
  10. Good point. Being wrong is no big deal, though, it's one way to learn things.
  11. I'm looking forward to seeing more of what Discotek did with the subs. I also want to test a few key episodes later in the series, which don't always playback smoothly when watching my ImaginAsian DVD-Rs.
  12. Thanks for the correction and the hint. I get manga, visual novels, and light novels confused. I have read a number of manga, but not too many light or visual novels.
  13. Here you go, frothymug: http://myanimelist.net/anime/season I'm having a tough time getting into Owarimonogatari. I've only made it through the first episode, and that was a tough ride. I think my difficulty may be due to the fact that I'm not into Ouigi Oshino's character much at all, and it's hard focusing on the story when it revolves around her and Araragi so much. BTW, I haven't spoiled myself with the manga on this, so I could be missing something obvious and important.
  14. Well, it isn't all bad. As noted previously, BttF does what it intended. I think the problem is when one compares it to more modern day films, which use different techniques and updated effects. Add to that the fact that the 1980s portion is showing its age, but isn't considered old-fashioned enough to be as classic as the 1950s piece, and it becomes a bit more of an enigmatic study. Still, I like two thirds of the series enough to deal with the one third that bugs me.
  15. ^Nice. I saw some examples of the improved Discotek subtitles while lurking on another forum. They do appear to be worth the double dip.
  16. Transformation would be a welcome gimmick. Even better, would be a Daedalus Attack gimmick complete with a handful of mini destroids. I mean, we are dreaming, right?
  17. Thanks for posting the comparisons with the line art, Bobby. Even though there are flaws that jump out at me in those pictures, this first version of the VF-2SS toy still has a sort of charm. I feel better about keeping my pre-order.
  18. HaHa! Power to the dream, noel. I'll cross my fingers with you...
  19. As a Macross II Valkyrie, it's almost fitting, isn't it? I'm trying to take the glass half full path, although I get where the critics are coming from too. The same thing happened with MegaHouse's Orguss release (too pricey, looks cheap, yadda, yadda), but it ended up been a solid recreation of Kei's Orguss in toy form and MegaHouse is continuing the line. For this VF-2SS, Battroid looks like the best mode in the latest pictures. I'm hoping that some sort of transformation nonsense was keeping the other photos from looking their best. We'll see when people get this in hand.
  20. ^This. I did the unthinkable and preordered a second 0S for this reason. edit: need to watch my wording...lol
  21. It really could use thrusters/legs that are a smidge wider. And I agree that it looks like a panel is missing, especially when looking at the line art. It will be interesting to see if that is a transformation error or an unfortunate design decision. The little black stand...that thing just looks nasty. It boggles the mind why they chose to show that off with the painted copy.
  22. Some of the new photos are funky. I wonder why they kept the silly landing gear (no tire detail)? Still, I'm hanging on to my one preorder.
  23. The disco was boss, but I can't imagine having only the option to listen to disco for that long.
